Daniel Lezcano ba5d08c0ea clocksource/drivers: Rename clocksource_probe to timer_probe
The function name is now renamed to 'timer_probe' for consistency with
the CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE => TIMER_OF_DECLARE change.

Christoph Hellwig 6bc51cbaa9 signal: Remove non-uapi <asm/siginfo.h>
By moving the kernel side __SI_* defintions right next to the userspace
ones we can kill the non-uapi versions of <asm/siginfo.h> include
include/asm-generic/siginfo.h and untangle the unholy mess of includes.

Linus Torvalds 791a9a666d Kbuild UAPI header export updates for v4.12
Improvement of headers_install by Nicolas Dichtel.

It has been long since the introduction of uapi directories,
but the de-coupling of exported headers has not been completed.
Headers listed in header-y are exported whether they exist in
uapi directories or not. His work fixes this inconsistency.

All (and only) headers under uapi directories are now exported.
The asm-generic wrappers are still exceptions, but this is a big
 step forward.

Nicolas Dichtel fcc8487d47 uapi: export all headers under uapi directories
Regularly, when a new header is created in include/uapi/, the developer
forgets to add it in the corresponding Kbuild file. This error is usually
detected after the release is out.

In fact, all headers under uapi directories should be exported, thus it's
useless to have an exhaustive list.

After this patch, the following files, which were not exported, are now
exported (with make headers_install_all):

Alexey Brodkin cf4100d1cd Revert "ARCv2: Allow enabling PAE40 w/o HIGHMEM"
This reverts commit 7cab91b87d.

Now when we have a real hardware platform with PAE40 enabled
(here I mean axs103 with firmware v1.2) and 1 Gb of DDR mapped to
0x1_a000_0000-0x1_ffff_ffff we're really targeting memory above 4Gb
when PAE40 is enabled. This in its turn requires HIGHMEM to be enabled
otherwise user won't see any difference with enabling PAE in
kernel configuration as only lowmem will be used anyways.

Vineet Gupta 868a65307d ARC: mm: fix build failure in linux-next for UP builds

| arch/arc/include/asm/mmu.h:75:21: error: 'NR_CPUS' undeclared here (not in a function)
| make[3]: *** [arch/arc/mm/ioremap.o] Error 1
| make[2]: *** [arch/arc/mm] Error 2
| make[1]: *** [arch/arc] Error 2

which I bisected to a subtle side-effect of a totally benign mm patch
("mm, vmalloc: properly track vmalloc users") which caused a header
include chain deviation - asm/mmu.h using NR_CPUS before including
linux/threads.h

Fix that by adding the dependnet header and while it at fix a related
header to include linux headers aheads of asm headers as sometimes that
slso triggers such issues !

DC_CTRL.RGN_OP is 3 bits wide, however only 1 bit is used in current

The current code targetting 3 bits leads to additional 8 byte AND
operation which can be elided given that only 1 bit is ever set by
software and/or looked at by hardware

Vineet Gupta 3d5e80125a ARCv2: entry: save Accumulator register pair (r58:59) if present
Accumulator is present in configs with FPU and/or DSP MPY (mpy > 6)

Instead of doing this in pt_regs (and thus every kernel entry/exit),
this could have been done in context switch (and for user task only) as
currently kernel doesn't clobber these registers for its own accord.
However we will soon start using 64-bit multiply instructions for kernel
which can clobber these. Also gcc folks also plan to start using these
as GPRs, hence better to always save/restore them

Alexey Brodkin c70c473396 ARCv2: SLC: Make sure busy bit is set properly on SLC flushing
As reported in STAR 9001165532, an SLC control reg read (for checking
busy state) right after SLC invalidate command may incorrectly return
NOT busy causing software to NOT spin-wait while operation is underway.
(and for some reason this only happens if L1 cache is also disabled - as
required by IOC programming model)

Suggested workaround is to do an additional Control Reg read, which
ensures the 2nd read gets the right status.

MotherBoard section has its "ranges" set to 0xE000_0000-0xF000_0000.

Kirill A. Shutemov 9849a5697d arch, mm: convert all architectures to use 5level-fixup.h
If an architecture uses 4level-fixup.h we don't need to do anything as
it includes 5level-fixup.h.

If an architecture uses pgtable-nop*d.h, define __ARCH_USE_5LEVEL_HACK
before inclusion of the header. It makes asm-generic code to use
5level-fixup.h.

If an architecture has 4-level paging or folds levels on its own,
include 5level-fixup.h directly.

Vlad Zakharov 7f35144cea ARC: get rate from clk driver instead of reading device tree
We were reading clock rate directly from device tree "clock-frequency"
property of corresponding clock node in show_cpuinfo function.

Such approach is correct only in case cpu is always clocked by
"fixed-clock". If we use clock driver that allows rate to be changed
this won't work as rate may change during the time or even
"clock-frequency" property may not be presented at all.

So this commit replaces reading device tree with getting rate from clock
driver. This approach is much more flexible and will work for both fixed
and mutable clocks.

Trying to get clock for CPU cores on SMP systems I found that I was only
able to get clock for core[0]. That was because only one cpu@0 node was
represented in ARC HS device tree and it was impossible to get clock for
"non-existing" cores.

So as ARC HS may have up to 4 cores we update device tree to match
maximum possible cores quantity.

Ingo Molnar 6e84f31522 sched/headers: Prepare for new header dependencies before moving code to <linux/sched/mm.h>
We are going to split <linux/sched/mm.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which
will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files.

Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/mm.h> file that just
maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and
bisectable.

The APIs that are going to be moved first are:

   mm_alloc()
   __mmdrop()
   mmdrop()
   mmdrop_async_fn()
   mmdrop_async()
   mmget_not_zero()
   mmput()
   mmput_async()
   get_task_mm()
   mm_access()
   mm_release()

Include the new header in the files that are going to need it.

Vegard Nossum 3fce371bfa mm: add new mmget() helper
Apart from adding the helper function itself, the rest of the kernel is
converted mechanically using:

  git grep -l 'atomic_inc.*mm_users' | xargs sed -i 's/atomic_inc(&\(.*\)->mm_users);/mmget\(\1\);/'
  git grep -l 'atomic_inc.*mm_users' | xargs sed -i 's/atomic_inc(&\(.*\)\.mm_users);/mmget\(\&\1\);/'

This is needed for a later patch that hooks into the helper, but might
be a worthwhile cleanup on its own.

Masahiro Yamada 550116d21a scripts/spelling.txt: add "aligment" pattern and fix typo instances
Fix typos and add the following to the scripts/spelling.txt:

  aligment||alignment

I did not touch the "N_BYTE_ALIGMENT" macro in
drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/wifi.h to avoid unpredictable
impact.

I fixed "_aligment_handler" in arch/openrisc/kernel/entry.S because
it is surrounded by #if 0 ... #endif. It is surely safe and I
confirmed "_alignment_handler" is correct.

I also fixed the "controler" I found in the same hunk in
arch/openrisc/kernel/head.S.

Luis R. Rodriguez 7d134b2ce6 kprobes: move kprobe declarations to asm-generic/kprobes.h
Often all is needed is these small helpers, instead of compiler.h or a
full kprobes.h. This is important for asm helpers, in fact even some
asm/kprobes.h make use of these helpers... instead just keep a generic
asm file with helpers useful for asm code with the least amount of
clutter as possible.

Likewise we need now to also address what to do about this file for both
when architectures have CONFIG_HAVE_KPROBES, and when they do not. Then
for when architectures have CONFIG_HAVE_KPROBES but have disabled
CONFIG_KPROBES.

Right now most asm/kprobes.h do not have guards against CONFIG_KPROBES,
this means most architecture code cannot include asm/kprobes.h safely.
Correct this and add guards for architectures missing them.
Additionally provide architectures that not have kprobes support with
the default asm-generic solution. This lets us force asm/kprobes.h on
the header include/linux/kprobes.h always, but most importantly we can
now safely include just asm/kprobes.h on architecture code without
bringing the full kitchen sink of header files.

Two architectures already provided a guard against CONFIG_KPROBES on its
kprobes.h: sh, arch. The rest of the architectures needed gaurds added.
We avoid including any not-needed headers on asm/kprobes.h unless
kprobes have been enabled.

In a subsequent atomic change we can try now to remove compiler.h from
include/linux/kprobes.h.

During this sweep I've also identified a few architectures defining a
common macro needed for both kprobes and ftrace, that of the definition
of the breakput instruction up. Some refer to this as
BREAKPOINT_INSTRUCTION. This must be kept outside of the #ifdef
CONFIG_KPROBES guard.

Linus Torvalds ac1820fb28 This is a tree wide change and has been kept separate for that reason.
Bart Van Assche noted that the ib DMA mapping code was significantly
similar enough to the core DMA mapping code that with a few changes
it was possible to remove the IB DMA mapping code entirely and
switch the RDMA stack to use the core DMA mapping code. This resulted
in a nice set of cleanups, but touched the entire tree. This branch
will be submitted separately to Linus at the end of the merge window
as per normal practice for tree wide changes like this.

 "Final extable.h related changes.

This completes the separation of exception table content from the
module.h header file. This is achieved with the final commit that
removes the one line back compatible change that sourced extable.h
  into the module.h file.

The commits are unchanged since January, with the exception of a
couple Acks that came in for the last two commits a bit later. The
changes have been in linux-next for quite some time[1] and have got
widespread arch coverage via toolchains I have and also from
additional ones the kbuild bot has.

Maintaners of the various arch were Cc'd during the postings to
lkml[2] and informed that the intention was to take the remaining arch
specific changes and lump them together with the final two non-arch
specific changes and submit for this merge window.

The ia64 diffstat stands out and probably warrants a mention. In an
earlier review, Al Viro made a valid comment that the original header
separation of content left something to be desired, and that it get
fixed as a part of this change, hence the larger diffstat"

The problem is that the kernel expects that by default switching
of banks is not used by all interrupts. It is necessary to set a
default nonzero priority for all available interrupts to avoid
undefined behaviour.

Yuriy Kolerov f33b8cddc8 ARCv2: intc: Rework the build time irq count information
Currently Kconfig knob ARC_NUMBER_OF_INTERRUPTS is used as indicator of
hard irq count. But it is flawed that it doesn't affect
 - NR_IRQS : for number of virtual interrupts
 - NR_CPU_IRQS : for number of hardware interrupts

Moreover the actual hardware irq count might still not be same as
ARC_NUMBER_OF_INTERRUPTS. So use the information availble in the
Build Configuration Registers and get rid of the Kconfig option.

We still need "some" build time info about irq count to set up
sufficient number of vector table entries. This is done with a
sufficiently large NR_CPU_IRQS which will eventually be used soley for
that purpose (subsequent patches will remove its usage elsewhere)

So to summarize what this patch does:

  * NR_CPU_IRQS defines a maximum number of hardware interrupts.
  * Remove ARC_NUMBER_OF_INTERRUPTS option and create interrupts
table for all possible hardware interrupts.
  * Increase a maximum number of virtual IRQs to 512. ARCv2 can
support 240 interrupts in the core interrupts controllers
and 128 interrupts in IDU. Thus 512 virtual IRQs must be
enough for most configurations of boards.

This patch leads to NR_CPU_IRQS in 2 places, to reduce the overall
churn. The next patch will remove the 2nd definition anyways.

Frederic Weisbecker b672592f02 sched/cputime: Remove generic asm headers
cputime_t is now only used by two architectures:

	* powerpc (when CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_NATIVE=y)

And since the core doesn't use it anymore, we don't need any arch support

A final cleanup would be to provide an efficient pure arch

After emulating an unaligned access in delay slot of a branch, we
pretend as the delay slot never happened - so return back to actual

Curently we did this by handling STATUS32.DE, we also need to clear the

Vineet Gupta bf02454a74 ARC: smp-boot: Decouple Non masters waiting API from jump to entry point
For run-on-reset SMP configs, non master cores call a routine which
waits until Master gives it a "go" signal (currently using a shared
mem flag). The same routine then jumps off the well known entry point of
all non Master cores i.e. @first_lines_of_secondary

This patch moves out the last part into one single place in early boot
code.

This is better in terms of absraction (the wait API only waits) and
returns, leaving out the "jump off to" part.

In actual implementation this requires some restructuring of the early
boot code as well as Master now jumps to BSS setup explicitly,
vs. falling thru into it before.

Technically this patch doesn't cause any functional change, it just
moves the ugly #ifdef'ry from assembly code to "C"

Vineet Gupta 36425cd670 ARC: udelay: fix inline assembler by adding LP_COUNT to clobber list
commit 3c7c7a2fc8 ("ARC: Don't use "+l" inline asm constraint")
modified the inline assembly to setup LP_COUNT register manually and NOT
rely on gcc to do it (with the +l inline assembler contraint hint, now
being retired in the compiler)

However the fix was flawed as we didn't add LP_COUNT to asm clobber list,
meaning gcc doesn't know that LP_COUNT or zero-delay-loops are in action
in the inline asm.

This resulted in some fun - as nested ZOL loops were being generared

| mov lp_count,250000 ;16 # tmp235,
| lp .L__GCC__LP14 #		<======= OUTER LOOP (gcc generated)
| .L14:
| ld r2, [r5] # MEM[(volatile u32 *)prephitmp_43], w
| dmb 1
| breq r2, -1, @.L21 #, w,,
| bbit0 r2,1,@.L13 # w,,
| ld r4,[r7] ;25 # loops_per_jiffy, loops_per_jiffy
| mpymu r3,r4,r6 #, loops_per_jiffy, tmp234
|
|   mov lp_count, r3 #		 <====== INNER LOOP (from inline asm)
| lp 1f
| nop
| 1:
| nop_s
| .L__GCC__LP14: ; loop end, start is @.L14 #,

This caused issues with drivers relying on sane behaviour of udelay
friends.

With LP_COUNT added to clobber list, gcc doesn't generate the outer
loop in say above case.

Yuriy Kolerov 92fdb527ee ARCv2: MCIP: Deprecate setting of affinity in Device Tree
Ignore value of interrupt distribution mode for common interrupts in
IDU since setting of affinity using value from Device Tree is deprecated
in ARC. Originally it is done in idu_irq_xlate() function and it is
semantically wrong and does not guaranty that an affinity value will be
set properly. idu_irq_enable() function is better place for
initialization of common interrupts.

By default send all common interrupts to all available online CPUs.
The affinity of common interrupts in IDU must be set manually since
in some cases the kernel will not call irq_set_affinity() by itself:

  1. When the kernel is not configured with support of SMP.
  2. When the kernel is configured with support of SMP but upper
interrupt controllers does not support setting of the affinity
and cannot propagate it to IDU.

Alexander Duyck 8a3385d2d4 arch/arc: add option to skip sync on DMA mapping
Patch series "Add support for DMA writable pages being writable by the
network stack", v3.

The first 19 patches in the set add support for the DMA attribute
DMA_ATTR_SKIP_CPU_SYNC on multiple platforms/architectures. This is
needed so that we can flag the calls to dma_map/unmap_page so that we do
not invalidate cache lines that do not currently belong to the device.
Instead we have to take care of this in the driver via a call to
sync_single_range_for_cpu prior to freeing the Rx page.

Patch 20 adds support for dma_map_page_attrs and dma_unmap_page_attrs so
that we can unmap and map a page using the DMA_ATTR_SKIP_CPU_SYNC
attribute.

Patch 21 adds support for freeing a page that has multiple references
being held by a single caller. This way we can free page fragments that
were allocated by a given driver.

The last 2 patches use these updates in the igb driver, and lay the
groundwork to allow for us to reimplement the use of build_skb.

This patch (of 23):

This change allows us to pass DMA_ATTR_SKIP_CPU_SYNC which allows us to
avoid invoking cache line invalidation if the driver will just handle it
later via a sync_for_cpu or sync_for_device call.

Vineet Gupta 107177b14d ARCv2: intc: default all interrupts to priority 1
ARC HS Cores support configurable multiple interrupt priorities of upto
16 levels. In commit dec2b2849c ("ARCv2: intc: Allow interruption by
lowest priority interrupt") we switched to 15 which seems a bit
excessive given that there would be rare hardware implementing so many
preemption levels AND running Linux. It would seem that 2 levels will be
more common so switch to 1 as the default priority level. This will be
the "lower" priority level saving 0 for implementing NMI style support.

This scheme also works in systems with more than 2 prioity levels as
well.

Up until now we had ARC PGU not enabled in axs10x defconfigs trying
to not bloat kernel image again with yet another drivers and subsystems.

This change configures ARC PGU (as well as DRM bits it depends on)
to be built as a module and so those who need LCD screen to work on

help of the following command on host:

 - CONFIG_ARC_TIMERS : legacy 32-bit TIMER0 and TIMER1 which count UP
from @CNT to @LIMIT, before optionally triggering an interrupt.
These are programmed using ARC auxiliary register interface.
These are present in all ARC cores (ARC700 and ARC HS38)
TIMER0 serves as clockevent for all ARC linux builds.
TIMER1 is used for clocksource in arc700 builds.

 - CONFIG_ARC_TIMERS_64BIT: 64-bit counters, RTC and GFRC found in
ARC HS38 cores. These are independnet IP blocks with different

Christian Borntraeger 79ab11cdb9 locking/core: Introduce cpu_relax_yield()
For spinning loops people do often use barrier() or cpu_relax().
For most architectures cpu_relax and barrier are the same, but on
some architectures cpu_relax can add some latency.
For example on power,sparc64 and arc, cpu_relax can shift the CPU
towards other hardware threads in an SMT environment.
On s390 cpu_relax does even more, it uses an hypercall to the
hypervisor to give up the timeslice.
In contrast to the SMT yielding this can result in larger latencies.
In some places this latency is unwanted, so another variant
"cpu_relax_lowlatency" was introduced. Before this is used in more
and more places, lets revert the logic and provide a cpu_relax_yield
that can be called in places where yielding is more important than
latency. By default this is the same as cpu_relax on all architectures.

Arnd Bergmann a76bcf557e Kbuild: enable -Wmaybe-uninitialized warning for "make W=1"
Traditionally, we have always had warnings about uninitialized variables
enabled, as this is part of -Wall, and generally a good idea [1], but it
also always produced false positives, mainly because this is a variation
of the halting problem and provably impossible to get right in all cases
[2].

Various people have identified cases that are particularly bad for false
positives, and in commit e74fc973b6 ("Turn off -Wmaybe-uninitialized
when building with -Os"), I turned off the warning for any build that
was done with CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE. This drastically reduced the number
of false positive warnings in the default build but unfortunately had
the side effect of turning the warning off completely in 'allmodconfig'
builds, which in turn led to a lot of warnings (both actual bugs, and
remaining false positives) to go in unnoticed.

With commit 877417e6ff ("Kbuild: change CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE
definition") enabled the warning again for allmodconfig builds in v4.7
and in v4.8-rc1, I had finally managed to address all warnings I get in
an ARM allmodconfig build and most other maybe-uninitialized warnings
for ARM randconfig builds.

However, commit 6e8d666e92 ("Disable "maybe-uninitialized" warning
globally") was merged at the same time and disabled it completely for
all configurations, because of false-positive warnings on x86 that I had
not addressed until then. This caused a lot of actual bugs to get
merged into mainline, and I sent several dozen patches for these during
the v4.9 development cycle. Most of these are actual bugs, some are for
correct code that is safe because it is only called under external
constraints that make it impossible to run into the case that gcc sees,
and in a few cases gcc is just stupid and finds something that can
obviously never happen.

I have now done a few thousand randconfig builds on x86 and collected
all patches that I needed to address every single warning I got (I can
provide the combined patch for the other warnings if anyone is
interested), so I hope we can get the warning back and let people catch
the actual bugs earlier.

This reverts the change to disable the warning completely and for now
brings it back at the "make W=1" level, so we can get it merged into
mainline without introducing false positives. A follow-up patch enables
it on all levels unless some configuration option turns it off because
of false-positives.

Yuriy Kolerov 0a0a047def ARCv2: MCIP: Use IDU_M_DISTRI_DEST mode if there is only 1 destination core
ARC linux uses 2 distribution modes for common interrupts: round robin
mode (IDU_M_DISTRI_RR) and a simple destination mode (IDU_M_DISTRI_DEST).
The first one is used when more than 1 cores may handle a common interrupt
and the second one is used when only 1 core may handle a common interrupt.

However idu_irq_set_affinity() always sets IDU_M_DISTRI_RR for all affinity
values. But there is no sense in setting of such mode if only 1 core must
handle a common interrupt.

This came up when reviewing code to address missing IRQ affinity
setting in AXS103 platform and/or implementing hierarchical IRQ domains

- smp_ipi_irq_setup() callers pass hwirq but in turn calls
request_percpu_irq() which expects a linux virq. So invoke
  irq_find_mapping() to do the conversion
(also explicitify this in code by renaming the args appropriately)

- idu_of_init()/idu_cascade_isr() were similarly using linux virq where

Vineet Gupta e6e335bf3a ARC: change return value of userspace cmpxchg assist syscall
The original syscall only used to return errno to indicate if cmpxchg
succeeded. It was not returning the "previous" value which typical cmpxchg
callers are interested in to build their slowpaths or retry loops.
Given user preemption in syscall return path etc, it is not wise to
check this in userspace afterwards, but should be what kernel actually
observed in the syscall.

So change the syscall interface to always return the previous value and
additionally set Z flag to indicate whether operation succeeded or not
(just like ARM implementation when they used to have this syscall)
The flag approach avoids having to put_user errno which is nice given
the use case for this syscall cares mostly about the "previous" value.

Alexey Brodkin a79a812131 arc: Implement arch-specific dma_map_ops.mmap
We used to use generic implementation of dma_map_ops.mmap which is
dma_common_mmap() but that only worked for simpler cached mappings when
vaddr = paddr.

If a driver requests uncached DMA buffer kernel maps it to virtual
address so that MMU gets involved and page uncached status takes into
account. In that case usage of dma_common_mmap() lead to mapping of
vaddr to vaddr for user-space which is obviously wrong. For more detals
please refer to verbose explanation here [1].

So here we implement our own version of mmap() which always deals
with dma_addr and maps underlying memory to user-space properly
(note that DMA buffer mapped to user-space is always uncached
because there's no way to properly manage cache from user-space).

This is done without checking if this mask is already being set.
At platform of eznps this mask is already being initialized at

Vineet Gupta d975cbc8ac ARC: boot log: refactor cpu name/release printing
The motivation is to identify ARC750 vs. ARC770 (we currently print
generic "ARC700").

A given ARC700 release could be 750 or 770, with same ARCNUM (or family
identifier which is unfortunate). The existing arc_cpu_tbl[] kept a single
concatenated string for core name and release which thus doesn't work
for 750 vs. 770 identification.

So split this into 2 tables, one with core names and other with release.
And while we are at it, get rid of the range checking for family numbers.
We just document the known to exist cores running Linux and ditch
others.

With this in place, we add detection of ARC750 which is
 - cores 0x33 and before
 - cores 0x34 and later with MMUv2

Vineet Gupta 73e284d257 ARC: boot log: refactor printing abt features not captured in BCRs
On older arc700 cores, some of the features configured were not present
in Build config registers. To print about them at boot, we just use the
Kconfig option i.e. whether linux is built to use them or not.
So yes this seems bogus, but what else can be done. Moreover if linux is
booting with these enabled, then the Kconfig info is a good indicator
anyways.

Over time these "hacks" accumulated in read_arc_build_cfg_regs() as well
as arc_cpu_mumbojumbo(). so refactor and move all of those in a single
place: read_arc_build_cfg_regs(). This causes some code redcution too:

if user disables IOC from debugger at startup (by clearing @ioc_enable),
@ioc_exists is cleared too. This means boot prints don't capture the
fact that IOC was present but disabled which could be misleading.

So invert how we use @ioc_enable and @ioc_exists and make it more
canonical. @ioc_exists represent whether hardware is present or not and
stays same whether enabled or not. @ioc_enable is still user driven,
but will be auto-disabled if IOC hardware is not present, i.e. if
@ioc_exist=0. This is opposite to what we were doing before, but much
clearer.

This means @ioc_enable is now the "exported" toggle in rest of code such
as dma mapping API.

This requires breaking mcip.c into parts which are strictly SMP

messages for cpus that are idling when they are interrupted and just
emit one line, "NMI backtrace for N skipped: idling at pc 0xNNN".

We do this by grouping all the cpuidle code together into a new
.cpuidle.text section, and then checking the address of the interrupted
PC to see if it lies within that section.

This commit suitably tags x86 and tile idle routines, and only adds in
the minimal framework for other architectures.

Vineet Gupta cd5d38b052 ARCv2: fix local_save_flags
Commit d9676fa152 ("ARCv2: Enable LOCKDEP"), changed
local_save_flags() to not return raw STATUS32 but encoded in the form
such that it could be fed directly to CLRI/SETI instructions.
However the STATUS32.E[] was not captured correctly as it corresponds to
bits [4:1] in the register and not [3:0]

Yuriy Kolerov bc0c7ece61 ARCv2: intc: Use kflag if STATUS32.IE must be reset
In the end of "arc_init_IRQ" STATUS32.IE flag is going to be affected by

instruction must be used instead of "flag".

Vineet Gupta 99a2ca65d5 ARC: .exit.* sections can be discarded in .eh_frame regime
We used to keep the .exit.* sections as linker would fail in final link
due to references from .debug_frame which itself could not be discardrd
due to the forced "write, alloc" attributes for it.

| LD init/built-in.o
| `.exit.text' referenced in section `.debug_frame' of arch/arc/built-in.o: defined in discarded section `.exit.text' of arch/arc/built-in.o
| Makefile:949: recipe for target 'vmlinux' failed

With .debug_frame now retired, this hack is no longer needed.
kernel binary is now a little bit smaller as well.

Vineet Gupta 86effd0dc6 ARC: dw2 unwind: enable cfi pseudo ops in string lib
This uses a new set of annoations viz. ENTRY_CFI/END_CFI to enabel cfi
ops generation.

Note that we didn't change the normal ENTRY/EXIT as we don't actually
want unwind info in the trap/exception/interrutp handlers which use
these, as unwinder then gets confused (it keeps recursing vs. stopping).
Semantically these are leaf routines and unwinding should stop when it
hits those routines.

Vineet Gupta 5a205a32ff ARC: dw2 unwind: add infrastructure for adding cfi pseudo ops to asm
1. detect whether binutils supports the cfi pseudo ops
2. define conditional macros to generate the ops
3. define new ENTRY_CFI/END_CFI to annotate hand asm code.
   - Needed because we don't want to emit dwarf info in general ENTRY/END
used by lowest level trap/exception/interrutp handlers as unwinder
gets confused trying to unwind out of them. We want unwinder to
instead stop when it hits onfo those routines
   - These provide minimal start/end cfi ops assuming routine doesn't
     touch stack memory/regs

Vineet Gupta 2d04864247 ARC: dw2 unwind: don't force dwarf 2
In .debug_frame based unwinding regime, we used to force -gdwarf-2 since
kernel unwinder only claimed to handle dwarf 2. This changed since commit
6d0d506012 ("ARC: dw2 unwind: Don't bail for CIE.version != 1")
which added some support beyond dwarf 2, atleast to handle CIE != 1

The ill-effect of -gdwarf-2 is that it forces generation of .debug_*
sections, which bloats loadable modules .ko files. For the curious, this
doesn't affect vmlinx binary since linker script discards .debug_* but
same discard is not yet implemented for modules.

So it seems we can drop the -gdwarf-2 toggle, which should not be needed
anyways given that we now use .eh_frame based unwinding.

I've verified using GNU 2016.09-engo10 that the actual unwind info is
not different with or w/o this toggle - but the debug_* sections are
gone for good.

Vineet Gupta 6716dbbdef ARC: dw2 unwind: switch to .eh_frame based unwinding
So finally after almost 8 years of dealing with .debug_frame, we are
finally switching to .eh_frame. The reason being stripped kernel
binaries had non-functional unwinder as .debug_frame was gone.
Also, in general .eh_frame seems more common way of doing unwinding.

This also folds a revert of f52e126cc7 ("ARC: unwind: ensure that
.debug_frame is generated (vs. .eh_frame)") to ensure that we start
getting .eh_frame

Alexey Brodkin e0d5321fac arc: perf: Enable generic "cache-references" and "cache-misses" events
We used to live with PERF_COUNT_HW_CACHE_REFERENCES and
PERF_COUNT_HW_CACHE_REFERENCES not specified on ARC.

Those events are actually aliases to 2 cache events that we do support
and so this change sets "cache-reference" and "cache-misses" events
in the same way as "L1-dcache-loads" and L1-dcache-load-misses.

And while at it adding debug info for cache events as well as doing a
subtle fix in HW events debug info - config value is much better
represented by hex so we may see not only event index but as well other
control bits set (if they exist).

| ../include/linux/pfn_t.h:78:2: error: conversion to non-scalar type requested
|  return pfn_pte(pfn_t_to_pfn(pfn), pgprot);

With STRICT_MM_TYPECHECKS pte_t is a struct and the offending code
forces a cast which ends up shifting a struct and hence the gcc warning.

Note that in recent past some of the arches (aarch64, s390) made
STRICT_MM_TYPECHECKS default, but we don't for ARC as this leads to slightly
worse generated code, given ARC ABI definition of returning structs
(which pte_t would become)

Quoting from ARC ABI...

"Results of type struct are returned in a caller-supplied temporary
variable whose address is passed in r0.
For such functions, the arguments are shifted so that they are
  passed in r1 and up."

So
 - struct to be returned would be allocated on stack requiring extra
   code at call sites
 - callee updates stack memory to facilitate the return (vs. simple
   MOV into return reg r0)

Hence STRICT_MM_TYPECHECKS is not enabled by default for ARC

Vineet Gupta 840c054fd0 ARC: Support syscall ABI v4
The syscall ABI includes the gcc functional calling ABI since a syscall
implies userland caller and kernel callee.

The current gcc ABI (v3) for ARCv2 ISA required 64-bit data be passed in
even-odd register pairs, (potentially punching reg holes when passing such
values as args). This was partly driven by the fact that the double-word
LDD/STD instructions in ARCv2 expect the register alignment and thus gcc
forcing this avoids extra MOV at the cost of a few unused register (which we
have plenty anyways).

This however was rejected as part of upstreaming gcc port to HS. So the new
ABI v4 doesn't enforce the even-odd reg restriction.

Do note that for ARCompact ISA builds v3 and v4 are practically the same in
terms of gcc code generation.

In terms of change management, we infer the new ABI if gcc 6.x onwards
is used for building the kernel.

This also needs a stable backport to enable older kernels to work with
new tools/user-space

Liav Rehana 86147e3cfa ARC: use correct offset in pt_regs for saving/restoring user mode r25
User mode callee regs are explicitly collected before signal delivery or
breakpoint trap. r25 is special for kernel as it serves as task pointer,
so user mode value is clobbered very early. It is saved in pt_regs where
generally only scratch (aka caller saved) regs are saved.

The code to access the corresponding pt_regs location had a subtle bug as
it was using load/store with scaling of offset, whereas the offset was already
byte wise correct. So fix this by replacing LD.AS with a standard LD

Krzysztof Kozlowski 00085f1efa dma-mapping: use unsigned long for dma_attrs
The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA
attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data.
However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned
long will do fine:

1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting
attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack
and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits.

2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the
   attributes are passed by value.

Vineet Gupta 3925a16ae9 ARC: mm: don't loose PTE_SPECIAL in pte_modify()
LTP madvise05 was generating mm splat

| [ARCLinux]# /sd/ltp/testcases/bin/madvise05
| BUG: Bad page map in process madvise05 pte:80e08211 pmd:9f7d4000
| page:9fdcfc90 count:1 mapcount:-1 mapping: (null) index:0x0 flags: 0x404(referenced|reserved)

| CPU: 2 PID: 6707 Comm: madvise05

And for newer kernels, the system was rendered unusable afterwards.

The problem was mprotect->pte_modify() clearing PTE_SPECIAL (which is
set to identify the special zero page wired to the pte).
When pte was finally unmapped, special casing for zero page was not
done, and instead it was treated as a "normal" page, tripping on the
map counts etc.

Linus Torvalds 6e8d666e92 Disable "maybe-uninitialized" warning globally
Several build configurations had already disabled this warning because
it generates a lot of false positives. But some had not, and it was
still enabled for "allmodconfig" builds, for example.

Looking at the warnings produced, every single one I looked at was a
false positive, and the warnings are frequent enough (and big enough)
that they can easily hide real problems that you don't notice in the
noise generated by -Wmaybe-uninitialized.

The warning is good in theory, but this is a classic case of a warning
that causes more problems than the warning can solve.

If gcc gets better at avoiding false positives, we may be able to
re-enable this warning. But as is, we're better off without it, and I
want to be able to see the *real* warnings.

Daniel Lezcano 177cf6e52b clocksources: Switch back to the clksrc table
All the clocksource drivers's init function are now converted to return
an error code. CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE is no longer used as well as the
clksrc-of table.

Let's convert back the names:
 - CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE_RET => CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE
 - clksrc-of-ret              => clksrc-of
