nvme: move to a new drivers/nvme/host directory This patch moves the NVMe driver from drivers/block/ to its own new drivers/nvme/host/ directory. This is in preparation of splitting the current monolithic driver up and add support for the upcoming NVMe over Fabrics standard. The drivers/nvme/host/ is chose to leave space for a NVMe target implementation in addition to this host side driver. nvme: make SG_IO support optional Translation SCSI commands to NVMe commands is rather pointless in general as applications must not expext to be able to use SCSI commands on a generic block device. nvme: implement multipath access to nvme subsystems This patch adds native multipath support to the nvme driver. For each namespace we create only single block device node, which can be used to access that namespace through any of the controllers that refer to it. The gendisk for each controllers path to the name space still exists inside the kernel, but is hidden from userspace. The character device nodes are still available on a per-controller basis. A new link from the sysfs directory for the subsystem allows to find all controllers for a given subsystem. Currently we will always send I/O to the first available path, this will be changed once the NVMe Asynchronous Namespace Access (ANA) TP is ratified and implemented, at which point we will look at the ANA state for each namespace. Another possibility that was prototyped is to use the path that is closes to the submitting NUMA code, which will be mostly interesting for PCI, but might also be useful for RDMA or FC transports in the future. There is not plan to implement round robin or I/O service time path selectors, as those are not scalable with the performance rates provided by NVMe. The multipath device will go away once all paths to it disappear, any delay to keep it alive needs to be implemented at the controller level. nvme-fabrics: add a generic NVMe over Fabrics library The NVMe over Fabrics library provides an interface for both transports and the nvme core to handle fabrics specific commands and attributes independent of the underlying transport. In addition, the fabrics library adds a misc device interface that allow actually creating a fabrics controller, as we can't just autodiscover it like in the PCI case. The nvme-cli utility has been enhanced to use this interface to support fabric connect and discovery. It can be used to connect to remote NVMe over Fabrics controllers over Infiniband, RoCE or iWarp, and uses the existing NVMe core driver as well a the new fabrics library. To connect to all NVMe over Fabrics controller reachable on a given taget port using RDMA/CM use the following command: nvme connect-all -t rdma -a $IPADDR This requires the latest version of nvme-cli with Fabrics support. Utilizes a lower-layer API to FC host adapters to send/receive FC-4 LS operations and FCP operations that comprise NVME over FC operation.
