Hans Verkuil 9514063498 media: mpeg2-ctrls.h: move MPEG2 state controls to non-public header
The MPEG2 state controls for the cedrus stateless MPEG2 driver are
not yet stable. Move them out of the public headers into media/mpeg2-ctrls.h.

Eventually, once this has stabilized, they will be moved back to the
public headers.

Unfortunately I had to cast the control type to a u32 in two switch
statements to prevent a compiler warning about a control type define
not being part of the enum.

Arnd Bergmann df18bfd35b media: v4l: fix uapi mpeg slice params definition
We get a headers_check warning about the newly defined ioctl command
structures:

./usr/include/linux/v4l2-controls.h:1105: found __[us]{8,16,32,64} type without #include <linux/types.h>

This is resolved by including linux/types.h, as suggested by the
warning, but there is another problem: Three of the four structures
have an odd number of __u8 headers, but are aligned to 32 bit in the
v4l2_ctrl_mpeg2_slice_params, so we get an implicit padding byte
for each one. To solve that, let's add explicit padding that can
be set to zero and verified in the kernel.

Pull new experimental media request API from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
 "A new media request API

This API is needed to support device drivers that can dynamically
change their parameters for each new frame. The latest versions of
Google camera and codec HAL depends on such feature.

At this stage, it supports only stateless codecs.

It has been discussed for a long time (at least over the last 3-4
years), and we finally reached to something that seem to work.

This series contain both the API and core changes required to support
it and a new m2m decoder driver (cedrus).

As the current API is still experimental, the only real driver using
it (cedrus) was added at staging[1]. We intend to keep it there for a
while, in order to test the API. Only when we're sure that this API
works for other cases (like encoders), we'll move this driver out of
staging and set the API into a stone.

[1] We added support for the vivid virtual driver (used only for
testing) to it too, as it makes easier to test the API for the ones
that don't have the cedrus hardware"

Paul Kocialkowski c27bb30e7b media: v4l: Add definitions for MPEG-2 slice format and metadata
Stateless video decoding engines require both the MPEG-2 slices and
associated metadata from the video stream in order to decode frames.

This introduces definitions for a new pixel format, describing buffers
with MPEG-2 slice data, as well as control structure sfor passing the
frame metadata to drivers.

This is based on work from both Florent Revest and Hugues Fruchet.

Integrate the request support. This adds the v4l2_ctrl_request_complete
and v4l2_ctrl_request_setup functions to complete a request and (as a
helper function) to apply a request to the hardware.

It takes care of queuing requests and correctly chaining control values
in the request queue.

Note that when a request is marked completed it will copy control values
to the internal request state. This can be optimized in the future since
this is sub-optimal when dealing with large compound and/or array controls.

For the initial 'stateless codec' use-case the current implementation is
sufficient.

Though we have originally a control V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDEO_VPX_PROFILE and its name

between VP8 and VP9. In addition, this control cannot be used for querying since
it is not a menu control but an integer control, which cannot return an
arbitrary set of supported profiles.

The new control V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDEO_VP8_PROFILE is a menu control as with
controls for other codec profiles. (e.g. H264)

with de-mangling cleanups yet to come.

NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't

Tomasz Figa 758d90e161 [media] v4l2-core: Use kvmalloc() for potentially big allocations
There are multiple places where arrays or otherwise variable sized
buffer are allocated through V4L2 core code, including things like
controls, memory pages, staging buffers for ioctls and so on. Such
allocations can potentially require an order > 0 allocation from the
page allocator, which is not guaranteed to be fulfilled and is likely to
fail on a system with severe memory fragmentation (e.g. a system with
very long uptime).

Since the memory being allocated is intended to be used by the CPU
exclusively, we can consider using vmalloc() as a fallback and this is
exactly what the recently merged kvmalloc() helpers do. A kmalloc() call
is still attempted, even for order > 0 allocations, but it is done
with __GFP_NORETRY and __GFP_NOWARN, with expectation of failing if
requested memory is not available instantly. Only then the vmalloc()
fallback is used. This should give us fast and more reliable allocations
even on systems with higher memory pressure and/or more fragmentation,
while still retaining the same performance level on systems not
suffering from such conditions.

While at it, replace explicit array size calculations on changed
allocations with kvmalloc_array().

Purposedly not touching videobuf1, as it is deprecated, has only few
users remaining and would rather be seen removed instead.

Antonio Ospite 759b26a1d9 [media] media/v4l2-ctrls: fix setting autocluster to manual with VIDIOC_S_CTRL
Since commit 5d0360a4f0 it's not possible
anymore to set auto clusters from auto to manual using VIDIOC_S_CTRL.

For example, setting autogain to manual with gspca/ov534 driver and this
sequence of commands does not work:

  v4l2-ctl --set-ctrl=gain_automatic=1
  v4l2-ctl --list-ctrls | grep gain_automatic
  # The following does not work
  v4l2-ctl --set-ctrl=gain_automatic=0
  v4l2-ctl --list-ctrls | grep gain_automatic

Changing the value using VIDIOC_S_EXT_CTRLS (like qv4l2 does) works
fine.

The apparent cause by looking at the changes in 5d0360a and comparing
with the code path for VIDIOC_S_EXT_CTRLS seems to be that the code in
v4l2-ctrls.c::set_ctrl() is not calling user_to_new() anymore after
calling update_from_auto_cluster(master).

However the root cause of the problem is that calling
update_from_auto_cluster(master) overrides also the _master_ control
state calling cur_to_new() while it was supposed to only update the
volatile controls.

Calling user_to_new() after update_from_auto_cluster(master) was just
masking the original bug by restoring the correct new value of the
master control before making the changes permanent.

Fix the original bug by making update_from_auto_cluster() not override
the new master control value.

Benoit Parrot a807773405 [media] media: v4l2-ctrls: Fix 64bit support in get_ctrl()
When trying to use v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64() to retrieve a
V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_INTEGER64 type value the internal helper function
get_ctrl() would prematurely exit because for this control type
the 'is_int' flag is not set. This would result in v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64
always returning 0.

Also v4l2_ctrl_g_ctrl_int64() is reading and returning the 32bit value
member instead of the 64bit version, so fixing that as well.

This patch extends the condition check to allow the V4L2_CTRL_TYPE_INTEGER64

Hans Verkuil 9c9cb1fad8 [media] v4l2-ctrls: fix rounding calculation
Commit 958c7c7e65 ("[media] v4l2-ctrls: fix corner case in round-to-range code") broke
controls that use a negative range.

The cause was a s32/u32 mixup: ctrl->step is unsigned while all others are signed. So
the result type of the expression '(ctrl)->maximum - ((ctrl)->step / 2)' became unsigned,
making 'val >= (ctrl)->maximum - ((ctrl)->step / 2)' true, since '((u32)-128) > 128'
(if val = -128, maximum = 128 and step = 1).

So carefully cast (step / 2) to s32.

There was one cast of step to s32 where it should have been u32 because both offset and
step are unsigned, so casting to signed makes no sense there. You do need a cast to u32
there, because otherwise architectures that have no 64-bit division start complaining
(step is a u64).

When setting a control the control's new value is compared to the current
value twice: once by new_to_cur(), once by cluster_changed(). Not a big
deal when dealing with simple values, but it can be a problem when dealing
with compound types or arrays. So fix this: cluster_changed() sets the
has_changed flag, which is used by new_to_cur() instead of having to do
another compare.

Hans Verkuil 000e4f9a5b [media] v4l2-ctrls: rewrite copy routines to operate on union v4l2_ctrl_ptr
In order to implement array support and (for the future) configuration stores
we need to have more generic copy routines that all operate on the v4l2_ctrl_ptr
union. So instead of e.g. using ctrl->cur.string it uses ptr.p_char. This makes
e.g. cur_to_user generic so it can be used to copy any v4l2_ctrl_ptr value to
userspace, not just the (hardcoded) current value.

Hans Verkuil 0176077a81 [media] v4l2-ctrls: create type_ops
Since compound controls can have non-standard types we need to be able to do
type-specific checks etc. In order to make that easy type operations are added.
There are four operations:

- equal: check if two values are equal
- init: initialize a value
- log: log the value
- validate: validate a new value

The v4l2_ctrl struct adds p_new and p_cur unions at the end of the struct.
This union provides a standard way of accessing control types through a pointer,
which greatly simplifies internal control processing.

On automatic mode (normal mode), bandwidth is calculated from sampling

Antti Palosaari 80807fada4 [media] v4l: add RF tuner gain controls
Modern silicon RF tuners used nowadays has many controllable gain
stages on signal path. Usually, but not always, there is at least
3 gain stages. Also on some cases there could be multiple gain
stages within the ones specified here. However, I think that having
these three controllable gain stages offers enough fine-tuning for
real use cases.

1) LNA gain. That is first gain just after antenna input.
2) Mixer gain. It is located quite middle of the signal path, where
RF signal is down-converted to IF/BB.
3) IF gain. That is last gain in order to adjust output signal level
to optimal level for receiving party (usually demodulator ADC).

Each gain stage could be set rather often both manual or automatic
(AGC) mode. Due to that add separate controls for controlling
operation mode.

Andy Walls 6cd247ef22 [media] v4l2-ctrls: eliminate lockdep false alarms for struct v4l2_ctrl_handler.lock
When calling v4l2_ctrl_add_handler(), lockdep would detect a potential
recursive locking problem on a situation that is by design intended and
not a recursive lock. This happened because all struct
v4l2_ctrl_handler.lock mutexes were created as members of the same lock
class in v4l2_ctrl_handler_init(), and v4l2_ctrl_add_handler() takes the
hdl->lock on two different v4l2_ctrl_handler instances.
This change breaks the large lockdep lock class for struct
v4l2_ctrl_handler.lock and breaks it into v4l2_ctrl_handler
instantiation specific lock classes with meaningful class names.
This will validly eliminate lockdep alarms for v4l2_ctrl_handler locking
validation, as long as the relationships between drivers adding v4l2
controls to their own handler from other v4l2 drivers' control handlers
remains straightforward.
struct v4l2_ctrl_handler.lock lock classes are created with names such
that the output of cat /proc/lockdep indicates where in the v4l2 driver
code v4l2_ctrl_handle_init() is being called on instantiations:
ffffffffa045f490 FD:   10 BD:    8 +.+...: cx2341x:1534:(hdl)->lock

ffffffffa04fbc80 FD:   11 BD:    3 +.+.+.: wm8775:246:(&state->hdl)->lock
Some lock chains, that were previously causing the recursion alarms, are
now visible in the output of cat /proc/lockdep_chains:
