Richard Cochran b6fd7b9636 net: Introduce peer to peer one step PTP time stamping.
The 1588 standard defines one step operation for both Sync and
PDelay_Resp messages. Up until now, hardware with P2P one step has
been rare, and kernel support was lacking. This patch adds support of

Manish Chopra 7113f796bb bnx2x: Do not handle requests from VFs after parity
Parity error from the hardware will cause PF to lose the state
of their VFs due to PF's internal reload and hardware reset following
the parity error. Restrict any configuration request from the VFs after
the parity as it could cause unexpected hardware behavior, only way
for VFs to recover would be to trigger FLR on VFs and reload them.

Manish Chopra 4a4d2d372f bnx2x: Fix VF's VLAN reconfiguration in reload.
Commit 04f05230c5 ("bnx2x: Remove configured vlans as
part of unload sequence."), introduced a regression in driver
that as a part of VF's reload flow, VLANs created on the VF
doesn't get re-configured in hardware as vlan metadata/info
was not getting cleared for the VFs which causes vlan PING to stop.

This patch clears the vlan metadata/info so that VLANs gets
re-configured back in the hardware in VF's reload flow and
PING/traffic continues for VLANs created over the VFs.

Guilherme G. Piccoli 3c91f25c2f bnx2x: Prevent ptp_task to be rescheduled indefinitely
Currently bnx2x ptp worker tries to read a register with timestamp
information in case of TX packet timestamping and in case it fails,
the routine reschedules itself indefinitely. This was reported as a
kworker always at 100% of CPU usage, which was narrowed down to be
bnx2x ptp_task.

By following the ioctl handler, we could narrow down the problem to
an NTP tool (chrony) requesting HW timestamping from bnx2x NIC with
RX filter zeroed; this isn't reproducible for example with ptp4l
(from linuxptp) since this tool requests a supported RX filter.
It seems NIC FW timestamp mechanism cannot work well with
RX_FILTER_NONE - driver's PTP filter init routine skips a register
write to the adapter if there's not a supported filter request.

This patch addresses the problem of bnx2x ptp thread's everlasting
reschedule by retrying the register read 10 times; between the read
attempts the thread sleeps for an increasing amount of time starting
in 1ms to give FW some time to perform the timestamping. If it still
fails after all retries, we bail out in order to prevent an unbound
resource consumption from bnx2x.

The patch also adds an ethtool statistic for accounting the skipped
TX timestamp packets and it reduces the priority of timestamping
error messages to prevent log flooding. The code was tested using
both linuxptp and chrony.

Will Deacon fb24ea52f7 drivers: Remove explicit invocations of mmiowb()
mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require
it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was
generated using coccinelle:

	@mmiowb@
	@@
	- mmiowb();

and invoked as:

$ for d in drivers include/linux/qed sound; do \
spatch --include-headers --sp-file mmiowb.cocci --dir $d --in-place; done

NOTE: mmiowb() has only ever guaranteed ordering in conjunction with
spin_unlock(). However, pairing each mmiowb() removal in this patch with
the corresponding call to spin_unlock() is not at all trivial, so there
is a small chance that this change may regress any drivers incorrectly
relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free
synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can
reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore
the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64
systems.

After some investigation I figured out that recently added cleanup code
tries to call VLAN filtering de-initialization function which exist only
for newer hardware. Corresponding function pointer is not
set (== 0) for older hardware, namely these chips:

	#define CHIP_NUM_57710			0x164e
	#define CHIP_NUM_57711			0x164f
	#define CHIP_NUM_57711E			0x1650

And I have one of those in my test system:

	Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries NetXtreme II BCM57711E 10-Gigabit PCIe [14e4:1650]

Function bnx2x_init_vlan_mac_fp_objs() from
drivers/net/ethernet/broadcom/bnx2x/bnx2x_cmn.h decides whether to
initialize relevant pointers in bnx2x_sp_objs.vlan_obj or not.

This regression was introduced after v4.20-rc7, and still exists in v4.20
release.

After bfcb79fca1 ("PCI/ERR: Run error recovery callbacks for all affected

Eric Dumazet d8ea6a91ad bnx2x: remove ndo_poll_controller
As diagnosed by Song Liu, ndo_poll_controller() can
be very dangerous on loaded hosts, since the cpu
calling ndo_poll_controller() might steal all NAPI
contexts (for all RX/TX queues of the NIC). This capture
can last for unlimited amount of time, since one
cpu is generally not able to drain all the queues under load.

bnx2x uses NAPI for TX completions, so we better let core
networking stack call the napi->poll() to avoid the capture.

Sudarsana Reddy Kalluru 484c016d93 bnx2x: Fix receiving tx-timeout in error or recovery state.
Driver performs the internal reload when it receives tx-timeout event from
the OS. Internal reload might fail in some scenarios e.g., fatal HW issues.
In such cases OS still see the link, which would result in undesirable
functionalities such as re-generation of tx-timeouts.
The patch addresses this issue by indicating the link-down to OS when
tx-timeout is detected, and keeping the link in down state till the
internal reload is successful.

Please consider applying it to 'net' branch.

Bjorn Helgaas cc04a1dd3f bnx2x: Report PCIe link properties with pcie_print_link_status()
Previously the driver used pcie_get_minimum_link() to warn when the NIC
is in a slot that can't supply as much bandwidth as the NIC could use.

pcie_get_minimum_link() can be misleading because it finds the slowest link
and the narrowest link (which may be different links) without considering
the total bandwidth of each link. For a path with a 16 GT/s x1 link and a
2.5 GT/s x16 link, it returns 2.5 GT/s x1, which corresponds to 250 MB/s of
bandwidth, not the true available bandwidth of about 1969 MB/s for a
16 GT/s x1 link.

Use pcie_print_link_status() to report PCIe link speed and possible
limitations instead of implementing this in the driver itself. This finds
the slowest link in the path to the device by computing the total bandwidth
of each link and compares that with the capabilities of the device.

The dmesg change is:

  - %s (%c%d) PCI-E x%d %s found at mem %lx, IRQ %d, node addr %pM
  + %s (%c%d) PCI-E found at mem %lx, IRQ %d, node addr %pM
  + %u.%03u Gb/s available PCIe bandwidth (%s x%d link)

Guilherme G. Piccoli f7084059a9 bnx2x: Improve reliability in case of nested PCI errors
While in recovery process of PCI error (called EEH on PowerPC arch),
another PCI transaction could be corrupted causing a situation of
nested PCI errors. Also, this scenario could be reproduced with
error injection mechanisms (for debug purposes).

We observe that in case of nested PCI errors, bnx2x might attempt to
initialize its shmem and cause a kernel crash due to bad addresses
read from MCP. Multiple different stack traces were observed depending
on the point the second PCI error happens.

This patch avoids the crashes by:

 * failing PCI recovery in case of nested errors (since multiple
 PCI errors in a row are not expected to lead to a functional
 adapter anyway), and by,

 * preventing access to adapter FW when MCP is failed (we mark it as
 failed when shmem cannot get initialized properly).

Kees Cook e99e88a9d2 treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.

Casting from unsigned long:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);

and forced object casts:

    void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);

become:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

Direct function assignments:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;

have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;

And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:

spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
	-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
	-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \

Zhu Yanjun 442866ff97 bnx2x: fix slowpath null crash
When "NETDEV WATCHDOG: em4 (bnx2x): transmit queue 2 timed out" occurs,
BNX2X_SP_RTNL_TX_TIMEOUT is set. In the function bnx2x_sp_rtnl_task,
bnx2x_nic_unload and bnx2x_nic_load are executed to shutdown and open
NIC. In the function bnx2x_nic_load, bnx2x_alloc_mem allocates dma
failure. The message "bnx2x: [bnx2x_alloc_mem:8399(em4)]Can't
allocate memory" pops out. The variable slowpath is set to NULL.
When shutdown the NIC, the function bnx2x_nic_unload is called. In
the function bnx2x_nic_unload, the following functions are executed.
bnx2x_chip_cleanup
    bnx2x_set_storm_rx_mode
        bnx2x_set_q_rx_mode
            bnx2x_set_q_rx_mode
                bnx2x_config_rx_mode
                    bnx2x_set_rx_mode_e2
In the function bnx2x_set_rx_mode_e2, the variable slowpath is operated.
Then the crash occurs.
To fix this crash, the variable slowpath is checked. And in the function
bnx2x_sp_rtnl_task, after dma memory allocation fails, another shutdown
and open NIC is executed.

Mintz, Yuval d0c32a1623 bnx2x: Don't log mc removal needlessly
When mc configuration changes bnx2x_config_mcast() can return 0 for
success, negative for failure and positive for benign reason preventing
its immediate work, e.g., when the command awaits the completion of
a previously sent command.

When removing all configured macs on a 578xx adapter, if a positive
value would be returned driver would errneously log it as an error.

Michal Schmidt 466e8bf10a bnx2x: prevent crash when accessing PTP with interface down
It is possible to crash the kernel by accessing a PTP device while its
associated bnx2x interface is down. Before the interface is brought up,

Fix it by checking if the interface is up.

Pan Bian 005f7e68e7 net: bnx2x: fix improper return value
Macro BNX2X_ALLOC_AND_SET(arr, lbl, func) calls kmalloc() to allocate
memory, and jumps to label "lbl" if the allocation fails. Label "lbl"
first cleans memory and then returns variable rc. Before calling the
macro, the value of variable rc is 0. Because 0 means no error, the
callers of bnx2x_init_firmware() may be misled. This patch fixes the bug,
assigning "-ENOMEM" to rc before calling macro NX2X_ALLOC_AND_SET().
