Linus Torvalds ecb679fc2c Staging driver bugfixes for 3.16-rc8
Here are some tiny staging driver bugfixes that I've had in my tree for
the past week that resolve some reported issues. Nothing major at all,
but it would be good to get them merged for 3.16-rc8 or -final.

This would have been detected by GCC, except that the "ret" variable was
initialized with a bogus value to disable GCC's uninitialized variable
warnings. I've cleaned that up, as well.

Denis Carikli c026a3f397 imx-drm: parallel-display: Fix DPMS default state.
If connector->dpms is left untouched, it defaults
to DRM_MODE_DPMS_ON (0).

As a result, drm_helper_connector_dpms will exit when
it will be asked to set the state to DRM_MODE_DPMS_ON,
because it is already set.

That issue prevented displays from turning on at boot.

Arnd Bergmann 4856fbd12d [media] staging: tighten omap4iss dependencies
The OMAP4 camera support depends on I2C and VIDEO_V4L2, both
of which can be loadable modules. This causes build failures
if we want the camera driver to be built-in.

This can be solved by turning the option into "tristate",
which unfortunately causes another problem, because the
driver incorrectly calls a platform-internal interface
for omap4_ctrl_pad_readl/omap4_ctrl_pad_writel.

Instead, this patch just forbids the invalid configurations
and ensures that the driver can only be built if all its
dependencies are built-in.

Arnd Bergmann 88513624be staging: comedi: addi_apci_1564: add addi_watchdog dependency
With commit aed3f9d498 ("staging: comedi: addi_apci_1564:
absorb apci1564_reset()"), the apci 1564 driver has gained
a dependency on the addi watchdog module, which is not reflected
correctly in Kconfig, and that can lead to link errors
when the watchdog is disabled.

This adds an explicit 'select', like it is done in the other
addi apci drivers that need it.

Greg Kroah-Hartman e28642c04a First set of IIO fixes for the 3.16 cycle.
A mixed bag of fixes, many of which feel just to late for 3.15.

 * hid sensors - some devices need a feature report request in order to
change power state. This isn't part of the spec, but has been observed
on several devices and does no harm to others.
 * mpl3115 has had two errors in the buffer description fixed. The presure is
signed, not unsigned and the temperature has 12 bits rather than 16.
These could lead to incorrect interpretation of the data in userspace.
 * tsl2x7x - the high byte of the proximity thresholds should be written along
with the low byte (which was). This could lead to interesting results
   with large thresholds.
 * twl4030 - a flag to specify processed values were required was not set
when initializing a reading. As such values returned were in an unknown
state. Fixed by simply initializing it appropriately.
 * IIO_SIMPLE_DUMMY_BUFFER did not select IIO_BUFFER leading to randconfig
   build errors.
 * ak8975 was applying an unwanted le16_to_cpu conversion as the i2c framework
already performs one. As such for big endian systems, the bytes would be
in the wrong order in the magnetic field measurements reported.
 * mxs-lradc - the controllable voltage dividers were not enabled / disabled for
later channels than the first one during conversion.
 * at91_adc error handling returned -ENOMEM in a u8. Return value of
at91_adc_get_trigger_value_by_name changed to int thus allowing -ENOMEM and
also original values to be returned.
 * mcb - mcb_request_mem returns and ERR_PTR but the caller was checking for
   NULL to detect an error.

Philipp Zabel 39b9004d1f gpu: ipu-v3: Move i.MX IPUv3 core driver out of staging
The i.MX Image Processing Unit (IPU) contains a number of image processing
blocks that sit right in the middle between DRM and V4L2. Some of the modules,
such as Display Controller, Processor, and Interface (DC, DP, DI) or CMOS
Sensor Interface (CSI) and their FIFOs could be assigned to either framework,
but others, such as the dma controller (IDMAC) and image converter (IC) can
be used by both.
The IPUv3 core driver provides an internal API to access the modules, to be
used by both DRM and V4L2 IPUv3 drivers.

Linus Torvalds e5c4ecdc55 USB driver patches for 3.16-rc1
Here is the big USB driver pull request for 3.16-rc1.

Nothing huge here, but lots of little things in the USB core, and in
lots of drivers. Hopefully the USB power management will be work better
now that it has been reworked to do per-port power control dynamically.
There's also a raft of gadget driver updates and fixes, CONFIG_USB_DEBUG
is finally gone now that everything has been converted over to the
dynamic debug inteface, the last hold-out drivers were cleaned up and
the config option removed. There were also other minor things all
through the drivers/usb/ tree, the shortlog shows this pretty well.

All have been in linux-next, including the very last patch, which came
from linux-next to fix a build issue on some platforms.

Jeff Layton 130d1f956a locks: ensure that fl_owner is always initialized properly in flock and lease codepaths
Currently, the fl_owner isn't set for flock locks. Some filesystems use
byte-range locks to simulate flock locks and there is a common idiom in
those that does:

    fl->fl_owner = (fl_owner_t)filp;
    fl->fl_start = 0;
    fl->fl_end = OFFSET_MAX;

Since flock locks are generally "owned" by the open file description,
move this into the common flock lock setup code. The fl_start and fl_end
fields are already set appropriately, so remove the unneeded setting of
that in flock ops in those filesystems as well.

Finally, the lease code also sets the fl_owner as if they were owned by
the process and not the open file description. This is incorrect as
leases have the same ownership semantics as flock locks. Set them the
same way. The lease code doesn't actually use the fl_owner value for
anything, so this is more for consistency's sake than a bugfix.

Heesub Shin 0cd2dc4db3 staging: ion: shrink highmem pages on kswapd
ION system heap keeps pages in its pool for better performance. When the
system is under memory pressure, slab shrinker calls the callback
registered and then the pages pooled get freed.

When the shrinker is called, it checks gfp_mask and determines whether
the pages from highmem need to be freed or the pages from lowmem.
Usually, slab shrinker is invoked on kswapd context which gfp_mask is
always GFP_KERNEL, so only lowmem pages are released on kswapd context.
This means that highmem pages in the pool are never reclaimed until
direct reclaim occurs. This can be problematic when the page pool holds
excessive amounts of highmem.

For now, the shrinker callback cannot know exactly which zone should be
targeted for reclamation, as enough information are not passed to. Thus,
it makes sense to shrink both lowmem and highmem zone on kswapd context.
