Jason Gunthorpe 366380a0c8 RDMA/mlx4: Fix uABI structure layouts for 32/64 compat
rss_caps in struct mlx4_uverbs_ex_query_device_resp is misaligned on
32 bit compared to 64 bit, add explicit padding.

The rss caps were introduced recently and are very rarely used in user
space, mainly for DPDK.

We don't expect there to be a real 32 bit user, so this change is done
without compat considerations.

Jason Gunthorpe 71e80a4781 RDMA/qedr: Fix uABI structure layouts for 32/64 compat
struct qedr_alloc_ucontext_resp is a different length in 32 and 64
bit compiles due to implicit compiler padding.

The structs alloc_pd_uresp, create_cq_uresp and create_qp_uresp are
not padded by the compiler, but in user space the compiler pads them
due to the way the core and driver structs are concatenated. Make
this padding explicit and consistent for future sanity.

The kernel driver can already handle the user buffer being smaller
than required and copies correctly, so no compat or ABI break happens
from introducing the explicit padding.

Jason Gunthorpe 611cb92b08 RDMA/ucma: Fix uABI structure layouts for 32/64 compat
The rdma_ucm_event_resp is a different length on 32 and 64 bit compiles.

The kernel requires it to be the expected length or longer so 32 bit
builds running on a 64 bit kernel will not work.

Retain full compat by having all kernels accept a struct with or without
the trailing reserved field.

Jason Gunthorpe 38b48808b9 RDMA: Remove minor pahole differences between 32/64
To help automatic detection we want pahole to report the same struct
layouts for 32 and 64 bit compiles. These cases are all implicit
padding added at the end of embedded structs as part of a union.

The added reserved fields have no impact on the ABI.

The udata's for alloc_pd cannot contain u64s due to alignment

These reserved fields are totally unnecessary, never written and never

Extending uverbs_ioctl header with driver_id and another reserved

Matan Barak 1f7ff9d5d3 IB/uverbs: Move to new headers and make naming consistent
Use macros to make names consistent in ioctl() uAPI:
The ioctl() uAPI works with object-method hierarchy. The method part
also states which handler should be executed when this method is called
from user-space. Therefore, we need to tie method, method's id, method's
handler and the object owning this method together.
Previously, this was done through explicit developer chosen names.
This makes grepping the code harder. Changing the method's name,
method's handler and object's name to be automatically generated based
on the ids.

The headers are split in a way so they be included and used by
user-space. One header strictly contains structures that are used
directly by user-space applications, where another header is used for
internal library (i.e. libibverbs) to form the ioctl() commands.
Other header simply contains the required general command structure.

Jason Gunthorpe 958d2c1ba3 RDMA/bnxt: Fix structure layout for bnxt_re_pd_resp
What is going on here is a bit subtle, in the kernel there is no
problem because the struct is copied using copy_from_user, so it
can safely have an 8 byte alignment, however in userspace it must
be constructed by concatenation with the ib_uverbs_alloc_pd_resp
struct. This is due to the required memory layout to execute the
command.

Since ibv_uverbs_alloc_pd_resp is only 4 bytes long, this causes
misalignment, and the user space will experience an unexpected padding.
Currently it works around this via pointer maths.

Make everything more robust by having the compiler reduce the alignment
of the struct to 4. The userspace has assertions to ensure this
works properly in all situations.

Implement RDMA nldev netlink interface to get detailed CM_ID information.

Because cm_id's are attached to rdma devices in various work queue
contexts, the pid and task information at restrak_add() time is sometimes
not useful. For example, an nvme/f host connection cm_id ends up being
bound to a device in a work queue context and the resulting pid at attach
time no longer exists after connection setup. So instead we mark all
cm_id's created via the rdma_ucm as "user", and all others as "kernel".
This required tweaking the restrack code a little. It also required
wrapping some rdma_cm functions to allow passing the module name string.

Pull rdma updates from Doug Ledford:
"This is a fairly plain pull request. Lots of driver updates across the
stack, a huge number of static analysis cleanups including a close to
50 patch series from Bart Van Assche, and a number of new features
inside the stack such as general CQ moderation support.

Nothing really stands out, but there might be a few conflicts as you
take things in. In particular, the cleanups touched some of the same
lines as the new timer_setup changes.

Everything in this pull request has been through 0day and at least two
days of linux-next (since Stephen doesn't necessarily flag new
errors/warnings until day2). A few more items (about 30 patches) from
Intel and Mellanox showed up on the list on Tuesday. I've excluded
those from this pull request, and I'm sure some of them qualify as
fixes suitable to send any time, but I still have to review them
fully. If they contain mostly fixes and little or no new development,
then I will probably send them through by the end of the week just to
get them out of the way.

There was a break in my acceptance of patches which coincides with the
computer problems I had, and then when I got things mostly back under
control I had a backlog of patches to process, which I did mostly last
Friday and Monday. So there is a larger number of patches processed in
that timeframe than I was striving for.

Yonatan Cohen 18bd907292 IB/uverbs: Add CQ moderation capability to query_device
The query_device function can now obtain the maximum values for
cq_max_count and cq_period, needed for CQ moderation.
cq_max_count is a 16 bits number that determines the number
of CQEs to accumulate before generating an event.
cq_period is a 16 bits number that determines the timeout in micro
seconds from the last event generated, upon which a new event will
be generated even if cq_max_count was not reached.

CQ moderation enhance performance by moderating the number

Greg Kroah-Hartman e2be04c7f9 License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with a license
Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either
incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the
license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for
compliance tools to determine the correct license.

Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was
chosen based on the license information in the file.

GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license
identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is
the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall
exception:

NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".

This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL
code, without confusing license compliance tools.

Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed
under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX
identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format
is:
        ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE)

SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be
used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove
existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case
basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will
happen in a separate step.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the
methodology of how this patch was researched.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 6f52b16c5b License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with no license
Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which
makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default are files without license information under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude
them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not
intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception
which is in the kernels COPYING file:

NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".

otherwise syscall usage would not be possible.

Update the files which contain no license information with an SPDX
license identifier. The chosen identifier is 'GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note' which is the officially assigned identifier for the
Linux syscall exception. SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

Matan Barak 9ee79fce36 IB/core: Add completion queue (cq) object actions
Adding CQ ioctl actions:
1. create_cq
2. destroy_cq

This requires adding the following:
1. A specification describing the method
	a. Handler
	b. Attributes specification
Each attribute is one of the following:
		a. PTR_IN - input data
Note: This could be encoded inlined for
				  data < 64bit
		b. PTR_OUT - response data
		c. IDR - idr based object
		d. FD - fd based object
Blobs attributes (clauses a and b) contain their type,
while objects specifications (clauses c and d)
contains the expected object type (for example, the
given id should be UVERBS_TYPE_PD) and the required
access (READ, WRITE, NEW or DESTROY). If a NEW is
required, the new object's id will be assigned to this
attribute. All attributes could get UA_FLAGS
attribute. Currently we support stating that an
attribute is mandatory or that the specification size
corresponds to a lower bound (and that this attribute
		could be extended).
We currently add both default attributes and the two
generic UHW_IN and UHW_OUT driver specific attributes.
2. Handler
A handler gets a uverbs_attr_bundle. The handler developer uses
uverbs_attr_get to fetch an attribute of a given id.
Each of these attribute groups correspond to the specification
group defined in the action (clauses 1.b and 1.c respectively).
The indices of these arrays corresponds to the attribute ids
declared in the specifications (clause 2).

The handler is quite simple. It assumes the infrastructure fetched
all objects and locked, created or destroyed them as required by
the specification. Pointer (or blob) attributes were validated to
match their required sizes. After the handler finished, the
infrastructure commits or rollbacks the objects.

Matan Barak fac9658cab IB/core: Add new ioctl interface
In this ioctl interface, processing the command starts from
properties of the command and fetching the appropriate user objects
before calling the handler.

Parsing and validation is done according to a specifier declared by
the driver's code. In the driver, all supported objects are declared.
These objects are separated to different object namepsaces. Dividing
objects to namespaces is done at initialization by using the higher
bits of the object ids. This initialization can mix objects declared
in different places to one parsing tree using in this ioctl interface.

For each object we list all supported methods. Similarly to objects,
methods are separated to method namespaces too. Namespacing is done
similarly to the objects case. This could be used in order to add
methods to an existing object.

Each method has a specific handler, which could be either a default
handler or a driver specific handler.
Along with the handler, a bunch of attributes are specified as well.
Similarly to objects and method, attributes are namespaced and hashed
by their ids at initialization too. All supported attributes are
subject to automatic fetching and validation. These attributes include
the command, response and the method's related objects' ids.

When these entities (objects, methods and attributes) are used, the
high bits of the entities ids are used in order to calculate the hash
bucket index. Then, these high bits are masked out in order to have a
zero based index. Since we use these high bits for both bucketing and
namespacing, we get a compact representation and O(1) array access.
This is mandatory for efficient dispatching.

Each attribute has a type (PTR_IN, PTR_OUT, IDR and FD) and a length.
Attributes could be validated through some attributes, like:
(*) Minimum size / Exact size
(*) Fops for FD
(*) Object type for IDR

If an IDR/fd attribute is specified, the kernel also states the object
type and the required access (NEW, WRITE, READ or DESTROY).
All uobject/fd management is done automatically by the infrastructure,
meaning - the infrastructure will fail concurrent commands that at
least one of them requires concurrent access (WRITE/DESTROY),
synchronize actions with device removals (dissociate context events)
and take care of reference counting (increase/decrease) for concurrent
actions invocation. The reference counts on the actual kernel objects
shall be handled by the handlers.

[d] = Hash ids to groups using the high order bits

The right types table is also chosen by using the high bits from
the ids. Currently we have either default or driver specific groups.

Once validation and object fetching (or creation) completed, we call
the handler:
int (*handler)(struct ib_device *ib_dev, struct ib_uverbs_file *ufile,
               struct uverbs_attr_bundle *ctx);

ctx bundles attributes of different namespaces. Each element there
is an array of attributes which corresponds to one namespaces of
attributes. For example, in the usually used case:

Leon Romanovsky 1a6e7c31d7 RDMA/netlink: Add netlink device definitions to UAPI
Introduce new defines to rdma_netlink.h, so the RDMA configuration tool
will be able to communicate with RDMA subsystem by using the shared defines.

The addition of new client (NLDEV) revealed the fact that we exposed by
mistake the RDMA_NL_I40IW define which is not backed by any RDMA netlink
by now and it won't be exposed in the future too. So this patch reuses
the value and deletes the old defines.

The NLDEV operates with objects. The struct ib_device has two straightforward
objects: device itself and ports of that device.

This brings us to propose the following commands to work on those objects:
 * RDMA_NLDEV_CMD_{GET,SET,NEW,DEL} - works on ib_device itself
 * RDMA_NLDEV_CMD_PORT_{GET,SET,NEW,DEL} - works on ports of specific ib_device

Those commands receive/return the device index (RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_DEV_INDEX)
and port index (RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_PORT_INDEX). For device object accesses,
the RDMA_NLDEV_ATTR_PORT_INDEX will return the maximum number of ports
for specific ib_device and for port access the actual port index.

The port index starts from 1 to follow RDMA/core internal semantics and
the sysfs exposed knobs.

Guy Levi 400b1ebcfe IB/mlx4: Add support for WQ related verbs
Support create/modify/destroy WQ related verbs.

The base IB object to enable RSS functionality is a WQ (i.e. ib_wq).
This patch implements the related WQ verbs as of create, modify and
destroy.

In downstream patches the WQ will be used as part of an indirection
table (i.e. ib_rwq_ind_table) to enable RSS QP creation.

Notes:
ConnectX-3 hardware requires consecutive WQNs list as receive descriptor
queues for the RSS QP. Hence, the driver manages consecutive ranges lists
per context which the user must respect.
Destroying the WQ does not return its WQN back to its range for
reusing. However, destroying all WQs from the same range releases the
range and in turn releases its WQNs for reusing.

Since the WQ object is not a natural object in the hardware, the driver
implements the WQ by the hardware QP.

As such, the WQ inherits its port from its RSS QP parent upon its
RST->INIT transition and by that time its state is applied to the
hardware.

Or Gerlitz 7898489880 IB/mlx5: Enable Eth VFs to query their min-inline value for user-space
For some mlx5 HW models (CX4, CX4Lx), the VF driver needs to put part
of the packet headers on the TX descriptor so the e-switch can do proper
matching and steering. This is called "min-inline", it's advertized to
the VF by the FW and also enforced on them by the HW, such that if they
don't obey, their packets are dropped.

SRIOV VF libmlx5 instances should take into account the min-inline
value of their vports. For that end, we provide this value through
the vendor response part of init_ucontext command.

The min inline value is reported in a way which will let newer libmlx5
instances realize that they are running over an older kernel and act
accordingly (e.g apply some educated guess).

Adit Ranadive 29c8d9eba5 IB: Add vmw_pvrdma driver
This patch series adds a driver for a paravirtual RDMA device. The
device is developed for VMware's Virtual Machines and allows existing RDMA
applications to continue to use existing Verbs API when deployed in VMs
on ESXi. We recently did a presentation in the OFA Workshop [1] regarding
this device.

Description and RDMA Support
============================
The virtual device is exposed as a dual function PCIe device. One part
is a virtual network device (VMXNet3) which provides networking properties
like MAC, IP addresses to the RDMA part of the device. The networking
properties are used to register GIDs required by RDMA applications to
communicate.

These patches add support and the all required infrastructure for
letting applications use such a device. We support the mandatory Verbs API as
well as the base memory management extensions (Local Inv, Send with Inv and
Fast Register Work Requests). We currently support both Reliable Connected
and Unreliable Datagram QPs but do not support Shared Receive Queues
(SRQs).

Also, we support the following types of Work Requests:
o Send/Receive (with or without Immediate Data)
o RDMA Write (with or without Immediate Data)
 o RDMA Read
 o Local Invalidate
 o Send with Invalidate
 o Fast Register Work Requests

This version only adds support for version 1 of RoCE. We will add RoCEv2
support in a future patch. We do support registration of both MAC-based
and IP-based GIDs. I have also created a git tree for our user-level driver
[2].

Testing
=======
We have tested this internally for various types of Guest OS - Red Hat,
Centos, Ubuntu 12.04/14.04/16.04, Oracle Enterprise Linux, SLES 12
using backported versions of this driver. The tests included several
runs of the performance tests (included with OFED), Intel MPI PingPong
benchmark on OpenMPI, krping for FRWRs. Mellanox has been kind enough
to test the backported version of the driver internally on their hardware
using a VMware provided ESX build. I have also applied and tested this
with Doug's k.o/for-4.9 branch (commit 5603910b). Note, that this patch
series should be applied all together. I split out the commits so that
it may be easier to review.

An new uverbs command ib_uverbs_ex_modify_qp is added to support more QP
attributes. User driver should choose to call the legacy/extended API
based on input mask.

IB_USER_LAST_QP_ATTR_MASK is added to indicated the maximum bit position
which supports legacy ib_uverbs_modify_qp.
IB_USER_LEGACY_LAST_QP_ATTR_MASK indicates the maximum bit position
which supports ib_uverbs_ex_modify_qp, the value of this mask should be
updated if new mask is added later.

Along with this change, rate_limit is supported by the extended command,
user driver could use it to control packet packing.

Enable mlx5 based hardware to report packet pacing capabilities
from kernel to user space. Packet pacing allows to limit the rate to any
number between the maximum and minimum, based on user settings.

The capabilities are exposed to user space through query_device by uhw.
The following capabilities are reported:

1. The maximum and minimum rate limit in kbps supported by packet pacing.
2. Bitmap showing which QP types are supported by packet pacing operation.

Moni Shoua 8700e3e7c4 Soft RoCE driver
Soft RoCE (RXE) - The software RoCE driver

ib_rxe implements the RDMA transport and registers to the RDMA core
device as a kernel verbs provider. It also implements the packet IO
layer. On the other hand ib_rxe registers to the Linux netdev stack
as a udp encapsulating protocol, in that case RDMA, for sending and
receiving packets over any Ethernet device. This yields a RDMA
transport over the UDP/Ethernet network layer forming a RoCEv2
compatible device.

The configuration procedure of the Soft RoCE drivers requires
binding to any existing Ethernet network device. This is done with
/sys interface.

A userspace Soft RoCE library (librxe) provides user applications
the ability to run with Soft RoCE devices. The use of rxe verbs ins
user space requires the inclusion of librxe as a device specifics
plug-in to libibverbs. librxe is packaged separately.

Added UCMA and CMA support for multicast join flags. Flags are
passed using UCMA CM join command previously reserved fields.
Currently supporting two join flags indicating two different
multicast JoinStates:

1. Full Member:
The initiator creates the Multicast group(MCG) if it wasn't
previously created, can send Multicast messages to the group
and receive messages from the MCG.

2. Send Only Full Member:
The initiator creates the Multicast group(MCG) if it wasn't
previously created, can send Multicast messages to the group
but doesn't receive any messages from the MCG.

IB: Send Only Full Member requires a query of ClassPortInfo
to determine if SM/SA supports this option. If SM/SA
doesn't support Send-Only there will be no join request
sent and an error will be returned.

Ira Weiny c492980269 IB/hfi1: Allow for non-double word multiple message sizes for user SDMA
The driver pads non-double word multiple message sizes but it doesn't
account for this padding when the packet length is calculated. Also, the
data length is miscalculated for message sizes less than 4 bytes due to
the bit representation in LRH. And there's a check for non-double word
multiple message sizes that prevents these messages from being sent.
This patch fixes length miscalculations and enables the functionality to

hfi1 current exports a cdev that can be used to target all of the hfi's

that the devices could be on different subnets. This is a problem that
user space can figure out and explicitly tell the driver on which device
to create a context.

Remove the multi-purpose cdev leaving a dedicated cdev for each port.
Also remove the striping capability that is dependent upon the user
choosing the multi-purpose cdev. It is now up to user space to determine
how to stripe contexts.

Eli Cohen 02d1aa7af1 IB/core: Add support for extended query device caps
Add extensible query device capabilities verb to allow adding new features.
ib_uverbs_ex_query_device is added and copy_query_dev_fields is used to copy
capability fields to be used by both ib_uverbs_query_device and
ib_uverbs_ex_query_device.

Following the discussion about this patch [1], the code now validates
the command's comp_mask is zero, returning -EINVAL for unknown values,
in order to allow extending the verb in the future.

The verb also checks the user-space provided response buffer size and
only fills in capabilities that will fit in the buffer. In attempt to
follow the spirit of presentation [2] by Tzahi Oved that was presented
during OpenFabrics Alliance International Developer Workshop 2013, the
comp_mask bits will only describe which fields are valid. Furthermore,
fields that can simply be cleared when they are not supported, do not
require a comp_mask bit at all. The verb returns a response_length
field containing the actual number of bytes written by the kernel, so
that a newer version running on an older kernel can tell which fields
were actually returned.

Yann Droneaud 43c6116573 Revert "IB/core: Add support for extended query device caps"
While commit 7e36ef8205 ("IB/core: Temporarily disable
ex_query_device uverb") is correct as it makes the extended
QUERY_DEVICE uverb (which came as part of commit 5a77abf9a9
("IB/core: Add support for extended query device caps") and commit
860f10a799 ("IB/core: Add flags for on demand paging support")) not
available to userspace, it doesn't address the initial issue regarding
ib_copy_to_udata() [1][2].

Additionally, further discussions around this new uverb seems to
conclude it would require a different data structure than the one
currently described in <rdma/ib_user_verbs.h> [3].

Both of these issues require a revert of the changes, so this patch
partially reverts commit 8cdd312cfe ("IB/mlx5: Implement the ODP
capability query verb") and commit 860f10a799 ("IB/core: Add flags
for on demand paging support") and fully reverts commit 5a77abf9a9

Tatyana Nikolova 30dc5e63d6 RDMA/core: Add support for iWARP Port Mapper user space service
This patch adds iWARP Port Mapper (IWPM) Version 2 support. The iWARP
Port Mapper implementation is based on the port mapper specification
section in the Sockets Direct Protocol paper -
http://www.rdmaconsortium.org/home/draft-pinkerton-iwarp-sdp-v1.0.pdf

Existing iWARP RDMA providers use the same IP address as the native
TCP/IP stack when creating RDMA connections. They need a mechanism to
claim the TCP ports used for RDMA connections to prevent TCP port
collisions when other host applications use TCP ports. The iWARP Port
Mapper provides a standard mechanism to accomplish this. Without this
service it is possible for RDMA application to bind/listen on the same
port which is already being used by native TCP host application. If
that happens the incoming TCP connection data can be passed to the
RDMA stack with error.

The iWARP Port Mapper solution doesn't contain any changes to the
existing network stack in the kernel space. All the changes are
contained with the infiniband tree and also in user space.

The iWARP Port Mapper service is implemented as a user space daemon
process. Source for the IWPM service is located at
http://git.openfabrics.org/git?p=~tnikolova/libiwpm-1.0.0/.git;a=summary

The iWARP driver (port mapper client) sends to the IWPM service the
local IP address and TCP port it has received from the RDMA
application, when starting a connection. The IWPM service performs a
socket bind from user space to get an available TCP port, called a
mapped port, and communicates it back to the client. In that sense,
the IWPM service is used to map the TCP port, which the RDMA
application uses to any port available from the host TCP port
space. The mapped ports are used in iWARP RDMA connections to avoid
collisions with native TCP stack which is aware that these ports are
taken. When an RDMA connection using a mapped port is terminated, the
client notifies the IWPM service, which then releases the TCP port.

The message exchange between the IWPM service and the iWARP drivers
(between user space and kernel space) is implemented using netlink
sockets.

1) Netlink interface functions are added: ibnl_unicast() and
ibnl_mulitcast() for sending netlink messages to user space

2) The signature of the existing ibnl_put_msg() is changed to be more
   generic

3) Two netlink clients are added: RDMA_NL_NES, RDMA_NL_C4IW
corresponding to the two iWarp drivers - nes and cxgb4 which use
   the IWPM service

4) Enums are added to enumerate the attributes in the netlink
messages, which are exchanged between the user space IWPM service
   and the iWARP drivers

Yann Droneaud f21519b23c IB/core: extended command: an improved infrastructure for uverbs commands
Commit 400dbc9658 ("IB/core: Infrastructure for extensible uverbs
commands") added an infrastructure for extensible uverbs commands
while later commit 436f2ad05a ("IB/core: Export ib_create/destroy_flow
through uverbs") exported ib_create_flow()/ib_destroy_flow() functions
using this new infrastructure.

According to the commit 400dbc9658, the purpose of this
infrastructure is to support passing around provider (eg. hardware)
specific buffers when userspace issue commands to the kernel, so that
it would be possible to extend uverbs (eg. core) buffers independently
from the provider buffers.

But the new kernel command function prototypes were not modified to
take advantage of this extension. This issue was exposed by Roland
Dreier in a previous review[1].

So the following patch is an attempt to a revised extensible command
infrastructure.

This improved extensible command infrastructure distinguish between
core (eg. legacy)'s command/response buffers from provider
(eg. hardware)'s command/response buffers: each extended command
implementing function is given a struct ib_udata to hold core
(eg. uverbs) input and output buffers, and another struct ib_udata to
hold the hw (eg. provider) input and output buffers.

Having those buffers identified separately make it easier to increase
one buffer to support extension without having to add some code to
guess the exact size of each command/response parts: This should make
the extended functions more reliable.

Additionally, instead of relying on command identifier being greater
than IB_USER_VERBS_CMD_THRESHOLD, the proposed infrastructure rely on
unused bits in command field: on the 32 bits provided by command
field, only 6 bits are really needed to encode the identifier of
commands currently supported by the kernel. (Even using only 6 bits
leaves room for about 23 new commands).

So this patch makes use of some high order bits in command field to
store flags, leaving enough room for more command identifiers than one
will ever need (eg. 256).

The new flags are used to specify if the command should be processed
as an extended one or a legacy one. While designing the new command
format, care was taken to make usage of flags itself extensible.

Using high order bits of the commands field ensure that newer
libibverbs on older kernel will properly fail when trying to call
extended commands. On the other hand, older libibverbs on newer kernel
will never be able to issue calls to extended commands.

The extended command header includes the optional response pointer so
that output buffer length and output buffer pointer are located
together in the command, allowing proper parameters checking. This
should make implementing functions easier and safer.

Additionally the extended header ensure 64bits alignment, while making
all sizes multiple of 8 bytes, extending the maximum buffer size:

                             legacy extended

   Maximum command buffer: 256KBytes 1024KBytes (512KBytes + 512KBytes)
  Maximum response buffer: 256KBytes 1024KBytes (512KBytes + 512KBytes)

For the purpose of doing proper buffer size accounting, the headers
size are no more taken in account in "in_words".

One of the odds of the current extensible infrastructure, reading
twice the "legacy" command header, is fixed by removing the "legacy"
command header from the extended command header: they are processed as
two different parts of the command: memory is read once and
information are not duplicated: it's making clear that's an extended
command scheme and not a different command scheme.

The proposed scheme will format input (command) and output (response)
buffers this way:

- command:

  legacy header +
  extended header +
  command data (core + hw):

    +----------------------------------------+
    | flags | 00 00 | command |
    | in_words | out_words |
    +----------------------------------------+
    | response |
    | response |
    | provider_in_words | provider_out_words |
    | padding |
    +----------------------------------------+
    | |
    . <uverbs input> .
    . (in_words * 8) .
    | |
    +----------------------------------------+
    | |
    . <provider input> .
    . (provider_in_words * 8) .
    | |
    +----------------------------------------+

- response, if present:

    +----------------------------------------+
    | |
    . <uverbs output space> .
    . (out_words * 8) .
    | |
    +----------------------------------------+
    | |
    . <provider output space> .
    . (provider_out_words * 8) .
    | |
    +----------------------------------------+

The overall design is to ensure that the extensible infrastructure is
itself extensible while begin more reliable with more input and bound
checking.

Note:

The unused field in the extended header would be perfect candidate to
hold the command "comp_mask" (eg. bit field used to handle
compatibility). This was suggested by Roland Dreier in a previous
review[2]. But "comp_mask" field is likely to be present in the uverb
input and/or provider input, likewise for the response, as noted by
Matan Barak[3], so it doesn't make sense to put "comp_mask" in the
header.

Igor Ivanov 400dbc9658 IB/core: Infrastructure for extensible uverbs commands
Add infrastructure to support extended uverbs capabilities in a
forward/backward manner. Uverbs command opcodes which are based on
the verbs extensions approach should be greater or equal to
IB_USER_VERBS_CMD_THRESHOLD. They have new header format and
processed a bit differently.

Whenever a specific IB_USER_VERBS_CMD_XXX is extended, which practically means
it needs to have additional arguments, we will be able to add them without creating
a completely new IB_USER_VERBS_CMD_YYY command or bumping the uverbs ABI version.

This patch for itself doesn't provide the whole scheme which is also dependent
on adding a comp_mask field to each extended uverbs command struct.

The new header framework allows for future extension of the CMD arguments
(ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words, ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.out_words) for an existing
new command (that is a command that supports the new uverbs command header format
suggested in this patch) w/o bumping ABI version and with maintaining backward
and formward compatibility to new and old libibverbs versions.

In the uverbs command we are passing both uverbs arguments and the provider arguments.
We split the ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words to ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words which will now carry only
uverbs input argument struct size and ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.provider_in_words that will carry
the provider input argument size. Same goes for the response (the uverbs CMD output argument).

For example take the create_cq call and the mlx4_ib provider:

The uverbs layer gets libibverb's struct ibv_create_cq (named struct ib_uverbs_create_cq
in the kernel), mlx4_ib gets libmlx4's struct mlx4_create_cq (which includes struct
ibv_create_cq and is named struct mlx4_ib_create_cq in the kernel) and
in_words = sizeof(mlx4_create_cq)/4 .

Thus ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words carry both uverbs plus mlx4_ib input argument sizes,
where uverbs assumes it knows the size of its input argument - struct ibv_create_cq.

Now, if we wish to add a variable to struct ibv_create_cq, we can add a comp_mask field
to the struct which is basically bit field indicating which fields exists in the struct
(as done for the libibverbs API extension), but we need a way to tell what is the total
size of the struct and not assume the struct size is predefined (since we may get different
struct sizes from different user libibverbs versions). So we know at which point the
provider input argument (struct mlx4_create_cq) begins. Same goes for extending the
provider struct mlx4_create_cq. Thus we split the ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words to
ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.in_words which will now carry only uverbs input argument struct size and
ib_uverbs_cmd_hdr.provider_in_words that will carry the provider (mlx4_ib) input argument size.

reversible alternate path for CM MADs.

(It is unclear at this time if IB routing will complicate this) In
order to handle more flexible routing topologies, add a new command to
report any number of paths.

Sean Hefty ee7aed4528 RDMA/ucma: Support querying for AF_IB addresses
The sockaddr structure for AF_IB is larger than sockaddr_in6. The
rdma cm user space ABI uses the latter to exchange address information
between user space and the kernel.

To support querying for larger addresses, define a new query command
that exchanges data using sockaddr_storage, rather than sockaddr_in6.
Unlike the existing query_route command, the new command only returns
address information. Route (i.e. path record) data is separated.

Sean Hefty 5c438135ad RDMA/cma: Set qkey for AF_IB
Allow the user to specify the qkey when using AF_IB. The qkey is
added to struct rdma_ucm_conn_param in place of a reserved field, but
for backwards compatability, is only accessed if the associated
rdma_cm_id is using AF_IB.

Shani Michaeli 6b52a12bc3 IB/uverbs: Implement memory windows support in uverbs
The existing user/kernel uverbs API has IB_USER_VERBS_CMD_ALLOC/DEALLOC_MW.
Implement these calls, along with destroying user memory windows during
process cleanup.
