DAPM operations are always performed on the card as a whole. Yet (primarily for
historic reasons) dapm_power_widgets() takes a DAPM context as its parameter.
The DAPM context is mainly used to look up a pointer to the card. The same is
true for a couple of functions that are being called from dapm_power_widgets().
This patch changes the signature of dapm_power_widgets() and a couple of related
functions to take a snd_soc_card instead of a snd_soc_dapm_context.
Some of the functions also use the DAPM's device to print error and debug
messages. This can be a bit confusing though since this means the messages for
all widgets, also those from other contexts, will be printed with that device.
The patch updates those cases to use the device of the widget's DAPM context.

The update field of a DAPM context is only assigned while the card's dapm_mutex
is locked, the field is also cleared again while the mutex is stil locked. So
there will only ever be one DAPM context at a time with a non-NULL update field.
So it is safe to move the update field from the DAPM context struct to the card
struct. Doing so will allow further cleanups in this area.

VAIO-Z laptops need to use the specific DAC for the speaker output
by some unknown reason although the codec itself supports the flexible
connection. So we implemented a workaround by a new flag,
no_primary_hp, for assigning the speaker pin first.
This worked until 3.8 kernel, but it got broken because the driver
learned for a better multi-io pin mapping, and not it can assign two
mic pins for multi-io. Since the multi-io requires to be the primary
output, the hp and two mic pins are assigned in prior to the speaker
in the end.
Although the machine has two mic pins, one of them is used as a noise-
canceling headphone, thus it's no real retaskable mic jack. Thus, at
best, we can disable the multi-io assignment and make the parser
behavior back to the state before the multi-io.
This patch adds again a new flag, no_multi_io, to indicate that the
device has no multi-io capability, and set it in the fixup for
VAIO-Z. The no_multi_io flag itself can be used generically, added
via a helper line, too.

Currently when updating a control that is shared between multiple widgets the
whole power-up/power-down sequence is being run once for each widget. The
control register is updated during the first run, which means the CODEC internal
routing is also updated for all widgets during this first run. The input and
output paths for each widgets are only updated though during the respective run
for that widget. This leads to a slight inconsistency between the CODEC's
internal state and ASoC's state, which causes non optimal behavior in regard to
click and pop avoidance.
E.g. consider the following setup where two MUXs share the same control.
+------+
A1 ------| |
| MUX1 |----- C1
B1 ------| |
+------+
|
control ---+
|
+------+
A2 ------| |
| MUX2 |----- C2
B2 ------| |
+------+
If the control is updated to switch the MUXs from input A to input B with the
current code the power-up/power-down sequence will look like this:
Run soc_dapm_mux_update_power for MUX1
Power-down A1
Update MUXing
Power-up B1
Run soc_dapm_mux_update_power for MUX2
Power-down A2
(Update MUXing)
Power-up B2
Note that the second 'Update Muxing' is a no-op, since the register was already
updated.
While the preferred order for avoiding pops and clicks should be:
Run soc_dapm_mux_update_power for control
Power-down A1
Power-down A2
Update MUXing
Power-up B1
Power-up B2
This patch changes the behavior to the later by running the updates for all
widgets that the control is attached to at the same time.
The new code is also a bit simpler since callers of
soc_dapm_{mux,muxer}_update_power don't have to loop over each widget anymore
and neither do we need to keep track for which of the kcontrol's widgets the
current update is.

snd_hda_jack_detect() function returns a boolean value for a jack
plugged in or not, but it also returns always true when the
corresponding pin is phantom (i.e. fixed). This is OK in most cases,
but it makes the generic parser misbehaving about the auto-mute or
auto-mic switching, e.g. when one of headphone pins is a fixed.
Namely, the driver decides whether to mute the speaker or not, just
depending on the headphone plug state: if one of the headphone jacks
is seen as active, then the speaker is muted. Thus this will result
always in the muted speaker output.
So, the problem is the function returns a boolean, after all, although
we need to think of "phantom" jack. Now a new function,
snd_hda_jack_detect_state() is introduced to return these tristates.
The generic parser uses this function for checking the headphone or
mic jack states.
Meanwhile, the behavior of snd_hda_jack_detect() is kept as is, for
keeping compatibility in other driver codes.

Currently after playing any audio file, we get the following error message:
$ aplay clarinet.wav
Playing WAVE 'clarinet.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Stereo
$ wm8962 0-001a: Unsupported sysclk ratio 544
This error message appears about 5 seconds after the audio playback has
finished.
Quoting Mark Brown [1]:
"The issue here is triggered by the machine
switching from the FLL to direct MCLK usage where the MCLK isn't
generating a useful ratio.
I suspect we should just kill the configure_bclk() in set_sysclk(), that
one isn't safe as we can't reconfigure a live SYSCLK and it's probably
the one that generates your warnings."
Confirmed that the "Unsupported sysclk ratio" error message comes from
wm8962_set_dai_sysclk(), so get rid of wm8962_configure_bclk() inside this
function.

The quirk for Dell laptops with STAC9228 overrides the pin default
config of NID 0x0f to the value with AC_DEFCFG_MISC_NO_PRESENCE bit
on. I'm not quite sure why this was done so, but can guess that this
was introduced for avoiding this to be muted by another headphone
plug. Now, after transition to the generic parser, this workaround
rather causes a problem (notably as unexpected speaker mutes) because
the pin is seen as if it's always plugged in.
Since the generic parser can handle multiple headphone plugging
gracefully, we can get rid of this override now.

This patch fixes the bug by simply including spec->eapd_mask into

We've got bug reports that the module loading stuck on Debian system
with 3.10 kernel. The debugging session revealed that the initial
registration of OSS sequencer clients stuck at module loading time,
which involves again with request_module() at the init phase. This is
triggered only by special --install stuff Debian is using, but it's
still not good to have such loops.
As a workaround, call the registration part asynchronously. This is a

have liked but make the driver actually usable - during the merge window
OMAP removed support for non-DT OMAP4 boards but in doing so removed the
method of accessing DMA channels used by the ASoC drivers rendering them
unusuable.
Otherwise nothing exciting, the symmetric rates change for WM8978 is a
fix for the information we expose to userspace.

so move the disable code to SNDRV_PCM_TRIGGER_STOP for symmetric.
This also allows us to use the SSI driver more flexible so that
it can support some use cases like "aplay S16_LE.wav S24_LE.wav"
which would call the driver in sequence like:
startup()->hw_params(S16_LE)->trigger(START)->tirgger(STOP)->
hw_params(S24_LE)->trigger(START)->tirgger(STOP)->shutdown()
If we disable SSIEN in shutdown(), the second hw_params() would

Commit 8f898e92ae removed the redundant
reads of bInterfaceProtocol from the descriptors, but introduced a
regression to devices with quirks of type QUIRK_AUDIO_FIXED_ENDPOINT,
since fp->protocol is not set in setup process.
As a consequence, audio streams would not get initialized, as the
following logs show:
[ 48.923043] setting usb interface 3:1
[ 48.923056] Creating new capture data endpoint #81

Calling dev_set_name with a single paramter causes it to be handled as a
format string. Many callers are passing potentially dynamic string
content, so use "%s" in those cases to avoid any potential accidents,

These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc
contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto,
dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to
have these changes merged through arm-soc. As we proceed to untangle
the dependencies between platform code and driver code, the amount of
changes in this category is fortunately shrinking, for 3.11 we have
16 branches here and 101 non-merge changesets, the majority of which
are for the stedma40 dma engine driver used in the ux500 platform.
Cleaning up that code touches multiple subsystems, but gets rid
of the dependency in the end.
The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox
is an intermediate step and is still omap specific at the moment.
Patches exist to generalize the subsystem and add other drivers
with the same API, but those did not make it for 3.11.
Conflicts:
* In cpu-db8500.c results from the removal of the u8500_of_init_devices
function in combination with the split of u8500_auxdata_lookup.
* In arch/arm/mach-omap2/devices.c, the includes got reshuffled.
we need to keep linux/wl12xx.h and linux/platform_data/mailbox-omap.h.

One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can
now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and
keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has
already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx)
are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able
to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added.

Mostly the mxs system design uses saif0 mclk output as the clock source
of codec. Since the mclk is implemented as a general divider with the
saif clk as the parent clock, let's register the mclk as a basic
clk-divider to common clock framework. Then with it being a clock
provdier, clk_get() call in codec driver probe function will just work.

Last 3.11 feature pull. I have a few odds bits and pieces and fixes in my
queue, I'll sort them out later on to see what's for 3.11-fixes and what's
for 3.12. But nothing to hold this here up imo.
Highlights:
- more hangcheck work from Mika and Chris to prepare for arb robustness
- trickle feed fixes from Ville
- first parts of the shared pch pll rework, with some basic hw state
readout and cross-checking (this shuts up the confused pch pll refcount
WARN that Linus just recently forwarded)
- Haswell audio power well support from Wang Xingchao (alsa bits acked by
Takashi)
- some cleanups and asserts sprinkling around the plane/gamma enabling
sequence from Ville
- more gtt refactoring from Ben
- clear up the adjusted->mode vs. pixel clock vs. port clock confusion
- 30bpp support, this time for real hopefully

The Roland Quad/Octo-Capture devices use some unknown vendor-specific
mechanism to switch sample rates (and to manage other controls). To
prevent the driver from attempting to use any other than the default
44.1 kHz sample rate, use quirks to hide the other alternate settings.

snd_card_register() registers all devices newly added since the last
call. However, the playback/capture streams are handled as one ALSA
device, so the second /dev device will not be registered if the PCM
streams are added in two steps.
QUIRK_AUTODETECT caused the probe callback to be called once for each
interface, which triggered this problem. Work around this by handling
this like the composite quirk, i.e., autodetecting all other interfaces
that might be used for PCM or MIDI.

Currently we can only have a single platform built in with AC'97 support
due to the use of a global variable to provide the bus operations. Fix
this by making that variable a pointer and having the bus drivers set the
operations prior to registering.
This is not a particularly good or nice approach but it avoids blocking
multiplatform and a real fix involves fixing the fairly deep problems
with AC'97 support - we should be converting it to a real bus.

The ADAU1701 has 2 hardware pins to configure the PLL mode in accordance
to the MCLK-to-LRCLK ratio. These pins have to be stable before the chip
is released from reset, and a full reset cycle, including a new firmware
download is needed whenever they change.
This patch adds GPIO properties to the DT bindings of the Codec, and
implements makes the set_sysclk memorize the configured sysclk.
Because the run-time parameters are unknown at probe time, the first
firmware download is postponed to the first hw_params call, when the
driver can determine the mclk/lrclk divider. Subsequent downloads
are only issued when the divider configuration changes.

We've got bug report wrt many machines with VT1708 (e.g. IBM POS
machines) showing the broken auto-mute behavior. It turned out that
the problem is that the pin control values of the speaker and line-out
pins are completely ignored. As a workaround, let's use the newly
introduced feature of the generic parser, to control the mute via amp
on pins.
Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
Add a new flag, auto_mute_via_amp, to determine the behavior of the
headphone / line-out auto-mute. When this flag is set, the generic
driver mutes the speaker and line outputs via the amp mute of each
pin, instead of changing the pin control values.
This is introduced for devices that don't work expectedly with the pin
control values; for example, some devices are known to keep enabling
the speaker outputs no matter which pin control values are set on the
speaker pins.
The driver doesn't check actually whether the pins have the output amp
caps, but assumes that the proper mixer (mute) controls are created on
all these pins. If not the case, you can't use this flag for your
device.

To reduce pop noise during playback stream start and stop the codec needs
to have the digital_mute callback implemented.
The codec need to be muted before the CPU dai has been stopped (McPDM).
Stopping the McPDM will generate a pop on the codec since no signal on the
PDM bus means full negative amplitude.
By managing the mute/unmute state of the outputs we can decrease the amount
of pop noise when playback starts or stops.

Some VIA codecs like VT1708S have Mic boost amps in the mic pins but
they aren't exposed in the capability bits. In the past driver code,
we override the pin caps and create mic boost controls forcibly.
While transition to the generic parser, we lost the mic boost controls
although the pin caps are still overridden, because the generic parser
code checks the widget caps, too.
So this patch adds a new helper function to allow the override of the
given widget capability bits, and makes VIA codecs driver to add the
missing input-amp capability bit.

These headset jacks keep coming in on more and more platforms, and
it's possible I don't catch them all. Make it easier to test and
verify by making models.

sffsdr machine support does not build since at least v2.6.36
(~3 years). There is little hope of it being fixed, so remove
the support.

MacBook Air 4,2 requires the whole default pin configuration table to
be overridden by the driver, as usual, as Apple's machines don't set
up properly after boot. Otherwise mic won't work, and other ill
effect may happen.

When the Android firmware enables the audio interfaces in accessory
mode, it always declares in the control interface's baInterfaceNr array
that interfaces 0 and 1 belong to the audio function. However, the
accessory interface itself, if also enabled, already is at index 0 and
shifts the actual audio interface numbers to 1 and 2, which prevents the
PCM streaming interface from being seen by the host driver.
To get the PCM interface interface to work, detect when the descriptors
point to the (for this driver useless) accessory interface, and redirect
to the correct one.
