Heiko Carstens 521674e4ff s390/claw: remove "eieio" calls
If the code really depends on ordering it's already racy. The additional
memory barriers (eieio) don't help with that.
If the code is not racy the memory barriers also aren't needed.

In any case, just remove them.

Peter Oberparleiter de400d6b78 [S390] fix mismatch in summation of I/O IRQ statistics
Current IRQ statistics support does not show detail counts for I/O
interrupts which are processed internally only. The result is a
summation count which is way off such as this one:

           CPU0 CPU1 CPU2
I/O: 1331 710 442
[...]
QAI: 15 16 16 [I/O] QDIO Adapter Interrupt
QDI: 1 0 0 [I/O] QDIO Interrupt
DAS: 706 645 381 [I/O] DASD
C15: 26 10 0 [I/O] 3215
C70: 0 0 0 [I/O] 3270
TAP: 0 0 0 [I/O] Tape
VMR: 0 0 0 [I/O] Unit Record Devices
LCS: 0 0 0 [I/O] LCS
CLW: 0 0 0 [I/O] CLAW
CTC: 0 0 0 [I/O] CTC
APB: 0 0 0 [I/O] AP Bus

Fix this by moving I/O interrupt accounting into the common I/O layer.

Ursula Braun 0ca8cc6fe7 s390: remove cu3088 layer for lcs and ctcm
The cu3088-driver used as common base for lcs- and ctcm-devices
makes it difficult to assign the appropriate driver to an lcs-device
or a ctcm-device. This patch eliminates the cu3088-driver and thus
the root device "cu3088". Path /sys/devices/cu3088 is replaced with
the pathes /sys/devices/lcs and /sys/devices/ctcm.

Patch is based on a proposal from Cornelia Huck.

Greg Kroah-Hartman dff59b64af s390: remove driver_data direct access of struct device
In the near future, the driver core is going to not allow direct access
to the driver_data pointer in struct device. Instead, the functions
dev_get_drvdata() and dev_set_drvdata() should be used. These functions
have been around since the beginning, so are backwards compatible with
all older kernel versions.

typos in my original version of this patch.

Martin Schwidefsky 347a8dc3b8 [PATCH] s390: cleanup Kconfig
Sanitize some s390 Kconfig options. We have ARCH_S390, ARCH_S390X,
ARCH_S390_31, 64BIT, S390_SUPPORT and COMPAT. Replace these 6 options by
S390, 64BIT and COMPAT.

Olaf Hering 733482e445 [PATCH] changing CONFIG_LOCALVERSION rebuilds too much, for no good reason
This patch removes almost all inclusions of linux/version.h. The 3
#defines are unused in most of the touched files.

A few drivers use the simple KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) macro, which is
unfortunatly in linux/version.h.

There are also lots of #ifdef for long obsolete kernels, this was not
touched. In a few places, the linux/version.h include was move to where
the LINUX_VERSION_CODE was used.

quilt vi `find * -type f -name "*.[ch]"|xargs grep -El '(UTS_RELEASE|LINUX_VERSION_CODE|KERNEL_VERSION|linux/version.h)'|grep -Ev '(/(boot|coda|drm)/|~$)'`

search pattern:
/UTS_RELEASE\|LINUX_VERSION_CODE\|KERNEL_VERSION\|linux\/\(utsname\|version\).h

David S. Miller b03efcfb21 [NET]: Transform skb_queue_len() binary tests into skb_queue_empty()
This is part of the grand scheme to eliminate the qlen
member of skb_queue_head, and subsequently remove the
'list' member of sk_buff.

Most users of skb_queue_len() want to know if the queue is
empty or not, and that's trivially done with skb_queue_empty()
which doesn't use the skb_queue_head->qlen member and instead
uses the queue list emptyness as the test.

Michael Holzheu 66a464dbc8 [PATCH] s390: debug feature changes
This patch changes the memory allocation method for the s390 debug feature.
Trace buffers had been allocated using the get_free_pages() function before.
Therefore it was not possible to get big memory areas in a running system due
to memory fragmentation. Now the trace buffers are subdivided into several
subbuffers with pagesize. Therefore it is now possible to allocate more
memory for the trace buffers and more trace records can be written.

In addition to that, dynamic specification of the size of the trace buffers is
implemented. It is now possible to change the size of a trace buffer using a
new debugfs file instance. When writing a number into this file, the trace
buffer size is changed to 'number * pagesize'.

In the past all the traces could be obtained from userspace by accessing files
in the "proc" filesystem. Now with debugfs we have a new filesystem which
should be used for debugging purposes. This patch moves the debug feature
from procfs to debugfs.

Since the interface of debug_register() changed, all device drivers, which use
the debug feature had to be adjusted.

Linus Torvalds 1da177e4c3 Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
