It's wrong if the device tree doesn't provide a phy-mode property for
the cpsw slaves as it is documented to be required in
Documentation/devicetree/bindings/net/cpsw.txt.
Anyhow it's nice to catch that problem, still more as it used to work
without this property up to commit 388367a5a9 (drivers: net: cpsw: use
cpsw-phy-sel driver to configure phy mode) which is in v3.13-rc1.

this is a pull request with one patch for net/master, for the current release
cycle. Olivier Sobrie noticed and fixed that the kvaser_usb driver doesn't
check the number of channels value from the hardware, which may result in
writing over the bounds of an array in the driver.

The bonding driver take write locks and spin locks that are shared
by the tx path in enslave processing and notification processing,
If the netconsole is in use, the bonding can call printk which puts
us in the netpoll tx path, if the netconsole is attached to the bonding
driver, result in deadlock.
So add protection for these place, by checking the netpoll_block_tx
state, we can defer the sending of the netconsole frames until a later
time using the retransmit feature of netpoll_send_skb that is triggered
on the return code NETDEV_TX_BUSY.

STi series SOCs have a glue layer on top of the synopsis gmac IP, this
glue layer needs to be configured before the gmac driver starts using
the IP.
This patch adds a support to this glue layer which is configured via
stmmac setup, init, exit callbacks.

This patch fixes regression caused by commit a16dad7763 "MIPS: Fix
potencial corruption". That commit fixes one corruption scenario in
cost of adding another one, which actually start to cause crashes
on Yeeloong laptop when rtl8187 driver is used.
For correct DMA read operation on machines without DMA coherence, kernel
have to invalidate cache, such it will refill later with new data that
device wrote to memory, when that data is needed to process. We can only
invalidate full cache line. Hence when cache line includes both dma
buffer and some other data (written in cache, but not yet in main
memory), the other data can not hit memory due to invalidation. That
happen on rtl8187 where struct rtl8187_priv fields are located just
before and after small buffers that are passed to USB layer and DMA
is performed on them.
To fix the problem we align buffers and reserve space after them to make
them match cache line.
This patch does not resolve all possible MIPS problems entirely, for
that we have to assure that we always map cache aligned buffers for DMA,
what can be complex or even not possible. But patch fixes visible and
reproducible regression and seems other possible corruptions do not
happen in practice, since Yeeloong laptop works stable without rtl8187
driver.

[ 251.154656] PCM: Lost interrupts? [Q]-0 (stream=0, delta=15903, new_hw_ptr=293408, old_hw_ptr=277505)
The exact code flow that causes that is:
1. wpa_supplicant send a start_scan request to the nl80211 driver
2. mac80211 module call rtl_op_config with IEEE80211_CONF_CHANGE_IDLE
3. rtl_ips_nic_on is called which disable local irqs
4. rtl92c_phy_set_rf_power_state() is called
5. rtl_ps_enable_nic() is called and hw_init()is executed and then the interrupts on the device are enabled
A good solution could be to refactor the code to avoid calling rtl92ce_hw_init() with the irqs disabled
but a quick and dirty solution that has proven to work is
to reenable the irqs during the function rtl92ce_hw_init().
I think that it is safe doing so since the device interrupt will only be enabled after the init function succeed.

Please pull this batch of fixes intended for the 3.14 stream!
For the mac80211 bits, Johannes says:
"This is just a collection of small fixes, the commit logs explain the
details. The only thing that isn't strictly a fix is the 5/10 MHz
enabling, I had forgotten this and there's little point in waiting
longer. The patch simply removes the force-disable code that I put in
when there was a problem with the userspace API (that has long been
fixed.)"
For the iwlwifi bits, Emmanuel says:
"I have an important fix that disables A band in case the driver thought
it was enabled, and the firmware disagreed. We ended up making the
firmware unhappy. I also fix the station table in AP mode and fix the
scan while we have BT working.
Johannes removes a static variable that could potentially lead to to
issues on multi-device setups and disables scheduled scan to avoid
issues with old versions of wpa_supplicant.
A small fix from David on scan and a few new device IDs for 7265."
On top of that...
Oleksij Rempel adds a USB ID to the ar5523 driver and changes the
default powersave setting for ath9k_htc to "off", due to observed
stability issues (based on an equivalent ath9k patch).
Stanislaw Gruszka similarly disables powersave for a couple of rt2x00
drivers. He also fixes a couple of scheduling while atomic issues
in ath9k_htc.
Sujith Manoharan rounds-out the powersave disables with one for ath9k.
He also fixes a build prolem with ath9k on ARM and fixes an ath9k Tx
power calculation.
Finally, Andrea Merello fixes a couple of lingering DMA mapping
problems in the rtl8180 driver.

bnx2x driver uses incorrect PF identifier to configure (in HW) the VF
interrupt scheme; As a result, in multi-function mode the configuration
for PFs with a high index (4+) will overflow and the PF will erroneously
configure a single ISR scheme for its VFs.
As a result, if such a VF uses multiple queues, interrupt generation will
stop after VF receives an Rx packet or sends a Tx packet on a queue

Quoting David Vrabel -
"5780 cards cannot have jumbo frames and TSO enabled together. When
jumbo frames are enabled by setting the MTU, the TSO feature must be
cleared. This is done indirectly by calling netdev_update_features()
which will call tg3_fix_features() to actually clear the flags.
netdev_update_features() will also trigger a new netlink message for the
feature change event which will result in a call to tg3_get_stats64()
which deadlocks on the tg3 lock."
tg3_set_mtu() does not need to be under the tg3 lock since converting

In the original code, if tg3_readphy() fails then it does an unnecessary
check to verify "err" is still zero and then returns -EBUSY.
My static checker complains about the unnecessary "if (!err)" check and
anyway it is better to propagate the -EBUSY error code from
tg3_readphy() instead of hard coding it here. And really the original
code is confusing to look at.

Orignal code will not detect a DMA mapping failure, causing the HW
to attempt a DMA from an invalid address.
This patch add the error check and eventually simply drops the TX
packet if we can't map it for DMA.

In original code the old RX DMA buffer is unmapped and processed and at the end
of the isr a new buffer is mapped with pci_map_single and attached to the RX
descriptor.
If pci_map_single fails then the RX descriptor remains with no valid DMA buffer
attached.
In this condition the DMA will target where it shouldn't with obvious evil
consequences.
Simply avoiding re-arming the descriptor will prevent buggy DMA but it will
result soon in RX stuck.
This patch move the DMA mapping of the new buffer at the beginning of the ISR
(and it adds error check for pci_map_single success/fail).
If the DMA mapping fails then we do not unmap the old buffer and we re-arm the
descriptor without processing it, with the old DMA buffer still attached.
In this way we lose the currently RX-ed packet, but whenever next calls to
pci_map_single will succeed again, then the RX process will go on without stuck.

The recent patch to fix receive side flow control
(11b57f90257c1d6a91cee720151b69e0c2020cf6: xen-netback: stop vif thread
spinning if frontend is unresponsive) solved the spinning thread problem,
however caused an another one. The receive side can stall, if:
- [THREAD] xenvif_rx_action sets rx_queue_stopped to true
- [INTERRUPT] interrupt happens, and sets rx_event to true
- [THREAD] then xenvif_kthread sets rx_event to false
- [THREAD] rx_work_todo doesn't return true anymore
Also, if interrupt sent but there is still no room in the ring, it take quite a
long time until xenvif_rx_action realize it. This patch ditch that two variable,
and rework rx_work_todo. If the thread finds it can't fit more skb's into the
ring, it saves the last slot estimation into rx_last_skb_slots, otherwise it's
kept as 0. Then rx_work_todo will check if:
- there is something to send to the ring (like before)
- there is space for the topmost packet in the queue
I think that's more natural and optimal thing to test than two bool which are
set somewhere else.

MII management bus clock is derived from the MAC clock by dividing it by
MIIMODER register CLKDIV field value. This value may need to be set up
in case it is undefined or its default value is too high (and
communication with PHY is too slow) or too low (and communication with
PHY is impossible). The value of CLKDIV is not specified directly, but
is derived from the MAC clock for the default MII management bus frequency
of 2.5MHz. The MAC clock may be specified in the platform data, or in
the 'clocks' device tree attribute.

When a Gigabit PHY device is connected to a 10/100Mbits capable Ethernet
MAC, the driver will restrict the phydev->supported modes to mask off
Gigabit. If the Gigabit PHY comes out of reset with the Gigabit features
set by default in MII_CTRL1000, it will keep advertising these feature,
so by the time we call genphy_config_advert(), the condition on
phydev->supported having the Gigabit features on is false, and we do not
update MII_CTRL1000 with updated values, and we keep advertising Gigabit
features, eventually configuring the PHY for Gigabit whilst the Ethernet
MAC does not support that.
This patches fixes the problem by ensuring that the Gigabit feature bits
are always cleared in MII_CTRL1000, if the PHY happens to be a Gigabit
PHY, and then, if Gigabit features are supported, setting those and
updating MII_CTRL1000 accordingly.

The driver wasn't reading the NVM properly. While this
didn't lead to any issue until now, it seems that there
is an old version of the NVM in the wild.
In this version, the A band channels appear to be valid
but the SKU capabilities (another field of the NVM) says
that A band isn't supported at all.
With this specific version of the NVM, the driver would
think that A band is supported while the HW / firmware
don't. This leads to asserts.

no explicit destructor which is enforced since Linux 3.11 with commit
376c7311bd (net: add a temporary sanity check in skb_orphan()).
This patch adds some helper functions to make sure that a destructor is
properly defined when a sock reference is assigned to a CAN related skb.
To create an unshared skb owned by the original sock a common helper function
has been introduced to replace open coded functions to create CAN echo skbs.

There is no reason to disallow building the driver on big-endian ARM kernels.
Furthermore, the current behavior is actually broken on little-endian PowerPC
as well.
The choice of register accessor functions must purely depend on the CPU
architecture, not which endianess the CPU is running on. Note that we nowadays
allow both big-endian ARM and little-endian PowerPC kernels.
With this patch applied, we will do the right thing in all four combinations.

The commit 1d3ee88ae0
(bonding: add netlink attributes to slave link dev)
has add rtmsg_ifinfo() in bond_set_active_slave() and
bond_set_backup_slave(), so the two function need to
called in RTNL lock, but bond_loadbalance_arp_mon()
only calling these functions in RCU, warning message
will occurs.
fix this by add a new function bond_slave_state_change(),
which will reset the slave's state after slave link check,
so remove the bond_set_xxx_slave() from the cycle and only
record the slave_state_changed, this will call the new
function to set all slaves to new state in RTNL later.

A file descriptor opened for /dev/net/tun and a tun device are
connected with ioctl. Though understanding the connection is
important for trouble shooting, no way is given to a user to know
the connected device for a given file descriptor at userland.
This patch adds a new fdinfo field for the device name connected to
a file descriptor opened for /dev/net/tun.
Here is an example of the field:
# lsof | grep tun
qemu-syst 4565 qemu 25u CHR 10,200 0t138 12921 /dev/net/tun
...
# cat /proc/4565/fdinfo/25

flags: 0104002
iff: vnet0
# ip link show dev vnet0
8: vnet0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 ...
changelog:
v2: indent iff just like the other fdinfo fields are.
v3: remove unused variable.

just added two patches today which are the wiring up of lockref for

is trivial.
The highlights are, in addition to a bunch of bug fixes:
- Reworked Machine Check handling on kernels running without a
hypervisor (or acting as a hypervisor). Provides hooks to handle
some errors in real mode such as TLB errors, handle SLB errors,
etc...
- Support for retrieving memory error information from the service

This patch removes grant transfer releasing code from netfront, and uses
gnttab_end_foreign_access to end grant access since
gnttab_end_foreign_access_ref may fail when the grant entry is
currently used for reading or writing.
* clean up grant transfer code kept from old netfront(2.6.18) which grants
pages for access/map and transfer. But grant transfer is deprecated in current
netfront, so remove corresponding release code for transfer.
* fix resource leak, release grant access (through gnttab_end_foreign_access)
and skb for tx/rx path, use get_page to ensure page is released when grant
access is completed successfully.
Xen-blkfront/xen-tpmfront/xen-pcifront also have similar issue, but patches
for them will be created separately.
V6: Correct subject line and commit message.
V5: Remove unecessary change in xennet_end_access.
V4: Revert put_page in gnttab_end_foreign_access, and keep netfront change in
single patch.

grant acess is ended.

Currently we're calling it from under RCU context, however we're using some
functions that require rtnl to be held.
Fix this by restructuring the locking - don't call it under any locks,
aquire rcu_read_lock() if we're sending _only_ (i.e. we have the active
slave present), and use rtnl locking otherwise - if we need to modify
(in)active flags of a slave.

however to work with curr_active_slave we're still holding the

To remove that curr_slave_lock - rcu_dereference the bond's

go away, and we don't care if it will change in the meanwhile.

Submission d9aee59 "bnx2x: Don't release PCI bars on shutdown" separated
the PCI remove and shutdown flows, but pci_disable_device() is still
being called on both.
As a result, a dev_WARN_ONCE will be hit during shutdown for every bnx2x
VF probed on a hypervisor (as its shutdown callback will be called and later
pci_disable_sriov() will call its remove callback).
This calls the pci_disable_device() only on the remove flow.

As part of a workaround for a hardware erratum in the SFC9100 family
(SF bug 35388), the TX_DESC_UPD_DWORD register address is also used
for communicating with the event block, and only descriptor pointer
values < 2048 are valid.
If the TX DMA ring size is increased to 4096 descriptors (which the
firmware still allows) then we may write a descriptor pointer
value >= 2048, which has entirely different and undesirable effects!
Limit the TX DMA ring size correctly when this workaround is in
effect.

Pull Xen updates from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk:
"Two major features that Xen community is excited about:
The first is event channel scalability by David Vrabel - we switch
over from an two-level per-cpu bitmap of events (IRQs) - to an FIFO
queue with priorities. This lets us be able to handle more events,
have lower latency, and better scalability. Good stuff.
The other is PVH by Mukesh Rathor. In short, PV is a mode where the
kernel lets the hypervisor program page-tables, segments, etc. With
EPT/NPT capabilities in current processors, the overhead of doing this
in an HVM (Hardware Virtual Machine) container is much lower than the
hypervisor doing it for us.
In short we let a PV guest run without doing page-table, segment,
syscall, etc updates through the hypervisor - instead it is all done
within the guest container. It is a "hybrid" PV - hence the 'PVH'
name - a PV guest within an HVM container.
The major benefits are less code to deal with - for example we only
use one function from the the pv_mmu_ops (which has 39 function
calls); faster performance for syscall (no context switches into the
hypervisor); less traps on various operations; etc.
It is still being baked - the ABI is not yet set in stone. But it is
pretty awesome and we are excited about it.
Lastly, there are some changes to ARM code - you should get a simple
conflict which has been resolved in #linux-next.
In short, this pull has awesome features.
Features:
- FIFO event channels. Key advantages: support for over 100,000

A patch for fixing a race between queue selection and changing queues
was introduced in commit 92bb73ea2("tuntap: fix a possible race between
queue selection and changing queues").
The fix was to prevent the driver from re-reading the tun->numqueues
more than once within tun_select_queue() using ACCESS_ONCE().
We have been experiancing 'Divide-by-zero' errors in tun_net_xmit()
since we moved from 3.6 to 3.10, and believe that they come from a
simular source where the value of tun->numqueues changes to zero
between the first and a subsequent read of tun->numqueues.
The fix is a simular use of ACCESS_ONCE(), as well as a multiply
instead of a divide in the if statement.

As per suggestion from Eric W. Biederman, vxlan should be using
{un,}register_pernet_subsys() instead of {un,}register_pernet_device()
to ensure the vxlan_net structure is initialized before and cleaned
up after all network devices in a given network namespace i.e. when
dealing with network notifiers. This is similarly handeled already in
commit 91e2ff3528 ("net: Teach vlans to cleanup as a pernet subsystem")
and, thus, improves upon fd27e0d44a ("net: vxlan: do not use vxlan_net
before checking event type"). Just as in 91e2ff3528, we do not need
to explicitly handle deletion of vxlan devices as network namespace
exit calls dellink on all remaining virtual devices, and
rtnl_link_unregister() calls dellink on all outstanding devices in that
network namespace, so we can entirely drop the pernet exit operation
as well. Moreover, on vxlan module exit, rcu_barrier() is called by
netns since commit 3a765edadb ("netns: Add an explicit rcu_barrier
to unregister_pernet_{device|subsys}"), so this may be omitted. Tested
with various scenarios and works well on my side.

This patch adds the necessary basic infrastructure to support
centralized and unified option manipulation API for the bonding. The new
structure bond_option will be used to describe each option with its
dependencies on modes which will be checked automatically thus removing a
lot of duplicated code. Also automatic range checking is added for
some options. Currently the option setting function requires RTNL to
be acquired prior to calling it, since many options already rely on RTNL
it seemed like the best choice to protect all against common race
conditions.
In order to add an option the following steps need to be done:
1. Add an entry BOND_OPT_<option> to bond_options.h so it gets a unique id
and a bit corresponding to the id
2. Add a bond_option entry to the bond_opts[] array in bond_options.c which
describes the option, its dependencies and its manipulation function
3. Add code to export the option through sysfs and/or as a module parameter
(the sysfs export will be made automatically in the future)
The options can have different flags set, currently the following are
supported:
BOND_OPTFLAG_NOSLAVES - require that the bond device has no slaves prior
to setting the option
BOND_OPTFLAG_IFDOWN - require that the bond device is down prior to
setting the option
BOND_OPTFLAG_RAWVAL - don't parse the value but return it raw for the
option to parse
There's a new value structure to describe different types of values
which can have the following flags:
BOND_VALFLAG_DEFAULT - marks the default option (permanent string alias
to this option is "default")
BOND_VALFLAG_MIN - the minimum value that this option can have
BOND_VALFLAG_MAX - the maximum value that this option can have
An example would be nice here, so if we have an option which can have
the values "off"(2), "special"(4, default) and supports a range, say
16 - 32, it should be defined as follows:
"off", 2,
"special", 4, BOND_VALFLAG_DEFAULT,
"rangemin", 16, BOND_VALFLAG_MIN,
"rangemax", 32, BOND_VALFLAG_MAX
So we have the valid intervals: [2, 2], [4, 4], [16, 32]
Also the valid strings: "off" = 2, "special" and "default" = 4
"rangemin" = 16, "rangemax" = 32
BOND_VALFLAG_(MIN|MAX) can be used to specify a valid range for an
option, if MIN is omitted then 0 is considered as a minimum. If an
exact match is found in the values[] table it will be returned,
otherwise the range is tried (if available).
The option parameter passing is done by using a special structure called
bond_opt_value which can take either a string or a value to parse. One
of the bond_opt_init(val|str) macros should be used depending on which
one does the user want to parse (string or value). Then a call to
__bond_opt_set should be done under RTNL.

Jakub Zawadzki noticed that some divisions by reciprocal_divide()
were not correct [1][2], which he could also show with BPF code
after divisions are transformed into reciprocal_value() for runtime
invariance which can be passed to reciprocal_divide() later on;
reverse in BPF dump ended up with a different, off-by-one K in
some situations.
This has been fixed by Eric Dumazet in commit aee636c480
("bpf: do not use reciprocal divide"). This follow-up patch
improves reciprocal_value() and reciprocal_divide() to work in
all cases by using Granlund and Montgomery method, so that also
future use is safe and without any non-obvious side-effects.
Known problems with the old implementation were that division by 1
always returned 0 and some off-by-ones when the dividend and divisor
where very large. This seemed to not be problematic with its
current users, as far as we can tell. Eric Dumazet checked for
the slab usage, we cannot surely say so in the case of flex_array.
Still, in order to fix that, we propose an extension from the
original implementation from commit 6a2d7a955d resp. [3][4],
by using the algorithm proposed in "Division by Invariant Integers
Using Multiplication" [5], Torbjörn Granlund and Peter L.
Montgomery, that is, pseudocode for q = n/d where q, n, d is in
u32 universe:
1) Initialization:
int l = ceil(log_2 d)
uword m' = floor((1<<32)*((1<<l)-d)/d)+1
int sh_1 = min(l,1)
int sh_2 = max(l-1,0)
2) For q = n/d, all uword:
uword t = (n*m')>>32
q = (t+((n-t)>>sh_1))>>sh_2
The assembler implementation from Agner Fog [6] also helped a lot
while implementing. We have tested the implementation on x86_64,
ppc64, i686, s390x; on x86_64/haswell we're still half the latency
compared to normal divide.
Joint work with Daniel Borkmann.

Many functions have open coded a function that returns a random
number in range [0,N-1]. Under the assumption that we have a PRNG
such as taus113 with being well distributed in [0, ~0U] space,
we can implement such a function as uword t = (n*m')>>32, where
m' is a random number obtained from PRNG, n the right open interval
border and t our resulting random number, with n,m',t in u32 universe.
Lets go with Joe and simply call it prandom_u32_max(), although
technically we have an right open interval endpoint, but that we
have documented. Other users can further be migrated to the new
prandom_u32_max() function later on; for now, we need to make sure
to migrate reciprocal_divide() users for the reciprocal_divide()
follow-up fixup since their function signatures are going to change.

This is a fix to a regression introduced by commit:
"982290a net/mlx4_core: Check port number for validity
before accessing data"
IPoIB could not attach to multicast group and we get this in dmesg:
[144214.145008] ib0: failed to attach to multicast group, ret = -22
[144214.145016] ib0: couldn't attach QP to multicast group ff12:401b:ffff:0000:0000:0000:ffff:ffff
[144214.145019] ib0: multicast join failed for ff12:401b:ffff:0000:0000:0000:ffff:ffff, status -22
The cause to the problem is because port is extracted from gid[5].
Which is only valid for Ethernet.
Removed this validation in mlx4_qp_attach_common(), which is accessed
from both Ethernet and IB flows.
Error flow for bad port value in Ethernet is already exists in that
function.

When a VF originating from a given PF is flr-ed, that PF gets an interrupt
from the chip management and takes a part in the flr process.
This patch fixes several corner cases in which the driver performs its part
of the flr flow out-of-order, causing the FW to assert due to badly timed
messages received from the driver.

None of the devices supported by iwldvm have support for
shadow registers. This means that we wake the NIC
when we increment the write pointer on Tx ring.
This happened even before my bad commit mentionned below.
Since my commit below, we wake up the NIC when we put a
host command on the ring regardless of shadow register
support. This means that in iwldvm (when the NIC doesn't
support shadow register), we wake up the NIC twice:
pcie_enqueue_hcmd:
wake up the NIC
iwl_pcie_txq_inc_wr_ptr:
wake up the NIC - no shadow reg support
Since waking up the NIC means that we need to acquire a
spinlock, this obviously leads to a recursive spinlock
and hence a freeze.

When timestamping is enabled, stmmac_tx_clean will call
stmmac_get_tx_hwtstamp to get tx TS.
But the skb can be NULL because the last of its tx_skbuff is NULL
if this packet frame is filled in more than one descriptors.
To fix the issue, change the code:
- Store TX skb to the tx_skbuff[] of frame's last segment.
- Check skb is not NULL in stmmac_get_tx_hwtstamp.

The Allwinner A20 has an ethernet controller that seems to be
an early version of Synopsys DesignWare MAC 10/100/1000 Universal,
which is supported by the stmmac driver.
Allwinner's GMAC requires setting additional registers in the SoC's
clock control unit.
The exact version of the DWMAC IP that Allwinner uses is unknown,
thus the exact feature set is unknown.

IP based RoCE gids don't store Ethernet L2 parameters, MAC and VLAN.
Therefore, we need to extract them from the CQE and place them in
struct ib_wc (to be used for cases were they were taken from the gid).
Also, when modifying a QP or building address handle, instead of
parsing the dgid to get the MAC and VLAN, take them from the address
handle attributes.
