Linus Torvalds 9ec97169e7 Merge branch 'for-3.6' of git://gitorious.org/linux-pwm/linux-pwm
Pull PWM subsystem from Thierry Reding:
 "The new PWM subsystem aims at collecting all implementations of the
  legacy PWM API and to eventually replace it completely.

  The subsystem has been in development for over half a year now and
  many drivers have already been converted. It has been in linux-next
  for a couple of weeks and there have been no major issues so I think
  it is ready for inclusion in your tree."

Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>:
 "Very much Ack on the new subsystem. It uses the interface
  declarations as the previously separate pwm drivers, so nothing
  changes for now in the drivers using it, although it enables us to
  change those more easily in the future if we want to.

  This work is also one of the missing pieces that are required to
  eventually build ARM kernels for multiple platforms, which is
  currently prohibited (amongs other things) by the fact that you cannot
  have more than one driver exporting the pwm functions."

Jiri Kosina e1c9ac420e Revert "backlight: fix memory leak on obscure error path"
This reverts commit 9ea3c49896.

'data' is being allocated by devm_kzalloc(), is it's actually
wrong to free() it in the error path, as it will be destroyed
properly later.

Alexandre Courbot 9fb978b12f pwm_backlight: pass correct brightness to callback
pwm_backlight_update_status calls the notify() and notify_after()
callbacks before and after applying the new PWM settings. However, if
brightness levels are used, the brightness value will be changed from
the index into the levels array to the PWM duty cycle length before
being passed to notify_after(), which results in inconsistent behavior.

Inki Dae d54ad83f3d lcd: add callbacks for early fb event blank support
This patchset adds early fb blank feature that a callback of lcd panel
driver is called prior to specific fb driver's one. In the case of
MIPI-DSI based video mode LCD Panel, for lcd power off, the power off
commands should be transferred to lcd panel with display and mipi-dsi
controller enabled because the commands is set to lcd panel at vsync porch
period. and in opposite case, the callback of fb driver should be called
prior to lcd panel driver's one because of same issue. Also if fb_blank
mode is changed to FB_BLANK_POWERDOWN then display controller would be
off(clock disable) but lcd panel would be still on. at this time, you
could see some issue like sparkling on lcd panel because video clock to be
delivered to ldi module of lcd panel was disabled. this issue could
occurs for all lcd panels.

The callback order is as the following:

at fb_blank function of fbmem.c
-> fb_notifier_call_chain(FB_EARLY_EVENT_BLANK)
       -> lcd panel driver's early_set_power()
-> info->fbops->fb_blank()
       -> spcefic fb driver's fb_blank()
-> fb_notifier_call_chain(FB_EVENT_BLANK)
       -> lcd panel driver's set_power()
   -> fb_notifier_call_chain(FB_R_EARLY_EVENT_BLANK) if
info->fops->fb_blank() was failed.

fb_notifier_call_chain(FB_R_EARLY_EVENT_BLANK) would be called to revert
the effects of previous FB_EARLY_EVENT_BLANK call. and note that if
early_set_power() of lcd_ops is NULL then early fb blank callback would be
ignored.

This patch:

Add early_set_power and r_early_set_power callbacks.  early_set_power
callback is called prior to fb_blank() of fbmem.c and r_early_set_power
callback is called if fb_blank() was failed to revert the effects of the
early_set_power call of lcd panel driver.

Lars-Peter Clausen aa523a82ee blacklight: remove redundant spi driver bus initialization
In ancient times it was necessary to manually initialize the bus field of
an spi_driver to spi_bus_type. These days this is done in
spi_driver_register() so we can drop the manual assignment.

The patch was generated using the following coccinelle semantic patch:
// <smpl>
@@
identifier _driver;
@@
struct spi_driver _driver = {
	.driver = {
-		.bus = &spi_bus_type,
	},

Linus Torvalds 314489bd4c ARM: SoC fixes for 3.4-rc2
A bunch of fixes for regressions (and a few other problems) in 3.4-rc1:

 * Fix for regression of mach/io.h cleanup on platforms with PCI or PCMCIA
   (adding back the include file on those for now)
 * AT91 fixes for usb and spi
 * smsc911x ethernet fixes for i.MX
 * smsc911x fixes for OMAP
 * gpio fixes for Tegra
 * A handful of build error and warning fixes for various platforms
 * cpufreq kconfig dependencies, build and lowlevel debug fixes for
   Samsung platforms

 In other words, more or less the regular collection of -rc1/2 type
 material. A few of them, in particular the smsc911x for OMAP series, aren't
 technically regressions for 3.4, but they're valid fixes and we're still
 relatively early in the rc cycle so it seems appropriate to include them.

Ashish Jangam 6ede3d832a backlight: add driver for DA9052/53 PMIC v1
DA9052/53 PMIC has capability to supply power for upto 3 banks of 6
white serial LEDS. It can also control intensity of independent banks
and to drive these banks boost converter will provide up to 24V and
forward current of max 50mA.

This patch allows to control intensity of the individual WLEDs bank
through DA9052/53 PMIC.

This patch is functionally tested on Samsung SMDKV6410.

Paul Gortmaker beca98c93d ARM: fix lcd power build failure in collie_defconfig
Commit 086ada54ab

  "FB: sa1100: remove global sa1100fb_.*_power function pointers"

got rid of all instances but one in locomolcd.c -- which was
conditional on CONFIG_SA1100_COLLIE. The associated .power
field which replaces the global is populated in mach-sa1100/collie.c
so move the assignment there, but make it conditional on the
locomolcd support, so use CONFIG_BACKLIGHT_LOCOMO in that file.

Grazvydas Ignotas 35c1682cc0 backlight: add support for Pandora backlight
Add support for pandora (openpandora.org) backlight.

It might look like all this could be done using pwm_bl.c instead, but
there is a need of special programming sequence when turning on the LED
driver chip or else it will misbehave. Doing this using pwm_bl.c would
require to use some register programming and pwm functions from platform
code, and ARM maintainers are allergic to driver-like code in /arch/arm
nowadays. The PMIC PWM driver is currently missing too, so pwm_bl.c
can't be used anyway.

THis driver supports TI LP8550/LP8551/LP8552/LP8553/LP8556 backlight
devices.

The brightness can be controlled by the I2C or PWM input. The lp855x
driver provides both modes. For the PWM control, pwm-specific functions
can be defined in the platform data. And some information can be read
via the sysfs(lp855x device attributes).

For details, please refer to Documentation/backlight/lp855x-driver.txt.

Ryan Mallon 0fd1958050 ep93xx: Use ioremap for backlight driver
The ep93xx backlight driver uses a single register within the
framebuffer's register space. Currently the backlight driver uses a
static IO mapping for the register since the memory cannot be
requested by both drivers.

Convert the static mapping to use ioremap so that we can remove the
dependency on mach/hardware.h. To do so, we need remove the
request_mem_region from both the backlight and framebuffer drivers,
since whichever driver is loaded second will fail with -EBUSY
otherwise.

A proper fix is still required, and a FIXME comment has been added to
both drivers.

Mark Brown 0556dc340e backlight: fix broken regulator API usage in l4f00242t03
The regulator support in the l4f00242t03 is very non-idiomatic. Rather
than requesting the regulators based on the device name and the supply
names used by the device the driver requires boards to pass system
specific supply names around through platform data. The driver also
conditionally requests the regulators based on this platform data, adding
unneeded conditional code to the driver.

Fix this by removing the platform data and converting to the standard
idiom, also updating all in tree users of the driver. As no datasheet
appears to be available for the LCD I'm guessing the names for the
supplies based on the existing users and I've no ability to do anything
more than compile test.

The use of regulator_set_voltage() in the driver is also problematic,
since fixed voltages are required the expectation would be that the
voltages would be fixed in the constraints set by the machines rather than
manually configured by the driver, but is less problematic.

Axel Lin 5d6f921b42 drivers/video/backlight/aat2870_bl.c: fix setting max_current
- Current implementation tests wrong value for setting
   aat2870_bl->max_current.

 - In the current implementation, we cannot differentiate between 2 cases:

   a) if pdata->max_current is not set , or

   b) pdata->max_current is set to AAT2870_CURRENT_0_45 (which is also 0).

   Fix it by setting AAT2870_CURRENT_0_45 to be 1 and adjust the equation in
