Laurent Pinchart 178db7d30f spi: Fix device unregistration when unregistering the bus master
Device are added as children of the bus master's parent device, but
spi_unregister_master() looks for devices to unregister in the bus

Fix this by registering devices as direct children of the bus master.

Jiri Slaby d9ddcec35d spi/fsl-espi: disable CONFIG_SPI_FSL_ESPI=m build
When spi_fsl_espi is chosen to be built as a module, there is a build
error because we test only CONFIG_SPI_FSL_ESPI in declaration of

So we forbid CONFIG_SPI_FSL_ESPI to be tristate here.

Virupax Sadashivpetimath 8b8d719161 spi/pl022: make the chip deselect handling thread safe
There is a possibility that the pump_message and giveback
run in parallel on a SMP system. Both the pump_message and
giveback threads work on the same SPI message queue.
Results will be in correct if the pump_message gets to
work on the queue first.

when the pump_message works with the queue, it reads the
head of the queue and removes it from the queue. pump_message
activates the chip select depending on this message read.

This leads to giveback working on the modified queue or a
emptied queue. If the queue is empty or if the next message on
the queue (which is not the actual next message, as the pump
message has removed the next message from the queue) is not for
the same SPI device as that Of the previous one, giveback will
de-activate the chip select activated by pump_message(),
which is wrong.

To solve this problem pump_message is made not to run and
access the queue until the giveback is done handling the queue.
I.e. by making the cur_msg NULL after the giveback has read the
queue.

Also a state variable has been introduced to keep track of when
the CS for next message is already activated and avoid to
double-activate it.

Chris Blair 53e4acea0e spi/pl022: add support for pm_runtime autosuspend
Adds support for configuring the spi bus to use autosuspend for
runtime power management. This can reduce the latency in starting an
spi transfer by not suspending the device immediately following
completion of a transfer. If another transfer then takes place before
the autosuspend timeout, the call to resume the device can return
immediately rather than needing to risk sleeping in order to resume
the device.

which replaces the module_init()/module_exit() registrations with
template functions.

Add runtime PM support to the core Primecell driver, following the PCI
model of how this is done.

Rather than having every driver fiddle about with enabling runtime PM,
that's dealt with in the core and instead, drivers just do a put() in
their probe and a balancing get() in their remove function to activate
runtime PM for the device.

As we're dealing with enabling runtime PM in the core, fix up spi-pl022
as it must not enable and disable runtime PM itself anymore.

H Hartley Sweeten 7eb187b3cd spi: spi-dw: fix all sparse warnings
The dw_{read,write}[lw] macros produce sparse warnings everytime they
are used. The "read" ones cause:

warning: cast removes address space of expression
warning: incorrect type in argument 1 (different address spaces)
expected void const volatile [noderef] <asn:2>*addr
   got unsigned int *<noident>

And the "write" ones:

warning: cast removes address space of expression
warning: incorrect type in argument 2 (different address spaces)
   expected void volatile [noderef] <asn:2>*addr
   got unsigned int *<noident>

Fix this by removing struct dw_spi_reg and converting all the register
offsets to #defines. Then convert the macros into inlined functions so
that proper type checking can occur.

While here, also fix the three sparse warnings in spi-dw-mid.c due to
the return value of ioremap_nocache being stored in a u32 * not a
void __iomem *.

With these changes the spi-dw* files all build with no sparse warnings.

Viresh Kumar 0379b2a33a spi/spi-pl022: calculate_effective_freq() must set rate <= requested rate
There were few issues with calculate_effective_freq() routine:
- It was returning first rate found >= requested rate. Now, if system have spi's
rate as 83 MHz, with possible prescaled rates as 83, 41.5, 20.75, 13.83 (as we
can prescale with multiples of 2). If user has given rate to be programmed as
22 MHz, then driver programmes it to 41.5 MHz. This looks to be incorrect, as
user might have given the upper limit of the device, and we are programming it
  above it.
- Driver finds the first satisfying rate and programmes it, but with other
values of scr & cpsdvsr, it is possible to get more closer rate.

This patch fixes these two issues, with some reformatting inside the code. This
also creates a inline routine to calculate prescaled rate based on spi's rate,
cpsdvsr and scr.

and macro, as it easily make people think of imx2 and imx3. It's
better to use specific soc name just like what other SPI_IMX_VER
do. For SPI_IMX_VER_2_3 case, it will be mx51. To distinguish it
from CSPI on mx51, mx51_ecspi might be a good choice.

Padmavathi Venna 3075741417 spi/s3c64xx: Bug fix for SPI with different FIFO level
The existing macro fails for following scenarios.
1) S5P64X0 channel 1
2) S5PV210 channel 1

The FIFO data level supported in the above SoCs either 64 or
256 bytes depending on the channel. Because of this the TX_DONE
is the 25 bit in the status register.

The existing macro works for the following scenarios
1) S3C6410 all channels
2) S5PC100 all channels

The FIFO data level supported in the above SoCs 64 bytes
on all the channels. Because of this the TX_DONE is the 21 bit
in the status register.

So when we use the existing macro for the non-working SoCs
it is not anding with the TX_DONE bit for transmission status check.

Holger Brunck fb6440955f spi/fsl_spi: fix CPM spi driver
This patch fixes the freescale spi driver for CPM. Without this
patch SPI on CPM failed because cpm_muram_alloc_fixed tries to
allocate muram in an preserved area. The error reported was:

mpc8xxx_spi f0011a80.spi: can't allocate spi parameter ram
mpc8xxx_spi: probe of f0011a80.spi failed with error -12

Now the driver uses of_iomap to get access to this area
similar to i2c driver driver in the i2c-cpm.c which has a
similar device tree node. This is tested on a MPC8247 with CPM2.

if drv_data->queue is empty, but drv_data->busy is still set
(or opposite situation) stop_queue will return -EBUSY.
So fix loop condition to check that both drv_data->queue is empty
and drv_data->busy is not set.

This patch affects following drivers:
pxa2xx_spi
spi_bfin5xx
amba-pl022
dw_spi

Jarkko Nikula 95c5c3ab7d spi/omap_mcspi: Fix broken last word xfer
Commit adef658 "spi/omap_mcspi: catch xfers of non-multiple SPI word size"
broke the transmission of last word in cases where access is multiple of
word size and word size is 16 or 32 bits.

Fix this by replacing the test "c > (word_len>>3)" in do-while loops with
"c >= 'pointer increment size'". This ensures that the last word is
transmitted in above case and still allow to break the loop and prevent
variable c underflow in cases where word size != 'pointer increment size'.

Sebastian Andrzej Siewior 0f3e1d27a7 spi/pxa2xx pci: fix the release - remove race
Right now the platform device and its platform data is included in one big
struct which requires its custom ->release function. The problem with the
release function within the driver is that it might be called after the
driver was removed because someone was holding a reference to it and it
was not called right after platform_device_unregister(). So we also free
the platform device memory to which one might hold a reference.

This patch uses the normal pdev functions so this kind of race does not
occur.

I've no idea why this driver uses NULL for dma_unmap_single instead of
the &spi->dev that is laying around just waiting to be used in that
function - but it's an easy fix.

Also replace this comment with a FIXME comment:
/* Do DMA mapping "early" for better error reporting and
                 * dcache use. Note that if dma_unmap_single() ever starts
                 * to do real work on ARM, we'd need to clean up mappings
                 * for previous transfers on *ALL* exits of this loop...
                 */
as the comment is not true - we do work in dma_unmap() functions,
particularly on ARMv6 and above. I've corrected the existing unmap
functions but if any others are required they must be added ASAP.

  - Do some clean-up and fix indentation on both patches
  - Add more explanations for patch 2

* Change from v2 to v3:
  - Use directly resume function of spi_master instead of using function
  - from spi_device as Grant Likely pointed it out.
  - Force this transition explicitly for each CS used by a device.

* Change from v3 to v4:
  - Patch clean-up according to Kevin Hilman and checkpatch.
  - Now force CS to be in inactive state only if it was inactive when it was
    suspended.

* Change from v4 to v5:
  - Rebase on linus/master (after 2.6.37-rc3)
  - Collapse some lines as pointed by Grant Likely
  - Fix a spelling

* Change from v5 to v6:
  - Rebase on linus/master (after 2.6.37-rc7)
  - Use CONFIG_SUSPEND instead of CONFIG_PM
  - Didn't use legacy PM methods anymore. Instead, add a struct dev_pm_ops and
    add the resume method there.
  - Fix multi-line comment style

* Change from v6 to v7:
  - Rebase on linus/master (after 2.6.37-rc8)
  - Drop an extra line
