powerpc updates for 5.3
Notable changes:
- Removal of the NPU DMA code, used by the out-of-tree Nvidia driver, as well
as some other functions only used by drivers that haven't (yet?) made it
upstream.
- A fix for a bug in our handling of hardware watchpoints (eg. perf record -e
mem: ...) which could lead to register corruption and kernel crashes.
- Enable HAVE_ARCH_HUGE_VMAP, which allows us to use large pages for vmalloc
when using the Radix MMU.
- A large but incremental rewrite of our exception handling code to use gas
macros rather than multiple levels of nested CPP macros.
And the usual small fixes, cleanups and improvements.

The recent rework of PCI kconfig symbols exposed an existing bug in
the CURRITUCK kconfig logic.
It selects PPC4xx_PCI_EXPRESS which depends on PCI, but PCI is user
selectable and might be disabled, leading to a warning:

Now that we've switched all the powerpc nommu and swiotlb methods to use the generic dma_direct_* calls we can remove these ops vectors entirely and rely on the common direct mapping bypass that avoids indirect function calls entirely. This also allows to remove a whole lot of boilerplate code related to setting up these operations. powerpc: Use of_node_name_eq for node name comparisons
Convert string compares of DT node names to use of_node_name_eq helper instead. This removes direct access to the node name pointer. PCI: consolidate PCI config entry in drivers/pci
There is no good reason to duplicate the PCI menu in every architecture. Instead provide a selectable HAVE_PCI symbol that indicates availability of PCI support, and a FORCE_PCI symbol to for PCI on and the handle the rest in drivers/pci. powerpc/44x/fsp2: tvsense workaround for dd1
TVSENSE(temperature and voltage sensors) reset is blocked (clock gated) by the POR default of the TVS sleep config bit. As a consequence, TVSENSE will provide erratic sensor values, which may result in spurious (parity) errors recorded in the CMU FIR and leading to erroneous interrupt requests once the CMU interrupt is unmasked. Purpose of this to set up CMU in working state in any cases even in case of parity errors. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. powerpc/44x: Move 44x machine check handlers into platforms/44x
We have several 44x machine check handlers defined in traps.c. It would be preferable if they were split out with the platforms that use them. Do that. In the process, drop get_mc_reason() and instead just open code the lookup of reason from regs->dsisr. This avoids a pointless layer of abstraction. powerpc: Move 32-bit probe() machine to later in the boot process
This converts all the 32-bit platforms to use the expanded device-tree which is a pretty mechanical change. Unlike 64-bit, the 32-bit kernel didn't rely on platform initializations to setup the MMU since it sets it up entirely before probe_machine() so the move has comparatively less consequences though it's a bigger patch. powerpc: Make ppc_md.{halt, restart} __noreturn
powernv marks it's halt and restart calls as __noreturn. However, ppc_md does not have this annotation. Add the annotation to ppc_md, and then to every halt/restart function that is missing it. Additionally, I have verified that all of these functions do not return. Occasionally I have added a spin loop to be sure. This replaces: - "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB" as this can now be selected directly. - "select ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB" with no dependency: GPIOLIB is now selectable by everyone, so we need not declare our intent to select it. When ordering the symbols the following rationale was used: if the selects were in alphabetical order, I moved select GPIOLIB to be in alphabetical order, but if the selects were not maintained in alphabetical order, I just replaced "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB". powerpc: Convert power off logic to pm_power_off
The generic Linux framework to power off the machine is a function pointer called pm_power_off. The trick about this pointer is that device drivers can potentially implement it rather than board files. Today on powerpc we set pm_power_off to invoke our generic full machine power off logic which then calls ppc_md.power_off to invoke machine specific power off. However, when we want to add a power off GPIO via the "gpio-poweroff" driver, this card house falls apart. That driver only registers itself if pm_power_off is NULL to ensure it doesn't override board specific logic. However, since we always set pm_power_off to the generic power off logic (which will just not power off the machine if no ppc_md.power_off call is implemented), we can't implement power off via the generic GPIO power off driver. To fix this up, let's get rid of the ppc_md.power_off logic and just always use pm_power_off as was intended. Then individual drivers such as the GPIO power off driver can implement power off logic via that function pointer. With this patch set applied and a few patches on top of QEMU that implement a power off GPIO on the virt e500 machine, I can successfully turn off my virtual machine after halt. IBM Akebono: Remove obsolete config select
The original implementation of MMC support for Akebono introduced a new configuration symbol (MMC_SDHCI_OF_476GTR). This symbol has been dropped in favour of using the generic platform driver however the select for this symbol was mistakenly left in the platform configuration. of_device_ids (i.e. compatible strings and the respective data) are not supposed to change at runtime. All functions working with of_device_ids provided by <linux/of.h> work with const of_device_ids. lib/scatterlist: make ARCH_HAS_SG_CHAIN an actual Kconfig
Rather than have architectures #define ARCH_HAS_SG_CHAIN in an architecture specific scatterlist.h, make it a proper Kconfig option and use that instead. At same time, remove the header files are are now mostly useless and just include asm-generic/scatterlist.h. ppc476: Enable a linker work around for IBM errata #46
This patch adds an option to enable a work around for an icache bug on 476 that can cause execution of stale instructions when falling through pages (IBM errata #46). It requires a recent version of binutils which supports the --ppc476-workaround option. The work around enables the appropriate linker options and ensures that all module output sections are aligned to 4K page boundaries. The work around is only required when building modules. powerpc: Added PCI MSI support using the HSTA module
The PPC476GTR SoC supports message signalled interrupts (MSI) by writing to special addresses within the High Speed Transfer Assist (HSTA) module. This patch adds support for PCI MSI with a new system device. The DMA window is also updated to allow access to the entire 42-bit address range to allow PCI devices write access to the HSTA module. IBM Currituck: Clean up board specific code before adding Akebono code
The IBM Akebono code uses the same initialisation functions as the earlier Currituck board. Rather than create a copy of this code for Akebono we will instead integrate support for it into the same file as the Currituck code. i2c: move OF helpers into the core
I2C of helpers used to live in of_i2c.c but experience (from SPI) shows that it is much cleaner to have this in the core. This also removes a circular dependency between the helpers and the core, and so we can finally register child nodes in the core instead of doing this manually in each driver.
