Devices might save and restore tuning values so that re-tuning might not be
needed after a pm transition. Let drivers decide by pushing the
mmc_retune_needed() logic down to them.

The delay loops for reset and clock enable always take at least 1 ms
because they use mdelay(1). However they can take a lot less time e.g. less
than 50us. Use ktime and reduce the delay to 10 microseconds per loop.

The 2835 has two SD controllers: The Arasan sdhci controller (supported
by the iproc driver) and a custom sdhost controller. This patch adds a
driver for the latter.
The sdhci controller supports both sdcard and sdio. The sdhost
controller supports the sdcard only, but has better performance. Also
note that the rpi3 has sdio wifi, so driving the sdcard with the sdhost
controller allows to use the sdhci controller for wifi support.
The configuration is done by devicetree via pin muxing. Both SD
controller are available on the same pins (2 pin groups = pin 22 to 27 +
pin 48 to 53). So it's possible to use both SD controllers at the same
time with different pin groups.
The code was originally written by Phil Elwell in the downstream
Rasbperry Pi tree. In preparation for the upstream merge it was
cleaned up and the code base was moderized by Eric Anholt, Stefan
Wahren and Gerd Hoffmann.

File contains multiple functions doing variations on the same thing,
sdio_readb(), sdio_writeb()f, sdio_readw(), sdio_writew()
etc. Although the functions have very similar logic the code is laid
out in a variety of ways. This makes it overly complicated to
read. There is a already a nice clean chunk of code, if we use this
format for all instances then we will have cleaned up the code,
reduced the line count and lessened the cognitive load required while
reading. Less lines equals less bugs.
Pick the most simple and clear code flow and change all functions to
be the same.

This patch fixes the case where meson_mmc_probe function fails before
core_clk is enabled.
Originally, that would result in a try to disable the core clock, and if
it was not already enabled, it would result in a kernel warning.
This issue is similar to the one with div_clk.
Fix it by introducing another error path used only between successfully
enabling the core clock, and successfully enabling the div clock.
That would ensure that core clock is disabled only if it was enabled before.

The device tree binding for the SDHCI controller found on Tegra SoCs
specifies that a reset control can be provided by the device tree. No
code was ever added to support the module reset, which can cause the
driver to try and access registers from a module that's in reset. On
most Tegra SoC generations doing so would cause a hang.
Note that it's unlikely to see this happen because on most platforms
these resets will have been deasserted by the bootloader. However the
portability can be improved by making sure the driver deasserts the
reset before accessing any registers.
Since resets are synchronous on Tegra SoCs, the platform driver needs
to implement a custom ->remove() callback now to make sure the clock
is disabled after the reset is asserted.

After we received the dataend interrupt, R1 response register carries
the value from the automatically generated stop command. Report that
info back to the MMC block layer, so we will be notified in case of e.g.
ECC errors which happened during the last transfer.

The current code assumes that DMA is finished before SD access end is
flagged. Thus, it schedules the 'dma_complete' tasklet in the SD card
interrupt routine when DATAEND is set. The assumption is not safe,
though. Even by mounting an SD card, it can be seen that sometimes DMA
complete is first, sometimes DATAEND. It seems they are usually close
enough timewise to not cause problems. However, a customer reported that
with CMD53 sometimes things really break apart. As a result, the BSP has
a patch which introduces flags for both events and makes sure both flags
are set before scheduling the tasklet. The customer accepted the patch,
yet it doesn't seem a proper upstream solution to me.
This patch refactors the code to replace the tasklet with already
existing and more lightweight mechanisms. First of all, we set the
callback in a DMA descriptor to automatically get notified when DMA is
done. In the callback, we then use a completion to make sure the SD
access has already ended. Then, we proceed as before.

Config values which are not changed during runtime we can set
in the probe function already.
The block size setting is overwritten later in
meson_mmc_start_cmd anyway if needed, so it doesn't harm if we
remove this setting in meson_mmc_set_ios.
In addition write config register only if configuration changed.
Don't change the location of clock initialization as in an
earlier version of the patch, this change causes a hang.

The condition should be "if (ret)" as the disable/unprepare is
supposed to be executed if the previous command fails.
In addition adjust the error path in probe to properly deal
with the case that cfg_div_clk can be registered successfully
but enable/prepare fails.
In this case we shouldn't call clk_disable_unprepare.

Currently for DDR50 card, it need tuning in default. We meet tuning fail
issue for DDR50 card and some data CRC error when DDR50 sd card works.
This is because the default pad I/O drive strength can't make sure DDR50
card work stable. So increase the pad I/O drive strength for DDR50 card,
and use pins_100mhz.
This fixes DDR50 card support for IMX since DDR50 tuning was enabled from
commit 9faac7b95e ("mmc: sdhci: enable tuning for DDR50")

When the kernel is running in secure boot mode, we lock down the kernel to
prevent userspace from modifying the running kernel image. Whilst this
includes prohibiting access to things like /dev/mem, it must also prevent
access by means of configuring driver modules in such a way as to cause a
device to access or modify the kernel image.
To this end, annotate module_param* statements that refer to hardware
configuration and indicate for future reference what type of parameter they
specify. The parameter parser in the core sees this information and can
skip such parameters with an error message if the kernel is locked down.
The module initialisation then runs as normal, but just sees whatever the
default values for those parameters is.
Note that we do still need to do the module initialisation because some
drivers have viable defaults set in case parameters aren't specified and
some drivers support automatic configuration (e.g. PNP or PCI) in addition
to manually coded parameters.
This patch annotates drivers in drivers/mmc/host/.

According to the SDIO standard interrupts are normally signalled in a
very complicated way. They require the card clock to be running and
require the controller to be paying close attention to the signals
coming from the card. This simply can't happen with the clock stopped
or with the controller in a low power mode.
To that end, we'll disable runtime_pm when we detect that an SDIO card
was inserted. This is much like with what we do with the special
"SDMMC_CLKEN_LOW_PWR" bit that dw_mmc supports.
NOTE: we specifically do this Runtime PM disabling at card init time
rather than in the enable_sdio_irq() callback. This is _different_
than how SDHCI does it. Why do we do it differently?
- Unlike SDHCI, dw_mmc uses the standard sdio_irq code in Linux (AKA
dw_mmc doesn't set MMC_CAP2_SDIO_IRQ_NOTHREAD).
- Because we use the standard sdio_irq code:
- We see a constant stream of enable_sdio_irq(0) and
enable_sdio_irq(1) calls. This is because the standard code
disables interrupts while processing and re-enables them after.
- While interrupts are disabled, there's technically a period where
we could get runtime disabled while processing interrupts.
- If we are runtime disabled while processing interrupts, we'll
reset the controller at resume time (see dw_mci_runtime_resume),
which seems like a terrible idea because we could possibly have
another interrupt pending.
To fix the above isues we'd want to put something in the standard
sdio_irq code that makes sure to call pm_runtime get/put when
interrupts are being actively being processed. That's possible to do,
but it seems like a more complicated mechanism when we really just
want the runtime pm disabled always for SDIO cards given that all the
other bits needed to get Runtime PM vs. SDIO just aren't there.
NOTE: at some point in time someone might come up with a fancy way to
do SDIO interrupts and still allow (some) amount of runtime PM.
Technically we could turn off the card clock if we used an alternate
way of signaling SDIO interrupts (and out of band interrupt is one way
to do this). We probably wouldn't actually want to fully runtime
suspend in this case though--at least not with the current
dw_mci_runtime_resume() which basically fully resets the controller at
resume time.

Certain 64-bit systems (e.g. Amlogic Meson GX) require buffers to be
used for DMA to be 8-byte-aligned. struct sdio_func has an embedded
small DMA buffer not meeting this requirement.
When testing switching to descriptor chain mode in meson-gx driver
SDIO is broken therefore. Fix this by allocating the small DMA buffer
separately as kmalloc ensures that the returned memory area is
properly aligned for every basic data type.

The controller has different timings for MMC_TIMING_UHS_DDR50 and
MMC_TIMING_MMC_DDR52. Configuring the controller with SDHCI_CTRL_UHS_DDR50,
when MMC_TIMING_MMC_DDR52 timings are requested, is not correct and can
lead to unexpected behavior.

devices. That can happen when Intel host controllers wait for the present
state to propagate.
The spin lock is not necessary here. Anything that is racing with changes
to the I/O state is already broken. The mmc core already provides
synchronization via "claiming" the host.
Although the spin lock probably should be removed from the code paths that
lead to this point, such a patch would touch too much code to be suitable
for stable trees. Consequently, for this patch, just drop the spin lock
while waiting.

The SDHCI controller in the SAMA5D2 chip requires a valid voltage set
in the power control register, otherwise commands will fail with a
timeout error.
When using the regulator framework to specify the regulator used by the
mmc device, the voltage is not configured, and it is not possible to use
the connected device.
Implement a custom 'set_power' function for this specific hardware, that
configures the voltage in the register in all cases.

This patch can fix two issues:
Issue 1:
In previous code, div may be overflow when setting clock frequency
as f_min. We can use DIV_ROUND_UP to fix this boundary related
issue.
Issue 2:
In previous code, we can not set the correct clock frequency when
div equals 0xff.

Commit 1552011150 ("mmc: core: Further fix thread wake-up") allowed a
queue to release the host with is_waiting_last_req set to true. A queue
waiting to claim the host will not reset it, which can result in the
queue getting stuck in a loop.

HS400-ES devices fail to initialize with the following error messages.
mmc1: power class selection to bus width 8 ddr 0 failed
mmc1: error -110 whilst initialising MMC card
This was seen on Samsung Chromebook Plus. Code analysis points to
commit 3d4ef32975 ("mmc: core: fix multi-bit bus width without
high-speed mode"), which attempts to set the bus width for all but
HS200 devices unconditionally. However, for HS400-ES, the bus width
is already selected.

sdhci_arasan_get_timeout_clock() divides the frequency it has with (1 <<
(13 + divisor)).
However, the divisor is not some Arasan-specific value, but instead is
just the Data Timeout Counter Value from the SDHCI Timeout Control
Register.
Applying it here like this is wrong as the sdhci driver already takes
that value into account when calculating timeouts, and in fact it *sets*
that register value based on how long a timeout is wanted.
Additionally, sdhci core interprets the .get_timeout_clock callback
return value as if it were read from hardware registers, i.e. the unit
should be kHz or MHz depending on SDHCI_TIMEOUT_CLK_UNIT capability bit.
This bit is set at least on the tested Zynq-7000 SoC.
With the tested hardware (SDHCI_TIMEOUT_CLK_UNIT set) this results in
too high a timeout clock rate being reported, causing the core to use
longer-than-needed timeouts. Additionally, on a partitioned MMC
(therefore having erase_group_def bit set) mmc_calc_max_discard()
disables discard support as it looks like controller does not support
the long timeouts needed for that.
Do not apply the extra divisor and return the timeout clock in the
expected unit.
Tested with a Zynq-7000 SoC and a partitioned Toshiba THGBMAG5A1JBAWR
eMMC card.

So far max_blk_count isn't set what results in a default of value 8
to be used (PAGE_SIZE / block size).
Block length field has 9 bits, so set max_blk_count to 2^9-1 = 511.
In addition set max_req_size because max_blk_count is also limited
by max_req_size / block_size.

doesn't provide a benefit. Instead enable interrupts in probe already.

The following changes are quite small, therefore I combined them in
one patch.
- ret doesn't need to be initialized with 0
- use standard !clk_rate notation to check for a zero value
- If clk_rate is zero we return here. Therefore all further checks
in this function for clk_rate != 0 are not needed.
- switch from dev_warn to dev_err if the clock can't be set
- If due to clock source and available divider values the requested
frequency isn't matched exactly (always the case if requested
frequency is 52 MHz), then just print the differing values as
debug message and not as warning.
- Also remove ret from the message as it is always 0.
- Set member current_clock to the current requested rate and
mmc->actual_clock to the current actual rate

val isn't used in the switch clause and afterwards there's an
identical statement. So remove it.
In case of an unexpected bus width the error message indicates
the intention to set the bus width to 4 and to go on.
So remove the return statement. This return statement also
conflicts with "setting to 4" because nothing would be set
actually before returning. 4bit bus width are chosen as
default as the vendor driver does it too.

The current code dealing with calculating mmc->f_min is a bit complicated.
Additionally, the attempt to set an initial clock rate should explicitly
use a rate between 100KHz to 400 KHz, according the (e)MMC/SD specs, which
it doesn't.
Fix the problem and clean up the code by using clk_round_rate() to pick the
nearest minimum rate to 400KHz (rounded down from 400kHz).

This function is doing to many clever things at the same time under
too many various conditions.
Start to make things clearer by refactoring: break out the
finalization of the previous asynchronous request to its own
function mmc_finalize_areq(). We can get rid of the default
assignment of status and let the call deal with this.

The return value from blk_end_request() is a bool but is
treated like an int. This is generally safe, but the variable
also has the opaque name "ret" and gets returned from the
helper function mmc_blk_cmd_err().
- Switch the variable to a bool, applies everywhere.
- Return a bool from mmc_blk_cmd_err() and rename the function
mmc_blk_rw_cmd_err() to indicate through the namespace that
this is a helper for mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq().
- Rename the variable from "ret" to "req_pending" inside the
while() loop inside mmc_blk_issue_rq_rq(), which finally
makes it very clear what this while loop is waiting for.
- Augment the argument "ret" to mmc_blk_rq_cmd_err() to
old_req_pending so it becomes evident that this is an
older state, and it is returned only if we fail to get
the number of written blocks from an SD card in the
function mmc_sd_num_wr_blocks().
- Augment the while() loop in mmc_blk_rq_cmd_abort(): it
is evident now that we know this is a bool variable,
that the function is just spinning waiting for
blk_end_request() to return false.

mmc_sd_num_wr_blocks() has an interesting construction that
saves one return argument by casting (u32)-1 as error code
if something goes wrong.
This is however a bit confusing when the normal kernel
pattern is to return an int error code on success.
So instead pass a variable "blocks" that the function can
fill in with the number of successfully transferred blocks
and return an integer as error code.

Commit 577fb13199 ("mmc: rework selection of bus speed mode")
refactored bus width selection code to mmc_select_bus_width().
However, it also altered the behavior to not call the selection code in
non-high-speed modes anymore.
This causes 1-bit mode to always be used when the high-speed mode is not
enabled, even though 4-bit and 8-bit bus are valid bus widths in the
backwards-compatibility (legacy) mode as well (see e.g. 5.3.2 Bus Speed
Modes in JEDEC 84-B50). This results in a significant regression in
transfer speeds.
Fix the code to allow 4-bit and 8-bit widths even without high-speed
mode, as before.
Tested with a Zynq-7000 PicoZed 7020 board.

The mmc_active member of struct mmc_queue_req has a very
confusing name: this is certainly not always "active", it is
the asynchronous request associated by the mmc_queue_req
but it is not guaranteed to be "active" in any sense, such
as being running on the host.
Simply rename this member to "areq".

The mmc_blk_rw_start_new() was named after the label inside
mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq() but is really a confusing name for this
function: what it does is to try to restart the latest issued
command on the host and card of the current MMC queue.
So rename it mmc_blk_rw_try_restart() that reflects what it
is doing and at this point also refactore the function to
treat the removed card as an exception and just exit if this
happens and run on in the function if that is not happening.

With the coexisting __mmc_start_request(), mmc_start_request()
and __mmc_start_req() it is a bit confusing that mmc_start_req()
actually does not start a normal request, but an asynchronous
request.
Rename it to mmc_start_areq() to make it explicit what the
function is doing, also fix the kerneldoc for this function
while we're at it.

In the function mmc_blk_issue_rw_rq() the new request coming in
from the block layer is called "rqc" and the old request that
was potentially just returned back from the asynchronous
mechanism is called "req".
This is really confusing when trying to analyze and understand
the code, it becomes a perceptual nightmare to me. Maybe others
have better parserheads but it is not working for me.
Rename "rqc" to "new_req" and "req" to "old_req" to reflect what
is semantically going on into the syntax.

commands with busy signal") sets an arbitrary timeout value (100ms) for
commands like CMD6 (MMC SWITCH). However extended CSD register defined
in the eMMC standard has a field for GENERIC_CMD6_TIME which indicates
the default maximum timeout for a SWITCH command.
Use busy_timeout of cmd structure (populated with GENERIC_CMD6_TIME
in the case of SWITCH command) to program the data timeout value in
omap_hsmmc driver.
SWITCH command to turn the cache on took more than 100ms to complete
with MICRON eMMC card present in AM572x IDK REV 1.3A resulting in
timeout and failed enumeration. It is fixed here by programming the
timeout with the value advertised in GENERIC_CMD6_TIME.

When CEB (command end bit error) occurs
reset CMD line to avoid system ending up in
erroneous state.
While command line is reset for CTO and CCRC errors,
it's not done for CEB error. Fix it here.

When deploying runtime PM, it's quite verbose to print the
log of ios setting. Also it's useless to print it from system
PM as it should be the same with booting time. We also have
sysfs to get all these information from ios attribute, so let's
skip this print from PM context.

"mmc: core: fix prepared requests while doing bkops"
is fixing a bug in the wrong way. A bug in the MMCI
device driver is fixed by amending the MMC core.
Thinking about it: what the pre- and post-callbacks
are doing is to essentially map and unmap SG lists
for DMA transfers. Why would we not be able to do that
just because a BKOPS command is sent inbetween?
Having to unprepare/prepare the next asynchronous
request for DMA seems wrong.
Looking the backtrace in that commit we can see what
the real problem actually is:
mmci_data_irq() is calling mmci_dma_unmap() twice
which is goung to call arm_dma_unmap_sg() twice
and v7_dma_inv_range() twice for the same sglist
and that will crash.
This happens because a request is prepared, then
a BKOPS is sent. The IRQ completing the BKOPS command
goes through mmci_data_irq() and thinks that a DMA
operation has just been completed because
dma_inprogress() reports true. It then proceeds to
unmap the sglist.
But that was wrong! dma_inprogress() should NOT be
true because no DMA was actually in progress! We had
just prepared the sglist, and the DMA channel
dma_current has been configured, but NOT started!
Because of this, the sglist is already unmapped when
we get our actual data completion IRQ, and we are
unmapping the sglist once more, and we get this crash.
Therefore, we need to revert this solution pushing
the problem to the core and causing problems, and
instead augment the implementation such that
dma_inprogress() only reports true if some DMA has
actually been started.
After this we can keep the request prepared during the
BKOPS and we need not unprepare/reprepare it.

The MMC2 controller on the A64 is kind of a special beast.
While the general controller design is the same than the other MMC
controllers in the SoC, it also has a bunch of features and changes that
prevent it to be driven in the same way.
It has for example a different bus width limit, a different maximum
frequency, and, for some reason, the maximum buffer size of a DMA
descriptor.
Add a new compatible specifically for this controller.

The A64 MMC controllers need DATA0 to be masked while updating the clock,
otherwise any subsequent command will result in a timeout.
It's not really clear at this point what DATA0 is exactly, but this
behaviour is present in Allwinner's tree, and has been suggested by
Allwinner engineers as fixes for the timeout.

The A64 MMC controllers need to set a "new timings" bit when a new rate is
set.
The actual meaning of that bit is not clear yet, but not setting it leads
to some corner-case issues, like the CMD53 failing, which is used to
implement SDIO packet aggregation.

Experience have shown that the using the autocalibration could severely
degrade the performances of the MMC bus.
Allwinner is using in its BSP a delay set to 0 for all the modes but HS400.
Remove the calibration code for now, and add comments to document our
findings.

The SD specification documents that the clock frequency should only be
changed once gated (Section 3.2.3 - SD Clock Frequency Change Sequence).
The current code first modifies the parent clock, gates it and then
modifies the internal divider. This means that since the parent clock rate
might be changed, the bus clock might be changed as well before it is
gated, which breaks the specification.
Move the gating before the parent rate modification.

platform_execute_tuning should not really exist as it does not
do anything useful.
So remove this ops and directly plug sdhci_msm_execute_tuning
with mmc_host_ops.
Also in case of HS400 tuning clear SDHCI_HS400_TUNING flag once
HS400 related mode selection is done.

According the JEDEC specification an eMMC card supporting 1.8V vccq in DDR
mode should also be capable of 3.3V. However, it's been reported that some
mmc hosts supports 3.3V, but not 1.8V.
Currently the mmc core implements an error handling when the host fails to
set 1.8V for vccq, by falling back to 3.3V. Unfortunate, this seems to be
insufficient for some mmc hosts. To enable these to use eMMC DDR mode let's
invent a new mmc cap, MMC_CAP_3_3V_DDR, which tells whether they support
the eMMC 3.3V DDR mode.
In case MMC_CAP_3_3V_DDR is set, but not MMC_CAP_1_8V_DDR, let's change to
remain on the 3.3V, as it's the default voltage level for vccq, set by the
earlier power up sequence.
As this change introduces MMC_CAP_3_3V_DDR, let's take the opportunity to
do some re-formatting of the related defines in the header file.

1.8V for UHS mode. To clarify this let's do the following changes.
- We are always providing MMC_SIGNAL_VOLTAGE_180 as the signal_voltage
parameter to the function. Then, let's just remove the parameter as it
serves no purpose.
- Rename the function to mmc_set_uhs_voltage().

The mmc_blk_issue_rq() function is called in exactly one place
in queue.c and there the return value is ignored. So the
functions called from that function that also meticulously
return 0/1 do so for no good reason.
Error reporting on the asynchronous requests are done upward to
the block layer when the requests are eventually completed or
fail, which may happen during the flow of the mmc_blk_issue_*
functions directly (for "special commands") or later, when an
asynchronous read/write request is completed.
The issuing functions do not give rise to errors on their own,
and there is nothing to return back to the caller in queue.c.
Drop all return values and make the function return void.

Setting rqc to NULL followed by a goto to cmd_abort is just a way
to do unconditional abort without starting any new command.
Inline the calls to mmc_blk_rw_cmd_abort() and return immediately
in those cases.
Add some comments to the code flow so it is clear that this is
where the asynchronous requests come back in and the result of
them gets handled.

The code in mmc_blk_issue_rq_rq() aborts a command if the request
is not properly aligned on large sectors. As part of the path
jumping out, it assigns the local variable mq_rq reflecting
a MMC queue request to the current MMC queue request, which is
confusing since the variable is not used after this jump.

During tuning execution for HS400 mode, HW sequence recommends
to select MCLK_SEL/2(0x3) in VENDOR_SPEC & sdhc msm clock at GCC
to be 400MHZ (nearest supported clk). Add this change in tuning

The vendor specific func register doesn't get reset when using the
software reset register. The various bootloader's could leave this
in an unknown state, hence reset this register to it's power on reset
value during probe.

With commit 67bf5156ed ("gpio / ACPI: fix returned error from
acpi_dev_gpio_irq_get()"), mmc_gpiod_request_cd() returns -EPROBE_DEFER if
GPIO is not ready when sdhci-acpi driver is probed, and sdhci-acpi driver
should be probed again later in this case.
This fixes an order issue when both GPIO and sdhci-acpi drivers are built
as modules.

This is the first step in cleaning up the private mmc header files. In this
change we makes sure each header file builds standalone, as that helps to
resolve dependencies.
While changing this, it also seems reasonable to stop including other
headers from inside a header itself which it don't depend upon.
Additionally, in some cases such dependencies are better resolved by
forward declaring the needed struct.

To validate whether native hotplug needs to be used, the tmio driver checks
whether the mmc->slot.cd_irq has been successfully assigned.
This check is redundant at its current place in tmio_mmc_host_probe(), as
the mmc core assigns mmc->slot.cd_irq a valid value first when
mmc_gpiod_request_cd_irq() is called. Therefore, let's just remove the
check for now, as that also removes a layering violation of the tmio driver
accessing core specific data via ->slot.cd_irq.

The eSDHC_PRSSTAT[SDSTB] bit indicates whether the internal card clock is
stable. This bit is for the host driver to poll clock status when changing
the clock frequency. It is recommended to clear eSDHC_SYSCTL[SDCLKEN]
to remove glitch on the card clock when the frequency is changing. This
patch is to disable SDCLKEN bit before changing frequency and enable it
after SDSTB bit is set.

Per SDIO Simplified Specification V3, section 3.1.2, A host that
supports UHS-I sets S18R to 1 in the argument of CMD5 to request a
change of the signal voltage to 1.8V. If the card supports UHS-I and
the current signal voltage is 3.3V, S18A is set to 1 in the R4 response.
If the signal voltage is already 1.8V, the card sets S18A to 0 so that
host maintains the current signal voltage. UHS-I is supported in SD mode
and S18A is always 0 in SPI mode.
For the current code, if the signaling voltage is fixed 1.8v, so
the card will set S18A to 0 for rocr and thus we would clear the
R4_18V_PRESENT from ocr, which make core won't try to use uhs mode.
To fix it, we expect sdio_read_cccr would fail if the uhs mode won't
work at all. Note that it's interesting that some sdio cards still
response S18A even the voltage is fixed to 1.8v and the CMD11 will
also accepted and finish enabling UHS mode successfully. I guess this
is why folks didn't notice this problem. Anyway, fix it.

possible and mmc framework should not make any assumption on what exactly

Initially all QorIQ platforms were PowerPC architecture and they didn't
support card detection except several platforms. The driver added the
quirk SDHCI_QUIRK_BROKEN_CARD_DETECTION as default and this made broken-cd
property in dts node didn't work. Now QorIQ platform turns to ARM
architecture and most of them could support card detection. However it's
a large number of dts trees that need to be fixed with broken-cd if we
remove the default SDHCI_QUIRK_BROKEN_CARD_DETECTION in driver. And the
users don't want to see this. So this patch is to remove this default
quirk just for ARM and keep it for PowerPC.(Note, QorIQ PowerPC platform
only has big-endian eSDHC while QorIQ ARM platform has big-endian or
little-endian eSDHC) This makes broken-cd property work again for ARM.

Data done irq is expected if data length is less than
watermark in PIO mode. But fifo watermark is requested
to be aligned with data length in some SoC so that TX/RX
irq can be generated with data done irq. Add the
watermark alignment to mark this requirement and force
fifo watermark setting accordingly.

There are currently no users of the clk_ctrl2_present member from the
platform data, so let's remove it.
Note, as some of the sh_mmcif variants may support clk_ctrl2, let's keep
the current code in the driver, which deals with this. For future support,
we should invent a DT binding instead, but let's leave that until it's
needed.

According to the BCM2835 datasheet the maximum block size for the
eMMC module is restricted to the internal data FIFO which is 1024 byte.
But this is still an improvement to the default of 512 byte.

In the MMC subsystem, we see such initializers that only clears the
first member explicitly.
For example,
struct mmc_request mrq = {NULL};
sets the first member (.sbc) to NULL explicitly. However, this is
an unstable form because we may insert a non-pointer member at the
top of the struct mmc_request in the future. (if we do so, the
compiler will spit warnings.)
So, using a designated initializer is preferred coding style. The
expression above is equivalent to:
struct mmc_request mrq = { .sbc = NULL };
Of course, this does not express our intention. We want to fill
all struct members with zeros. Please note struct members are
implicitly zero-cleared unless otherwise specified in the initializer.
After all, the most reasonable (and stable) form is:
struct mmc_request mrq = {};
Do likewise for mmc_command, mmc_data as well.

device lifetime are added.
- Two types of estimated indications reflected by averaged wear out of memory
- An indication reflected by average reserved blocks

Prerequisites for tuning are the same as for hw_reset. We need an SCC
and a supported mode. Populate the tuning related functions only when
those conditions are met. This also removes a tiny race window.
Previously, the functions were populated when the SCC offset was not
initialized which could have led to an OOPS.

We need a SCC unit for hw_reset. Those units can only be described in
of_data. So, of_data and a valid SCC offset are prerequisites for
enabling the hw_reset capability. Merge the two 'if' conditions into one
and add a check for an scc offset.

The master bit to enable SDIO interrupts can only be accessed if
SCLKDIVEN bit allows that. However, the core uses the SDIO enable
callback at times when SCLKDIVEN forbids the change. This leads to
"timeout waiting for SD bus idle" messages.
We now activate the master bit in probe once if SDIO is supported. IRQ
en-/disabling will be done now by the individual IRQ enablement bits
only.

This fixes a race condition that may occur whenever ST micro busy end
interrupt is raised just after being unmasked but before leaving mmci
interrupt context.
A dead-lock has been found if connecting mmci ST Micro variant whose amba
id is 0x10480180 to some new eMMC that supports internal caches. Whenever
mmci driver enables cache control by programming eMMC's EXT_CSD register,
block driver may request to flush the eMMC internal caches causing mmci
driver to send a MMC_SWITCH command to the card with FLUSH_CACHE operation.
And because busy end interrupt may be mistakenly cleared while not yet
processed, this mmc request may never complete. As a result, mmcqd task
may be stuck forever.
Here is an instance caught by lockup detector which shows that mmcqd task
was hung while waiting for mmc_flush_cache command to complete:

Here is the detailed sequence showing when this issue may happen:
1) At probe time, mmci device is initialized and card busy detection based
on DAT[0] monitoring is enabled.
2) Later during run time, since card reported to support internal caches, a
MMCI_SWITCH command is sent to eMMC device with FLUSH_CACHE operation. On
receiving this command, eMMC may enter busy state (for a relatively short
time in the case of the dead-lock).
3) Then mmci interrupt is raised and mmci_irq() is called:
MMCISTATUS register is read and is equal to 0x01000440. So the following
status bits are set:
- MCI_CMDRESPEND (= 6)
- MCI_DATABLOCKEND (= 10)
- MCI_ST_CARDBUSY (= 24)
Since MMCIMASK0 register is 0x3FF, status variable is set to 0x00000040 and
BIT MCI_CMDRESPEND is cleared by writing MMCICLEAR register.
Then mmci_cmd_irq() is called. Considering the following conditions:
- host->busy_status is 0,
- this is a "busy response",
- reading again MMCISTATUS register gives 0x1000400,
MMCIMASK0 is updated to unmask MCI_ST_BUSYEND bit.
Thus, MMCIMASK0 is set to 0x010003FF and host->busy_status is set to wait
for busy end completion.
Back again in status loop of mmci_irq(), we quickly go through
mmci_data_irq() as there are no data in that case. And we finally go
through following test at the end of while(status) loop:

Because status variable is not yet null (is equal to 0x40), we do not leave
interrupt context yet but we loop again into while(status) loop. So we run
across following steps:
a) MMCISTATUS register is read again and this time is equal to 0x01000400.
So that following bits are set:
- MCI_DATABLOCKEND (= 10)
- MCI_ST_CARDBUSY (= 24)
Since MMCIMASK0 register is equal to 0x010003FF:
b) status variable is set to 0x01000000.
c) MCI_ST_CARDBUSY bit is cleared by writing MMCICLEAR register.
Then, mmci_cmd_irq() is called one more time. Since host->busy_status is
set and that MCI_ST_CARDBUSY is set in status variable, we just return from
this function.
Back again in mmci_irq(), status variable is set to 0 and we finally leave
the while(status) loop. As a result we leave interrupt context, waiting for
busy end interrupt event.
Now, consider that busy end completion is raised IN BETWEEN steps 3.a) and
3.c). In such a case, we may mistakenly clear busy end interrupt at step
3.c) while it has not yet been processed. This will result in mmc command
to wait forever for a busy end completion that will never happen.
To fix the problem, this patch implements the following changes:
Considering that the mmci seems to be triggering the IRQ on both edges
while monitoring DAT0 for busy completion and that same status bit is used
to monitor start and end of busy detection, special care must be taken to
make sure that both start and end interrupts are always cleared one after
the other.
1) Clearing of card busy bit is moved in mmc_cmd_irq() function where
unmasking of busy end bit is effectively handled.
2) Just before unmasking busy end event, busy start event is cleared by
writing card busy bit in MMCICLEAR register.
3) Finally, once we are no more busy with a command, busy end event is
cleared writing again card busy bit in MMCICLEAR register.
This patch has been tested with the ST Accordo5 machine, not yet supported
upstream but relies on the mmci driver.

One of our kernelCI boxes hanged at boot because a faulty eSDHC device
was triggering spurious CARD_INT interrupts for SD cards, causing CMD52
reads, which are not allowed for SD devices. This adds a sanity check
to the interruption path, preventing that illegal command from getting
sent if the CARD_INT interruption should be disabled.
This quirk allows that particular machine to resume boot despite the
faulty hardware, instead of getting hung dealing with thousands of
mishandled interrupts.

- update clock after ctrl reset
- if the host has genpd node, we can guarantee the clock is
available before starting request. Otherwies, the clock register
is reset once power off the pd, and host can't output the active
clock during communication.

Regressions for not being able to detect an eMMC HS DDR mode card has been
reported for the sdhci-esdhc-imx driver, but potentially other sdhci
variants may suffer from the similar problem.
The commit e173f8911f ("mmc: core: Update CMD13 polling policy when
switch to HS DDR mode"), is causing the problem. It seems that change moved
one step to far, regarding changing the host's timing before polling for a
busy card.
To fix this, let's move back to the behaviour when the host's timing is
updated after the polling, but before the switch status is fetched and
validated.
In cases when polling with CMD13, we keep validating the switch status at
each attempt. However, to align with the other card busy detections
mechanism, let's fetch and validate the switch status also after the host's
timing is updated.

According to the code the intention is to append 8 SCK cycles
instead of 4 at end of a MMC_STOP_TRANSMISSION command. But this
will never happened because it's an AC command not an ADTC command.
So fix this by moving the statement into the right function.

Commit e5bbf30733 ("mmc: sdhci-acpi: Ensure connected devices are
powered when probing") introduced code to powerup any acpi child
nodes listed in the dstd. But some dstd-s list all possible devices
used on some board variants, while reporting if the device is actually
present and enabled in the status field of the device.
So we end up calling the acpi _PS0 (power-on) method for devices which
are not actually present. This does not always end well, e.g. on my
cube iwork8 air tablet, this results in freezing the entire tablet as
soon as the r8723bs module is loaded.
This commit fixes this by checking the child device's status.present
and status.enabled bits and only call acpi_device_fix_up_power()
if both are set.

The mmc_read_ssr() function results in DMA to the raw_ssr member of
struct mmc_card, which is not guaranteed to be cache line aligned & thus
might not meet the requirements set out in Documentation/DMA-API.txt:
Warnings: Memory coherency operates at a granularity called the cache
line width. In order for memory mapped by this API to operate
correctly, the mapped region must begin exactly on a cache line
boundary and end exactly on one (to prevent two separately mapped
regions from sharing a single cache line). Since the cache line size
may not be known at compile time, the API will not enforce this
requirement. Therefore, it is recommended that driver writers who
don't take special care to determine the cache line size at run time
only map virtual regions that begin and end on page boundaries (which
are guaranteed also to be cache line boundaries).
On some systems where DMA is non-coherent this can lead to us losing
data that shares cache lines with the raw_ssr array.
Fix this by kmalloc'ing a temporary buffer to perform DMA into. kmalloc
will ensure the buffer is suitably aligned, allowing the DMA to be
performed without any loss of data.

Commit e0097cf5f2 ("mmc: queue: Fix queue thread wake-up") did not go far
enough. mmc_wait_for_data_req_done() still contains some problems and can
be further simplified. First it should not touch
context_info->is_waiting_last_req because that is a wake-up control used by
the owner of the context. Secondly, it should always return when one of its
wake-up conditions is met because, again, that is contolled by the owner of
the context.
While the current block driver does not have an issue, these problems were
exposed during testing of the Software Command Queue patches.

Since commit c2c24819b2 ("mmc: core: Don't power off the card when
starting the host"), the power state can still be MMC_POWER_UNDEFINED after
mmc_start_host() is called. That can trigger a warning in SDHCI during
runtime resume as it tries to restore the I/O state. Handle
MMC_POWER_UNDEFINED simply by not updating the I/O state in that case.

Once upon a time it made sense to keep the mmc block device driver and its
related code, in its own directory called card. Over time, more an more
functions/structures have become shared through generic mmc header files,
between the core and the card directory. In other words, the relationship
between them has become closer.
By sharing functions/structures via generic header files, it becomes easy
for outside users to abuse them. In a way to avoid that from happen, let's
move the files from card directory into the core directory, as it enables
us to move definitions of functions/structures into mmc core specific
header files.
Note, this is only the first step in providing a cleaner mmc interface for
outside users. Following changes will do the actual cleanup, as that is not
part of this change.

Add a driver for the Cadence SD4HC SD/SDIO/eMMC Controller.
For SD, it basically relies on the SDHCI standard code.
For eMMC, this driver provides some callbacks to support the
hardware part that is specific to this IP design.

Some SDHCI-compat controllers support not only SD, but also eMMC,
but they use different commands for tuning: CMD19 for SD, CMD21 for
eMMC.
Due to the difference of the underlying mechanism, some controllers
(at least, the Cadence IP is the case) provide their own registers
for the eMMC tuning.
This commit will be useful when we want to override .execute_tuning
callback (for eMMC HS200 tuning), but still let it fall back to
sdhci_execute_tuning() for SD timing.

If a tuning command times out, the card could still be processing it, which
will cause problems for recovery. The eMMC specification says that CMD12
can be used to stop CMD21, so add a function that does that.

SDHCI falls back to fixed sampling if there is an error during tuning.
However it also reports an error unless there is periodic re-tuning.
That is not the best option because:
a) there is a reasonable chance that fixed sampling will work, especially
at room temperature.
b) re-tuning will be done again anyway if there are CRC errors.
Change to return no error always when falling back to fixed sampling.

If the driver has exhausted the maximum number of tuning loops, then fixed
sampling is used. To do that both SDHCI_CTRL_TUNED_CLK and
SDHCI_CTRL_EXEC_TUNING must be reset to 0, but only SDHCI_CTRL_TUNED_CLK
was being reset. Reset SDHCI_CTRL_EXEC_TUNING to 0 also.

Clearing the tuning bits should reset the tuning circuit. However there is
more to do. Reset the command and data lines for good measure, and then
for eMMC ensure the card is not still trying to process a tuning command by
sending a stop command.
Note the JEDEC eMMC specification says the stop command (CMD12) can be used
to stop a tuning command (CMD21) whereas the SD specification is silent on
the subject with respect to the SD tuning command (CMD19). Considering that
CMD12 is not a valid SDIO command, the stop command is sent only when the
tuning command is CMD21 i.e. for eMMC. That addresses cases seen so far
which have been on eMMC.
Note that this replaces the commit fe5fb2e3b5 ("mmc: sdhci: Reset cmd and
data circuits after tuning failure") which is being reverted for v4.9+.

The JEDEC specification indicates CMD13 can be used after a HS200 switch
to check for errors. However in practice some boards experience CRC errors
in the CMD13 response. Consequently, for HS200, CRC errors are not a
reliable way to know the switch failed. If there really is a problem, we
would expect tuning will fail and the result ends up the same. So change
the error condition to ignore CRC errors in that case.

On NI 9037 boards the max SDIO frequency is limited by trace lengths
and other layout choices. The max SDIO frequency is stored in an ACPI
table.
The driver reads the ACPI entry MXFQ during sdio_probe_slot and sets the
f_max field of the host.

When card is polling (broken-cd), there is a spamming messge related to
clock.
After applied this patch, display the message only one time at boot
time. It's enough to check which clock values is used.
Also prevent to display the spamming message.

The dw_mmc-exynos should be RPM_ACTIVE on probe() to call suspend
callback of runtime PM in pm_runtime_force_suspend() during first system
suspend. Also call pm_runtime_get_noresume() on probe() because it
doesn't call suspend/resume callback by runtime PM now.

It is unnecessary to panic the kernel when testing mmc. Instead,
cast a warning for folkz to debug and return the error code to
the caller to indicate the failure of this test should be enough.

bounce_sg for mqrq_cur and mqrq_pre are proper
allocated when initializing the queue and will not
be freed before explicitly cleaning the queue. So from
the code itself it should be quite confident to remove
this check. If that BUG_ON take effects, it is mostly
likely the memory is randomly oopsing.

The code seems quite simple to maintain the sdio_uart_table,
and the insert/remove port from the table are symmetric. If
the BUG_ON occurs, which means serial_core modify the index
or mess up the port sequence anyway.

of triggering BUG_ON which is meaningless. Personally I
don't believe n != EXT_CSD_STR_LEN could happen. Anyway,

Add a mmc_queue member to record the size of the queue, which currently
supports 2 requests on-the-go at a time. Instead of allocating resources
for 2 slots in the queue, allow for an arbitrary number.

The only time the driver sleeps expecting to be woken upon the arrival of
a new request, is when the dispatch queue is empty. The only time that it
is known whether the dispatch queue is empty is after NULL is returned
from blk_fetch_request() while under the queue lock.
Recognizing those facts, simplify the synchronization between the queue
thread and the request function. A couple of flags tell the request
function what to do, and the queue lock and barriers associated with
wake-ups ensure synchronization.
The result is simpler and allows the removal of the context_info lock.

The 4K native sector check does not allow for the 'do' loop nor the
variables used after the 'cmd_abort' label.
'brq' and 'req' get reassigned in the 'do' loop, so the check must not
assume what their values are. After the 'cmd_abort' label, 'mq_rq' and
'req' are used, but 'rqc' must be NULL otherwise it can be started again.

The eSDHC of T4240-R1.0-R2.0 has incorrect vender version and spec version.
Acturally the right version numbers should be VVN=0x13 and SVN = 0x1.
This patch adds the GUTS driver support for eSDHC driver to match SoC.
And fix host version to avoid that incorrect version numbers break down
the ADMA data transfer.

I've had it with this code now.
The packed command support is a complex hurdle in the MMC/SD block
layer, around 500+ lines of code which was introduced in 2013 in
commit ce39f9d17c ("mmc: support packed write command for eMMC4.5
devices")
commit abd9ac1449 ("mmc: add packed command feature of eMMC4.5")
...and since then it has been rotting. The original author of the
code has disappeared from the community and the mail address is
bouncing.
For the code to be exercised the host must flag that it supports
packed commands, so in mmc_blk_prep_packed_list() which is called for
every single request, the following construction appears:

This has the following logical deductions:
- Only WRITE commands can really be packed, so the solution is
only half-done: we support packed WRITE but not packed READ.
The packed command support has not been finalized by supporting
reads in three years!
- mmc_host_packed_wr() is just a static inline that checks
host->caps2 & MMC_CAP2_PACKED_WR. The problem with this is
that NO upstream host sets this capability flag! No driver
in the kernel is using it, and we can't test it. Packed
command may be supported in out-of-tree code, but I doubt
it. I doubt that the code is even working anymore due to
other refactorings in the MMC block layer, who would
notice if patches affecting it broke packed commands?
No one.
- There is no Device Tree binding or code to mark a host as
supporting packed read or write commands, just this flag
in caps2, so for sure there are not any DT systems using
it either.
It has other problems as well: mmc_blk_prep_packed_list() is
speculatively picking requests out of the request queue with
blk_fetch_request() making the MMC/SD stack harder to convert
to the multiqueue block layer. By this we get rid of an
obstacle.
The way I see it this is just cruft littering the MMC/SD
stack.

The void (*pre_req) callback in the struct mmc_host_ops vtable
is passing an argument "is_first_req" indicating whether this is
the first request or not.
None of the in-kernel users use this parameter: instead, since
they all just do variants of dma_map* they use the DMA cookie
to indicate whether a pre* callback has already been done for
a request when they decide how to handle it.
Delete the parameter from the callback and all users, as it is
just pointless cruft.

According to the JEDEC specification, during bus timing change operations
for mmc, sending a CMD13 could trigger CRC errors.
As switching to HS DDR mode indeed causes a bus timing change, polling with
CMD13 to detect card busy, may thus potentially trigger CRC errors.
Currently these errors are treated as the switch to HS DDR mode failed.
To improve this behaviour, let's instead tell __mmc_switch() to retry when
it encounters CRC errors during polling.
Moreover, when switching to HS DDR mode, let's make sure the CMD13 polling
is done by having the mmc host and the mmc card, being configured to
operate at the same selected bus speed timing. Fix this by providing
MMC_TIMING_MMC_DDR52 as the timing parameter to __mmc_switch().

In cases when the mmc host doesn't support HW busy detection, polling for a
card being busy by using CMD13 is beneficial. That is because, instead of
waiting a fixed amount of time, 500ms or the generic CMD6 time from
EXT_CSD, we find out a lot sooner when the card stops signaling busy. This
leads to a significant decreased total initialization time for the mmc
card.
However, to allow polling with CMD13 during a bus timing change operation,
such as switching to HS mode, we first need to update the mmc host's bus
timing before starting to poll. Deal with that, simply by providing
MMC_TIMING_MMC_HS as the timing parameter to __mmc_switch() from
mmc_select_hs().
By telling __mmc_switch() to allow polling with CMD13, also makes it
validate the CMD6 status, thus we can remove the corresponding checks.
When switching to HS400ES, the mmc_select_hs() function is called in one of
the intermediate steps. To still prevent CMD13 polling for HS400ES, let's
call the __mmc_switch() function in this path as it enables us to keep
using the existing method.

In cases when a speed mode change is requested for mmc cards, a CMD6 is
sent by calling __mmc_switch() during the card initialization. The CMD6
leads to the card entering a busy period. When that is completed, the host
must parse the CMD6 status to find out whether the change of the speed mode
succeeded.
To enable the mmc core to poll the card by using CMD13 to find out when the
busy period is completed, it's reasonable to make sure polling is done by
having the mmc host and the mmc card, being configured to operate at the
same selected bus speed timing.
Therefore, let's extend __mmc_switch() to take yet another parameter, which
allow its callers to update the bus speed timing of the mmc host. In this
way, __mmc_switch() also becomes capable of reading and validating the CMD6
status by sending a CMD13, in cases when that's desired.
If __mmc_switch() encounters a failure, we make sure to restores the old
bus speed timing for the mmc host, before propagating the error code.

According to the JEDEC specification, the SWITCH_ERROR bit in the device
status from a R1 response, is an error bit which may be cleared as soon as
the response that reports the error is sent.
When polling with CMD13 to find out when the card stops signaling busy
after a CMD6 has been sent, we currently parse only the last CMD13 response
for the SWITCH_ERROR bit. Consequentially we could loose important
information about the card.
In worst case if the card stops signaling busy within the allowed timeout,
we could end up believing that the CMD6 command completed successfully,
when in fact it didn't.
To improve the behaviour, let's parse each CMD13 response to see if the
SWITCH_ERROR bit is set in the device status. In such case, we abort the
polling loop and report the error.

After a CMD6 command has been sent, the __mmc_switch() function might be
advised to poll the card for busy by using CMD13 and also by ignoring CRC
errors.
In the case of ignoring CRC errors, the mmc core tells the mmc host to also
ignore these errors via masking the MMC_RSP_CRC response flag. This seems
wrong, as it leads to that the mmc host could propagate an unreliable
response, instead of a proper error code.
What we really want, is not to ignore CRC errors but instead retry the
polling attempt. So, let's change this by treating a CRC error as the card
is still being busy and thus continue to run the polling loop.
