The way the line wrapping was done turns out to be quite undesirable, because it often leaves multiple parameters on the same line. If we later need to add or remove individual parameters, then it leaves us having to redo line wrapping. This commit changes the line wrapping so that every single "-param value" is one its own new line. If the "value" is still too long, then we break on ',' or ':' or ' ' as needed. This means that when we come to add / remove parameters from the test files line, the patch diffs will only ever show a single line added/removed which will greatly simplify review work. qemu: command: Override HOME variable for system QEMU By default, qemu user's home dir points to '/' which shouldn't be used at all. We therefore pass the HOME variable from the current variable iff not running as SUID, which means that for systemd we never set it. tests: unify qemu binary paths for all qemu related tests Our test data used a lot of different qemu binary paths and some of them were based on downstream systems. tests: qemuxml: Remove prehistoric machine types from legacy tests None of the tests depend on anything that the machine type would influence. This will allow us to drop the very old machine type from the non-real-data tests. If something depends on the machine type it should be tested with real data rather than this hack. qemu: Always assume QEMU_CAPS_REALTIME_MLOCK The '-realtime mlock' cmd line argument was introduced in QEMU commit v1.5.0-rc0~190 which matches minimal QEMU version we require. Therefore, the capability will always be present. Apparently, nearly none of our xml2argv test cases had the capability hence slightly bigger change under qemuxml2argvdata/. There's a LOT of test fallout as we did not use capabilities close enough to upstream for many of our tests. Several tests had a 'bootindex' variant. If there's no file to open, why specify its format. Anyway, I have a domain like this: <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> and obviously I am unable to start it. tests: split long lines Long lines are harder to read and harder to diff; in fact, if lines get too long (> 1000 bytes), it starts causing issues where git send-email refuses to send patches for the file. I've cleaned up the tests directory in the past (see commits bd6c46f, 3b750d1), but new long lines have been introduced in the meantime. Why 90 instead of 80? Because there were too many tests on the fringe edge, and I didn't want to edit that many files. Add a syntax check to prevent future long lines. * cfg.mk (sc_prohibit_long_lines): New rule. * tests/qemuxml2argvdata/qemuxml2argv-*.args: Split lines of any file with content longer than 90 columns. * tests/storagevolxml2argvdata/*.argv: Likewise. qemu: domain I/O asynchronous handling For virtio disks and interfaces, qemu allows users to enable or disable ioeventfd feature. This means, qemu can execute domain code, while another thread waits for I/O event. Basically, in some cases it is win, in some loss. This feature is available via 'ioeventfd' attribute in disk and interface <driver> element. It accepts 'on' and 'off'. Leaving this attribute out defaults to hypervisor decision.
