Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller: "Highlights: 1) Support more Realtek wireless chips, from Jes Sorenson. 2) New BPF types for per-cpu hash and arrap maps, from Alexei Starovoitov. 3) Make several TCP sysctls per-namespace, from Nikolay Borisov. 4) Allow the use of SO_REUSEPORT in order to do per-thread processing of incoming TCP/UDP connections. The muxing can be done using a BPF program which hashes the incoming packet. From Craig Gallek. 5) Add a multiplexer for TCP streams, to provide a messaged based interface. BPF programs can be used to determine the message boundaries. From Tom Herbert. 6) Add 802.1AE MACSEC support, from Sabrina Dubroca. 7) Avoid factorial complexity when taking down an inetdev interface with lots of configured addresses. We were doing things like traversing the entire address less for each address removed, and flushing the entire netfilter conntrack table for every address as well. 8) Add and use SKB bulk free infrastructure, from Jesper Brouer. 9) Allow offloading u32 classifiers to hardware, and implement for ixgbe, from John Fastabend. 10) Allow configuring IRQ coalescing parameters on a per-queue basis, from Kan Liang. 11) Extend ethtool so that larger link mode masks can be supported. From David Decotigny. 12) Introduce devlink, which can be used to configure port link types (ethernet vs Infiniband, etc.), port splitting, and switch device level attributes as a whole. From Jiri Pirko. 13) Hardware offload support for flower classifiers, from Amir Vadai. 14) Add "Local Checksum Offload". Basically, for a tunneled packet the checksum of the outer header is 'constant' (because with the checksum field filled into the inner protocol header, the payload of the outer frame checksums to 'zero'), and we can take advantage of that in various ways. This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6:
Core changes: - The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in space outside of the device model. We now finally make GPIO chips devices. The gpio_chip will create a gpio_device which contains a struct device, and this gpio_device struct is kept private. Anything that needs to be kept private from the rest of the kernel will gradually be moved over to the gpio_device. - As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this. - Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step of a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool "lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all lines on these devices. We can now discover GPIOs properly from userspace. We still have not come up with a way to actually *use* GPIOs from userspace. - To encourage people to use the character device for the future, we have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is still opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as deprecated. We will keep it around for the foreseeable future, but it will not be extended to cover ever more use cases. Cleanup: - Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h> includes. This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and no shared library even existed: just a header file with proper prototypes was provided and all semantics were up to the arch to implement. These patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper device and cleans out leftovers of the old in-kernel API here and there. Still some cruft is left but it's very little now. - There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going on, but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers and the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin and unicore still drop in. - We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO implementations to use gpiochip_add_data() and cut down on code lines. - MPC8xxx is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. - ATH79 is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers. avr32: fix asm operand constraint in cmpxchg()
If the 'old' operand to cmpxchg() is a constant wider than 21 bits, linking fails with a "relocation truncated to fit: R_AVR32_21S" error. Fix this by replacing the "i" constraint with "Ks21" which makes the compiler use a temporary register for out of range constants. avr32: wire up copy_file_range syscall
This patch wires up the new copy_file_range syscall on AVR32. On AVR32, all parameters beyond the 5th are passed on the stack. System calls don't use the stack -- they borrow a callee-saved register instead. This means that syscalls that take 6 parameters must be called through a stub that pushes the last parameter on the stack. Signed-off-by: Hans-Christian Noren Egtvedt <egtvedt@samfundet.no> |

This patch updates all instances of csum_tcpudp_magic and csum_tcpudp_nofold to reflect the types that are usually used as the source inputs. For example the protocol field is populated based on nexthdr which is actually an unsigned 8 bit value. The length is usually populated based on skb->len which is an unsigned integer. This addresses an issue in which the IPv6 function csum_ipv6_magic was generating a checksum using the full 32b of skb->len while csum_tcpudp_magic was only using the lower 16 bits. As a result we could run into issues when attempting to adjust the checksum as there was no protocol agnostic way to update it. With this change the value is still truncated as many architectures use "(len + proto) << 8", however this truncation only occurs for values greater than 16776960 in length and as such is unlikely to occur as we stop the inner headers at ~64K in size. I did have to make a few minor changes in the arm, mn10300, nios2, and score versions of the function in order to support these changes as they were either using things such as an OR to combine the protocol and length, or were using ntohs to convert the length which would have truncated the value. I also updated a few spots in terms of whitespace and type differences for the addresses. Most of this was just to make sure all of the definitions were in sync going forward. PCI: Move pci_dma_* helpers to common code
For a long time all architectures implement the pci_dma_* functions using the generic DMA API, and they all use the same header to do so. Move this header, pci-dma-compat.h, to include/linux and include it from the generic pci.h instead of having each arch duplicate this include. net: Facility to report route quality of connected sockets
This patch add the SO_CNX_ADVICE socket option (setsockopt only). The purpose is to allow an application to give feedback to the kernel about the quality of the network path for a connected socket. The value argument indicates the type of quality report. For this initial patch the only supported advice is a value of 1 which indicates "bad path, please reroute"-- the action taken by the kernel is to call dst_negative_advice which will attempt to choose a different ECMP route, reset the TX hash for flow label and UDP source port in encapsulation, etc. This facility should be useful for connected UDP sockets where only the application can provide any feedback about path quality. It could also be useful for TCP applications that have additional knowledge about the path outside of the normal TCP control loop. gpio: Include linux/gpio.h instead of asm/gpio.h
Most arches have an asm/gpio.h that merely includes linux/gpio.h. The
others select ARCH_HAVE_CUSTOM_GPIO_H, and when that's selected,
linux/gpio.h includes asm/gpio.h.
Therefore, code should include linux/gpio.h instead of including asm/gpio.h
directly.
Remove includes of asm/gpio.h, adding an include of linux/gpio.h when
necessary.

arch: Set IORESOURCE_SYSTEM_RAM flag for System RAM
Set IORESOURCE_SYSTEM_RAM in flags of resource ranges with "System RAM", "Kernel code", "Kernel data", and "Kernel bss". Note that: - IORESOURCE_SYSRAM (i.e. modifier bit) is set in flags when IORESOURCE_MEM is already set. GPIO bulk updates for the v4.5 kernel cycle:
Infrastructural changes: - In struct gpio_chip, rename the .dev node to .parent to better reflect the fact that this is not the GPIO struct device abstraction. We will add that soon so this would be totallt confusing. - It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was sometimes reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting them to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value() calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than zero" to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit 31 set to indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error codes. This is fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all drivers with !!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to propagate error codes to consumers. (Includes some ACKed patches in other subsystems.) - Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of() design pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the struct gpio_chip to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep states internal to the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state when adding a proper userspace ABI (character device) further down the road. To achieve this, drivers need a handle at the internal state that is not dependent on their struct gpio_chip() so we add gpiochip_add_data() and gpiochip_get_data() following the pattern of many other subsystems. All the "use gpiochip data pointer" patches transforms drivers to this scheme. - The Generic GPIO chip header has been merged into the general <linux/gpio/driver.h> header, and the custom header for that removed. Instead of having a separate mm_gpio_chip struct for these generic drivers, merge that into struct gpio_chip, simplifying the code and removing the need for separate and confusing includes. Misc improvements: - Stabilize the way GPIOs are looked up from the ACPI legacy specification. - Incremental driver features for PXA, PCA953X, Lantiq (patches from the OpenWRT community), RCAR, Zynq, PL061, 104-idi-48 New drivers: - Add a GPIO chip to the ALSA SoC AC97 driver. - Add a new Broadcom NSP SoC driver (this lands in the pinctrl dir, but the branch is merged here too to account for infrastructural changes). - The sx150x driver now supports the sx1502. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJWmsZhAAoJEEEQszewGV1ztq0QAJ1KbNOpmf/s3INkOH4r771Z WIrNEsmwwLIAryo8gKNOM0H1zCwhRUV7hIE5jYWgD6JvjuAN6vobMlZAq21j6YpB pKgqnI5DuoND450xjb8wSwGQ5NTYp1rFXNmwCrtyTjOle6AAW+Kp2cvVWxVr77Av uJinRuuBr9GOKW/yYM1Fw/6EPjkvvhVOb+LBguRyVvq0s5Peyw7ZVeY1tjgPHJLn oSZ9dmPUjHEn91oZQbtfro3plOObcxdgJ8vo//pgEmyhMeR8XjXES+aUfErxqWOU PimrZuMMy4cxnsqWwh3Dyxo7KSWfJKfSPRwnGwc/HgbHZEoWxOZI1ezRtGKrRQtj vubxp5dUBA5z66TMsOCeJtzKVSofkvgX2Wr/Y9jKp5oy9cHdAZv9+jEHV1pr6asz Tas97MmmO77XuRI/GPDqVHx8dfa15OIz9s92+Gu64KxNzVxTo4+NdoPSNxkbCILO FKn7EmU3D0OjmN2NJ9GAURoFaj3BBUgNhaxacG9j2bieyh+euuUHRtyh2k8zXR9y 8OnY1UOrTUYF8YIq9pXZxMQRD/lqwCNHvEjtI6BqMcNx4MptfTL+FKYUkn/SgCYk QTNV6Ui+ety5D5aEpp5q0ItGsrDJ2LYSItsS+cOtMy2ieOxbQav9NWwu7eI3l5ly gwYTZjG9p9joPXLW0E3g =63rR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'gpio-v4.5-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "Here is the bulk of GPIO changes for v4.5. So I've been restructuring stuff. On the way I ran into brokenness (return code from the get_value() callback) and had to fix it. Also, refactored generic GPIO to be simpler. Some of that is still waiting to trickle down from the subsystems all over the kernel that provide random gpio_chips, I've touched every single GPIO driver in the kernel now, oh man I didn't know I was responsible for so much... Apart from that we're churning along as usual. I took some effort to test and retest so it should merge nicely and we shook out a couple of bugs in -next. gpio: change member .dev to .parent
The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct. struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices, this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent. This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like this: @@ struct gpio_chip *var; @@ -var->dev +var->parent and: @@ struct gpio_chip var; @@ -var.dev +var.parent and: @@ struct bgpio_chip *var; @@ -var->gc.dev +var->gc.parent Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how to teach Coccinelle to rewrite. This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway. Merge branch 'locking-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull locking changes from Ingo Molnar: "The main changes in this cycle were: - More gradual enhancements to atomic ops: new atomic*_read_ctrl() ops, synchronize atomic_{read,set}() ordering requirements between architectures, add atomic_long_t bitops. (Peter Zijlstra) - Add _{relaxed|acquire|release}() variants for inc/dec atomics and use them in various locking primitives: mutex, rtmutex, mcs, rwsem. This enables weakly ordered architectures (such as arm64) to make use of more locking related optimizations. (Davidlohr Bueso) - Implement atomic[64]_{inc,dec}_relaxed() on ARM. (Will Deacon) - Futex kernel data cache footprint micro-optimization. (Rasmus Villemoes) - pvqspinlock runtime overhead micro-optimization. Merge branch 'strscpy' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile
Pull strscpy string copy function implementation from Chris Metcalf. Chris sent this during the merge window, but I waffled back and forth on the pull request, which is why it's going in only now. The new "strscpy()" function is definitely easier to use and more secure than either strncpy() or strlcpy(), both of which are horrible nasty interfaces that have serious and irredeemable problems. strncpy() has a useless return value, and doesn't NUL-terminate an overlong result. To make matters worse, it pads a short result with zeroes, which is a performance disaster if you have big buffers. strlcpy(), by contrast, is a mis-designed "fix" for strlcpy(), lacking the insane NUL padding, but having a differently broken return value which returns the original length of the source string. Which means that it will read characters past the count from the source buffer, and you have to trust the source to be properly terminated. It also makes error handling fragile, since the test for overflow is unnecessarily subtle. strscpy() avoids both these problems, guaranteeing the NUL termination (but not excessive padding) if the destination size wasn't zero, and making the overflow condition very obvious by returning -E2BIG. It also doesn't read past the size of the source, and can thus be used for untrusted source data too. So why did I waffle about this for so long? Every time we introduce a new-and-improved interface, people start doing these interminable series of trivial conversion patches. And every time that happens, somebody does some silly mistake, and the conversion patch to the improved interface actually makes things worse. Because the patch is mindnumbing and trivial, nobody has the attention span to look at it carefully, and it's usually done over large swatches of source code which means that not every conversion gets tested. So I'm pulling the strscpy() support because it *is* a better interface. But I will refuse to pull mindless conversion patches. Use this in places where it makes sense, but don't do trivial patches to fix things that aren't actually known to be broken. * 'strscpy' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile: tile: use global strscpy() rather than private copy string: provide strscpy() Make asm/word-at-a-time.h available on all architectures |

atomic, arch: Audit atomic_{read,set}()
This patch makes sure that atomic_{read,set}() are at least {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(). We already had the 'requirement' that atomic_read() should use ACCESS_ONCE(), and most archs had this, but a few were lacking. All are now converted to use READ_ONCE(). arch/*/io.h: Add ioremap_uc() to all architectures
This adds ioremap_uc() only for architectures that do not include asm-generic.h/io.h as that already provides a default definition for them for both cases where you have CONFIG_MMU and you do not, and because of this, the number of architectures this patch address is less than the architectures that the ioremap_wt() patch addressed, "arch/*/io.h: Add ioremap_wt() to all architectures"). In order to reduce the number of architectures we have to modify by adding new architecture IO APIs we'll have to review the architectures in this patch, see why they can't add asm-generic.h/io.h or issues that would be created by doing so and then spread a consistent inclusion of this header towards the end of their own header. For instance arch/metag includes the asm-generic/io.h *before* the ioremap*() definitions, this should be the other way around but only once we have guard wrappers for the non-MMU case also for asm-generic/io.h.
