Alexander Duyck 2f8214fe68 ixgbevf: Use mac_ops instead of trying to identify NIC type
This change makes it so that we can just use function pointers instead of
having to identify if a given VF is running on a Linux or Windows PF. By
doing this we can avoid having to pull too much information out of the
lower layers and can instead just make use of the mac_ops pointers since
they should differ between the two types of VFs anyway.

Stefan Assmann 324d086709 ixgbevf: call ndo_stop() instead of dev_close() when running offline selftest
Calling dev_close() causes IFF_UP to be cleared which will remove the
interfaces routes and some addresses. That's probably not what the user
intended when running the offline selftest. Besides this does not happen
if the interface is brought down before the test, so the current
behaviour is inconsistent.
Instead call the net_device_ops ndo_stop function directly and avoid
touching IFF_UP at all.

This patch is the ixgbevf version of commit 8ac34f10a5 "ixgbe: Limit

Hiroshi Shimamoto 8443c1a4b1 ixgbe, ixgbevf: Add new mbox API xcast mode
The limitation of the number of multicast address for VF is not enough
for the large scale server with SR-IOV feature. IPv6 requires the multicast
MAC address for each IP address to handle the Neighbor Solicitation
message. We couldn't assign over 30 IPv6 addresses to a single VF.

This patch introduces the new mailbox API, IXGBE_VF_UPDATE_XCAST_MODE,
to update multicast mode of VF. This adds 3 modes;
  - NONE only L2 exact match addresses or Flow Director enabled
  - MULTI BAM and ROMPE set
  - ALLMULTI BAM, ROMPE and MPE set

If a guest VF user wants over 30 MAC multicast addresses, set IFF_ALLMULTI
to request PF to update xcast mode to enable VF multicast promiscuous mode.

On the other hand, enabling VF multicast promiscuous mode may affect
security and performance in the network of the NIC. Only trusted VF can
enable multicast promiscuous mode. The behavior of untrusted VF is the
same as previous version.

Emil Tantilov 9cba434f63 ixgbevf: add support for reporting RSS key and hash table for X550
This patch extends the reporting of the RSS key and hash table by
adding support for X550 VFs. The difference is that X550 VFs have
their own registers for RSS key and indirection table, so there is
no need to query the PF.

The RSS key and indirection table are stored in the adapter structure
during the configuration of VFRSSRK and VFRETA which in turn can be
used in ethtool for reporting.

The logic for writing VFRETA is also changed to make sure that the
indirection table is reported correctly.

In addition this patch adds defines for the VFRETA entries and number
of VFRSSRK registers as well as some whitespace cleanups.

Emil Tantilov bad17234ba ixgbevf: Change receive model to use double buffered page based receives
This patch changes the basic receive path for ixgbevf so that instead of
receiving the data into an skb it is received into a double buffered page.
The main change is that the receives will be done in pages only and then
pull the header out of the page and copy it into the sk_buff data.

This has the advantages of reduced cache misses and improved performance on
IOMMU enabled systems.

v2:
- added pfmemalloc check to a new function for reusable page
- moved atomic_inc outside of #if/else in ixgbevf_add_rx_frag()
- reverted the removal of the api check in ixgbevf_change_mtu()

because register accesses prior to that time can detect a removal

Don Skidmore 5cdab2f620 ixgbe: Focus config of head, tail ntc, and ntu all into a single function
This patch makes it so that head, tail, next to clean, and next to use are
all reset in a single function for the Tx or Rx path. Previously the code
for this was spread out over several areas which could make it difficult to
track what the values for these were.

Don Skidmore f880d07bc5 ixgbe: cleanup IXGBE_DESC_UNUSED
This patch just replaces the IXGBE_DESC_UNUSED macro with a like named
inline function ixgbevf_desc_unused. The inline function makes the logic
a bit more readable.

Don Skidmore 44bd741e10 ixgbevf: Add zero_base handler to network statistics
This patch removes the need to keep a zero_base variable in the adapter
structure. Now we just use two different macros to set the non-zero and
zero base. This adds to readability and shortens some of the structure
initialization under 80 columns. The gathering of status for ethtool was
slightly modified to again better fit into 80 columns and become a bit
more readable.

Jacob Keller 3b5dca262f ixgbevf: add BP_EXTENDED_STATS for CONFIG_NET_RX_BUSY_POLL
This patch adds the extended statistics similar to the ixgbe driver. These
statistics keep track of how often the busy polling yields, as well as how many
packets are cleaned or missed by the polling routine.

Jacob Keller c777cdfa4e ixgbevf: implement CONFIG_NET_RX_BUSY_POLL
This patch enables CONFIG_NET_RX_BUSY_POLL support in the VF code. This enables
sockets which have enabled the SO_BUSY_POLL socket option to use the
ndo_busy_poll_recv operation which could result in lower latency, at the cost
of higher CPU utilization, and increased power usage. This support is similar
to how the ixgbe driver works.

Jacob Keller 3849623e03 ixgbevf: implement ethtool get/set coalesce

the ixgbevf driver. This enables dynamically updating the minimum time between
interrupts.

Joe Perches 5ccc921af4 intel: Remove extern from function prototypes
There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern
in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for
function prototypes.

Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern.
extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as
using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block.

Alexander Duyck e757e3e198 ixgbevf: Make next_to_watch a pointer and adjust memory barriers to avoid races
This change is meant to address several race issues that become possible
because next_to_watch could possibly be set to a value that shows that the
descriptor is done when it is not. In order to correct that we instead make
next_to_watch a pointer that is set to NULL during cleanup, and set to the
eop_desc after the descriptor rings have been written.

To enforce proper ordering the next_to_watch pointer is not set until after
a wmb writing the values to the last descriptor in a transmit. In order to
guarantee that the descriptor is not read until after the eop_desc we use the
read_barrier_depends which is only really necessary on the alpha architecture.
