Commit "drm/rcar-du: Use struct videomode in platform data" touches board code
in arch/arm/mach-shmobile. There is, to the best of my knowledge, no risk of
conflict for v3.18. Simon, are you fine with getting those changes merged
through Dave's tree (and could you confirm that no conflict should occur) ?
Simon acked the merge:

* 'drm/next/du' of git://linuxtv.org/pinchartl/fbdev:
drm/rcar-du: Add OF support
drm/rcar-du: Use struct videomode in platform data
video: Add DT bindings for the R-Car Display Unit
video: Add THC63LVDM83D DT bindings documentation
video: Add ADV7123 DT bindings documentation
video: Add DT binding documentation for VGA connector
devicetree: Add vendor prefix "thine" to vendor-prefixes.txt
devicetree: Add vendor prefix "mitsubishi" to vendor-prefixes.txt
drm/shmob: Update copyright notice
drm/rcar-du: Update copyright notice
Aside of the usual boring core properties (compatible, reg, interrupts
and clocks), the bindings use the OF graph bindings to model connections
between the DU output video ports and the on-board and off-board
components.

The THC63LVDM83D is a video LVDS serializer described by an input port,
an output port, and an optional power down GPIO.

The quite-recently-added analog-tv-connector bindings say that the
compatible string for composite video connector is
"composite-connector". That string is also used in the omap3-n900.dts
file. However, the connector driver uses "composite-video-connector", so
this has never worked.
While changing the driver's compatible string to "composite-connector"
would be safer, as published DT bindings should not be changed, I'd
rather fix the bindings in this case for two reasons:
* composite-connector is a bit too generic name, as it doesn't even hint
at video.
* it's clear that this has never worked, which means no one has used
those bindings, which should make it safe to change this.

This merge window brings a good size of cleanups on various
platforms. Among the bigger ones:
* Removal of Samsung s5pc100 and s5p64xx platforms. Both of these have
lacked active support for quite a while, and after asking around nobody
showed interest in keeping them around. If needed, they could be
resurrected in the future but it's more likely that we would prefer
reintroduction of them as DT and multiplatform-enabled platforms
instead.
* OMAP4 controller code register define diet. They defined a lot of registers
that were never actually used, etc.
* Move of some of the Tegra platform code (PMC, APBIO, fuse, powergate)
to drivers/soc so it can be shared with 64-bit code. This also converts them
over to traditional driver models where possible.
* Removal of legacy gpio-samsung driver, since the last users have been
removed (moved to pinctrl)
Plus a bunch of smaller changes for various platforms that sort of
dissapear in the diffstat for the above. clps711x cleanups, shmobile
header file refactoring/moves for multiplatform friendliness, some misc
cleanups, etc.

Certain bridge chips use a GPIO to indicate the cable status instead
of the I_DP_HPD pin. This adds an optional device-tree property,
"samsung,hpd-gpio", to the exynos-dp controller which indicates that
the specified GPIO should be used for hotplug detection.
The GPIO is then set up as an edge-triggered interrupt where the
rising edge indicates hotplug-in and the falling edge indicates hotplug-out.

Mostly bug fixes and clean up. There is a new driver, which is actually
moving a custom PWM driver from drivers/misc.
The majority of the patches are enhancements to the device tree support
in the pwm-backlight driver. Backlights can now additionally be powered
using a regulator and enabled using a GPIO in addition to just the PWM
input.

LP8555 is one of the LP855x family devices.
This device needs pre_init_device() and post_init_device() driver
structure. It's same as LP8557, so the device configuration code is
shared with LP8557. Backlight outputs are generated from dual DC-DC boost
converters. It's configurable EPROM settings which are defined in the
platform data.
Driver documentation and device tree bindings are updated.
