Kernel source files need not include <linux/kconfig.h> explicitly
because the top Makefile forces to include it with:
-include $(srctree)/include/linux/kconfig.h
This commit removes explicit includes except the following:
* arch/s390/include/asm/facilities_src.h
* tools/testing/radix-tree/linux/kernel.h
These two are used for host programs.

All call sites for randomize_range have been updated to use the much
simpler and more robust randomize_addr(). Remove the now unnecessary
code.

To date, all callers of randomize_range() have set the length to 0, and
check for a zero return value. For the current callers, the only way to
get zero returned is if end <= start. Since they are all adding a
constant to the start address, this is unnecessary.
We can remove a bunch of needless checks by simplifying the API to do just
what everyone wants, return an address between [start, start + range).
While we're here, s/get_random_int/get_random_long/. No current call site
is adversely affected by get_random_int(), since all current range
requests are < UINT_MAX. However, we should match caller expectations to
avoid coming up short (ha!) in the future.
All current callers to randomize_range() chose to use the start address if
randomize_range() failed. Therefore, we simplify things by just returning
the start address on error.
randomize_range() will be removed once all callers have been converted
over to randomize_addr().

The __latent_entropy gcc attribute can be used only on functions and
variables. If it is on a function then the plugin will instrument it for
gathering control-flow entropy. If the attribute is on a variable then
the plugin will initialize it with random contents. The variable must
be an integer, an integer array type or a structure with integer fields.
These specific functions have been selected because they are init
functions (to help gather boot-time entropy), are called at unpredictable
times, or they have variable loops, each of which provide some level of
latent entropy.

This patch adds a simple device driver to expose the iBT interface on
Aspeed SOCs (AST2400 and AST2500) as a character device. Such SOCs are
commonly used as BMCs (BaseBoard Management Controllers) and this
driver implements the BMC side of the BT interface.
The BT (Block Transfer) interface is used to perform in-band IPMI
communication between a host and its BMC. Entire messages are buffered
before sending a notification to the other end, host or BMC, that
there is data to be read. Usually, the host emits requests and the BMC
responses but the specification provides a mean for the BMC to send
SMS Attention (BMC-to-Host attention or System Management Software
attention) messages.
For this purpose, the driver introduces a specific ioctl on the
device: 'BT_BMC_IOCTL_SMS_ATN' that can be used by the system running
on the BMC to signal the host of such an event.
The device name defaults to '/dev/ipmi-bt-host'

current_fs_time() uses struct super_block* as an argument.
As per Linus's suggestion, this is changed to take struct
inode* as a parameter instead. This is because the function
is primarily meant for vfs inode timestamps.
Also the function was renamed as per Arnd's suggestion.
Change all calls to current_fs_time() to use the new
current_time() function instead. current_fs_time() will be

Currently omap-rng checks the return value of pm_runtime_get_sync and
reports failure if anything is returned, however it should be checking
if ret < 0 as pm_runtime_get_sync return 0 on success but also can return

Utilize runtime_pm for driving tpm crb idle states.
The framework calls cmd_ready from the pm_runtime_resume handler
and go idle from the pm_runtime_suspend handler.
The TPM framework should wake the device before transmit and receive.
In case the runtime_pm framework is not enabled, the device will be in
ready state.

There is a HW bug in Skylake, and Broxton PCH Intel PTT device, where
most of the registers in the control area except START, REQUEST, CANCEL,

The register TPM_CRB_CTRL_REQ_x contains bits goIdle and cmdReady for
SW to indicate that the device can enter or should exit the idle state.
The legacy ACPI-start (SMI + DMA) based devices do not support these

The TPM_CRB_CTRL_CANCEL register was cleared already in the crb_cancel

* Cancel might not happen.
* req_canceled() always returns zero.
A better place to clear the register is when starting to send a new

Arriving at read_kmem() with an offset representing a bogus kernel
address (e.g. 0 from a simple "cat /dev/kmem") leads to copy_to_user
faulting on the kernel-side read.
x86_64 happens to get away with this since the optimised implementation
uses "rep movs*", thus the user write (which is allowed to fault) and
the kernel read are the same instruction, the kernel-side fault falls
into the user-side fixup handler and the chain of events which
transpires ends up returning an error as one might expect, even if it's
an inappropriate -EFAULT. On other architectures, though, the read is
not covered by the fixup entry for the write, and we get a big scary
"Unable to hande kernel paging request..." dump.
The more typical use-case of mmap_kmem() has always (within living
memory at least) returned -EIO for addresses which don't satisfy
pfn_valid(), so let's make that consistent across {read,write}_kem()
too.

We can directly depend on SOC_IMX31 since commit c9ee94965d
("ARM: imx: deconstruct mxc_rnga initialization")
Since that commit, CONFIG_HW_RANDOM_MXC_RNGA could not be switched on
with unknown symbol ARCH_HAS_RNGA and mxc-rnga.o can't be generated with
ARCH=arm make M=drivers/char/hw_random
Previously, HW_RANDOM_MXC_RNGA required ARCH_HAS_RNGA
which was based on IMX_HAVE_PLATFORM_MXC_RNGA && ARCH_MXC.
IMX_HAVE_PLATFORM_MXC_RNGA was based on SOC_IMX31.

After we update one PTE for a page, the caller expects to be able to
immediately use that through a GGTT read/write. To comply with the
callers expectations we therefore need to flush the chipset buffers
before returning.

On a system with sparse node ids, eg. a powerpc system with 4 nodes
numbered like so:
node 0: [mem 0x0000000000000000-0x00000007ffffffff]
node 1: [mem 0x0000000800000000-0x0000000fffffffff]
node 16: [mem 0x0000001000000000-0x00000017ffffffff]
node 17: [mem 0x0000001800000000-0x0000001fffffffff]
The code in rand_initialize() will allocate 4 pointers for the pool
array, and initialise them correctly.
However when go to use the pool, in eg. extract_crng(), we use the
numa_node_id() to index into the array. For the higher numbered node ids
this leads to random memory corruption, depending on what was kmalloc'ed
adjacent to the pool array.
Fix it by using nr_node_ids to size the pool array.

Parameter trydefaults=1 causes the ipmi_init to initialize ipmi through
the legacy port io space that was designated for ipmi. Architectures
that do not map legacy port io can panic when trydefaults=1.
Rather than implement build-time conditional exceptions for each
architecture that does not map legacy port io, we have removed legacy
port io from the driver.
Parameter 'trydefaults' has been removed. Attempts to use it hereafter
will evoke the "Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter" message.
The patch was built against a number of architectures and tested for
regressions and functionality on x86_64 and ARM64.

Provide a shmem_get_unmapped_area method in file_operations, called at
mmap time to decide the mapping address. It could be conditional on
CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE, but save #ifdefs in other places by making
it unconditional.
shmem_get_unmapped_area() first calls the usual mm->get_unmapped_area
(which we treat as a black box, highly dependent on architecture and
config and executable layout). Lots of conditions, and in most cases it
just goes with the address that chose; but when our huge stars are
rightly aligned, yet that did not provide a suitable address, go back to
ask for a larger arena, within which to align the mapping suitably.
There have to be some direct calls to shmem_get_unmapped_area(), not via
the file_operations: because of the way shmem_zero_setup() is called to
create a shmem object late in the mmap sequence, when MAP_SHARED is
requested with MAP_ANONYMOUS or /dev/zero. Though this only matters
when /proc/sys/vm/shmem_huge has been set.

The TCG standard startup sequence (get timeouts, tpm startup, etc) for
TPM and TPM2 chips is being open coded in many drivers, move it into
the core code.
tpm_tis and tpm_crb are used as the basis for the core code
implementation and the easy drivers are converted. In the process
several small drivers bugs relating to error handling this flow
are fixed.
For now the flag TPM_OPS_AUTO_STARTUP is optional to allow a staged
driver roll out, but ultimately all drivers should use this flow and
the flag removed. Some drivers still do not implement the startup
sequence at all and will need to be tested with it enabled.

Implement new character device driver to allow access from user space
to the operator panel display present on IBM Power Systems machines
with FSPs.
This will allow status information to be presented on the display which
is visible to a user.
The driver implements a character buffer which a user can read/write
by accessing the device (/dev/op_panel). This buffer is then displayed on
the operator panel display. Any attempt to write past the last character
position will have no effect and attempts to write more characters than
the size of the display will be truncated. The device may only be accessed
by a single process at a time.

This splits tpm_tis in a high-level protocol part and a low-level interface
for the actual TPM communication. The low-level interface can then be
implemented by additional drivers to provide access to TPMs using other
mechanisms, for example native I2C or SPI transfers, while still reusing
the same TIS protocol implementation.
Though the ioread/iowrite calls cannot fail, other implementations of this
interface might want to return error codes if their communication fails.
This follows the usual pattern of negative values representing errors and
zero representing success. Positive values are not used (yet).
Errors are passed back to the caller if possible. If the interface of a
function does not allow that, it tries to do the most sensible thing it
can, but this might also mean ignoring the error in this instance.

This patch implements a proxy driver for supporting multiple emulated TPMs
in a system.
The driver implements a device /dev/vtpmx that is used to created
a client device pair /dev/tpmX (e.g., /dev/tpm10) and a server side that
is accessed using a file descriptor returned by an ioctl.
The device /dev/tpmX is the usual TPM device created by the core TPM
driver. Applications or kernel subsystems can send TPM commands to it
and the corresponding server-side file descriptor receives these
commands and delivers them to an emulated TPM.
The driver retrievs the TPM 1.2 durations and timeouts. Since this requires
the startup of the TPM, we send a startup for TPM 1.2 as well as TPM 2.

it in the private struct priv_data that tpm_tis uses because the field
is only used tpm_tis.

Introduced a private struct tpm_atmel_priv that contains the variables
have_region and region_size that were previously located in struct
tpm_vendor_specific. These fields were only used by tpm_atmel.

Drop field int_queue from tpm_vendor_specific as it is used only by
tpm_tis. Probably all of the fields should be eventually dropped and
moved to the private structures of different drivers but it is better to
do this one step at a time in order not to break anything.

On my Lenovo x250 the following situation occurs:
[18697.813871] tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource
[mem 0xacdff080-0xacdfffff]
The mapping of the control area overlaps the mapping of the command
buffer. The control area is mapped over page, which is not right. It
should mapped over sizeof(struct crb_control_area).
Fixing this issue unmasks another issue. Command and response buffers
can overlap and they do interleave on this machine. According to the PTP
specification the overlapping means that they are mapped to the same
buffer.
The commit has been also on a Haswell NUC where things worked before
applying this fix so that the both code paths for response buffer
initialization are tested.

When st33zp24_spi_acpi_request_resources() gets called we
already know that the entries in ->acpi_match_table have matched ACPI ID
of the device.
In addition spi_device pointer cannot be NULL in any case (otherwise I2C
core would not call ->probe() for the driver in the first place).
Drop the two useless checks from the driver.
