Guenter Roeck 2aae008ca6 parisc: Export __cmpxchg_u64 unconditionally
__cmpxchg_u64 is built and used outside CONFIG_64BIT and thus needs to
be exported. This fixes the following build error seen when building
parisc:allmodconfig.

ERROR: "__cmpxchg_u64" [drivers/net/ethernet/intel/i40e/i40e.ko] undefined!

John David Anglin 374b3bf8e8 parisc: Fix double-word compare and exchange in LWS code on 32-bit kernels
As discussed on the debian-hppa list, double-wordcompare and exchange
operations fail on 32-bit kernels. Looking at the code, I realized that
the ",ma" completer does the wrong thing in the "ldw,ma 4(%r26), %r29"
instruction. This increments %r26 and causes the following store to
write to the wrong location.

Note by Helge Deller:
The patch applies cleanly to stable kernel series if this upstream
commit is merged in advance:

Will Deacon a4c1887d4c locking/arch: Remove dummy arch_{read,spin,write}_lock_flags() implementations
The arch_{read,spin,write}_lock_flags() macros are simply mapped to the
non-flags versions by the majority of architectures, so do this in core
code and remove the dummy implementations. Also remove the implementation
in spinlock_up.h, since all callers of do_raw_spin_lock_flags() call
local_irq_save(flags) anyway.

Will Deacon a8a217c221 locking/core: Remove {read,spin,write}_can_lock()
Outside of the locking code itself, {read,spin,write}_can_lock() have no
users in tree. Apparmor (the last remaining user of write_can_lock()) got
moved over to lockdep by the previous patch.

This patch removes the use of {read,spin,write}_can_lock() from the
BUILD_LOCK_OPS macro, deferring to the trylock operation for testing the
lock status, and subsequently removes the unused macros altogether. They
aren't guaranteed to work in a concurrent environment and can give
incorrect results in the case of qrwlock.

Linus Torvalds 27efed3e83 Merge branch 'core-watchdog-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull watchddog clean-up and fixes from Thomas Gleixner:
"The watchdog (hard/softlockup detector) code is pretty much broken in
its current state. The patch series addresses this by removing all
duct tape and refactoring it into a workable state.

The reasons why I ask for inclusion that late in the cycle are:

   1) The code causes lockdep splats vs. hotplug locking which get
reported over and over. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.

   2) The risk of breakage is minimal because it's already broken

   3) As 4.14 is a long term stable kernel, I prefer to have working
watchdog code in that and the lockdep issues resolved. I wouldn't
ask you to pull if 4.14 wouldn't be a LTS kernel or if the
solution would be easy to backport.

   4) The series was around before the merge window opened, but then got
delayed due to the UP failure caused by the for_each_cpu()
      surprise which we discussed recently.

  Changes vs. V1:

   - Addressed your review points

   - Addressed the warning in the powerpc code which was discovered late

   - Changed two function names which made sense up to a certain point
in the series. Now they match what they do in the end.

   - Fixed a 'unused variable' warning, which got not detected by the
intel robot. I triggered it when trying all possible related config
combinations manually. Randconfig testing seems not random enough.

The changes have been tested by and reviewed by Don Zickus and tested
and acked by Micheal Ellerman for powerpc"

Helge Deller 8c031ba63f parisc: Unbreak bootloader due to gcc-7 optimizations
gcc-7 optimizes the byte-wise accesses of get_unaligned_le32() into
word-wise accesses if the 32-bit integer output_len is declared as
external. This panics then the bootloader since we don't have the
unaligned access fault trap handler installed during boot time.

Avoid this optimization by declaring output_len as byte-aligned and thus
unbreak the bootloader code.

Additionally, compile the boot code optimized for size.

Helge Deller 606f95e425 parisc: Add HWPOISON page fault handler code
Commit 24587380f6 ("parisc: Add MADV_HWPOISON and MADV_SOFT_OFFLINE") added
the necessary constants to handle hardware-poisoning. Those were needed to
support the page deallocation feature from firmware.

But I completely missed to add the relevant fault handler code. This now
showed up when I ran the madvise07 testcase from the Linux Test Project,
which failed with a kernel BUG at arch/parisc/mm/fault.c:320.

With this patch the parisc kernel now behaves like other platforms and
gives the same kernel syslog warnings when poisoning pages.

Helge Deller 8d771b143f parisc: Add PDCE_CHECK instruction to HPMC handler
According to the programming note at page 1-31 of the PA 1.1 Firmware

patch follows this note and sets the instruction which has been a nop up

implemented on those machines, so maybe it's only needed on older ones.

Linus Torvalds dd198ce714 Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace
Pull namespace updates from Eric Biederman:
"Life has been busy and I have not gotten half as much done this round
as I would have liked. I delayed it so that a minor conflict
resolution with the mips tree could spend a little time in linux-next
before I sent this pull request.

This includes two long delayed user namespace changes from Kirill
Tkhai. It also includes a very useful change from Serge Hallyn that
allows the security capability attribute to be used inside of user
namespaces. The practical effect of this is people can now untar
tarballs and install rpms in user namespaces. It had been suggested to
generalize this and encode some of the namespace information
information in the xattr name. Upon close inspection that makes the
things that should be hard easy and the things that should be easy
  more expensive.

Then there is my bugfix/cleanup for signal injection that removes the
magic encoding of the siginfo union member from the kernel internal
si_code. The mips folks reported the case where I had used FPE_FIXME
me is impossible so I have remove FPE_FIXME from mips, while at the
same time including a return statement in that case to keep gcc from
  complaining about unitialized variables.

I almost finished the work to get make copy_siginfo_to_user a trivial
copy to user. The code is available at:

     git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace.git neuter-copy_siginfo_to_user-v3

But I did not have time/energy to get the code posted and reviewed
  before the merge window opened.

I was able to see that the security excuse for just copying fields
that we know are initialized doesn't work in practice there are buggy
initializations that don't initialize the proper fields in siginfo. So
we still sometimes copy unitialized data to userspace"

Babu Moger 4c97a0c8fe arch: define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN for all fixed big endian archs
Patch series "Define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN or warn for inconsistencies", v3.

While working on enabling queued rwlock on SPARC, found this following
code in include/asm-generic/qrwlock.h which uses CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to
clear a byte.

static inline u8 *__qrwlock_write_byte(struct qrwlock *lock)
 {
	return (u8 *)lock + 3 * IS_BUILTIN(CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN);
 }

Problem is many of the fixed big endian architectures don't define
CPU_BIG_ENDIAN and clears the wrong byte.

Define CPU_BIG_ENDIAN for all the fixed big endian architecture to fix it.

Also found few more references of this config parameter in
drivers/of/base.c
drivers/of/fdt.c
drivers/tty/serial/earlycon.c
drivers/tty/serial/serial_core.c
Be aware that this may cause regressions if someone has worked-around
problems in the above code already. Remove the work-around.

Rik van Riel d2cd9ede6e mm,fork: introduce MADV_WIPEONFORK
Introduce MADV_WIPEONFORK semantics, which result in a VMA being empty
in the child process after fork. This differs from MADV_DONTFORK in one
important way.

If a child process accesses memory that was MADV_WIPEONFORK, it will get
zeroes. The address ranges are still valid, they are just empty.

If a child process accesses memory that was MADV_DONTFORK, it will get a
segmentation fault, since those address ranges are no longer valid in
the child after fork.

Since MADV_DONTFORK also seems to be used to allow very large programs
to fork in systems with strict memory overcommit restrictions, changing
the semantics of MADV_DONTFORK might break existing programs.

MADV_WIPEONFORK only works on private, anonymous VMAs.

The use case is libraries that store or cache information, and want to
know that they need to regenerate it in the child process after fork.

Examples of this would be:
 - systemd/pulseaudio API checks (fail after fork) (replacing a getpid
check, which is too slow without a PID cache)
 - PKCS#11 API reinitialization check (mandated by specification)
 - glibc's upcoming PRNG (reseed after fork)
 - OpenSSL PRNG (reseed after fork)

The security benefits of a forking server having a re-inialized PRNG in
every child process are pretty obvious. However, due to libraries
having all kinds of internal state, and programs getting compiled with
many different versions of each library, it is unreasonable to expect
calling programs to re-initialize everything manually after fork.

A further complication is the proliferation of clone flags, programs
bypassing glibc's functions to call clone directly, and programs calling
unshare, causing the glibc pthread_atfork hook to not get called.

It would be better to have the kernel take care of this automatically.

The patch also adds MADV_KEEPONFORK, to undo the effects of a prior
MADV_WIPEONFORK.

This is similar to the OpenBSD minherit syscall with MAP_INHERIT_ZERO:

Jiri Slaby 30d6e0a419 futex: Remove duplicated code and fix undefined behaviour
There is code duplicated over all architecture's headers for
futex_atomic_op_inuser. Namely op decoding, access_ok check for uaddr,
and comparison of the result.

Remove this duplication and leave up to the arches only the needed
assembly which is now in arch_futex_atomic_op_inuser.

This effectively distributes the Will Deacon's arm64 fix for undefined
behaviour reported by UBSAN to all architectures. The fix was done in
commit 5f16a046f8 (arm64: futex: Fix undefined behaviour with
FUTEX_OP_OPARG_SHIFT usage). Look there for an example dump.

And as suggested by Thomas, check for negative oparg too, because it was
also reported to cause undefined behaviour report.

Note that s390 removed access_ok check in d12a29703 ("s390/uaccess:
remove pointless access_ok() checks") as access_ok there returns true.
We introduce it back to the helper for the sake of simplicity (it gets
optimized away anyway).

Peter Zijlstra 9d664c0aec locking/atomic: Fix atomic_set_release() for 'funny' architectures
Those architectures that have a special atomic_set implementation also
need a special atomic_set_release(), because for the very same reason
WRITE_ONCE() is broken for them, smp_store_release() is too.

The vast majority is architectures that have spinlock hash based atomic
implementation except hexagon which seems to have a hardware 'feature'.

The spinlock based atomics should be SC, that is, none of them appear to
place extra barriers in atomic_cmpxchg() or any of the other SC atomic
primitives and therefore seem to rely on their spinlock implementation
being SC (I did not fully validate all that).

Therefore, the normal atomic_set() is SC and can be used at
atomic_set_release().

This patch modifies flush_cache_range() to handle non current contexts.
In as much as this occurs infrequently, the simplest approach is to
flush the entire cache when this happens.

John David Anglin ae7a609c34 parisc: Prevent TLB speculation on flushed pages on CPUs that only support equivalent aliases
Helge noticed that we flush the TLB page in flush_cache_page but not in
flush_cache_range or flush_cache_mm.

For a long time, we have had random segmentation faults building
packages on machines with PA8800/8900 processors. These machines only
support equivalent aliases. We don't see these faults on machines that
don't require strict coherency. So, it appears TLB speculation
sometimes leads to cache corruption on machines that require coherency.

This patch adds TLB flushes to flush_cache_range and flush_cache_mm when
coherency is required. We only flush the TLB in flush_cache_page when
coherency is required.

The patch also optimizes flush_cache_range. It turns out we always have
the right context to use flush_user_dcache_range_asm and
flush_user_icache_range_asm.

The patch has been tested for some time on rp3440, rp3410 and A500-44.
It's been boot tested on c8000. No random segmentation faults were
observed during testing.

Helge Deller f520e55241 parisc: Fix crash when calling PDC_PAT_MEM PDT firmware function
Commit c9c2877d08 ("parisc: Add Page Deallocation Table (PDT) support")
introduced the pdc_pat_mem_read_pd_pdt() firmware helper function, which
crashed the system because it trashed the stack if the
pdc_pat_mem_read_pd_retinfo struct was located on the stack (and which is
in size less than the required 32 64-bit values).

Fix it by using the pdc_result struct instead when calling firmware and copy
the return values back into the result struct when finished sucessfully.

While debugging this code I noticed that the pdc_type wasn't set correctly
either, so let's fix that too.

Eric W. Biederman cc731525f2 signal: Remove kernel interal si_code magic
struct siginfo is a union and the kernel since 2.4 has been hiding a union
tag in the high 16bits of si_code using the values:
__SI_KILL
__SI_TIMER
__SI_POLL
__SI_FAULT
__SI_CHLD
__SI_RT
__SI_MESGQ
__SI_SYS

While this looks plausible on the surface, in practice this situation has
not worked well.

- Injected positive signals are not copied to user space properly
unless they have these magic high bits set.

- Injected positive signals are not reported properly by signalfd
unless they have these magic high bits set.

- These kernel internal values leaked to userspace via ptrace_peek_siginfo

- It was possible to inject these kernel internal values and cause the
  the kernel to misbehave.

- Kernel developers got confused and expected these kernel internal values
in userspace in kernel self tests.

- Kernel developers got confused and set si_code to __SI_FAULT which
is SI_USER in userspace which causes userspace to think an ordinary user
sent the signal and that it was not kernel generated.

- The values make it impossible to reorganize the code to transform
  siginfo_copy_to_user into a plain copy_to_user. As si_code must
be massaged before being passed to userspace.

So remove these kernel internal si codes and make the kernel code simpler
and more maintainable.

To replace these kernel internal magic si_codes introduce the helper
function siginfo_layout, that takes a signal number and an si_code and
computes which union member of siginfo is being used. Have
siginfo_layout return an enumeration so that gcc will have enough
information to warn if a switch statement does not handle all of union
members.

A couple of architectures have a messed up ABI that defines signal
specific duplications of SI_USER which causes more special cases in
siginfo_layout than I would like. The good news is only problem
architectures pay the cost.

Update all of the code that used the previous magic __SI_ values to
use the new SIL_ values and to call siginfo_layout to get those
values. Escept where not all of the cases are handled remove the
defaults in the switch statements so that if a new case is missed in
the future the lack will show up at compile time.

Modify the code that copies siginfo si_code to userspace to just copy
the value and not cast si_code to a short first. The high bits are no
longer used to hold a magic union member.

Fixup the siginfo header files to stop including the __SI_ values in
their constants and for the headers that were missing it to properly
update the number of si_codes for each signal type.

The fixes to copy_siginfo_from_user32 implementations has the
interesting property that several of them perviously should never have
worked as the __SI_ values they depended up where kernel internal.
With that dependency gone those implementations should work much
better.

The idea of not passing the __SI_ values out to userspace and then
not reinserting them has been tested with criu and criu worked without
changes.

Josh Poimboeuf 325cdacd03 debug: Fix WARN_ON_ONCE() for modules
Mike Galbraith reported a situation where a WARN_ON_ONCE() call in DRM
code turned into an oops. As it turns out, WARN_ON_ONCE() seems to be
completely broken when called from a module.

The bug was introduced with the following commit:

19d436268d ("debug: Add _ONCE() logic to report_bug()")

That commit changed WARN_ON_ONCE() to move its 'once' logic into the bug
trap handler. It requires a writable bug table so that the BUGFLAG_DONE
bit can be written to the flags to indicate the first warning has
occurred.

The bug table was made writable for vmlinux, which relies on
vmlinux.lds.S and vmlinux.lds.h for laying out the sections. However,
it wasn't made writable for modules, which rely on the ELF section
header flags.

To complete de-coupling the uapi from kernel headers, move generic-y

Punit Agrawal 7868a2087e mm/hugetlb: add size parameter to huge_pte_offset()
A poisoned or migrated hugepage is stored as a swap entry in the page
tables. On architectures that support hugepages consisting of
contiguous page table entries (such as on arm64) this leads to ambiguity
in determining the page table entry to return in huge_pte_offset() when
a poisoned entry is encountered.

Let's remove the ambiguity by adding a size parameter to convey
additional information about the requested address. Also fixup the
definition/usage of huge_pte_offset() throughout the tree.

Linus Torvalds 974668417b driver core patches for 4.13-rc1
Here is the big driver core update for 4.13-rc1.

The large majority of this is a lot of cleanup of old fields in the
driver core structures and their remaining usages in random drivers.
All of those fixes have been reviewed by the various subsystem
maintainers. There's also some small firmware updates in here, a new
kobject uevent api interface that makes userspace interaction easier,
and a few other minor things.

All of these have been in linux-next for a long while with no reported
 issues.

Cause is a call to dma_coerce_mask_and_coherenet in parport_pc_probe_port,
which PARISC DMA API doesn't handle very nicely. This commit gives back
DMA_ERROR_CODE for DMA API calls, if device isn't capable of DMA

Helge Deller 247462316f parisc: Report SIGSEGV instead of SIGBUS when running out of stack
When a process runs out of stack the parisc kernel wrongly faults with SIGBUS
instead of the expected SIGSEGV signal.

This example shows how the kernel faults:
do_page_fault() command='a.out' type=15 address=0xfaac2000 in libc-2.24.so[f8308000+16c000]
trap #15: Data TLB miss fault, vm_start = 0xfa2c2000, vm_end = 0xfaac2000

The vma->vm_end value is the first address which does not belong to the vma, so
adjust the check to include vma->vm_end to the range for which to send the
SIGSEGV signal.

This patch unbreaks building the debian libsigsegv package.

David Herrmann 28b5ba2aa0 net: introduce SO_PEERGROUPS getsockopt
This adds the new getsockopt(2) option SO_PEERGROUPS on SOL_SOCKET to
retrieve the auxiliary groups of the remote peer. It is designed to
naturally extend SO_PEERCRED. That is, the underlying data is from the
same credentials. Regarding its syntax, it is based on SO_PEERSEC. That
is, if the provided buffer is too small, ERANGE is returned and @optlen
is updated. Otherwise, the information is copied, @optlen is set to the
actual size, and 0 is returned.

While SO_PEERCRED (and thus `struct ucred') already returns the primary
group, it lacks the auxiliary group vector. However, nearly all access
controls (including kernel side VFS and SYSVIPC, but also user-space
polkit, DBus, ...) consider the entire set of groups, rather than just
the primary group. But this is currently not possible with pure
SO_PEERCRED. Instead, user-space has to work around this and query the
system database for the auxiliary groups of a UID retrieved via
SO_PEERCRED.

Unfortunately, there is no race-free way to query the auxiliary groups
of the PID/UID retrieved via SO_PEERCRED. Hence, the current user-space
solution is to use getgrouplist(3p), which itself falls back to NSS and
whatever is configured in nsswitch.conf(3). This effectively checks
which groups we *would* assign to the user if it logged in *now*. On
normal systems it is as easy as reading /etc/group, but with NSS it can
resort to quering network databases (eg., LDAP), using IPC or network
communication.

Long story short: Whenever we want to use auxiliary groups for access
checks on IPC, we need further IPC to talk to the user/group databases,
rather than just relying on SO_PEERCRED and the incoming socket. This
is unfortunate, and might even result in dead-locks if the database
query uses the same IPC as the original request.

So far, those recursions / dead-locks have been avoided by using
primitive IPC for all crucial NSS modules. However, we want to avoid
re-inventing the wheel for each NSS module that might be involved in
user/group queries. Hence, we would preferably make DBus (and other IPC
that supports access-management based on groups) work without resorting
to the user/group database. This new SO_PEERGROUPS ioctl would allow us
to make dbus-daemon work without ever calling into NSS.

Hugh Dickins 1be7107fbe mm: larger stack guard gap, between vmas
Stack guard page is a useful feature to reduce a risk of stack smashing
into a different mapping. We have been using a single page gap which
is sufficient to prevent having stack adjacent to a different mapping.
But this seems to be insufficient in the light of the stack usage in
userspace. E.g. glibc uses as large as 64kB alloca() in many commonly
used functions. Others use constructs liks gid_t buffer[NGROUPS_MAX]
which is 256kB or stack strings with MAX_ARG_STRLEN.

This will become especially dangerous for suid binaries and the default
no limit for the stack size limit because those applications can be
tricked to consume a large portion of the stack and a single glibc call
could jump over the guard page. These attacks are not theoretical,
unfortunatelly.

Make those attacks less probable by increasing the stack guard gap
to 1MB (on systems with 4k pages; but make it depend on the page size
because systems with larger base pages might cap stack allocations in
the PAGE_SIZE units) which should cover larger alloca() and VLA stack
allocations. It is obviously not a full fix because the problem is
somehow inherent, but it should reduce attack space a lot.

One could argue that the gap size should be configurable from userspace,
but that can be done later when somebody finds that the new 1MB is wrong
for some special case applications. For now, add a kernel command line
option (stack_guard_gap) to specify the stack gap size (in page units).

Implementation wise, first delete all the old code for stack guard page:
because although we could get away with accounting one extra page in a
stack vma, accounting a larger gap can break userspace - case in point,
a program run with "ulimit -S -v 20000" failed when the 1MB gap was
counted for RLIMIT_AS; similar problems could come with RLIMIT_MLOCK
and strict non-overcommit mode.

Instead of keeping gap inside the stack vma, maintain the stack guard
gap as a gap between vmas: using vm_start_gap() in place of vm_start
(or vm_end_gap() in place of vm_end if VM_GROWSUP) in just those few
places which need to respect the gap - mainly arch_get_unmapped_area(),
and and the vma tree's subtree_gap support for that.

Aleksa Sarai 54ebbfb160 tty: add TIOCGPTPEER ioctl
When opening the slave end of a PTY, it is not possible for userspace to
safely ensure that /dev/pts/$num is actually a slave (in cases where the
mount namespace in which devpts was mounted is controlled by an
untrusted process). In addition, there are several unresolvable
race conditions if userspace were to attempt to detect attacks through
stat(2) and other similar methods [in addition it is not clear how
userspace could detect attacks involving FUSE].

Resolve this by providing an interface for userpace to safely open the
"peer" end of a PTY file descriptor by using the dentry cached by
devpts. Since it is not possible to have an open master PTY without
having its slave exposed in /dev/pts this interface is safe. This
interface currently does not provide a way to get the master pty (since
it is not clear whether such an interface is safe or even useful).

Helge Deller c9c2877d08 parisc: Add Page Deallocation Table (PDT) support
The firmare in most parisc machines maintains a Page Deallocation Table (PDT)
which holds a list of physical memory addresses where hardware detected memory
errors (single bit and double bit errors).

This patch adds the missing PDC firmware calls and the logic to read the PDT
from firmware, report all current PDT entries and exclude the reported bad
memory from being used by Linux.

Helge Deller c8c3735997 parisc: Enhance detection of synchronous cr16 clocksources
The cr16 clocks of the physical PARISC CPUs are usually nonsynchronous.
Nevertheless, it seems that each CPU socket (which holds two cores) of
PA8800 and PA8900 CPUs (e.g. in a C8000 workstation) is fed by the same
clock source, which makes the cr16 clocks of each CPU socket syncronous.
Let's try to detect such situations and mark the cr16 clocksource stable
on single-socket and single-core machines.

Nicolas Dichtel fcc8487d47 uapi: export all headers under uapi directories
Regularly, when a new header is created in include/uapi/, the developer
forgets to add it in the corresponding Kbuild file. This error is usually
detected after the release is out.

In fact, all headers under uapi directories should be exported, thus it's
useless to have an exhaustive list.

After this patch, the following files, which were not exported, are now
exported (with make headers_install_all):

For the record, note that exported files for asm directories are a mix of
files listed by:
 - include/uapi/asm-generic/Kbuild.asm;
 - arch/<arch>/include/uapi/asm/Kbuild;
 - arch/<arch>/include/asm/Kbuild.
