Sometimes the firmware sends a dummy packet event while we are in PLT
mode. This doesn't make sense, it's a firmware bug. Fix this by
ignoring dummy packet events when we're PLT mode.

Fix a potential memory leak in function rsi_set_channel() that is used to
program channel changes. The channel check block for the frequency bands
directly exits the function in case of an error, thus leaving an already
allocated skb unreferenced. Move the checks above allocating the skb.

In the EEH error recovery path, when a permanent failure occurs,
we clean up adapter structure (i.e. destroy queues etc) by calling
be_clear() and return PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT.
After this the stack tries to remove device from bus and calls
be_remove() which invokes netdev_unregister()->be_close().
be_close() operating on destroyed queues results in a
NULL dereference.
This patch fixes this problem by introducing a flag to keep track
of the setup state.

be_close() currently waits for a max of 200ms to receive all pending
TX compls. This timeout value was roughly calculated based on 10G
transmission speeds and the TX queue depth. This timeout may not be
enough when the link is operating at lower speeds or in multi-channel/SR-IOV
configs with TX-rate limiting setting.
It is hard to calculate a "proper timeout value" that works in all
configurations. This patch solves this problem by continuing to reap
TX completions till the HW is completely silent for a period of 10ms or
a HW error is detected.
v2: implements the new scheme (as suggested by David Laight) instead of
just waiting longer than 200ms for reaping all completions.

Fix in commit [1] is not sufficient since a deferred VF initialization
could happen after pci_enable_sriov() is finished, but before the PF is
fully initialized.
Need to prevent VFs from initializing till the PF is fully ready and
comm channel is operational.

This reverts commit e3a8786c10. While
this commit allows to use the mvneta driver as a module on some
configurations, it breaks other configurations even if mvneta is used
built-in.
This breakage is due to the fact that on some RGMII platforms, the PCS
bit has to be set, and on some other platforms, it has to be
cleared. At the moment, we lack informations to know exactly the
significance of this bit (the datasheet only says "enables PCS"), and
so we can't produce a patch that will work on all platforms at this
point. And since this change is breaking the network completely for
many users, it's much better to revert it for now. We'll come back
later with a proper fix that takes into account all platforms.
Basically:
* Armada XP GP is configured as RGMII-ID, and needs the PCS bit to be
set.
* Armada 370 Mirabox is configured as RGMII-ID, and needs the PCS bit
to be cleared.
And at the moment, we don't know how to make the distinction between
those two cases. One hint is that the Armada XP GP appears in fact to
be using a QSGMII connection with the PHY (Quad-SGMII), but
configuring it as SGMII doesn't work, while RGMII-ID works. This needs
more investigation, but in the mean time, let's unbreak the network
for all those users.

pci_match_id() just match the static pci_device_id, which may return NULL if
someone binds the driver to a device manually using
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/.../new_id.
This patch wrap up a helper function __mlx4_remove_one() which does the tear
down function but preserve the drv_data. Functions like
mlx4_pci_err_detected() and mlx4_restart_one() will call this one with out
releasing drvdata.

7000 device series have a fix for this hardware feature.
Stop disabling it, and get an improvement in Tx throughput.
This feature allows the scheduler to fetch more frames on
the fly while an A-MPDU is being built - which means that
we can get larger A-MPDU. This, of course, give an
improvement in the Tx throughput.

declare support for ANY wowlan trigger (i.e.
normal operation).
On resume, we shouldn't execute the d0i3 exit
flow (which might disconnect stations, etc.)
until mac80211 was resumed.
Add new flags to indicate we are in suspend,
and call the pending exit work on resume.
Since the resume flow can take some time, add
a new EXIT_WORK reference type to prevent going
back to d0i3 at this stage.

This patch enables Energy Based Scan (EBS) - intended to detect energy
on 5 GHz band channels. Passive scan on this band takes up to 2.64 sec
assuming 110mSec per-channel * 24 channels. EBS is designed to detect
energy on channels with intensive Wifi activity as well as those where
only beacons are transmitted. EBS completes sampling all channels within
shortest beacon frame transmission time. Total EBS duration is about 100
msec (typical beacon interval).
Detecting Wifi activity on 5 GHz band channels can significantly reduce
scan duration thus saving time and power. EBS failure reported by FW
disables EBS for current connection. It is re-enabled upon new
connection attempt on any WLAN interface.

The per rate stats should be cleared when aggregation state changes
to avoid making rate scale decisions based on throughput figures which
were collected prior to the aggregation state change and are now stale.
While at it make sure any clearing of the per rate stats will get logged.

Allow switching back to legacy Tx columns so we'll stop doing
HT/VHT in case we're far from the AP. Stop active aggregation when
making a deciding to stay in a legacy column.
Despite having low legacy rates in the LQ table lower entries
it doesn't help much in case we're doing aggregations as the
aggregation was being transmitted in the initial rate of the table.
This should help traffic stalls when far from the AP.

After being idle for a long time (>5sec) the rs statistics
will be stale so we prefer to reset rs and start from legacy
rates again. This gives better results when the attenuation
increased signficantly (e.g. we got further from the AP) and
after a while we start Tx
Note that the first Tx after the idle period will still go out
in the old modulation and rate but this seemed a simpler approach
compared to adding a timer or modifying mac80211 for this.
The negative impact is negligble as we'll recover quickly.

Change the down/upscale decision logic a bit to be based
on different success ratio thresholds. This fixes the implementation
compared to the rate scale algorithm which was planned to yield
optimal results. Also fix a case where a lower rate wasn't explored
despite being a potential for better throughput.
While at it rewrite rs_get_rate_action to be more clear and clean.

The selection of the max expected throughput for a column
didn't take into account the maximal allowed rate for the current
peer. This can cause unnecessary switches during the search cycle
to columns which have no chance of beating the current throughput.

rcu_assign_pointer() ensures that the initialization of a structure is
carried out before storing a pointer to that structure. However, in the
case that NULL is assigned there's no structure to initialize so using
RCU_INIT_POINTER instead is safe and more efficient.

When NIC is exiting from thermal throttling state (i.e. after
heating and then cooling down), tx-backoff values are assigned

The Rx FIFO includes valuable data - dump it when the FW
asserts. Also - free the SRAM and Rx FIFO when we create
the file, and don't collect new SRAM / Rx FIFO if the
previous file hasn't been collected through debugfs yet.
Also - add a comment to saying that the ASSERT output should
not be modified since we have automatic scripts that monitor
this output.

Now that mac80211 calls pre_rcu_remove and we set the
fw_id_to_mac_id pointer to -ENOENT before the station is
removed, we don't need to set fw_id_to_mac_id to -EINVAL
when the station is really removed.
Leave fw_id_to_mac_id to be -ENOENT which will let the
drain worker (iwl_mvm_sta_drained_wk) know that this station
is not to be drained.
We don't need to drain this station since it is our AP in
managed mode and we flush all its frames synchronously
anyway.
Setting the AP station to -EINVAL could lead to confusion
since internal stations are also reserved with -EINVAL,
this confusion showed up in the logs as:
Drained sta 0, but it is internal?

When shadow registers are enabled, then need_update never needs
to be set, so move the need_update handling into the function
that really needs to do it (iwl_pcie_rxq_inc_wr_ptr) and also
separate the check when it woke up. While at it, convert it to
bool.
This also clarifies the locking and means the irq_lock needs to
no longer be held for any such updates.
The irq_lock also doesn't have to be held for restocking since
everything else locks the RX queue properly, so remove that and
finally disentangle the two locks entirely so there aren't any
dependencies between the two left.

Use the new NAPI infrastructure added to mac80211 to get
GRO. We don't really implement NAPI since we don't have
a real poll function and we never schedule a NAPI poll.
Instead of this, we collect all the packets we got from a
single interrupt and then call napi_gro_flush().
This allows us to benefit from GRO. In half duplex medium
like WiFi, its main advantage is that it reduces the number
of TCP Acks, hence improving the TCP Rx performance.
Since we call the Rx path with a spinlock held, remove
the might_sleep mention from the op_mode's API.

mimo_delim was always set to 0 instead of pointing to
the first SISO entry after MIMO rates.
This can cause keep transmitting in MIMO even when we shouldn't.
For example when the peer is requesting static SMPS.

If we have no beacon data before association, delay smart FIFO
enablement until after we have this data.
Not doing so can cause association failures in extremely silent
environments (usually only a shielded box/room) as beacon RX is
not sent to the host immediately, and then the association time
event ends without the host receiving any beacon even though it
was on the air - it's just stuck on the FIFO.

3) UFO and TSO packets differ in whether they include the protocol
header in gso_size, account for that in skb_gso_transport_seglen().

4) If VLAN untagging fails, we double free the SKB in the bridging

5) Several call sites of sk->sk_data_ready() were referencing an SKB
just added to the socket receive queue in order to calculate the
second argument via skb->len. This is dangerous because the moment
the skb is added to the receive queue it can be consumed in another
context and freed up.
It turns out also that none of the sk->sk_data_ready()
implementations even care about this second argument.
So just kill it off and thus fix all these use-after-free bugs as a
side effect.
6) Fix inverted test in tcp_v6_send_response(), from Lorenzo Colitti.

Mark fixes an issue with ixgbe and ixgbevf by adding a bit to indicate
when workqueues have been initialized. This permits the register read
error handling from attempting to use them prior to that, which also
generates warnings. Checking for a detected removal after initializing
the work queues allows the probe function to return an error without
getting the workqueue involved. Further, if the error_detected
callback is entered before the workqueues are initialized, exit without
recovery since the device initialization was so truncated.
Francois Romieu provides several patches to all the drivers to remove
the open coded skb_cow_head.
Jakub Kicinski provides a fix for igb where last_rx_timestamp should be
updated only when Rx time stamp is read.
Mitch provides a fix for i40evf where a recent change broke the RSS LUT
programming causing it to be programmed with all 0's.

When the device is unplugged, the driver would try to disable the
device. Add checking the flag of RTL8152_UNPLUG to skip setting
the device when it is unplugged. This could shorten the time of
unloading the driver.

The sun4i-emac driver is rather primitive, and doesn't support
promiscuous mode. This makes usage such as bridging impossible,
which is a shame on virtualization capable HW such as the
Allwinner A20.
The fix is fairly simple: move the RX setup code to the ndo_set_rx_mode
vector, and add the required HW configuration when IFF_PROMISC is passed
by the core code.
This has been tested on a generic A20 box running a few virtual
machines hanging off a bridge with the EMAC chip as the link to the
outside world.

When the Ethernet interface is put down and up with heavy Ethernet
traffic, then there is prossibility of an interrupt waiting in irq
controller to be processed, so when the interface is brought up again
just after enable interrupt, it goes to ISR due to the previous
unhandled interrutp and in ISR napi is not scheduled as the napi
is not enabled in ndo_open which results in disabled interrupt for
CPSW and no packets are received in cpsw. So this patch moves enabling
of interupts after napi_enable and clearing CPDMA interrupts.

When the Ethernet interface is brought down during high Ethernet traffic,
then cpsw creates the following warn dump. When cpdma has already processed
the packet then the status will be greater than 0, so the cpsw_rx_handler
considers that the interface is up and try to resubmit one more rx buffer
to cpdma which fails as the DMA is in teardown process. This can be avoided
by checking the interface state and then process the received packet, if the
interface is down just discard and free the skb and return.

ws2008r2 does not support UDP checksum offload. Thus, we cannnot turn on
UDP offload in the host. Also, on ws2012 and ws2012 r2, there appear to be
an issue with UDP checksum offload.
Fix this issue by computing the UDP checksum in the Hyper-V driver.
Based on Dave Miller's comments, in this version, I have COWed the skb
before modifying the UDP header (the checksum field).

A recent change broke the RSS LUT programming, causing it to be
programmed with all 0. Correct this by actually assigning the
incremented value back to the counter variable so that the increment
will be remembered by the calling function.
While we're at it, add a proper kernel-doc function comment to our
helper function.

name of invoked function and contain no new line character
at the end. Remove them as equivalent information can be

An indication of work queue initialization is needed. This is
because register accesses prior to that time can detect a removal
and attempt to schedule the watchdog task. Adding the
__IXGBEVF_WORK_INIT bit allows this to be checked and if not
set prevent the watchdog task scheduling. By checking for a
removal right after initialization, the probe can be failed
at that point without getting the watchdog task involved.

If 20MHz CAC completed successfully then
subsequent CAC with wider bandwidth (40Mhz, 80Mhz)
with identical control frequency did not start
monitor vdev making it impossible to detect any
radar pulses during intended CAC.
It also was incorrect to assume ath10k_config() will
be called after CAC is finished. Theoretically for
non-HT channels nothing changes between CAC and
start_ap() (albeit in practice this can be
different). The incorrect assumption led to CAC
not being stopped on non-HT chandefs leading to
all Rx being drooped making it impossible for
clients to associate.
While at it clean up the code a bit.

Dual EMAC works with VLAN segregation of the ports, so default vlan needs
to be added in dual EMAC case else default vlan will be tagged for all
egress packets and vlan unaware switches/servers will drop packets
from the EVM.

There are references to four undefined Kconfig macros in the code.
Commit 8542373dcc ("Staging: rtl8812ae: remove undefined Kconfig
macros") removed identical references from that staging driver, but
they resurfaced in rtlwifi. Remove these again as the checks for them

The fw recently added an option to set tx power reduction
per station (in the lq_cmd command), and get the tx power
reduction used (in the tx_resp struct).
Use them and propogate this value up to mac80211's tx
response (in order to use it later in the rate-scaling
algorithm).

It was possible to create/delete/start/stop
monitor vdev from a few places that were not
exclusively protected against each other. This
resulted in monitor vdev being stopped/removed by
one call origin while another one was expecting it
to continue running.
For example if CAC was started and interface's
promiscuous mode was toggled monitor vdev was
removed from the driver meaning no radar would be
detected. In additional a warning would be printed
upon CAC completion complaining it tried to stop
non-running monitor vdev.

If the renamed symbol is defined lib/iomap.c implements ioport_map and
ioport_unmap and currently (nearly) all platforms define the port
accessor functions outb/inb and friend unconditionally. So
HAS_IOPORT_MAP is the better name for this.
Consequently NO_IOPORT is renamed to NO_IOPORT_MAP.
The motivation for this change is to reintroduce a symbol HAS_IOPORT
that signals if outb/int et al are available. I will address that at
least one merge window later though to keep surprises to a minimum and
catch new introductions of (HAS|NO)_IOPORT.

This patch removes an artificial RapidIO bus root device and establishes
actual device hierarchy by providing reference to real parent devices.
It also introduces device class for RapidIO controller devices (on-chip
or an eternal bridge, known as "mport").
Existing implementation was sufficient for SoC-based platforms that have
a single RapidIO controller. With introduction of devices using
multiple RapidIO controllers and PCIe-to-RapidIO bridges the old scheme
is very limiting or does not work at all. The implemented changes allow
to properly reference platform's local RapidIO mport devices and provide
device details needed for upper layers.
This change to RapidIO device hierarchy does not break any known
existing kernel or user space interfaces.

The at91_ether driver calls macb_mii_init passing a 'struct macb'
structure whose tx_clk member is initialized to 0. However,
macb_handle_link_change() expects tx_clk to be the result of
a call to clk_get, and so IS_ERR(tx_clk) to be true if the clock
is invalid. This causes an oops when booting Linux 3.14 on the
csb637 board. The following changes avoids this.

If list_for_each_entry exits without finding the ntb_device, the dev
pointer will not be NULL. Thus the check will never be true and the
code will not exit when it should. Correct this by adding a bool to
determine when the device is found, otherwise exit in good fashion.

The commit 1edb9ca69e ("net: sxgbe: add basic framework for
Samsung 10Gb ethernet driver") added support for Samsung 10Gb
ethernet driver(sxgbe) with a minor issue of including linux/io.h
header twice in sxgbe_dma.c file. Fix the duplicate #include by
deleting the top one so that all the rest good #include headers
would be preserved in the alphabetical order.

A hardware bug had been discovered on 7260 / 3160 and 7265
and the workaround for this bug is to force the NIC to stay
awake as long as we have host commands in flight. This
workaround has been introduced for all NICs in a previous
patch:
b943949105 ("iwlwifi: pcie: keep the NIC awake when commands are in flight")
In newer NICs, this bug is solved, so we can let the NIC go
to sleep even when we send commands. The hardware will wake
up when we increment the scheduler write pointer.
Make the workaround conditional to only use it on affected
hardware.

Today, the driver logic looks for the conditions to disable
power management albeit power management should be enabled
in a very few distinct cases.
This patch changes the driver logic to enable power
management once the required conditions met.
While at it, make some housekeeping and support a few
additional use cases:
a) Add support for a standalone p2p client:
Power management should be enabled for a P2P client
MAC only if the firmware supports it (TLV flag is set).
Instead we used the DCM flag, therefore we didn't cover
use cases that did not include the DCM flag.
b) Add support to Same-Channel-Mode (SCM):
If both clients share the same channel (SCM), and there
are no other active vifs in the system, power management
should be enabled only if the firmware supports this
(TLV flag is set).
c) Fix power management logic for GO/AP:
Today, when we detect an active GO / AP MAC - we disable
power management for all the vifs altogether.
Actually, the correct behavior is to enable power
management on a client if on a different channel
(based on the firmware capabilities).
d) Housekeeping - Along with that, this patch includes some
code-reorganizing: Today the logic of disabling power is
scattered across several functions, specifically in the
iterator. For the sake of both readability and
scalability, we moved this logic to its applicable
function, leaving the iterator gather information only.
Furthermore, as power management is a MAC-related
attribute, we moved the power management member to the
iwl_mvm_vif structure.

bond_open is not setting the inactive flag correctly for some modes (alb and
tlb), resulting in error behavior if the bond has been administratively set
down and then back up. This effect should not occur when slaves are added while
the bond is up; it's something that only happens after a down/up bounce of the
bond.
For example, in bond tlb or alb mode, domu send some ARP request which go out
from dom0 bond's active slave, then the ARP broadcast request packets go back to
inactive slave from switch, because the inactive slave's inactive flag is zero,
kernel will receive the packets and pass them to bridge that cause dom0's bridge
map domu's MAC address to port of bond, bridge should map domu's MAC to port of
vif.

An old inefficiency of the TX path that we are grant mapping the first slot,
and then copy the header part to the linear area. Instead, doing a grant copy
for that header straight on is more reasonable. Especially because there are
ongoing efforts to make Xen avoiding TLB flush after unmap when the page were
not touched in Dom0. In the original way the memcpy ruined that.
The key changes:
- the vif has a tx_copy_ops array again
- xenvif_tx_build_gops sets up the grant copy operations
- we don't have to figure out whether the header and first frag are on the same
grant mapped page or not
Note, we only grant copy PKT_PROT_LEN bytes from the first slot, the rest (if
any) will be on the first frag, which is grant mapped. If the first slot is
smaller than PKT_PROT_LEN, then we grant copy that, and later __pskb_pull_tail
will pull more from the frags (if any)

checking. Thomas Gleixner contributes 12 patches, which address several

Commit 2b3d7b758c687("qlcnic: Add VXLAN Rx offload support") uses
vxlan_get_rx_port() which caused build failure when VXLAN=m.
This patch fixes the build failure by adding dependency on VXLAN
in Kconfig of qlcnic module and use vxlan_get_rx_port() and support
code accordingly.

This commit fixes a build error reported by Fengguang, that is
triggered when CONFIG_NETWORK_PHY_TIMESTAMPING is not set:
ERROR: "ptp_classify_raw" [drivers/net/ethernet/oki-semi/pch_gbe/pch_gbe.ko] undefined!
The fix is to introduce its own file for the PTP BPF classifier,
so that PTP_1588_CLOCK and/or NETWORK_PHY_TIMESTAMPING can select
it independently from each other. IXP4xx driver on ARM needs to
select it as well since it does not seem to select PTP_1588_CLOCK
or similar that would pull it in automatically.
This also allows for hiding all of the internals of the BPF PTP
program inside that file, and only exporting relevant API bits
to drivers.
This patch also adds a kdoc documentation of ptp_classify_raw()
API to make it clear that it can return PTP_CLASS_* defines. Also,
the BPF program has been translated into bpf_asm code, so that it
can be more easily read and altered (extensively documented in [1]).
In the kernel tree under tools/net/ we have bpf_asm and bpf_dbg
tools, so the commented program can simply be translated via
`./bpf_asm -c prog` where prog is a file that contains the
commented code. This makes it easily readable/verifiable and when
there's a need to change something, jump offsets etc do not need
to be replaced manually which can be very error prone. Instead,
a newly translated version via bpf_asm can simply replace the old
code. I have checked opcode diffs before/after and it's the very
same filter.

When using the "separate_tx_channels=1" module parameter, the TX queues are
initially numbered starting from the first TX-only channel number (after all the
RX-only channels). efx_set_channels() renumbers the queues so that they are
indexed from zero.
On EF10, the TX queues need to be relabelled in this way before calling the
dimension_resources NIC type operation, otherwise the TX queue PIO buffers can be
linked to the wrong VIs when using "separate_tx_channels=1".

When netback discovers frontend is sending malformed packet it will
disables the interface which serves that frontend.
However disabling a network interface involving taking a mutex which
cannot be done in softirq context, so we need to defer this process to
kthread context.
This patch does the following:
1. introduce a flag to indicate the interface is disabled.
2. check that flag in TX path, don't do any work if it's true.
3. check that flag in RX path, turn off that interface if it's true.
The reason to disable it in RX path is because RX uses kthread. After
this change the behavior of netback is still consistent -- it won't do
any TX work for a rogue frontend, and the interface will be eventually
turned off.
Also change a "continue" to "break" after xenvif_fatal_tx_err, as it
doesn't make sense to continue processing packets if frontend is rogue.
This is a fix for XSA-90.

Make sure that vxlan_get_rx_port() is present in the kernel build in a manner
consistent with mlx4, else mlx4 can be made built-in where vxlan a module and
the phase of the build linking fails. Add CONFIG_MLX4_EN_VXLAN for that.
Also, #ifdef the advertizement and implementation of the mlx4 vxlan ndo
calls and related code under this config directive.

Introduce a CONFIG_BE2NET_VXLAN define to control be2net's build
dependency on the VXLAN driver.
Without this fix, the kernel build fails when VxLAN driver is
selected to be built as a module while be2net is built-in.

The function loads the message object from the hardware to get the
payload length. The previous patch stores that information in an
array, so we can avoid the hardware access.
Remove the hardware access and move the led toggle outside of the
spinlocked region. Toggle the led only once when at least one packet
has been received.

We can avoid the HW access in TX cleanup path for retrieving the DLC
of the sent package if we store the DLC in a private array.
Ideally this should be handled in the can_echo_skb functions, but I
leave that exercise to the CAN folks.

commit 4ce78a838c (can: c_can: Speed up rx_poll function) hyped a
performance improvement by reducing the access to the interrupt
pending register from a dual 16 bit to a single 16 bit access. Wow!
Thereby it crippled the driver to cast the 16 msg objects in stone,
which is completly braindead as contemporary hardware has up to 128
message objects. Supporting larger object buffers is a major surgery,
but it'd be definitely worth it especially as the driver does not
support HW message filtering ....
The logic of the "FIFO" implementation is to split the FIFO in half.
For the lower half we read the buffers and clear the interrupt pending
bit, but keep the newdat bit set, so the HW will queue above those
buffers.
When we read out the last low buffer then we reenable all the low half
buffers by clearing the newdat bit.
The upper half buffers clear the newdat and the interrupt pending bit
right away as we know that the lower half bits are clear and give us a
headstart against the hardware.
Now the implementation is:

to a separate function. gcc creates slightly worse code for that, but

xmit related code lets the following happen:

The rx_poll code has the following gem:
if (msg_ctrl_save & IF_MCONT_EOB)
return num_rx_pkts;
The EOB bit is the indicator for the hardware that this is the last
configured FIFO object. But this object can contain valid data, if we
manage to free up objects before the overrun case hits.
Now if the code exits due to the EOB bit set, then this buffer is
stale and the interrupt bit and NewDat bit of the buffer are still
set. Results in a nice interrupt storm unless we come into an overrun
situation where the MSGLST bit gets set.

The amazing thing is that the check of the MSGLST (aka overrun bit)
used to be after the check of the EOB bit. That was "fixed" in commit
5d0f801a2c(can: c_can: Fix RX message handling, handle lost message
before EOB). But the author of this "fix" did not even understand that
the EOB check is broken as well.
Again a simple solution: Remove

The lost message handling is broken in several ways.
1) Clearing the message lost flag is done by writing 0 to the
message control register of the object.
#define IF_MCONT_CLR_MSGLST (0 << 14)
That clears the object buffer configuration in the worst case,
which results in a loss of the EOB flag. That leaves the FIFO chain
without a limit and causes a complete lockup of the HW
2) In case that the error skb allocation fails, the code happily
claims that it handed down a packet. Just an accounting bug, but ....
3) The code adds a lot of pointless overhead to that error case, where
we need to get stuff done as fast as possible to avoid more packet
loss.
- printk an annoying error message
- reread the object buffer for nothing
Fix is simple again:
- Use the already known MSGCTRL content and only clear the MSGLST bit
- Fix the buffer accounting by adding a proper return code
- Remove the pointless operations

The buffer handling of c_can has been broken forever. That leads to
message reordering:

What happens is:

queue new packet into obj 16 (0-15 are busy)
read obj 1-15
return because pending is 0
set pending obj 16 -> pending reg 8000
queue new packet into obj 1
set pending obj 1 -> pending reg 8001
So the current algorithmus reads the newest message first, which
violates the ordering rules of CAN.
Add proper handling of that situation by analyzing the contents of the
pending register for gaps.
This does NOT fix the message object corruption which can lead to
interrupt storms. Thats addressed in the next patches.

The hardware has two message control interfaces, but the code only uses the
first one. So on SMP the following can be observed:
CPU0 CPU1
rx_poll()
write IF1 xmit()
write IF1
write IF1
That results in corrupted message object configurations. The TX/RX is not
globally serialized it's only serialized on a core.
Simple solution: Let RX use IF1 and TX use IF2 and all is good.

The function is broken in several ways:
- The function does not wait for the init to complete.
That can take quite some microseconds.
- No protection against being called for two chips at the same
time. SMP is such a new thing, right?
Clear the start and the init done bit unconditionally and wait for both bits to
be clear.
In the enable path set the init bit and wait for the init done bit.
Add proper locking.

error handling the urb wasn't freed before returning. There was also a call to
the usb_unanchor_urb() function but the urb wasn't anchored.

ixgbe_down, so hold the lock. Also avoid disabling the device
when it is already disabled. This check is necessary because the
callback can be called more than once in some cases.

The commit 6494294f27 ("i40e/i40evf: Use
dma_set_mask_and_coherent") uses dma_set_mask_and_coherent() to
replace dma_set_coherent_mask() for the benefit of return error.
The conversion brings some confusion in error checking as whether
against DMA_BIT_MASK(64) or DMA_BIT_MASK(32). For one, if error is
zero, the check will be against DMA_BIT_MASK(64) twice. Fix this
error checking by binding the check to the pertinent one.

The commit c97506ab0e ("ixgbe: Add check for FW veto bit")
introduced the new function ixgbe_check_reset_blocked() with a minor
issue in declaration. Fix the declaration by changing the type
specifier to bool as the definition returns a boolean value.
Additionally all ixgbe_check_reset_blocked() callers are expected to
return a boolean value.

ixgbe has a single set of TX time stamping resources per NIC.
Use a simple bit lock to avoid race conditions and leaking skbs
when multiple TX rings try to claim time stamping.

skb_tx_timestamp() does not report software time stamp
if SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS is set. According to timestamping.txt
software time stamps are a fallback and should not be
generated if hardware time stamp is provided.
Move call to skb_tx_timestamp() after setting
SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS.

In commit da1e2046e5, the flow for enabling/disabling an Si errata
workaround (e1000_lv_jumbo_workaround_ich8lan) was changed to fix a problem
with iAMT connections dropping on interface down with jumbo frames set.
Part of this change was to move the function call disabling the workaround
to e1000e_down() from the e1000_setup_rctl() function. The mechanic for
disabling of this workaround involves writing several MAC and PHY registers
back to hardware defaults.
After this commit, when the driver is loaded with the cable out, the PHY
registers are not programmed with the correct default values. This causes
the device to be capable of transmitting packets, but is unable to recieve
them until this workaround is called.
The flow of e1000e's open code relies upon calling the above workaround to
expicitly program these registers either with jumbo frame appropriate settings
or h/w defaults on 82579 and newer hardware.
Fix this issue by adding logic to e1000_setup_rctl() that not only calls
e1000_lv_jumbo_workaround_ich8lan() when jumbo frames are set, to enable the
workaround, but also calls this function to explicitly disable the workaround
in the case that jumbo frames are not set.

"PREPARE_[DELAYED_]WORK() were used to change the work function of work
items without fully reinitializing it; however, this makes workqueue
consider the work item as a different one from before and allows the
work item to start executing before the previous instance is finished
which can lead to extremely subtle issues which are painful to debug.
The interface has never been popular. This pull request contains
patches to remove existing usages and kill the interface. As one of
the changes was routed during the last devel cycle and another
depended on a pending change in nvme, for-3.15 contains a couple merge
commits.

The problem is there are still interrupts after deregister ieee802154
device. This patch mask all interrupts in the at86rf2xx chips before
deregister the device.

Though we made sure to acquire a valid MAC for
the netdevice we never actually programmed it
into the hardware.
So if the bootloader did not set the MAC,
network operation would only work if userspace
explicitly asked to transfer the MAC to hardware.

This device provides QMI and ethernet functionality via a standard CDC
ethernet descriptor. But when driven by cdc_ether, the QMI
functionality is unavailable because only cdc_ether can claim the USB
interface. Thus blacklist the device in cdc_ether and add its IDs to
qmi_wwan, which enables both QMI and ethernet simultaneously.

If allocation of io_dmabuf fails, rtl8187_probe() calls usb_put_dev(udev)
while usb_get_dev(udev) is not called yet. As a result refcnt is decremented
incorrectly and usb_dev can be used after memory deallocation.
Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org).

In rtl8180/rtl8185/rtl8187se the register space is represented
using packed structure type. Register are thus accessed using a
pointer of this type.
All registers are packed toghether, and only small gaps are present.
However Rtl8187se has also some "sparse" registers, very far from
the "main register block".
It could be possible to access them by simply declare huge reserved
blocks inside the register struct (and this causes NO memory waste).
However, for various reasons, access to those "far" registers is
done with special dedicated macros, without declaring them in the
register struct.
This is done in an intricate manner, that makes code less readable
and caused static analisys tool to produce warnings.
This patch keeps the "macro" mechanism, but it changes its
implementation in a simplier and more straightforward way.

ANAPARAM3 register, defined in the rtl818x common register
struct, is accessed as 16bit by rtl8187se and as 8bit by rtl8187b.
Since I have no documentation about this, I can only stick to
the reference code and to what is known to work.
This issue has been addressed by a patch from Larry Finger
that introduces an "union", in the register struct.
In my last patch-set I applied it on the register struct, but
I forget to update rtl8187 driver too.
This patch does it.

Some HP notebooks using this rtl8188ee hardware module can't get
AP scan results with pin-based interrupts mode, enabling MSI interrupts
mode could fix it.
As RealTek's testing results, RTL8188EE works well with both MSI mode
and pin-based mode fallback.

Add MSI interrupts mode support, enable it when submodules' msi_support
flag is true, also could fallback to pin-based interrupts mode if MSI
interrupts mode fails.
RealTek's policy(on modules which work well with MSI interrupts mode) is:
> If the platform supports both MSI and pin-based, use MSI.
> If the platform supports MSI only, use MSI.
> If the platform supports pin-based only, use pin-based.
Also as RealTek's testing results, RTL8188EE and RTL8723BE work well
with both MSI mode and pin-based mode fallback.

It has been observed that system hangs during suspend, if host
sleep activation fails due to a missing interrupt from firmware.
Use timeout variant, so that the thread will be woken up when
timer expires.

When a thread is interrupted by signal, all
wait_event_interruptible calls after queueing commands return
an error. Numbers of commands in pending queue are increased
in this case. Sometimes all commands nodes in pool are filled.
We will cancel pending commands when signal is received.

When scan request is received, scan commands are prepared and
queued into scan pending queue. There is a corner case when
command nodes are full. So we stop queueing further scan
commands and return an error. This patch makes sure that
currently queued commands in scan pending queue are also freed
in this case.

For the ppp driver, there are currently two open-coded BPF filters in use,
that is, pass_filter and active_filter. Migrate both to make proper use
of sk_unattached_filter_{create,destroy} API so that the actual BPF code
is decoupled from direct access, and filters can be jited as a side-effect
by the internal filter compiler.

There are currently pch_gbe, cpts, and ixp4xx_eth drivers that open-code
and reimplement a BPF classifier for the PTP protocol. Since all of them
effectively do the very same thing and load the very same PTP/BPF filter,
we can just consolidate that code by introducing ptp_classify_raw() in
the time-stamping core framework which can be used in drivers.
As drivers get initialized after bootstrapping the core networking
subsystem, they can make use of ptp_insns wrapped through
ptp_classify_raw(), which allows to simplify and remove PTP classifier
setup code in drivers.

The BUG_ON to catch ring overflow in xenvif_rx_action() makes the assumption
that meta_slots_used == ring slots used. This is not necessarily the case
for GSO packets, because the non-prefix GSO protocol consumes one more ring
slot than meta-slot for the 'extra_info'. This patch changes the test to
actually check ring slots.

The worse-case estimate for skb ring slot usage in xenvif_rx_action()
fails to take fragment page_offset into account. The page_offset does,
however, affect the number of times the fragmentation code calls
start_new_rx_buffer() (i.e. consume another slot) and the worse-case
should assume that will always return true. This patch adds the page_offset
into the DIV_ROUND_UP for each frag.
Unfortunately some frontends aggressively limit the number of requests
they post into the shared ring so to avoid an estimate that is 'too'
pessimal it is capped at MAX_SKB_FRAGS.

This patch removes a test in start_new_rx_buffer() that checks whether
a copy operation is less than MAX_BUFFER_OFFSET in length, since
MAX_BUFFER_OFFSET is defined to be PAGE_SIZE and the only caller of
start_new_rx_buffer() already limits copy operations to PAGE_SIZE or less.

bonding: don't call slave_xxx_netpoll under spinlocks
The slave_xxx_netpoll will call synchronize_rcu_bh(),
so the function may schedule and sleep, it should't be
called under spinlocks.
bond_netpoll_setup() and bond_netpoll_cleanup() are always
protected by rtnl lock, it is no need to take the read lock,
as the slave list couldn't be changed outside rtnl lock.

The mvneta driver currently uses of_iomap(), which has two drawbacks:
it doesn't request the resource, and it isn't devm-style so some error
handling is needed.
This commit switches to use devm_ioremap_resource() instead, which
automatically requests the resource (so the I/O registers region shows
up properly in /proc/iomem), and also is devm-style, which allows to
get rid of some error handling to unmap the I/O registers region.

qlge driver turns off NETIF_F_HW_CTAG_FILTER, but forgets to
turn off HW_CTAG_TX and HW_CTAG_RX on vlan devices. With the
current settings, q-in-q will only generate a single vlan header.
Remember to mask off CTAG_TX and CTAG_RX features in vlan_features.

As in xmit path we merely update statistics and free the skb, we
can mark the device with LLTX feature, so that upper layers can

When a VF issues a firmware command which is disallowed for them, the PF
rerturns -EPERM from that command wrapper. Move to use one such wrapper
instance, instead of repeating the same code on such commands.

The pm_rumtime work queue is causing the device to be suspended during
initialisation, thus the initialisation may not be able to access registers
properly. As the code is called from a work queue, it is possible that this
is not seen from certain configurations/builds due to the asynchronos
nature of the code.
Another issue has also been found where the network device registration
calls back into the driver thus causing further pm_runtime calls that
also caused issues with the MDIO bus code. This has now been checked
and is the only place the MDIO can be called without the device open.
Use pm_runtime_get_sync() and pm_runtime_put() to ensure that the
pm system does not suspend it during the probe() call and remove the
now unnecessary pm_runtime_resume() call. Also add a call in the error
path to call pm_runtime_disable().
This fixes the external abort that can cause /sbin/init or other such
init processed to die.

Like the STi and sunxi series SOCs, Altera's SOCFPGA also needs a glue layer
on top of the Synopsys gmac IP.

before the generic STMMAC driver takes over.

This series contains updates to e1000e, igb, i40e and i40evf
Anjali provides i40e fix to remove the ATR filter on RST as well as FIN
packets. Cleans up add_del_fdir() because it was used and implemented
only for the add, so change the name and drop a parameter. Adds the
ability to drop a flow if we wanted to and adds a flow director
message level to be used for flow director specific messages.
Mitch fixes an issue on i40evf where the Tx watchdog handler was causing
an oops when sending an admin queue message to request a reset because
the admin queue functions use spinlocks.
Greg provides a change to i40e to make the alloc and free queue vector
calls orthogonal.
Shannon fixes i40e to verify the eeprom checksum and firmware CRC status
bits, and shutdown the driver if they fail. This change stops the
processing of traffic, but does not kill the PF netdev so that the
NVMUpdate process still has a chance at fixing the image. Also provides
a fix to make sure the VSI has a netdev before trying to use it in
the debugfs netdev_ops commands.
Jakub Kicinski provides patches for e1000e and igb to fix a number issues
found in the PTP code.

This patch adds support for the FW cmds needed for VxLAN offloads
on Skyhawk-R:
1) The VxLAN UDP port needs to be configured via the port-desc of
SET_PROFILE_CONFIG_v1 cmd.
This patch re-factors the be_set_profile_config() code (used so far
only for setting VF QoS) to be used to set any type of descriptor.
2) The MANAGE_IFACE_FILTERS cmds is needed to convert a normal interface
into a tunnel interface. This allows for RSS to work even on the inner
TCP/UDP headers of VxLAN traffic.

FW stats does provide the Rx rate information. Add this.
Tested with firmware 10x firmware.
Increase buffer size so more peers can be shown.

The filed has been missing (missmatched with FW ABI)
since 999.999.0.629 firmware release.
It's very imporatant to keep these structs up to date with FW,
due to the arithmetic we use while read the fw_stats.

igb has a single set of TX time stamping resources per NIC.
Use a simple bit lock to avoid race conditions and leaking skbs
when multiple TX rings try to claim time stamping.

skb_tx_timestamp() does not report software time stamp
if SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS is set. According to timestamping.txt
software time stamps are a fallback and should not be
generated if hardware time stamp is provided.
Move call to skb_tx_timestamp() after setting
SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS.

tx_hwtstamp_skb is always set before work is scheduled,
work is cancelled before tx_hwtstamp_skb is set to NULL.
PTP work cannot ever see tx_hwtstamp_skb set to NULL.

Hardware may fail to report time stamp e.g.:
- when hardware time stamping is not enabled
- when time stamp is requested shortly after ifup
Timeout time stamp reading work to prevent it from
scheduling itself indefinitely. Report timeout events
via system log and device stats.
