Fix UBSan failures for `PyBaseExceptionObject`, `PyStopIterationObject`, `PySystemExitObject`, `PyImportErrorObject`, `PyOSErrorObject`, `PyNameErrorObject`, `PyAttributeErrorObject`, `PySyntaxErrorObject`, `KeyError`, `UnicodeError*`, `PyBaseExceptionGroupObject`
Remove redundant casts
Align the naming convention `Py[...]_CAST(op)` where only an assert-only type check is performed.
The MemoryError freelist was not thread-safe in the free threaded build.
Use a mutex to protect accesses to the freelist. Unlike other freelists,
the MemoryError freelist is not performance sensitive.
- Unify `get_unicode` and `get_string` in a single function.
- Allow to retrieve the underlying `object` attribute, its
size, and the adjusted 'start' and 'end', all at once.
Add a new `_PyUnicodeError_GetParams` internal function for this.
(In `exceptions.c`, it's somewhat common to not need all the attributes,
but the compiler has opportunity to inline the function and optimize
unneeded work away. Outside that file, we'll usually need all or
most of them at once.)
- Use a common implementation for the following functions:
- `PyUnicode{Decode,Encode}Error_GetEncoding`
- `PyUnicode{Decode,Encode,Translate}Error_GetObject`
- `PyUnicode{Decode,Encode,Translate}Error_{Get,Set}Reason`
- `PyUnicode{Decode,Encode,Translate}Error_{Get,Set}{Start,End}`
We make use of the same mechanism that we use for the static builtin types. This required a few tweaks.
The relevant code could use some cleanup but I opted to avoid the significant churn in this change. I'll tackle that separately.
This change is the final piece needed to make _datetime support multiple interpreters. I've updated the module slot accordingly.
* BaseException_vectorcall() now creates a tuple from 'args' array.
* Creation an exception using BaseException_vectorcall() is now a
single function call, rather than having to call
BaseException_new() and then BaseException_init().
Calling BaseException_init() is inefficient since it overrides
the 'args' attribute.
* _PyErr_SetKeyError() now uses PyObject_CallOneArg() to create the
KeyError instance to use BaseException_vectorcall().
Add PythonFinalizationError exception. This exception derived from
RuntimeError is raised when an operation is blocked during the Python
finalization.
The following functions now raise PythonFinalizationError, instead of
RuntimeError:
* _thread.start_new_thread()
* subprocess.Popen
* os.fork()
* os.fork1()
* os.forkpty()
Morever, _winapi.Overlapped finalizer now logs an unraisable
PythonFinalizationError, instead of an unraisable RuntimeError.
We add _winapi.BatchedWaitForMultipleObjects to wait for larger numbers of handles.
This is an internal module, hence undocumented, and should be used with caution.
Check the docstring for info before using BatchedWaitForMultipleObjects.
Fixes#109894
* set `interp.static_objects.last_resort_memory_error.args` to empty tuple to avoid crash on `PyErr_Display()` call
* allow `_PyExc_InitGlobalObjects()` to be called on subinterpreter init

Move the following private functions and structures to
pycore_modsupport.h internal C API:
* _PyArg_BadArgument()
* _PyArg_CheckPositional()
* _PyArg_NoKeywords()
* _PyArg_NoPositional()
* _PyArg_ParseStack()
* _PyArg_ParseStackAndKeywords()
* _PyArg_Parser structure
* _PyArg_UnpackKeywords()
* _PyArg_UnpackKeywordsWithVararg()
* _PyArg_UnpackStack()
* _Py_ANY_VARARGS()
Changes:
* Python/getargs.h now includes pycore_modsupport.h to export
functions.
* clinic.py now adds pycore_modsupport.h when one of these functions
is used.
* Add pycore_modsupport.h includes when a C extension uses one of
these functions.
* Define Py_BUILD_CORE_MODULE in C extensions which now include
directly or indirectly (via code generated by Argument Clinic)
pycore_modsupport.h:
* _csv
* _curses_panel
* _dbm
* _gdbm
* _multiprocessing.posixshmem
* _sqlite.row
* _statistics
* grp
* resource
* syslog
* _testcapi: bad_get() no longer uses METH_FASTCALL calling
convention but METH_VARARGS. Replace _PyArg_UnpackStack() with
PyArg_ParseTuple().
* _testcapi: add PYTESTCAPI_NEED_INTERNAL_API macro which is defined
by _testcapi sub-modules which need the internal C API
(pycore_modsupport.h): exceptions.c, float.c, vectorcall.c,
watchers.c.
* Remove Include/cpython/modsupport.h header file.
Include/modsupport.h no longer includes the removed header file.
* Fix mypy clinic.py
Remove the following functions from the public C API:
* _PyObject_RealIsInstance()
* _PyObject_RealIsSubclass()
* _Py_add_one_to_index_F()
* _Py_add_one_to_index_C()
Move _PyObject_RealIsInstance() and _PyObject_RealIsSubclass() to the
internal C API (pycore_abstract.h) and no longer export their symbols
(in libpython).
Make _Py_add_one_to_index_F() and _Py_add_one_to_index_C() functions
static: no longer export them.
These functions are broken by design because they discard any exceptions raised
inside, including MemoryError and KeyboardInterrupt. They should not be
used in new code.
* Pickle the `name` and `args` attributes of AttributeError when present.

Some incompatible changes had gone in, and the "ignore" lists weren't properly undated. This change fixes that. It's necessary prior to enabling test_check_c_globals, which I hope to do soon.
Note that this does include moving last_resort_memory_error to PyInterpreterState.

* Make sure that the current exception is always normalized.
* Remove redundant type and traceback fields for the current exception.
* Add new API functions: PyErr_GetRaisedException, PyErr_SetRaisedException
* Add new API functions: PyException_GetArgs, PyException_SetArgs
