The workqueue handler may call appledisplay_bl_get_brightness() while
user space calls appledisplay_bl_update_status(). As they share a
buffer that must not happen. Use a mutex for mutual exclusion.

The Kconfig entries for USB_U132_HCD and USB_FTDI_ELAN default to
(uppercase) "M". But in Kconfig (lowercase) "m" is a magic symbol. "M"
is an ordinary symbol. As "M" is never set these Kconfig symbols will
also not be set by default.
Since I'm not aware of a reason why these driver should be set by
default, let's just drop these lines (that basically do nothing).

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.

bug has been in the code since 3.9. You've been asking me to hold off
on non-urgent bug fixes after -rc4/-rc5, so it can go into usb-next, and
be backported to stable once 3.14 is out.

oops, but it turned out to be a bug in 3.12, and therefore not related

In test_halt() we set an endpoint halt condition and return on halt verification
failure, then the enpoint will remain halted and all further tests related
to that enpoint will fail. This is because we don't tackle endpoint halt error condition
in any of the tests. To avoid that situation, make sure to clear the
halt condition before exiting test_halt().

Commit c952a8ba71 "usb: usbtest: add a
test case to support bos for queue control" will cause USB 2.01 and USB
2.10 devices with a BOS descriptor to fail case 15 of the control test.
The Link PM errata (released in 2007, updated in 2011) says:
"The value of the bcdUSB field in the standard USB 2.0 Device Descriptor
is used to indicate that the device supports the request to read the BOS
Descriptor (i.e. GetDescriptor(BOS)). Devices that support the BOS
descriptor must have a bcdUSB value of 0201H or larger."
The current code says that non-SuperSpeed devices *must* return -EPIPE,
as this comment shows:

This means the test will fail with USB 2.01 and USB 2.10 devices that

The USB3503 driver had an incorrect depedency on REGMAP, instead of

When transfer type is isochronous, the other bits (bits 5..2) of
bmAttributes in endpoint descriptor might not be set zero. So it's better
to use usb_endpoint_type routine to mask bmAttributes with
USB_ENDPOINT_XFERTYPE_MASK to judge the transfter type later.

The USB Embedded High-speed Host Electrical Test (EHSET) defines the
SINGLE_STEP_SET_FEATURE test as follows:
1) The host enumerates the test device with VID:0x1A0A, PID:0x0108
2) The host sends the SETUP stage of a GetDescriptor(Device)
3) The device ACKs the request
4) The host issues SOFs for 15 seconds allowing the test operator to
raise the scope trigger just above the SOF voltage level
5) The host sends the IN packet
6) The device sends data in response, triggering the scope
7) The host sends an ACK in response to the data
This patch adds additional handling to the EHCI hub driver and allows
the EHSET driver to initiate this test mode by issuing a a SetFeature
request to the root hub with a Test Selector value of 0x06. From there
it mimics ehci_urb_enqueue() but separately submits QTDs for the
SETUP and DATA/STATUS stages in order to insert a delay in between.

If the connect signal is pulled high then the device will start up meaning
that if we just pull it high on probe then the device will start running
prior to the configuration being written out. Fix this by pulling the GPIO
low when we reset and only pulling it high when configuration is finished.

An Embedded Host High-Speed Electrical Test (EHSET) test fixture is
used to initiate test modes on a host controller in order to perform
the high speed electrical testing procedure for USB-IF compliance.
When this test fixture is connected to a host, it can enumerate as
one of several selectable VID/PID pairs, each corresponding to one
of the following test modes:
* TEST_SE0_NAK
* TEST_J
* TEST_K
* TEST_PACKET
* HS_HOST_PORT_SUSPEND_RESUME
* SINGLE_STEP_GET_DEV_DESC
* SINGLE_STEP_SET_FEATURE

We want to get rid of CONFIG_USB_DEBUG, so remove the reliance of the
ldusb driver on it. Don't use the custom macro, or a special module
parameter, instead, rely on the in-kernel dynamic debugging
infrastructure, which is much easier to use, and consistant across the
whole kernel.

The current Makefile rules to build font support are messy and buggy.
Replace them by Kconfig rules:
- Introduce CONFIG_FONT_SUPPORT, which controls the building of all font
code,
- Select CONFIG_FONT_SUPPORT for all drivers that use fonts,
- Select CONFIG_FONT_8x16 for all drivers that default to the VGA8x16
font,
- Drop the bogus console dependency for CONFIG_VIDEO_VIVI,
- Always process drivers/video/console/Makefile, as some drivers need
fonts even if CONFIG_VT is not set.
This fixes (if CONFIG_SOLO6X10=y and there are no built-in console
drivers):

The usb3503 driver sleeps a flat 100ms when resetting the chip, with a
comment about waiting for the reference clock. This seems to be a
board-specific detail that should not hold up boot across all platforms.
This patch reduces the sleep to the 4ms initialization delay that the
chip itself actually requires (as per its data sheet). If certain boards
require more time to set up the reference clock, they should change this
through local patches or add a proper, configurable synchronization
mechanism.

This patch is to add a property 'disabled-ports' representing the unused port
of USB3503. USB3503 can support up to 3 USB host port and each ports can be
controlled to be enabled or disabled. Do not describe this property if all
ports must be enabled.
You can represent the ports to disable in the device tree.

This patch removes the depends on USB from all config symbols in
drivers/usb/host/Kconfig and replace that with an if USB / endif block
as suggested by Alan Stern. Some source ... Kconfig lines have been
shuffled around to permit a better regroupment of the Kconfig files
depending on "config USB" item. No functionnal change is introduced.

A failed kzalloc() is reported with a dev_err that dereferences the null
sisusb, this will cause a NULL pointer deference error.

The usbtest driver includes some rather simple-minded logic for
selecting an altsetting to test. It doesn't work well for the g_zero
gadget, because it selects altsetting 0 (which doesn't have
isochronous endpoints) rather than altsetting 1 (which does have them,
if the gadget's hardware supports them). This prevents usbtest's
isochronous tests (15, 16, 22, and 23) from working with g_zero.
Since g_zero is one of the most common gadget drivers used for USB
testing, usbtest should do a better job of supporting it. But since
some programs may rely on the current scheme for selecting
altsettings, I didn't want to change it.
Instead, this patch (as1655) adds a module parameter to usbtest, which
can be used to override the default altsetting. Since usbtest is
never used by normal users (most distributions probably don't even
build it), the new module parameter won't inconvenience anybody. In
any case, it is entirely optional -- leaving it unset preserves the
existing behavior.
The patch also fixes a related bug in usbtest: After selecting an
altsetting, the driver neglects to store its selection.

This patch adds new driver of SMSC USB3503 USB 2.0 hub controller with HSIC
upstream connectivity and three USB 2.0 downstream ports. The specification
can be found from 'http://www.smsc.com/index.php?tid=295&pid=325'.
The current version have been tested very basic features switching the modes,
HUB-MODE and STANDBY-MODE.

since commit b4036cc (usb: gadget: add
isochronous support to gadget zero), g_zero
has learned about isochronous transfers, which
allows us to use usbtest.ko to exercise
isochronous pipes.
All we need to do to enable that functionality
on usbtest.ko, is set the "iso" to 1 on
struct usbtest_info

When the ezusb code was split out, support was added for the fx2 chip
type, but no one is using these functions, so comment it out. If
someone needs it, it can be added back in the future.
Also properly include <linux/usb/ezusb.h> into the ezusb.c file, to
ensure we catch any function prototype mis-matches
