ARM: OMAP2+: Manage MPU state properly for omap_enter_idle_coupled()
Based on more testing, commit 8ca5ee624b4c ("ARM: OMAP2+: Restore MPU power domain if cpu_cluster_pm_enter() fails") is a poor fix for handling cpu_cluster_pm_enter() returned errors. We should not override the cpuidle states with a hardcoded PWRDM_POWER_ON value. Instead, we should use a configured idle state that does not cause the context to be lost. Otherwise we end up configuring a potentially improper state for the MPUSS. We also want to update the returned state index for the selected state. Let's just select the highest power idle state C1 to ensure no context loss is allowed on cpu_cluster_pm_enter() errors. With these changes we can now unconditionally call omap4_enter_lowpower() for WFI like we did earlier before commit |

SoC changes, a substantial part of this is cleanup of some of the older platforms that used to have a bunch of board files. In particular: - Removal of non-DT i.MX platforms that haven't seen activity in years, it's time to remove them. - A bunch of cleanup and removal of platform data for TI/OMAP platforms, moving over to genpd for power/reset control (yay!) - Major cleanup of Samsung S3C24xx and S3C64xx platforms, moving them closer to multiplatform support (not quite there yet, but getting close). Two regression fixes for omaps
Fix AM33XX_IOPAD macro that broke after recent pinctrl changes to use #pinctrl-cells = 2. ARM: omap3: enable off mode automatically
Enabling off mode was only reachable deeply hidden in the debugfs. As powersaving is an important feature, move the option out of its shady place. The debugfs file can still be used to override the default. Use the presence of a device compatible to ti,twl4030-idle or ti,twl4030-idle-osc-off as an indicator that the board is wired correctly for off mode. ARM: OMAP2+: Restore MPU power domain if cpu_cluster_pm_enter() fails
If cpu_cluster_pm_enter() fails, we need to set MPU power domain back
to enabled to prevent the next WFI from potentially triggering an
undesired MPU power domain state change.
We already do this for omap_enter_idle_smp() but are missing it for
omap_enter_idle_coupled().

Add initial genpd support for omaps to drop more platform data
We now drop legacy platform data for RTC on am3, am4 and dra7. soc: ti: pm33xx: Simplify RTC usage to prepare to drop platform data
We must re-enable the RTC module clock enabled in RTC+DDR suspend, and pm33xx has been using platform data callbacks for that. Looks like for retention suspend the RTC module clock must not be re-enabled. To remove the legacy platform data callbacks, and eventually be able to drop the RTC legacy platform data, let's manage the RTC module clock and register range directly in pm33xx. soc: ti: omap-prm: Add basic power domain support
The PRM controller has currently only support for resets while the power domains are still handled in the platform code. Let's add basic power domain support to enable and disable a PRM controlled power domain if configured in the devicetree. This can be used for various hardware accelerators, and interconnect instances. Further support can be added later on as needed for runtime configuration based on domain-idle-states. Patch series "mm: cleanup usage of <asm/pgalloc.h>" Most architectures have very similar versions of pXd_alloc_one() and pXd_free_one() for intermediate levels of page table. These patches add generic versions of these functions in <asm-generic/pgalloc.h> and enable use of the generic functions where appropriate. In addition, functions declared and defined in <asm/pgalloc.h> headers are used mostly by core mm and early mm initialization in arch and there is no actual reason to have the <asm/pgalloc.h> included all over the place. The first patch in this series removes unneeded includes of <asm/pgalloc.h> In the end it didn't work out as neatly as I hoped and moving pXd_alloc_track() definitions to <asm-generic/pgalloc.h> would require unnecessary changes to arches that have custom page table allocations, so I've decided to move lib/ioremap.c to mm/ and make pgalloc-track.h local to mm/. This patch (of 8): In most cases <asm/pgalloc.h> header is required only for allocations of page table memory. Most of the .c files that include that header do not use symbols declared in <asm/pgalloc.h> and do not require that header. As for the other header files that used to include <asm/pgalloc.h>, it is possible to move that include into the .c file that actually uses symbols from <asm/pgalloc.h> and drop the include from the header file. The process was somewhat automated using sed -i -E '/[<"]asm\/pgalloc\.h/d' \ $(grep -L -w -f /tmp/xx \ $(git grep -E -l '[<"]asm/pgalloc\.h')) where /tmp/xx contains all the symbols defined in arch/*/include/asm/pgalloc.h. A couple of subsystems have their own subsystem maintainers but choose to have the code merged through the soc tree as upstream, as the code tends to be used across multiple SoCs or has SoC specific drivers itself: - memory controllers: Krzysztof Kozlowski takes ownership of the drivers/memory subsystem and its drivers, starting out with a set of cleanup patches. A larger driver for the Tegra memory controller that was accidentally missed for v5.8 is now added. - reset controllers: Only minor updates to drivers/reset this time - firmware: The "turris mox" firmware driver gains support for signed firmware blobs The tegra firmware driver gets extended to export some debug information Various updates to i.MX firmware drivers, mostly cosmetic - ARM SCMI/SCPI: A new mechanism for platform notifications is added, among a number of minor changes. - optee: Probing of the TEE bus is rewritten to better support detection of devices that depend on the tee-supplicant user space. A new firmware based trusted platform module (fTPM) driver is added based on OP-TEE - SoC attributes: A new driver is added to provide a generic soc_device for identifying a machine through the SMCCC ARCH_SOC_ID firmware interface rather than by probing SoC family specific registers. Fixes for omaps for v5.8
The recent display subsystem (DSS) related platform data changes caused display related regressions for suspend and resume. Looks like I only tested suspend and resume before dropping the legacy platform data, and forgot to test it after dropping it. Turns out the main issue was that we no longer have platform code calling pm_runtime_suspend for DSS like we did for the legacy platform data case, and that fix is still being discussed on the dri-devel list and will get merged separately. We must check for "dss_core" instead of "dss" to avoid also matching
also "dss_dispc". This only matters for the mixed case of data

ARM: OMAP2+: Fix regression for using local timer on non-SMP SoCs
On am437x we use also an ARM timer in addition to the dmtimer. As am437x
is not an SMP SoC, we need tick_broadcast() implemented. With the recent
dmtimer changes, Arnd started to see link failures for non-SMP am437x
configuration:
kernel/time/tick-broadcast.o: in function `tick_device_uses_broadcast':
tick-broadcast.c:(.text+0x130): undefined reference to `tick_broadcast'
Let's fix the issue by reverting dmtimer related changes that started
building timer.c only for CONFIG_SOC_HAS_REALTIME_COUNTER. We still
always need timer.c built-in for omap5 and dra7 for timer_probe().
And let's also move am437x tick_broadcast() to board-generic.c as
that's where we now call timer_probe() for am437x. This way we avoid
adding back more ifdefs to timer.c.

ARM: OMAP2+: Drop old timer code for dmtimer and 32k counter
With dmtimer and 32k counter being initialized based on devicetree data, we can just drop the old timer code. This still leaves the omap5 and dra7 realtime_counter_init() that depend on the smc calls and control module platform code for the dra7 quirk init.
