Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1f2c450185 [media] vb2-core: call threadio->fnc() if !VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR
changeset 70433a152f ("media: videobuf2: Refactor vb2_fileio_data
and vb2_thread") broke videobuf2-dvb.

The root cause is that, instead of calling threadio->fnc() for
all types of events except for VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR, it was calling
it only for VB2_BUF_STATE_DONE.

With that, the DVB thread were never called.

Hans Verkuil fac710e45d [media] vb2: fix nasty vb2_thread regression
The vb2_thread implementation was made generic and was moved from
videobuf2-v4l2.c to videobuf2-core.c in commit af3bac1a. Unfortunately
that clearly was never tested since it broke read() causing NULL address
references.

The root cause was confused handling of vb2_buffer vs v4l2_buffer (the pb
pointer in various core functions).

The v4l2_buffer no longer exists after moving the code into the core and
it is no longer needed. However, the vb2_thread code passed a pointer to
a vb2_buffer to the core functions were a v4l2_buffer pointer was expected
and vb2_thread expected that the vb2_buffer fields would be filled in
correctly.

This is obviously wrong since v4l2_buffer != vb2_buffer. Note that the
pb pointer is a void pointer, so no type-checking took place.

This patch fixes this problem:

1) allow pb to be NULL for vb2_core_(d)qbuf. The vb2_thread code will use
a NULL pointer here since they don't care about v4l2_buffer anyway.
2) let vb2_core_dqbuf pass back the index of the received buffer. This is
all vb2_thread needs: this index is the index into the q->bufs array
and vb2_thread just gets the vb2_buffer from there.
3) the fileio->b pointer (that originally contained a v4l2_buffer) is
removed altogether since it is no longer needed.

Tested with vivid and the cobalt driver.

Arnd Bergmann 7c8fe516bd [media] v4l: remove MEDIA_TUNER dependency for VIDEO_TUNER
em28xx selects VIDEO_TUNER, which has a dependency on MEDIA_TUNER,
so we get a Kconfig warning if that is disabled:

Pull second batch of media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
"This is the second part of the media patches. It contains the media
controller next generation patches, with is the result of one year of
discussions and development. It also contains patches to enable media
controller support at the DVB subsystem.

The goal is to improve the media controller to allow proper support
for other types of Video4Linux devices (radio and TV ones) and to
extend the media controller functionality to allow it to be used by
other subsystems like DVB, ALSA and IIO.

In order to use the new functionality, a new ioctl is needed
(MEDIA_IOC_G_TOPOLOGY). As we're still discussing how to pack the
struct fields of this ioctl in order to avoid compat32 issues, I
decided to add a patch at the end of this series commenting out the
new ioctl, in order to postpone the addition of the new ioctl to the
  next Kernel version (4.6).

With that, no userspace visible changes should happen at the media
controller API, as the existing ioctls are untouched. Yet, it helps
DVB, ALSA and IIO developers to develop and test the patches adding
media controller support there, as the core will contain all required
internal changes to allow adding support for devices that belong to
  those subsystems"

Sakari Ailus bdf5c19826 [media] v4l2-device: Register entity before calling subdev's registered ops
Registering a V4L2 sub-device includes, among other things, registering
the related media entity and calling the sub-device's registered op. Since
patch "media: convert links from array to list", creating a link between
two pads requires registering the entity first. If the registered() op
involves link creation, the link list head will not be initialised before
it is used.

Resolve this by first registering the entity, then calling its
registered() op.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab ab22e77cd3 [media] media framework: rename pads init function to media_entity_pads_init()
With the MC next gen rework, what's left for media_entity_init()
is to just initialize the PADs. However, certain devices, like
a FLASH led/light doesn't have any input or output PAD.

So, there's no reason why calling media_entity_init() would be
mandatory. Also, despite its name, what this function actually
does is to initialize the PADs data. So, rename it to
media_entity_pads_init() in order to reflect that.

The media entity actual init happens during entity register,
at media_device_register_entity(). We should move init of
num_links and num_backlinks to it.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 13f6e8887a [media] v4l2 core: enable all interface links at init
Interface links are normally enabled, meaning that the interfaces are
bound to the entities. So, any ioctl send to the interface are reflected
at the entities managed by the interface.

However, when a device is used, other interfaces for the same hardware
could be decoupled from the entities linked to them, because the
hardware may have some parts busy.

That's for example, what happens when an hybrid TV device is in use.
If it is streaming analog TV or capturing signals from S-Video/Composite
connectors, typically the digital part of the hardware can't be used and
vice-versa.

This is generally due to some internal hardware or firmware limitation,
that it is not easily mapped via data pipelines.

What the Kernel drivers do internally is that they decouple the hardware
from the interface. So, all changes, if allowed, are done only at some
interface cache, but not physically changed at the hardware.

The usage is similar to the usage of the MEDIA_LNK_FL_ENABLED on data
links. So, let's use the same flag to indicate if either the interface
to entity link is bound/enabled or not.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 1809510715 [media] media: get rid of unused "extra_links" param on media_entity_init()
Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links,
allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links)
that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this
is not used by any driver.

As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal,
we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So,
before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused
parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first.

Hans Verkuil 58e1ba3ce6 [media] videobuf2-core: fix plane_sizes handling in VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS
The handling of q->plane_sizes was wrong in vb2_core_create_bufs().
The q->plane_sizes array was global and it was overwritten by create_bufs.
So if reqbufs was called with e.g. size 100000 then q->plane_sizes[0] would
be set to 100000. If create_bufs was called afterwards with size 200000,
then q->plane_sizes[0] would be overwritten with the new value. Calling
create_bufs again for size 100000 would cause an error since 100000 is now
less than q->plane_sizes[0].

This patch fixes this problem by 1) removing q->plane_sizes and using the
vb->planes[].length field instead, and 2) by introducing a min_length field
in struct vb2_plane. This field is set to the plane size as returned by
the queue_setup op and is the minimum required plane size. So user pointers
or dmabufs should all be at least this size.

Hans Verkuil df9ecb0cad [media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setup
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2
and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to
VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information
from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format.

After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer,
which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will
effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format.

To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed:
the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument
is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then
it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array
contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return
-EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s).

Hans Verkuil 4623e59674 [media] vb2: fix a regression in poll() behavior for output, streams
In the 3.17 kernel the poll() behavior changed for output streams:
as long as not all buffers were queued up poll() would return that
userspace can write. This is fine for the write() call, but when
using stream I/O this changed the behavior since the expectation
was that it would wait for buffers to become available for dequeuing.

This patch only enables the check whether you can queue buffers
for file I/O only, and skips it for stream I/O.

Changing the value using VIDIOC_S_EXT_CTRLS (like qv4l2 does) works
fine.

The apparent cause by looking at the changes in 5d0360a and comparing
with the code path for VIDIOC_S_EXT_CTRLS seems to be that the code in
v4l2-ctrls.c::set_ctrl() is not calling user_to_new() anymore after
calling update_from_auto_cluster(master).

However the root cause of the problem is that calling
update_from_auto_cluster(master) overrides also the _master_ control
state calling cur_to_new() while it was supposed to only update the
volatile controls.

Calling user_to_new() after update_from_auto_cluster(master) was just
masking the original bug by restoring the correct new value of the
master control before making the changes permanent.

Fix the original bug by making update_from_auto_cluster() not override
the new master control value.

Benoit Parrot a807773405 [media] media: v4l2-ctrls: Fix 64bit support in get_ctrl()
When trying to use v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64() to retrieve a
V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_INTEGER64 type value the internal helper function
get_ctrl() would prematurely exit because for this control type
the 'is_int' flag is not set. This would result in v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64
always returning 0.

Also v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64() is reading and returning the 32bit value
member instead of the 64bit version, so fixing that as well.

This patch extends the condition check to allow the V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_INTEGER64
type to continue processing instead of exiting.

Hans Verkuil 9ec32cc703 [media] v4l2-compat-ioctl32: replace pr_warn by pr_debug
Every time compat32 encounters an unknown ioctl it will call pr_warn.
However, that's very irritating since it is perfectly normal that this
happens. For example, applications often try to call an ioctl to see if
it exists, and if that's used with an older kernel where compat32 doesn't
support that ioctl yet, then it starts spamming the kernel log.

So replace pr_warn by pr_debug.

Jan Kara 0f6e2825ce [media] vb2: Push mmap_sem down to memops
Currently vb2 core acquires mmap_sem just around call to
__qbuf_userptr(). However since commit f035eb4e97 (videobuf2: fix
lockdep warning) it isn't necessary to acquire it so early as we no
longer have to drop queue mutex before acquiring mmap_sem. So push
acquisition of mmap_sem down into .get_userptr memop so that the
semaphore is acquired for a shorter time and it is clearer what it is
needed for.

Note that we also need mmap_sem in .put_userptr memop since that ends up
calling vb2_put_vma() which calls vma->vm_ops->close() which should be
called with mmap_sem held. However we didn't hold mmap_sem in some code
paths anyway (e.g. when called via vb2_ioctl_reqbufs() ->
__vb2_queue_free() -> vb2_dma_sg_put_userptr()) and getting mmap_sem in
put_userptr() introduces a lock inversion with queue->mmap_lock in the
above mentioned call path.

Luckily this whole locking mess will get resolved once we convert
videobuf2 core to the new mm helper which avoids the need for mmap_sem
in .put_userptr memop altogether.

Laurent Pinchart 2fa3dc4ea7 [media] vb2: Fix compilation breakage when !CONFIG_BUG
Commit 77a3c6fd90 ("[media] vb2: Don't WARN when v4l2_buffer.bytesused
is 0 for multiplanar buffers") uses the __WARN() macro which isn't
defined when CONFIG_BUG isn't set. This introduces a compilation
breakage. Fix it by using WARN_ON() instead.

The commit was also broken in that it merged v1 of the patch while a new
v2 version had been submitted, reviewed and acked. Fix it by
incorporating the changes from v1 to v2.

Philipp Zabel 2091f5181c [media] videobuf2: add trace events
Add videobuf2 specific vb2_qbuf and vb2_dqbuf trace events that mirror the
v4l2_qbuf and v4l2_dqbuf trace events, only they include additional
information about queue fill state and are emitted right before the buffer
is enqueued in the driver or userspace is woken up. This allows to make
sense of the timeline of trace events in combination with others that might
be triggered by __enqueue_in_driver.

Also two new trace events vb2_buf_queue and vb2_buf_done are added,
allowing to trace the handover between videobuf2 framework and driver.

Philipp Zabel c13a5ccf5d [media] v4l2-mem2mem: set the queue owner field just as vb2_ioctl_reqbufs does
The queue owner will be used by videobuf2 trace events to determine and
record the device minor number. It is set in v4l2_m2m_reqbufs instead of
v4l2_m2m_ioctl_reqbufs because several drivers implement their own
vidioc_reqbufs handlers that still call v4l2_m2m_reqbufs directly.

Lars-Peter Clausen 8ae5640f1b [media] Add helper function for subdev event notifications
Add a new helper function called v4l2_subdev_notify_event() which will
deliver the specified event to both the v4l2 subdev event queue as well as
to the notify callback. The former is typically used by userspace
applications to listen to notification events while the later is used by
bridge drivers. Combining both into the same function avoids boilerplate
code in subdev drivers.

Sakari Ailus 6d058c5643 [media] vb2: Only requeue buffers immediately once streaming is started
Buffers can be returned back to videobuf2 in driver's streamon handler. In
this case vb2_buffer_done() with buffer state VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED will
cause the driver's buf_queue vb2 operation to be called, queueing the same
buffer again only to be returned to videobuf2 using vb2_buffer_done() and so
on.

Add a new buffer state VB2_BUF_STATE_REQUEUEING which, when used as the
state argument to vb2_buffer_done(), will result in buffers queued to the
driver. Using VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED will leave the buffer to videobuf2, as it
was before "[media] vb2: allow requeuing buffers while streaming".

Prashant Laddha 5fea1bb703 [media] v4l2-dv-timings: add support for reduced blanking v2
Added support for reduced blanking version 2 (RB v2) in cvt timings.
Standard specifies a fixed vsync pulse of 8 lines to indicate RB v2
timings. Vertical back porch is fixed at 6 lines and vertical front
porch is remainder of vertical blanking time.

For RB v2, horizontal blanking is fixed at 80 pixels. Horizontal sync
is fixed at 32. All horizontal timing counts (active pixels, front,
back porches) can be specified upto a precision of 1.

RB v2 allows for non standard aspect ratios. In RB v2 vsync does not
indicate aspect ratio. In absence of aspect ratio v4l2_detect_cvt()
cannot calculate image width from image height. Hence extending the
v4l2_detect_cvt() to pass image width in case of RB v2.

Jacek Anaszewski 42bd6f59ae media: Add registration helpers for V4L2 flash sub-devices
This patch adds helper functions for registering/unregistering
LED Flash class devices as V4L2 sub-devices. The functions should
be called from the LED subsystem device driver. In case the
support for V4L2 Flash sub-devices is disabled in the kernel
config the functions' empty versions will be used.

Laurent Pinchart 77a3c6fd90 [media] vb2: Don't WARN when v4l2_buffer.bytesused is 0 for multiplanar buffers
Commit f61bf13b6a ("[media] vb2: add allow_zero_bytesused flag to the
vb2_queue struct") added a WARN_ONCE to catch usage of a deprecated API
using a zero value for v4l2_buffer.bytesused.

However, the condition is checked incorrectly, as the v4L2_buffer
bytesused field is supposed to be ignored for multiplanar buffers. This
results in spurious warnings when using the multiplanar API.

Fix it by checking v4l2_buffer.bytesused for uniplanar buffers and
v4l2_plane.bytesused for multiplanar buffers.
