Kalle Valo 8a0c797edb ath10k: print more driver info when firmware crashes
Sometimes users forget to include important info like firmware version,
so better to print all the info.

Ben Greear 384914b2e5 ath10k: provide firmware crash info via debugfs
Store the firmware registers and other relevant data to a firmware crash dump
file and provide it to user-space via debugfs. Should help with figuring out
why the firmware crashed.

Michal Kazior 7a7b373288 ath10k: fix a conflict bug in wmi service bitmap
Service mapping for main firmware branch was incorrectly used for 10.x firmware
and vice-versa. This caused wmi_services in debugfs to print wrong values.

This fixes commit cff990ce7d ("ath10k: fix wmi service bitmap debug") where
for some reason there was either a conflict that wasn't resolved properly or
git had a bad day.

Michal Kazior 5c81c7fd62 ath10k: introduce a stricter scan state machine
This aims at fixing some rare scan bugs related to
firmware reporting unexpected scan event
sequences.

One such bug was if spectral scan phyerr reporting
prevented firmware from properly propagating scan
events to host. This led to scan timeout. After
that next scan would trigger scan completed event
first (before scan started event) leading to
ar->scan.in_progress and timeout timer states to
be overwritten incorrectly and making the very
next scan to hang forever.

Ronald Wahl 671796dd96 carl9170: fix sending URBs with wrong type when using full-speed
The driver assumes that endpoint 4 is always an interrupt endpoint.
Unfortunately the type differs between high-speed and full-speed
configurations while in the former case it is indeed an interrupt
endpoint this is not true for the latter case - here it is a bulk
endpoint. When sending URBs with the wrong type the kernel will
generate a warning message including backtrace. In this specific
case there will be a huge amount of warnings which can bring the system
to freeze.

To fix this we are now sending URBs to endpoint 4 using the type
found in the endpoint descriptor.

A side note: The carl9170 firmware currently specifies endpoint 4 as
interrupt endpoint even in the full-speed configuration but this has
no relevance because before this firmware is loaded the endpoint type
is as described above and after the firmware is running the stick is not
reenumerated and so the old descriptor is used.

Linus Torvalds e7fda6c4c3 Merge branch 'timers-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull timer and time updates from Thomas Gleixner:
"A rather large update of timers, timekeeping & co

   - Core timekeeping code is year-2038 safe now for 32bit machines.
Now we just need to fix all in kernel users and the gazillion of
user space interfaces which rely on timespec/timeval :)

   - Better cache layout for the timekeeping internal data structures.

   - Proper nanosecond based interfaces for in kernel users.

   - Tree wide cleanup of code which wants nanoseconds but does hoops
and loops to convert back and forth from timespecs. Some of it
definitely belongs into the ugly code museum.

   - Consolidation of the timekeeping interface zoo.

   - A fast NMI safe accessor to clock monotonic for tracing. This is a
long standing request to support correlated user/kernel space
traces. With proper NTP frequency correction it's also suitable
for correlation of traces accross separate machines.

   - Checkpoint/restart support for timerfd.

   - A few NOHZ[_FULL] improvements in the [hr]timer code.

   - Code move from kernel to kernel/time of all time* related code.

   - New clocksource/event drivers from the ARM universe. I'm really
impressed that despite an architected timer in the newer chips SoC
manufacturers insist on inventing new and differently broken SoC
     specific timers.

[ Ed. "Impressed"? I don't think that word means what you think it means ]

   - Another round of code move from arch to drivers. Looks like most
of the legacy mess in ARM regarding timers is sorted out except for
     a few obnoxious strongholds.

   - The usual updates and fixlets all over the place"

Minor conflicts in iphc.c were changes overlapping with some

Please pull this last(?) batch of wireless change intended for the
3.17 stream...

For the NFC bits, Samuel says:

"This is a rather quiet one, we have:

- A new driver from ST Microelectronics for their NCI ST21NFCB,
  including device tree support.

- p2p support for the ST21NFCA driver

- A few fixes an enhancements for the NFC digital laye"

For the Atheros bits, Kalle says:

"Michal and Janusz did some important RX aggregation fixes, basically we
were missing RX reordering altogether. The 10.1 firmware doesn't support
Ad-Hoc mode and Michal fixed ath10k so that it doesn't advertise Ad-Hoc
support with that firmware. Also he implemented a workaround for a KVM
issue."

For the Bluetooth bits, Gustavo and Johan say:

"To quote Gustavo from his previous request:

'Some last minute fixes for -next. We have a fix for a use after free in
RFCOMM, another fix to an issue with ADV_DIRECT_IND and one for ADV_IND with
auto-connection handling. Last, we added support for reading the codec and
MWS setting for controllers that support these features.'

Additionally there are fixes to LE scanning, an update to conform to the 4.1
core specification as well as fixes for tracking the page scan state. All
of these fixes are important for 3.17."

And,

"We've got:

- 6lowpan fixes/cleanups
- A couple crash fixes, one for the Marvell HCI driver and another in LE SMP.
- Fix for an incorrect connected state check
- Fix for the bondable requirement during pairing (an issue which had
crept in because of using "pairable" when in fact the actual meaning
was "bondable" (these have different meanings in Bluetooth)"

Along with those are some late-breaking hardware support patches in
brcmfmac and b43 as well as a stray ath9k patch.

"We have a lot of TDLS patches, among them a fix that should make hwsim
tests happy again. The rest, this time, is mostly small fixes."

For the Bluetooth bits, Gustavo says:

"Some more patches for 3.17. The most important change here is the move of
the 6lowpan code to net/6lowpan. It has been agreed with Davem that this
change will go through the bluetooth tree. The rest are mostly clean up and
fixes."

and,

"Here follows some more patches for 3.17. These are mostly fixes to what
we've sent to you before for next merge window."

For the iwlwifi bits, Emmanuel says:

"I have the usual amount of BT Coex stuff. Arik continues to work
on TDLS and Ariej contributes a few things for HS2.0. I added a few
more things to the firmware debugging infrastructure. Eran fixes a
small bug - pretty normal content."

And for the Atheros bits, Kalle says:

"For ath6kl me and Jessica added support for ar6004 hw3.0, our latest
version of ar6004.

For ath10k Janusz added a printout so that it's easier to check what
ath10k kconfig options are enabled. He also added a debugfs file to
configure maximum amsdu and ampdu values. Also we had few fixes as
usual."

On top of that is the usual large batch of various driver updates --
brcmfmac, mwifiex, the TI drivers, and wil6210 all get some action.
Rafał has also been very busy with b43 and related updates.

Also, I pulled the wireless tree into this in order to resolve a
merge conflict...

P.S. The change to fs/compat_ioctl.c reflects a name change in a
Bluetooth header file...

Michal Kazior 24c88f7807 ath10k: add support for 10.2 firmware
The 10.2 firmware is a successor of 10.1 firmware
(formerly identified as 10.x). Both share a lot
but have some slight ABI differences that need to
be taken care of.

The 10.2 firmware introduces some new features but
those can be added in subsequent patches. This
patch makes ath10k boot and work with 10.2 with
comparable functionality to 10.1.

Janusz Dziedzic 0ccb7a3485 ath10k: handle attention flags correctly when using A-MSDU
In case of A-MSDU RX we should check attention flags

A-MSDU subframes. Without a patch we could report A-MSDU

Michal Kazior c21c64d145 ath10k: workaround qos nullfunc bug
Apparently fw/hw generates a corrupted QoS Control
Field in Qos NullFunc frames. The only way to
workaround this is to downgrade frames to

Felix Fietkau d954cd7700 ath9k: fix pending tx frames accounting
Packets originally buffered for the regular hardware tx queues can end
up being transmitted through the U-APSD queue (via PS-Poll or U-APSD).
When packets are dropped due to retransmit failures, the pending frames

Fix this by keeping track of the queue that a frame was accounted for in
the ath_frame_info struct, and using that on completion to decide
whether the counter should be updated.

Michal Kazior a491a920ff ath10k: fix unregister deadlock when fw probe fails
If firmware probing worker failed it called
device_release_driver() which synchronously called
remove() pci callback. The callback in turn waited
for the worker that called it to finish resulting
in a deadlock.

Waiting for a completion instead of a worker, like
some other drivers do, doesn't seem like the best
idea either:

  Syscall Worker

                          probe_fw()
  rmmod
  dev_lock()
  pci->remove()
  wait_for_completion()
                          complete_all()
                          device_release_driver()
                          dev_lock()
                          [sleep]
  free(ar)
  dev_unlock()
                          [resume]

There's no guarantee that Worker upon resuming can
still access any data/code of the module.

Leaving device bound to a driver is not as harmful
as deadlocking so remove the call to
device_release_driver() while a proper solution is
figured out.

Earlier the listen interval is used to decide switching between

the listen interval is reduced to 1. After optimiztion in scan

hence reverting it back to original value.

Some drivers (such as iwlmvm) can handle multiple bands in a single
HW scan request. Add a HW flag to indicate that the driver support
this. To hold the required data, create a separate structure for

different parts of the scan IEs.

Vladimir Kondratiev 7c0acf868d wil6210: Tx performance monitoring
For performance monitoring, trace time intervals when Tx vring
is idle/not idle. Use CPU cycle counter for this, because jiffies is
too rough, and other precise time measurement methods involve
overhead while get_cycles() should be fast.
This used to provide some estimation for percentage when Tx vring
was idle, i.e. when hardware is under-utilized.
Estimation is not precise because of many reasons - CPU frequency scaling,
grt_cycles() may be per core etc. But still, it is good estimation

Bartosz Markowski dfa413de1e ath10k: fix 8th virtual AP interface with DFS
Firmware 10.x supports up to 8 virtual AP interfaces, but in a DFS
channel it was possible to create only 7 interfaces as ath10k internal
creates a monitor interface for DFS. Previous vdev map initialization
was missing enough space for 8 + 1 vdevs due to wrong define used and
that's why there was no space for 8th interface. Use the correct define
TARGET_10X_NUM_VDEVS with 10.x firmware to make it possible to create
the 8th virtual interface.

Michal Kazior f5a9f0ca40 ath10k: remove unnecessary htt rx corruption check
While fixing a bug reported by Avery I went ahead
and added a warning suspecting there might be
something more to the bug. This ended up with
people reporting they see warnings during heavy
traffic. This bought me some time and helped me
understand the problem better - apparently fw/hw
can report a chained msdus as follows: 1 msdu, 1
chained, 1 msdu (0 length).

The patch removes the extra check but leaves the
other change that fixed the original skb_push
panic bug (msdu_chaining was overwritten in an
unfortunate way which made the above example to
be treated as non-chained case).

Michal Kazior f2708bedf2 ath10k: prevent hif_stop being called twice

Michal Kazior 95bf21f97f ath10k: fix core start sequence
It was possible to call hif_stop() 2 times through
ath10k_htc_connect_init() timeout failpath which
could lead to double free_irq() kernel splat for
multiple MSI interrupt case.

Re-order init sequence to avoid this problem. The
HTC stop shouldn't stop HIF implicitly since it
doesn't implicitly start it. Since the re-ordering
required some functions to be split/removed/renamed
rename a few functions to make more sense while at
it.

Rajkumar Manoharan 08232bf949 ath9k_hw: Abort transmission for sleeping station
The data transmission to the power save station should be aborted
immediately, whenever the station informs sleep state. Right now
the frames queued into into hardware are being transmitted until
the hardware detects the power save station based excessive retries
of the data frames due to unacknowlegdement. Then remaining frames
are returned with filetered status and might be retried later by
driver or mac80211.

Per WFA certification testing, AP should not send out more than two
frames after processing nullfunc with PM bit set from associated
station. To speed up tx filtering, the pending frames in hardware
queues for given station will be aborted immediately via tx filter
registers. This transmit filters can be ignored if the descriptor
is having invalid destination index or clear destination mask set.

Felix Fietkau 62e54dbb59 ath9k: remove tid->paused flag
There are some corner cases where the driver could get stuck with a full
tid queue that is paused, leading to a software tx queue hang.

Since the tx queueing rework, pausing per-tid queues on aggregation

numbers to buffered frames when a new session is established, in order
to get the correct starting sequence number.

If for some reason mac80211 wouldn't stop

leak pending beacon DMA mapping. It's very
unlikely but better safe than sorry.

Michal Kazior 216a18367a ath10k: skip suspending when recovering
It doesn't make much sense to even try suspending
the device when recovering. Recovering means the
device is unresponsive and waiting for suspend
procedure means taking a 3 second timeout waiting
for tx credits.

This speeds up firmware recovery significantly.

Vladimir Kondratiev c888cdd41f wil6210: relaxed check for BACK start sequence
Sometimes, due to the race between Rx path and WMI_BA_STATUS_EVENTID WMI event,
few frames may be passed to the stack before reorder buffer allocated.
Then, after BACK establishment, it start getting frames with sequence number ahead of
SSN, and it get interpreted as missing frames. Then, BACK mechanism will wait
for missing frames; data traffic will be stopped. In case of interface configured
for DHCP, this data delay causes DHCP failure.

Relax checking for sequence number; use sequence of 1-st frame handled by the buffer
as SSN for this buffer.

This is work-around, real fix should be done when proper BACK mechanism implemented.

Tim Harvey c82552c5b0 ath9k: add a recv budget
Implement a recv budget so that in cases of high traffic we still allow other
taskets to get processed.

Without this, we can encounter a host of issues during high wireless traffic
reception depending on system load including rcu stall's detected (ARM),
soft lockups, failure to service critical tasks such as watchdog resets,
and triggering of the tx stuck tasklet.

The same thing was proposed previously by Ben:
 http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg112891.html

The only difference here is that I make sure only processed packets are counted
in the budget by checking at the end of the rx loop.

Michal Kazior d650097bfa ath10k: refactor radar detection code
If 20MHz CAC completed successfully then
subsequent CAC with wider bandwidth (40Mhz, 80Mhz)
with identical control frequency did not start
monitor vdev making it impossible to detect any
radar pulses during intended CAC.

It also was incorrect to assume ath10k_config() will
be called after CAC is finished. Theoretically for
non-HT channels nothing changes between CAC and
start_ap() (albeit in practice this can be
different). The incorrect assumption led to CAC
not being stopped on non-HT chandefs leading to
all Rx being drooped making it impossible for
clients to associate.

While at it clean up the code a bit.
