ARM: SAMSUNG: Remove pwm-clock infrastructure
Since all the used PWM prescalers and dividers configuration has been moved to appropriate drivers, the pwm-clock infrastructure is now unused and so this patch removes it. ARM SoC driver specific changes
These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto, dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to have these changes merged through arm-soc. As we proceed to untangle the dependencies between platform code and driver code, the amount of changes in this category is fortunately shrinking, for 3.11 we have 16 branches here and 101 non-merge changesets, the majority of which are for the stedma40 dma engine driver used in the ux500 platform. Cleaning up that code touches multiple subsystems, but gets rid of the dependency in the end. The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox is an intermediate step and is still omap specific at the moment. Patches exist to generalize the subsystem and add other drivers with the same API, but those did not make it for 3.11. ARM SoC device tree changes
These changes from 30 individual branches for the most part update device tree files, but there are also a few source code changes that have crept in this time, usually in order to atomically move over a driver from using hardcoded data to DT probing. A number of platforms change their DT files to use the C preprocessor, which is causing a bit of churn, but that is hopefully only this once. There are a few conflicts with the other branches unfortunately: * in exynos5440.dtsi and kirkwood-6281.dtsi, device nodes are added from multiple branches. Need to be careful to have the right set of closing braces as git gets this one wrong. * In kirkwood.dtsi, one 'ranges' line got split into two lines, while another line got added. Order of the lines does not matter. * in sama5d3.dtsi, some cleanup was merged the wrong way, causing a bogus conflict. ARM SoC specific changes
These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on 17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS. Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all, since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl, interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the respective subsystem maintainer trees. One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others (shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving towards that goal with this series but need more work. Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx) are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added. cpufreq: rename index as driver_data in cpufreq_frequency_table
The "index" field of struct cpufreq_frequency_table was never an index and isn't used at all by the cpufreq core. It only is useful for cpufreq drivers for their internal purposes. Many people nowadays blindly set it in ascending order with the assumption that the core will use it, which is a mistake. Rename it to "driver_data" as that's what its purpose is. ARM: S3C24XX: split s3c2412 spi dma channels
While s3c24xx before s3c2412 (2410, 2440, 2442) use one dma channel for both sending and receiving spi data, all later s3c24xx socs use separate channels. To keep with the structure of "one spi channel" s3c2412 introduced a channel_rx attribute to the map and selects the correct request channel depending on the dma direction, hiding the underlying separation from view. The s3c24xx-spi driver, which would need this, currently does not use dma at all, but as s3c2443 has both highspeed (spi0) and regular (spi1) controllers and also uses the split scheme a future dma support for s3c24xx-spi would in any case need to differentiate between old-style and new-style spi channel structure. ARM: arm-soc driver changes for 3.10
This is a rather large set of patches for device drivers that for one
reason or another the subsystem maintainer preferred to get merged
through the arm-soc tree. There are both new drivers as well as
existing drivers that are getting converted from platform-specific
code into standalone drivers using the appropriate subsystem
specific interfaces.
In particular, we can now have pinctrl, clk, clksource and irqchip
drivers in one file per driver, without the need to call into
platform specific interface, or to get called from platform specific
code, as long as all information about the hardware is provided
through a device tree.
Most of the drivers we touch this time are for clocksource. Since
now most of them are part of drivers/clocksource, I expect that we
won't have to touch these again from arm-soc and can let the
clocksource maintainers take care of these in the future.
Another larger part of this series is specific to the exynos platform,
which is seeing some significant effort in upstreaming and
modernization of its device drivers this time around, which
unfortunately is also the cause for the churn and a lot of the
merge conflicts.
There is one new subsystem that gets merged as part of this series:
the reset controller interface, which is a very simple interface
for taking devices on the SoC out of reset or back into reset.
Patches to use this interface on i.MX follow later in this merge
window, and we are going to have other platforms (at least tegra
and sirf) get converted in 3.11. This will let us get rid of
platform specific callbacks in a number of platform independent
device drivers.

discussion if we need additional arbitration on top of the one

was in the way for other cleanups. attach_adapter() is sadly still
there since there are users waiting to be converted.
- the core gained a bus recovery infrastructure. I2C defines a way to
recover if the data line is stalled. This mechanism is now in the
core and drivers can now pass some data to make use of it.

tty: serial/samsung: make register definitions global
The registers for the Samsung S3C serial port are currently defined in the platform specific arch/arm/plat-samsung/include/plat/regs-serial.h file, which is not visible to multiplatform capable drivers. Unfortunately, it is not possible to move the file into a more local place as we should normally try to, because the same registers may be used in one of four places: * In the driver itself * In platform-independent ARM code for early debug output * In platform_data definitions * In the Samsung platform power management code I have also found no way to logically split out a platform_data file, other than possibly move everything into include/linux/platform_data, which also felt wrong. The only part of this file that makes sense to keep specific to the s3c24xx platform are the virtual and physical addresses defined here, which are needed in no other location. cpufreq: Notify all policy->cpus in cpufreq_notify_transition()
policy->cpus contains all online cpus that have single shared clock line. And their frequencies are always updated together. Many SMP system's cpufreq drivers take care of this in individual drivers but the best place for this code is in cpufreq core. This patch modifies cpufreq_notify_transition() to notify frequency change for all cpus in policy->cpus and hence updates all users of this API.
