ARM: tegra: enforce PM requirement
Currently runtime PM is enabled for Tegra HDA driver. One of the concern raised was about handling !PM case in HDA driver. In this case, there is a need to manage clocks and power explicitly in the driver and reviewers were not really convinced about this. The consensus at the end was to enforce PM requirement to keep things simple, rather driver mentioning a dependency on PM. This is how it is done for ARM 64-bit Tegra platforms and the same can be done for 32-bit Tegra platforms too. Finally the objective is to remove dependency on PM availability for all Tegra drivers. arch: define the ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT config symbol in lib/Kconfig
Define this symbol if the architecture either uses 64-bit pointers or the PHYS_ADDR_T_64BIT is set. This covers 95% of the old arch magic. We only need an additional select for Xen on ARM (why anyway?), and we now always set ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT on mips boards with 64-bit physical addressing instead of only doing it when highmem is set. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. ARM: tegra: Select appropriate DMA options for LPAE
This automatically selects options for zone DMA and 64 bit DMA addresses when LPAE is enabled on ARM Tegra platforms. These options are required for proper operation with LPAE enabled. The ZONE_DMA option is required to ensure that drivers that allocate DMA memory get buffers from the first 4 GiB. This is necessary because a lot of the controllers only support addressing 32 bits. As for ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT, there are situations where devices that do support addresses of more than 32 bits (such as the display controller or the GPU) can run without translating addresses through an IOMMU on a device with more than 4 GiB of system memory. Note that both of these options are stop-gap solutions required only until the IOMMU can be properly integrated with the DMA mapping API and drivers use that properly and consistently. ARM: do away with ARCH_[WANT_OPTIONAL|REQUIRE]_GPIOLIB
This replaces: - "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB" as this can now be selected directly. - "select ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB" with no dependency: GPIOLIB is now selectable by everyone, so we need not declare our intent to select it. When ordering the symbols the following rationale was used: if the selects were in alphabetical order, I moved select GPIOLIB to be in alphabetical order, but if the selects were not maintained in alphabetical order, I just replaced "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB". ARM: use "depends on" for SoC configs instead of "if" after prompt
Many ARM sub-architectures use prompts followed by "if" conditional, but it is wrong. Please notice the difference between config ARCH_FOO bool "Foo SoCs" if ARCH_MULTI_V7 and config ARCH_FOO bool "Foo SoCs" depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7 These two are *not* equivalent! In the former statement, it is not ARCH_FOO, but its prompt that depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7. So, it is completely valid that ARCH_FOO is selected by another, but ARCH_MULTI_V7 is still disabled. As it is not unmet dependency, Kconfig never warns. This is probably not what you want. The former should be used only when you need to do so, and you really understand what you are doing. (In most cases, it should be wrong!) For enabling/disabling sub-architectures, the latter is always correct. As a good side effect, this commit fixes some entries over 80 columns (mach-imx, mach-integrator, mach-mbevu). ARM: tegra: select USB_ULPI from EHCI rather than platform
For historic reasons, the tegra platform selects USB_ULPI from architecture code, but that hasn't really made sense for a long time, as the only user of that code is the Tegra EHCI driver that has its own Kconfig symbol. This removes the 'select' statements from mach-tegra and drivers/soc/tegra and adds them with the device driver that actually needs them. Move per-SoC generation Kconfig symbols to drivers/soc/tegra/Kconfig to gather them all in a single place. This directory is a natural location for these options since it already contains the drivers that are shared across 32-bit and 64-bit ARM architectures. clk: tegra: Add functions for parsing CVB tables
Tegra CVB tables encode the relationship between operating voltage and optimal frequency as a function of the so-called speedo value. The speedo value is written to the on-chip fuses at the factory, which allows the voltage-frequency operating points to be calculated on an per-chip basis. Add utility functions to parse the Tegra-specific tables and export the voltage-frequency pairs to the generic OPP framework for other drivers to use. clocksource: Build Tegra timer on 32-bit ARM only
Instead of directly using the ARCH_TEGRA Kconfig symbol to enable this driver, add a new, non-user-visible Kconfig symbol (TEGRA_TIMER) which can be selected by the various SoCs. This is useful to disable building the driver on Tegra132 (64-bit ARM) where it doesn't currently compile but also isn't needed (yet). ARM: Remove ARCH_HAS_CPUFREQ config option
This config exists entirely to hide the cpufreq menu from the kernel configuration unless a platform has selected it. Nothing is actually built if this config is 'Y' and it just leads to more patches that add a select under a platform Kconfig so that some other CPUfreq option can be chosen. Let's remove the option so that we can always enable CPUfreq drivers on ARM platforms. ARM: kconfig: allow PCI support to be selected with ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM
When targetting ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, we may include support for SoCs with PCI-capable devices (e.g. mach-virt with virtio-pci). This patch allows PCI support to be selected for these SoCs by selecting CONFIG_MIGHT_HAVE_PCI when CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM=y and removes the individual selections from multi-platform enabled SoCs. These cleanup patches are mainly move stuff around and should all be harmless. They are mainly split out so that other branches can be based on top to avoid conflicts. Notable changes are: * We finally remove all mach/timex.h, after CLOCK_TICK_RATE is no longer used. (Uwe Kleine-König) * The Qualcomm MSM platform is split out into legacy mach-msm and new-style mach-qcom, to allow easier maintainance of the new hardware support without regressions. Updates of SoC-near drivers and other driver updates that makes more sense to take through our tree. The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for some renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has required coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and we've agreed to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree. Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure firmware, which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra products that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The other notable thing is I'm expecting some build breakage in the crypto stuff on ARM only with Ard's AES patches. These were merged into a stable git branch which others had already pulled, so there's little I can do about this. The problem is caused because these patches have a dependency on some code in the crypto git tree - I tried requesting a branch I can pull to resolve these, and all I got each time from the crypto people was "we'll revert our patches then" which would only make things worse since I still don't have the dependent patches. I've no idea what's going on there or how to resolve that, and since I can't split these patches from the rest of this pull request, I'm rather stuck with pushing this as-is or reverting Ard's patches. Since it should "come out in the wash" I've left them in - the only build problems they seem to cause at the moment are with randconfigs, and since it's a new feature anyway. However, if by -rc1 the dependencies aren't in, I think it'd be best to revert Ard's patches" I resolved the perf conflict roughly as per the patch sent by Russell, but there may be some differences. Any errors are likely mine. CLKDEV_LOOKUP selects HAVE_CLK and COMMON_CLK selects CLKDEV_LOOKUP. So all symbols that select at least two of these symbols can be simplified. The ARCH_SUPPORTS_MSI symbol was removed during the recent patches that introduce the MSI chip infrastructure. Drop it from the list of selected symbols. PCI: tegra: Move PCIe driver to drivers/pci/host
Move the PCIe driver from arch/arm/mach-tegra into the drivers/pci/host directory. The motivation is to collect various host controller drivers in the same location in order to facilitate refactoring. The Tegra PCIe driver has been largely rewritten, both in order to turn it into a proper platform driver and to add MSI (based on code by Krishna Kishore <kthota@nvidia.com>) as well as device tree support. ARM: tegra: unify Tegra's Kconfig a bit more
Move all common select clauses from ARCH_TEGRA_*_SOC to ARCH_TEGRA to eliminate duplication. The USB-related selects all should have been common too, but were missing from Tegra114 previously. Now that we have a generic arch hook for broadcast we can remove the local
timer API entirely. cpufreq: tegra: create CONFIG_ARM_TEGRA_CPUFREQ
currently Tegra cpufreq driver gets built based on ARCH_TEGRA, which doesn't depend on nor select CPU_FREQ itself, so: select CPU_FREQ_TABLE if CPU_FREQ ... isn't guaranteed to fire. The correct solution seems to be: * Add CONFIG_ARM_TEGRA_CPUFREQ to drivers/cpufreq/Kconfig.arm. * Make that Kconfig option selct CPU_FREQ_TABLE. * Make that Kconfig option be def_bool ARCH_TEGRA. * Modify drivers/cpufreq/Makefile to build tegra-cpufreq.c based on that. * Remove all the cpufreq-related stuff from arch/arm/mach-tegra/Kconfig. That way, tegra-cpufreq.c can't be built if !CPU_FREQ, and Tegra's cpufreq works the same way as all the other cpufreq drivers. This patch does it. arm: fix up ARM_ARCH_TIMER selects
In 8a4da6e: "arm: arch_timer: move core to drivers/clocksource", the selection of ARM_ARCH_TIMER was indirected via HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER, though mach-exynos's selection of ARM_ARCH_TIMER was missed, and since then mach-shmobile, mach-tegra, and mach-virt have begun selecting ARM_ARCH_TIMER. This can lead to architected timer support erroneously appearing to not be selected in menuconfig. This patch fixes up the Kconfigs for those platforms to select HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER. ARM: Push selects for TWD/SCU into machine entries
The TWD and SCU configs are selected by default as long as MSM_SCORPIONMP is false and/or MCT is false. Implementing the logic this way certainly saves lines in the Kconfig but it precludes those machines which select MSM_SCORPIONMP or MCT from participating in the single zImage effort because when those machines are combined with other SMP capable machines the TWD and SCU are no longer selected by default. Push the select out to the machine entries so that we can compile these machines together and still select the appropriate configs.
