powerpc/xics: Properly set Edge/Level type and enable resend
This sets the type of the interrupt appropriately. We set it as follow: - If not mapped from the device-tree, we use edge. This is the case of the virtual interrupts and PCI MSIs for example. - If mapped from the device-tree and #interrupt-cells is 2 (PAPR compliant), we use the second cell to set the appropriate type - If mapped from the device-tree and #interrupt-cells is 1 (current OPAL on P8 does that), we assume level sensitive since those are typically going to be the PSI LSIs which are level sensitive. Additionally, we mark the interrupts requested via the opal_interrupts property all level. This is a bit fishy but the best we can do until we fix OPAL to properly expose them with a complete descriptor. It is also correct for the current HW anyway as OPAL interrupts are currently PCI error and PSI interrupts which are level. Finally now that edge interrupts are properly identified, we can enable CONFIG_HARDIRQS_SW_RESEND which will make the core re-send them if they occur while masked, which some drivers rely upon. This fixes issues with lost interrupts on some Mellanox adapters. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> |

powerpc/fsl_rio: fix a missing error code

dma-mapping: use unsigned long for dma_attrs
The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data. However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned long will do fine: 1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits. 2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the attributes are passed by value. Semantic patches for this change (at least most of them): virtual patch virtual context @r@ identifier f, attrs; @@ f(..., - struct dma_attrs *attrs + unsigned long attrs , ...) { ... } @@ identifier r.f; @@ f(..., - NULL + 0 ) and // Options: --all-includes virtual patch virtual context @r@ identifier f, attrs; type t; @@ t f(..., struct dma_attrs *attrs); @@ identifier r.f; @@ f(..., - NULL + 0 ) Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/1468399300-5399-2-git-send-email-k.kozlowski@samsung.com Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <k.kozlowski@samsung.com> Acked-by: Vineet Gupta <vgupta@synopsys.com> Acked-by: Robin Murphy <robin.murphy@arm.com> Acked-by: Hans-Christian Noren Egtvedt <egtvedt@samfundet.no> Acked-by: Mark Salter <msalter@redhat.com> [c6x] Acked-by: Jesper Nilsson <jesper.nilsson@axis.com> [cris] Acked-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> [drm] Reviewed-by: Bart Van Assche <bart.vanassche@sandisk.com> Acked-by: Joerg Roedel <jroedel@suse.de> [iommu] Acked-by: Fabien Dessenne <fabien.dessenne@st.com> [bdisp] Reviewed-by: Marek Szyprowski <m.szyprowski@samsung.com> [vb2-core] Acked-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com> [xen] Acked-by: Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk <konrad.wilk@oracle.com> [xen swiotlb] Acked-by: Joerg Roedel <jroedel@suse.de> [iommu] Acked-by: Richard Kuo <rkuo@codeaurora.org> [hexagon] Acked-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> [m68k] Acked-by: Gerald Schaefer <gerald.schaefer@de.ibm.com> [s390] Acked-by: Bjorn Andersson <bjorn.andersson@linaro.org> Acked-by: Hans-Christian Noren Egtvedt <egtvedt@samfundet.no> [avr32] Acked-by: Vineet Gupta <vgupta@synopsys.com> [arc] Acked-by: Robin Murphy <robin.murphy@arm.com> [arm64 and dma-iommu] Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> |

rapidio: change inbound window size type to u64
Current definition of map_inb() mport operations callback uses u32 type to specify required inbound window (IBW) size. This is limiting factor because existing hardware - tsi721 and fsl_rio, both support IBW size up to 16GB. Changing type of size parameter to u64 to allow IBW size configurations larger than 4GB. libnvdimm for 4.8
1/ Replace pcommit with ADR / directed-flushing: The pcommit instruction, which has not shipped on any product, is deprecated. Instead, the requirement is that platforms implement either ADR, or provide one or more flush addresses per nvdimm. ADR (Asynchronous DRAM Refresh) flushes data in posted write buffers to the memory controller on a power-fail event. Flush addresses are defined in ACPI 6.x as an NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT) sub-structure: "Flush Hint Address Structure". A flush hint is an mmio address that when written and fenced assures that all previous posted writes targeting a given dimm have been flushed to media. 2/ On-demand ARS (address range scrub): Linux uses the results of the ACPI ARS commands to track bad blocks in pmem devices. When latent errors are detected we re-scrub the media to refresh the bad block list, userspace can also request a re-scrub at any time. 3/ Support for the Microsoft DSM (device specific method) command format. 4/ Support for EDK2/OVMF virtual disk device memory ranges. 5/ Various fixes and cleanups across the subsystem. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXmXBsAAoJEB7SkWpmfYgCEwwP/1IOt9ocP+iHLMDH9KE7VaTZ NmUDR+Zy6g5cRQM7SgcuU5BXUcx+OsSrSrUTVF1cW994o9Gbz1mFotkv0ZAsPcYY ZVRQxo2oqHrssyOcg+PsgKWiXn68rJOCgmpEyzaJywl5qTMst7pzsT1s1f7rSh6h trCf4VaJJwxZR8fARGtlHUnnhPe2Orp99EZRKEWprAsIv2kPuWpPHSjRjuEgN1JG KW8AYwWqFTtiLRUk86I4KBB0wcDrfctsjgN9Ogd6+aHyQBRnVSr2U+vDCFkC8KLu qiDCpYp+yyxBjclnljz7tRRT3GtzfCUWd4v2KVWqgg2IaobUc0Lbukp/rmikUXQP WLikT2OCQ994eFK5OX3Q3cIU/4j459TQnof8q14yVSpjAKrNUXVSR5puN7Hxa+V7 41wKrAsnsyY1oq+Yd/rMR8VfH7PHx3bFkrmRCGZCufLX1UQm4aYj+sWagDKiV3yA DiudghbOnhfurfGsnXUVw7y7GKs+gNWNBmB6ndAD6ZEHmKoGUhAEbJDLCc3DnANl b/2mv1MIdIcC1DlCmnbbcn6fv6bICe/r8poK3VrCK3UgOq/EOvKIWl7giP+k1JuC 6DdVYhlNYIVFXUNSLFAwz8OkLu8byx7WDm36iEqrKHtPw+8qa/2bWVgOU6OBgpjV cN3edFVIdxvZeMgM5Ubq =xCBG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm Pull libnvdimm updates from Dan Williams: - Replace pcommit with ADR / directed-flushing. powerpc/dart: Use a cachable DART
Instead of punching a hole in the linear mapping, just use normal cachable memory, and apply the flush sequence documented in the CPC625 (aka U3) user manual. This allows us to remove quite a bit of code related to the early allocation of the DART and the hole in the linear mapping. We can also get rid of the copy of the DART for suspend/resume as the original memory can just be saved/restored now, as long as we properly sync the caches. powerpc: Make ppc_md.{halt, restart} __noreturn
powernv marks it's halt and restart calls as __noreturn. However, ppc_md does not have this annotation. Add the annotation to ppc_md, and then to every halt/restart function that is missing it. Additionally, I have verified that all of these functions do not return. Occasionally I have added a spin loop to be sure. pmem: kill __pmem address space
The __pmem address space was meant to annotate codepaths that touch persistent memory and need to coordinate a call to wmb_pmem(). powerpc/8xx: Fix vaddr for IMMR early remap

On most mpc8xx boards it is OK as IMMR is set to 0xff000000 but for instance on EP88xC board, IMMR is at 0xfa200000 which overlaps with VM ioremap area This patch fixes the virtual address for remapping IMMR with the fixmap regardless of the value of IMMR. DAX error handling for 4.7
- Until now, dax has been disabled if media errors were found on any device. This enables the use of DAX in the presence of these errors by making all sector-aligned zeroing go through the driver. - The driver (already) has the ability to clear errors on writes that are sent through the block layer using 'DSMs' defined in ACPI 6.1. Other misc changes: - When mounting DAX filesystems, check to make sure the partition is page aligned. This is a requirement for DAX, and previously, we allowed such unaligned mounts to succeed, but subsequent reads/writes would fail. - Misc/cleanup fixes from Jan that remove unused code from DAX related to zeroing, writeback, and some size checks. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJXQ4GKAAoJEHr6Yb6juE3/zowP/iclIhgXXXMQJRUHJlePMXC8 15sGZ32JS1ak9g7vrsmNVEDNynfNtiMYdBxtUyRuj6xqgwdZvFk3F55KOCPtaeA1 +yADkgeRkTAcwzmHw9WQVEzBCqyzSisdrwtEfH817qdq9FJdH66x2Kos6i+HeAVr 5Q/e4gs7lKrjf384/QBl+wxNZOndJaQAPd2VRHQqx2A9F33v0ljdwRaUG1r4fjK2 dtmhcZCqdQyuAGXW3piTnZc5ZFc3DPqO4FkEfqkEK3lFOflK0fd8wMsAZRp/Jd0j GJsgnVSWSqG0Dz476djlG0w8t2p5Jv1g9cKChV+ZZEdFLKWHCOUFqXNj8uI8I4k5 cOEKCHyJ3IwfSHhNQqktEWrQN4T8ZXhWtuc9GuV4UZYuqJqHci6EdR/YsWsJjV+L lm/qvK4ipDS1pivxOy8KX/iN0z7Io8J9GXpStDx3g8iWjLlh4YYlbJLWeeRepo/z aPlV/QAKcHiGY6jzLExrZIyCWkzwo6O+0p1Kxerv9/7K/32HWbOodZ+tC8eD+N25 pV69nCGf+u50T2TtIx1+iann4NC1r7zg5yqnT9AgpyZpiwR5joCDzI5sXW+D0rcS vPtfM84Ccdeq/e6mvfIpZgR0/npQapKnrmUest0J7P2BFPHiFPji1KzZ7M+1aFOo 9R6JdrAj0Sc+FBa+cGzH =v6Of -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'dax-misc-for-4.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm Pull misc DAX updates from Vishal Verma: "DAX error handling for 4.7 - Until now, dax has been disabled if media errors were found on any device. powerpc/fsl-pci: Add a workaround for PCI 5 errata
Issue: As a master, the PCI IP block can combine a memory write to the last PCI double word (4 bytes) of a cacheline with a 4 byte memory write to the first PCI double word of the subsequent cacheline. This affects 32-bit PCI target devices that blindly assert STOP on memory-write transactions, without detecting that the data beat being transferred is the last data beat of the transaction. It can cause a hang. PCI-X operation is not affected by this erratum. Workaround: Setting the bit MDS in the PCI Bus Function Register will disable the combining of crossing cacheline boundary requests into one burst transaction. Therefore, it can prevent the errata scenario from occurring. This errata exists in MPC8543, MPC8543E, MPC8545, MPC8545E, MPC8547, MPC8547E, MPC8548 and MPC8548E. Refer to PCI 5 in MPC8548 errata document. rapidio: add global inbound port write interfaces
Add new Port Write handler registration interfaces that attach PW handlers to local mport device objects. This is different from old interface that attaches PW callback to individual RapidIO device. The new interfaces are intended for use for common event handling (e.g. hot-plug notifications) while the old interface is available for individual device drivers. This patch is based on patch proposed by Andre van Herk but preserves existing per-device interface and adds lock protection for list handling. This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6:
Core changes: - The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in space outside of the device model. We now finally make GPIO chips devices. The gpio_chip will create a gpio_device which contains a struct device, and this gpio_device struct is kept private. Anything that needs to be kept private from the rest of the kernel will gradually be moved over to the gpio_device. - As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this. - Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step of a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool "lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all lines on these devices. We can now discover GPIOs properly from userspace. We still have not come up with a way to actually *use* GPIOs from userspace. - To encourage people to use the character device for the future, we have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is still opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as deprecated. We will keep it around for the foreseeable future, but it will not be extended to cover ever more use cases. Cleanup: - Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h> includes. This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and no shared library even existed: just a header file with proper prototypes was provided and all semantics were up to the arch to implement. These patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper device and cleans out leftovers of the old in-kernel API here and there. Still some cruft is left but it's very little now. - There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going on, but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers and the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin and unicore still drop in. - We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO implementations to use gpiochip_add_data() and cut down on code lines. - MPC8xxx is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. - ATH79 is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. powerpc/885: set SDCR to 0x40
The MPC885 reference manual says that SDCR shall have value 0x40, but most exemples set SDCR to 0x1 With 0x1 in SDCR, we observe TX underruns on SCC when using it in QMC mode. According the NXP technical support, this is a copy/paste error from MPC860 reference manual, 0x40 being the only value supported by the MPC885 HW. powerpc/xics: Add icp_native_cause_ipi_rm
Function to cause an IPI by directly updating the MFFR register in the XICS. The function is meant for real-mode callers since they cannot use the smp_ops->cause_ipi function which uses an ioremapped address. Normal usage is for the the KVM real mode code to set the IPI message using smp_muxed_ipi_message_pass and then invoke icp_native_cause_ipi_rm to cause the actual IPI. The function requires kvm_hstate.xics_phys to have been initialized with the physical address of XICS. mm, dax, pmem: introduce pfn_t
For the purpose of communicating the optional presence of a 'struct page' for the pfn returned from ->direct_access(), introduce a type that encapsulates a page-frame-number plus flags. These flags contain the historical "page_link" encoding for a scatterlist entry, but can also denote "device memory". Where "device memory" is a set of pfns that are not part of the kernel's linear mapping by default, but are accessed via the same memory controller as ram. The motivation for this new type is large capacity persistent memory that needs struct page entries in the 'memmap' to support 3rd party DMA (i.e. O_DIRECT I/O with a persistent memory source/target). However, we also need it in support of maintaining a list of mapped inodes which need to be unmapped at driver teardown or freeze_bdev() time. powerpc/85xx: Add PCIe controller support for bsc9132qds
1. Use machine_arch_initcall to hook mpc85xx_common_publish_devices This can ensure before pcibios_init() is called, pci controllers have been probed and added to the hose_list. 2. Add a workaround for errata A-005434 For the BSC9132, PEX_PEXIWARn[TRGT] for all windows defaults to 0xF, which is mapped to CCSRBAR. However, for other products, 0xF is mapped to the local memory. Therefore, for the BSC9132, any default PCI Express access to the local memory (DDR) will now access the CCSRBAR. This patch changes the mapping of targets of inbound windows PEX_PEXIWARn[TRGT] to the Local address space – 0x0 (from 0xF). Merge branch 'for-4.4/io-poll' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block
Pull block IO poll support from Jens Axboe: "Various groups have been doing experimentation around IO polling for (really) fast devices. The code has been reviewed and has been sitting on the side for a few releases, but this is now good enough for coordinated benchmarking and further experimentation. Currently O_DIRECT sync read/write are supported. A framework is in the works that allows scalable stats tracking so we can auto-tune this. And we'll add libaio support as well soon. Fow now, it's an opt-in feature for test purposes" * 'for-4.4/io-poll' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block: direct-io: be sure to assign dio->bio_bdev for both paths directio: add block polling support NVMe: add blk polling support block: add block polling support blk-mq: return tag/queue combo in the make_request_fn handlers block: change ->make_request_fn() and users to return a queue cookie |

uaccess: reimplement probe_kernel_address() using probe_kernel_read()
probe_kernel_address() is basically the same as the (later added) probe_kernel_read(). The return value on EFAULT is a bit different: probe_kernel_address() returns number-of-bytes-not-copied whereas probe_kernel_read() returns -EFAULT. All callers have been checked, none cared. probe_kernel_read() can be overridden by the architecture whereas probe_kernel_address() cannot. parisc, blackfin and um do this, to insert additional checking. Hence this patch possibly fixes obscure bugs, although there are only two probe_kernel_address() callsites outside arch/. My first attempt involved removing probe_kernel_address() entirely and converting all callsites to use probe_kernel_read() directly, but that got tiresome. This patch shrinks mm/slab_common.o by 218 bytes. For a single probe_kernel_address() callsite. powerpc/msi: Fix section mismatch warning in msi_bitmap_alloc()
Building with CONFIG_DEBUG_SECTION_MISMATCH gives the following warning: The function .msi_bitmap_alloc() references the function __init .memblock_virt_alloc_try_nid(). Memory allocation in msi_bitmap_alloc() uses either slab allocator or memblock boot time allocator depending on slab_is_available(). So the section mismatch warning is correct, but in practice there is no bug so mark msi_bitmap_alloc() as __init_refok. powerpc: mpic: use IRQCHIP_SKIP_SET_WAKE instead of redundant mpic_irq_set_wake
mpic_irq_set_wake return -ENXIO for non FSL MPIC and sets IRQF_NO_SUSPEND flag for FSL ones. enable_irq_wake already returns -ENXIO if irq_set_wak is not implemented. Also there's no need to set the IRQF_NO_SUSPEND flag as it doesn't guarantee wakeup for that interrupt. This patch removes the redundant mpic_irq_set_wake and sets the IRQCHIP_SKIP_SET_WAKE for only FSL MPIC. powerpc/MSI: Fix race condition in tearing down MSI interrupts
This fixes a race which can result in the same virtual IRQ number being assigned to two different MSI interrupts. The most visible consequence of that is usually a warning and stack trace from the sysfs code about an attempt to create a duplicate entry in sysfs. The race happens when one CPU (say CPU 0) is disposing of an MSI while another CPU (say CPU 1) is setting up an MSI. CPU 0 calls (for example) pnv_teardown_msi_irqs(), which calls msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() to indicate that the MSI (i.e. its hardware IRQ number) is no longer in use. Then, before CPU 0 gets to calling irq_dispose_mapping() to free up the virtal IRQ number, CPU 1 comes in and calls msi_bitmap_alloc_hwirqs() to allocate an MSI, and gets the same hardware IRQ number that CPU 0 just freed. CPU 1 then calls irq_create_mapping() to get a virtual IRQ number, which sees that there is currently a mapping for that hardware IRQ number and returns the corresponding virtual IRQ number (which is the same virtual IRQ number that CPU 0 was using). CPU 0 then calls irq_dispose_mapping() and frees that virtual IRQ number. Now, if another CPU comes along and calls irq_create_mapping(), it is likely to get the virtual IRQ number that was just freed, resulting in the same virtual IRQ number apparently being used for two different hardware interrupts. To fix this race, we just move the call to msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() to after the call to irq_dispose_mapping(). Since virq_to_hw() doesn't work for the virtual IRQ number after irq_dispose_mapping() has been called, we need to call it before irq_dispose_mapping() and remember the result for the msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() call. The pattern of calling msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() before irq_dispose_mapping() appears in 5 places under arch/powerpc, and appears to have originated in commit |

libnvdimm for 4.3:
1/ Introduce ZONE_DEVICE and devm_memremap_pages() as a generic mechanism for adding device-driver-discovered memory regions to the kernel's direct map. This facility is used by the pmem driver to enable pfn_to_page() operations on the page frames returned by DAX ('direct_access' in 'struct block_device_operations'). For now, the 'memmap' allocation for these "device" pages comes from "System RAM". Support for allocating the memmap from device memory will arrive in a later kernel. 2/ Introduce memremap() to replace usages of ioremap_cache() and ioremap_wt(). memremap() drops the __iomem annotation for these mappings to memory that do not have i/o side effects. The replacement of ioremap_cache() with memremap() is limited to the pmem driver to ease merging the api change in v4.3. Completion of the conversion is targeted for v4.4. 3/ Similar to the usage of memcpy_to_pmem() + wmb_pmem() in the pmem driver, update the VFS DAX implementation and PMEM api to provide persistence guarantees for kernel operations on a DAX mapping. 4/ Convert the ACPI NFIT 'BLK' driver to map the block apertures as cacheable to improve performance. 5/ Miscellaneous updates and fixes to libnvdimm including support for issuing "address range scrub" commands, clarifying the optimal 'sector size' of pmem devices, a clarification of the usage of the ACPI '_STA' (status) property for DIMM devices, and other minor fixes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJV6Nx7AAoJEB7SkWpmfYgCWyYQAI5ju6Gvw27RNFtPovHcZUf5 JGnxXejI6/AqeTQ+IulgprxtEUCrXOHjCDA5dkjr1qvsoqK1qxug+vJHOZLgeW0R OwDtmdW4Qrgeqm+CPoxETkorJ8wDOc8mol81kTiMgeV3UqbYeeHIiTAmwe7VzZ0C nNdCRDm5g8dHCjTKcvK3rvozgyoNoWeBiHkPe76EbnxDICxCB5dak7XsVKNMIVFQ NuYlnw6IYN7+rMHgpgpRux38NtIW8VlYPWTmHExejc2mlioWMNBG/bmtwLyJ6M3e zliz4/cnonTMUaizZaVozyinTa65m7wcnpjK+vlyGV2deDZPJpDRvSOtB0lH30bR 1gy+qrKzuGKpaN6thOISxFLLjmEeYwzYd7SvC9n118r32qShz+opN9XX0WmWSFlA sajE1ehm4M7s5pkMoa/dRnAyR8RUPu4RNINdQ/Z9jFfAOx+Q26rLdQXwf9+uqbEb bIeSQwOteK5vYYCstvpAcHSMlJAglzIX5UfZBvtEIJN7rlb0VhmGWfxAnTu+ktG1 o9cqAt+J4146xHaFwj5duTsyKhWb8BL9+xqbKPNpXEp+PbLsrnE/+WkDLFD67jxz dgIoK60mGnVXp+16I2uMqYYDgAyO5zUdmM4OygOMnZNa1mxesjbDJC6Wat1Wsndn slsw6DkrWT60CRE42nbK =o57/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm Pull libnvdimm updates from Dan Williams: "This update has successfully completed a 0day-kbuild run and has appeared in a linux-next release. genirq/irqdomain: Allow irq domain aliasing
It is not uncommon (at least with the ARM stuff) to have a piece of hardware that implements different flavours of "interrupts". A typical example of this is the GICv3 ITS, which implements standard PCI/MSI support, but also some form of "generic MSI". So far, the PCI/MSI domain is registered using the ITS device_node, so that irq_find_host can return it. On the contrary, the raw MSI domain is not registered with an device_node, making it impossible to be looked up by another subsystem (obviously, using the same device_node twice would only result in confusion, as it is not defined which one irq_find_host would return). A solution to this is to "type" domains that may be aliasing, and to be able to lookup an device_node that matches a given type. For this, we introduce irq_find_matching_host() as a superset of irq_find_host: struct irq_domain *irq_find_matching_host(struct device_node *node, enum irq_domain_bus_token bus_token); where bus_token is the "type" we want to match the domain against (so far, only DOMAIN_BUS_ANY is defined). This result in some moderately invasive changes on the PPC side (which is the only user of the .match method). This has otherwise no functionnal change. block: add a bi_error field to struct bio
Currently we have two different ways to signal an I/O error on a BIO: (1) by clearing the BIO_UPTODATE flag (2) by returning a Linux errno value to the bi_end_io callback The first one has the drawback of only communicating a single possible error (-EIO), and the second one has the drawback of not beeing persistent when bios are queued up, and are not passed along from child to parent bio in the ever more popular chaining scenario. Having both mechanisms available has the additional drawback of utterly confusing driver authors and introducing bugs where various I/O submitters only deal with one of them, and the others have to add boilerplate code to deal with both kinds of error returns. So add a new bi_error field to store an errno value directly in struct bio and remove the existing mechanisms to clean all this up. Merge tag 'module_init-alternate_initcall-v4.1-rc8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/paulg/linux
Pull module_init replacement part two from Paul Gortmaker:
"Replace module_init with appropriate alternate initcall in non
modules.
This series converts non-modular code that is using the module_init()
call to hook itself into the system to instead use one of our
alternate priority initcalls.
Unlike the previous series that used device_initcall and hence was a
runtime no-op, these commits change to one of the alternate initcalls,
because (a) we have them and (b) it seems like the right thing to do.
For example, it would seem logical to use arch_initcall for arch
specific setup code and fs_initcall for filesystem setup code.
This does mean however, that changes in the init ordering will be
taking place, and so there is a small risk that some kind of implicit
init ordering issue may lie uncovered. But I think it is still better
to give these ones sensible priorities than to just assign them all to
device_initcall in order to exactly preserve the old ordering.
Thad said, we have already made similar changes in core kernel code in
commit

powerpc: Make doorbell check preemption safe
Doorbell can be used to cause ipi on cpus which are sibling threads on the same core. So icp_native_cause_ipi checks if the destination cpu is a sibling thread of the current cpu and uses doorbell in such cases. But while running with CONFIG_PREEMPT=y, since this section is preemtible, we can run into issues if after we check if the destination cpu is a sibling cpu, the task gets migrated from a sibling cpu to a cpu on another core. powerpc: use subsys_initcall for Freescale Local Bus
The FSL_SOC option is bool, and hence this code is either present or absent. It will never be modular, so using module_init as an alias for __initcall is rather misleading. Fix this up now, so that we can relocate module_init from init.h into module.h in the future. If we don't do this, we'd have to add module.h to obviously non-modular code, and that would be a worse thing. Note that direct use of __initcall is discouraged, vs. one of the priority categorized subgroups. As __initcall gets mapped onto device_initcall, our use of subsys_initcall (which makes sense for bus code) will thus change this registration from level 6-device to level 4-subsys (i.e. slightly earlier). However no observable impact of that small difference has been observed during testing, or is expected. powerpc/iommu: Move tce_xxx callbacks from ppc_md to iommu_table
This adds a iommu_table_ops struct and puts pointer to it into the iommu_table struct. This moves tce_build/tce_free/tce_get/tce_flush callbacks from ppc_md to the new struct where they really belong to. This adds the requirement for @it_ops to be initialized before calling iommu_init_table() to make sure that we do not leave any IOMMU table with iommu_table_ops uninitialized. This is not a parameter of iommu_init_table() though as there will be cases when iommu_init_table() will not be called on TCE tables, for example - VFIO. This does s/tce_build/set/, s/tce_free/clear/ and removes "tce_" redundant prefixes. This removes tce_xxx_rm handlers from ppc_md but does not add them to iommu_table_ops as this will be done later if we decide to support TCE hypercalls in real mode. This removes _vm callbacks as only virtual mode is supported by now so this also removes @rm parameter. For pSeries, this always uses tce_buildmulti_pSeriesLP/ tce_buildmulti_pSeriesLP. This changes multi callback to fall back to tce_build_pSeriesLP/tce_free_pSeriesLP if FW_FEATURE_MULTITCE is not present. The reason for this is we still have to support "multitce=off" boot parameter in disable_multitce() and we do not want to walk through all IOMMU tables in the system and replace "multi" callbacks with single ones. For powernv, this defines _ops per PHB type which are P5IOC2/IODA1/IODA2. This makes the callbacks for them public. Later patches will extend callbacks for IODA1/2. No change in behaviour is expected. powerpc/ppc4xx_hsta_msi: Move MSI-related ops to pci_controller_ops
Move the ppc4xx hsta msi subsystem to use the pci_controller_ops structure rather than ppc_md for MSI related PCI controller operations. As with fsl_msi, operations are plugged in at the subsys level, after controller creation. Again, we iterate over all controllers and populate them with the MSI ops. powerpc/fsl_msi: Move MSI-related ops to pci_controller_ops
Move the fsl_msi subsystem to use the pci_controller_ops structure rather than ppc_md for MSI related PCI controller operations. Previously, MSI ops were added to ppc_md at the subsys level. However, in fsl_pci.c, PCI controllers are created at the at arch level. So, unlike in e.g. PowerNV/pSeries/Cell, we can't simply populate a platform-level controller ops structure and have it copied into the controllers when they are created. Instead, walk every phb, and attempt to populate it with the MSI ops. Signed-off-by: Daniel Axtens <dja@axtens.net> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> |

powerpc/pasemi: Only the build the pasemi MSI code for PASEMI=y
The pasemi MSI code is currently always built when MPIC=y && PCI_MSI=y. It should not have any effect on other platforms, because it immediately checks the MPIC's compatible property for "pasemi,pwrficient-openpic". However it's odd that it's still built even when PASEMI=n. It also needn't be in sysdev, as it's only used by pasemi. So move it into platforms/pasemi, whereby it will only be built for PASEMI=y. powerpc: dart_iommu: Remove check for controller_ops == NULL case
Now that we have ported the calls to iommu_init_early_dart to always supply a pci_controller_ops struct, we can safely drop the check. Signed-off-by: Daniel Axtens <dja@axtens.net> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> |
