Vinod Koul 48c7699fb2 ASoC: core: allow pcms to be registered as nonatomic
ALSA core with commit 257f8cce5d - "ALSA: pcm: Allow nonatomic trigger
operations" allows trigger ops to implemented as nonatomic. For ASoC, we can
specify this in dailinks and is updated while snd_pcm is created

Arnd Bergmann 52554fbd2f ASoC: cirrus: tlv320aic23 needs I2C
The tlv320aic23 codec is selected by the ep93xx snapper platform,

Arnd Bergmann 014c4d6376 ASoC: Samsung: add missing I2C/SPI dependencies
A few sound drivers for the samsung platforms are missing dependencies
on I2C or SPI, which can lead to build errors like

Currently, we will configure dmic related pin definition if pdata.dmic_en

Nicolin Chen 541b03ad6c ASoC: fsl_ssi: Fix the incorrect limitation of the bit clock rate
According to i.MX Reference Manual, the bit-clock frequency generated
by SSI must be never greater than 1/5 of the peripheral clock frequency.

This peripheral clock, however, is not baudclk but the IPG clock (i.e.
ssi_private->clk in the fsl_ssi driver).

So this patch just simply fixes the incorrect limitation applied to
the bit clock (baudclk) rate.

Peter Rosin b6d6c6e95f ASoC: atmel_ssc_dai: Allow more rates
When the SSC acts as BCK master, use a ratnum rule to limit
the rate instead of only doing the standard rates. When the SSC
acts as BCK slave, allow any BCK frequency up to the SSC master
clock, divided by either of 2, 3 or 6.

Put a cap at 384kHz. Who's /ever/ going to need more than that?

The divider of 2, 3 or 6 is selected based on the Serial Clock Ratio
Considerations section from the SSC documentation:

The Transmitter and the Receiver can be programmed to operate
with the clock signals provided on either the TK or RK pins.
This allows the SSC to support many slave-mode data transfers.
In this case, the maximum clock speed allowed on the RK pin is:
    - Peripheral clock divided by 2 if Receiver Frame Synchro is input
    - Peripheral clock divided by 3 if Receiver Frame Synchro is output
In addition, the maximum clock speed allowed on the TK pin is:
    - Peripheral clock divided by 6 if Transmit Frame Synchro is input
    - Peripheral clock divided by 2 if Transmit Frame Synchro is output

Christian Engelmayer 279e17ae81 ASoC: Intel: sst: Fix firmware name size handling
Function sst_acpi_probe() uses plain strcpy for setting member firmware_name
of a struct intel_sst_drv from member firmware of a struct sst_machines.
Thereby the destination array has got a length of 20 byte while the source may
hold 32 byte. Since eg. commit 64b9c90b86 ("ASoC: Intel: Fix BYTCR firmware
name") increased strings from "fw_sst_0f28.bin" to "intel/fw_sst_0f28.bin"
there is an actual possibility that the 20 byte array at the end of struct
intel_sst_drv is overrun.

Thus increase the size of the destination and use the same define for both
structs. Detected by Coverity CID 1260087.

So here, we add a platform PM status, HSW_PM_STATE_RTD3, to make

Along with this change, pcm->dev field is dropped for avoiding

Arnd Bergmann 4c121129c9 ASoC: rt5677: fix SPI dependency
The rt5677 codec has gained code that requires SPI to work correctly,
but there is no provision in Kconfig to prevent the driver from
being used when SPI is disabled or a loadable module, resulting
in this build error:

sound/built-in.o: In function `rt5677_spi_write':
:(.text+0xa7ba0): undefined reference to `spi_sync'

ERROR: "spi_register_driver" [sound/soc/codecs/snd-soc-rt5677-spi.ko] undefined!

This makes the SPI portion of the driver depend on the SPI subsystem,

Arnd Bergmann f9a7ba3269 ASoC: davinci: fix DM365_EVM codec selection
An earlier bug fix of mine made the SND_DM365_VOICE_CODEC symbol
tristate to avoid creating an undefined reference from the
davinci-vcif.c driver to the davinci_soc_platform_register
function that may be in a module.

However, this may now lead to a different error on randconfig
kernels:

"warning: SND_DM365_VOICE_CODEC creates inconsistent choice state"

This happens because we now have a choice statement with
one bool and one tristate option, and the latter might not
support being set to 'y' because of dependencies.

This new change turns the other option into 'tristate' as well,
which avoids the problem.

Lars-Peter Clausen f8d71be555 ASoC: wm97xx: Reset AC'97 device before registering it
The wm97xx touchscreen driver binds itself to the snd_ac97 device that gets
registered by the CODEC driver and expects that the device has already been
reset. Before commit 6794f709b7 ("ASoC: ac97: Drop delayed device
registration") the device was only registered after the probe function of
the CODEC driver had finished running, but starting with the mentioned
commit the device is registered as soon as snd_soc_new_ac97_codec() is
called. This causes the touchscreen driver to no longer work. Modify the
CODEC drivers to use snd_soc_alloc_ac97_codec() instead of
snd_soc_new_ac97_codec() and make sure that the AC'97 device is reset before
the snd_ac97 device gets registered.

Lars-Peter Clausen a59aa180ea ASoC: samsung: Replace depends on REGMAP_I2C with depends on I2C
regmap is a library function that gets selected by drivers that need it. No
driver modules should depend on it, since this can create dependency loops.

E.g. if machine driver depends on REGMAP_I2C and selects the CODEC driver
and the CODEC driver selects REGMAP_I2C, then the machine driver selects by
extension one of its dependencies.

The proper way to handle this is for machine drivers to depend on the same
dependencies as the CODEC driver they select. In this case it is I2C.

Lars-Peter Clausen 96da4e5b2e ASoC: Remove codec field from snd_soc_dapm_widget
There are no more users of this field left so it can finally be removed.
New users should use snd_soc_dapm_to_codec(w->dapm);

The reason why it is removed is because it doesn't fit to well anymore in
the componentized ASoC hierarchy, where DAPM works on the snd_soc_component
level. And the alternative of snd_soc_dapm_to_codec(w->dapm) typically
generates the same amount of code, so there is really no reason to keep it.

For automatic conversion the following coccinelle semantic patch can be used:

overlooked that the speaker widget event callback accesses the widget's

Current rsnd driver has rsnd_mod_to_priv() macro, and struct rsnd_mod

Sylwester Nawrocki 074b89bb5f ASoC: samsung: i2s: Add clock provider for the I2S internal clocks
This patch adds clock provider (currently only for DT platforms) for
the CODECLKO (CDCLK) gate, RCLKSRC mux and RCLK pre-scaler divider
divider clock. Those all tree clock are only available in the IIS
Multi Audio Interface (I2S0), the regular IIS Bus Interface has only
CDCLK gate clock.

The motivation behind this patch is to expose the I2S internal clocks
which are currently controlled through set_sysclk() through the clk
API, so dedicated sound machine driver per each board can be avoided.

The intention is also to fix the CDCLK gating issue reported by
Daniel Drake:
http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2014-September/081753.html

This patch also reverts commit b97c60abf9
("ASoC: samsung-i2s: Maintain CDCLK settings across i2s_{shutdown/
startup}") The problem that commit attempted to solve only affects
the Odroid X2/U3, which doesn't configure the CDCLK clock in
struct snd_soc_dai_ops hw_params callback and the issue should be
now resolved by using clk API, i.e. having the codec enabling/
disabling the CDCLK clock as required.

Sylwester Nawrocki ecb400cabb ASoC: samsung: odroidx2: Handle I2S CDCLK clock conditionally
In order to support old DTs we check the codec device node if it
contains "clocks" property and only if it doesn't (which indicates
an old DT) we proceed with enabling the CDCLK clock by means of
the set_sysclk() callback. For new DTs which use the common clock
bindings for CDCLK that clock is supposed to be handled outside
the sound machine driver.

Sylwester Nawrocki c92f1d0e7c ASoC: samsung: i2s: Move clk enable to the platform driver probe()
The clk_prepare_enable() call on the "iis" clock is moved to happen earlier
in the DAI platform device driver's probe() callback, so the I2S registers
can be safely accessed through the clk API, after the clk supplier is
registered in the platform device probe().

After this patch the "iis" clock is kept enabled since the (primary) I2S
platform device probe() and until the platform device driver remove() call.
This is similar to gating the clock in the snd_soc_dai probe() and remove()
callbacks.
Normally, in addition to that we should mark the device as PM runtime active,
so if runtime PM is enabled it can idle the device by turning off the clock.
Correcting this issue is left for a separate patch series, as we need to
ensure the BUSCLK clock is always enabled when required.

    ...
    PC is at asoc_simple_card_unref+0x14/0x48
    LR is at asoc_simple_card_probe+0x3d4/0x40c

This typically happens because asoc_simple_card_parse_of() returns
-EPROBE_DEFER, but other failure modes are possible.
devm_snd_soc_register_card()/snd_soc_register_card() may fail either
before or after dev_set_drvdata().

Pass a snd_soc_card pointer instead of a platform_device pointer to
asoc_simple_card_unref() to fix this.

"But looking at the source it seems that this is a core feature of ALSA and at
least for the card module itself it will do the ref-counting when a stream is
started/stopped. And we even support setting the owner of a card in ASoC.
It's just that pretty much no ASoC card driver bothers to set the owner field

XTFPGA boards provides an audio subsystem that consists of TI CDCE706

Lars-Peter Clausen ce64c8b9cf ASoC: Add helper function for changing the DAI link format
For some setups it is necessary to change the DAI link format at runtime.
This patch factors out the code that does the initial static DAI link format

to reuse it instead of having to manually change the format on all DAIs.

Mark Brown fcf6c5ea7a ASoC: dapm: Don't use async I/O
The only user of the async I/O support in ASoC is SPI which was using it to
avoid needless context thrashing and minimise controller runtime PM bounces.
The SPI framework has now been enhanced so that even normal spi_sync() calls
won't suffer these effects so we don't need to handle this in ASoC and in
fact it can be more efficient not to since we don't need to set up and tear
down the buffers needed to manage asynchronous I/O.

The async completions that DAPM does are left in place so drivers can use
them, they are very cheap if there is no asynchronous work queued.

Andrew Jackson db2c1f9e38 ASoC: dwc: Iterate over all channels
The Designware core can be configured with up to four stereo channels.
Each stereo channel is individually configured so, when the driver's
hw_params call is made, each requested stereo channel has to be
programmed.

Lars-Peter Clausen 86d7500326 ASoC: dapm: Simplify fully route card handling
For legacy reasons the ASoC framework assumes that a CODEC INPUT or OUTPUT
widget that is not explicitly connected to a external source or sink is
potentially connected to a source or a sink and hence the framework treats
the widget itself as source (for INPUT) or sink (for OUTPUT). For this
reason a INPUT or OUTPUT widget that is really not connected needs to be
explicitly marked as so.

Setting the card's fully_routed flag will cause the ASoC core, once that all
widgets and routes have been registered, to go through the list of all
widgets and mark all INPUT and OUTPUT that are not externally connected as
non-connected. This essentially negates the default behaviour of treating
INPUT or OUTPUT widgets without external routes as sources or sinks.

This patch takes a different approach while getting the same result. Instead
of first marking INPUT and OUTPUT widgets as sinks/sources and then later
marking them as non-connected, just never mark them as a sink or a source if
the fully_routed flag is set on a card.

This requires a lot less code and also results in a slightly faster card
initialization since there is no need to iterate over all widgets and check
whether the INPUT and OUTPUT widgets are connected or not.

Lars-Peter Clausen 768c056443 ASoC: dapm: Don't mark MICBIAS widgets as auto non-connected
The connected flag of a widget only affects widgets that are either a source
or a sink. The MICBIAS widget is a simple pass-through widget though and
hence its behavior is the same regardless of whether the connected flag is
set or not.

Hence there is not much point in trying to automatically mark MICBIAS
widgets as non-connected, so just remove it.
