Currently, the IR table is initialized by calling ir_input_init(). However,
this function doesn't return any error code, nor has a function to be called
when de-initializing the IR's.
Change the return argment to integer and make sure that each driver will
handle the error code. Also adds a function to free any resources that may
be allocating there: ir_input_free().

Packet DMA buffers are queued either initially all at once (then, a
queueing failure will cause firedtv to release the DMA context as a
whole) or subsequently one by one as they recycled after use (then a
failure is extremely unlikely). Therefore we can be a little less
cautious when counting at which packet buffer to set the interrupt flag.

The firedtv DVB driver will now work not only on top of the old ieee1394
driver stack but also on the new firewire driver stack.
Alongside to the firedtv-1394.c backend for driver binding and I/O, the
firedtv-fw.c backend is added. Depending on which of the two 1394
stacks is configured, one or the other or both backends will be built
into the firedtv driver.
This has been tested with a DVB-T and a DVB-C box on x86-64 and x86-32

The 4 bytes which were referred to as FIREWIRE_HEADER_SIZE are actually
the source packet header from IEC 61883-4 (MPEG2-TS data transmission
over 1394), not e.g. the IEEE 1394 isochronous packet header. So choose
a more precise name.

On particularly weak signals, changing register 0xab after setting the
interleave mode will cause the FEC lock to get lost (while still holding the
EQ lock). So remove the write entirely, which seems to have had no adverse
effect in either of my ClearQAM environments (and in particular resolves the
customer's reported issue).
Also flip around the order of the amhum optimization and the interleave setup
to be consistent with the windows driver, which has the side-benefit of doing
them both in the same call (since the amhum optimization can only be done once
the interleave setup).

The sh51409 driver was only doing the QAM optimization a single time, and it
would only occur if you received a lock instantaneously after the tuning
request. Restructure the code so that the optimization occurs once you reach
a signal lock.
Note that this depends on the caller polling for status, but we don't have
much choice at this point without an independent thread monitoring the lock
status. Also, at this point pretty much every application polls for status
lock after doing the tune, so the likelihood of the optimization not occurring
in the real world is pretty low.
The state machine has also been reworked such that setting the interleave mode
is now a dependency of doing the QAM optimization. Before both were mutually
exclusive, which was not consistent with the Windows driver. We now have a
single state machine that controls both.
The changes as-is are only enabled for the HVR-1600. Once the changes are
tested with some of the other boards, this change should be made generic and
the "_legacy" functions should be removed.

Friio White is an USB 2.0 ISDB-T receiver. (http://www.friio.com/)
The device has a GL861 chip and a Comtech JDVBT90502 canned tuner module.
This driver ignores all the frontend_parameters except frequency,
as ISDB-T shares the same parameter configuration across the country
and thus the device can work like an intelligent one.
As this device does not include a CAM nor hardware descrambling feature,
the driver passes through scrambled TS streams.

Vendor/Product ID with White, but it is not supported in this driver.

Various frontend driver have parameter checks in their set_frontend
functions and return an error if the parameters are not supported,
tda10021 and cx24116 to name two.
The tuning ioctls FE_SET_FRONTEND/FE_SET_PROPERTY only change values
in the property cache and return before set_frontend is called. If a
set_frontend call in software zigzag algorithm fails and the card was
previously locked it will report a lock and the new parameters but is
still tuned to the old transport. This is not detectable from
userspace.
This change checks the return values of fe->ops.set_frontend and
changes the state to the added FESTATE_ERROR for software zigzag.
No lock will be reported to userspace if the State is FESTATE_ERROR.

The input subsystem checks if get_keycode works for a scan code. Due to that,
we need to return a valid value when there's some space at the table that
can be used by a scancode.
Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
Implements handler for EVIOCGKEYCODE/EVIOCSKEYCODE via adding two new callbacks
to the input device.
Since on dvb-usb a scan code has 16 bits, to fulfill rc5 standard codes, the default
getkeycode/setkeycode input methods would require the driver to spend up to 64 Kb of
a sparse table. Instead, add two new callbacks to the event device.
With this, it is now possible to replace the keycode tables. There are, however, a few
implementation details at the current patch:
1) It will replace the existing device keytable, instead of creating an instance
of the data. This works. However, if two devices pointing to the same table
were connected, changing the IR table of one will also change the IR table for
the other (the solution for this one is simple: just kmalloc some memory);
2) In order to change the scan code, you need first to change the key to
KEY_RESERVED or KEY_UNKNOWN to free some space at the table (solution: allocate
some additional space for newer scan codes or allow dynamic table grow);
3) The table size cannot be extended. It would be easy to allow the table to
grow dynamically: just calling kmalloc(size+1); kfree(old). Yet, maybe we can
just create a bigger table with a fixed size, like for example a table with 128
entries. This should be enough even for a very big IR.
The current issues should be addressed on a later patch.
Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
In order to be closer to V4L IR implementation, it is needed to replace
u8 custom, data
to:
u16 scan
This allows using non-rc5 mappings, like the 8 bit keycodes used on older
protocols. It will also allow future implementations of rc6 keystrokes
when needed.
Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
Currently, V4L uses a scancode table whose index is the scancode and
the value is the keycode. While this works, it has some drawbacks:
1) It requires that the scancode to be at the range 00-7f;
2) keycodes should be masked on 7 bits in order for it to work;
3) due to the 7 bits approach, sometimes it is not possible to replace
the default keyboard to another one with a different encoding rule;
4) it is different than what is done with dvb-usb approach;
5) it requires a typedef for it to work. This is not a recommended
Linux CodingStyle.
This patch is part of a larger series of IR changes. It basically
replaces the IR_KEYTAB_TYPE tables by a structured table:
struct ir_scancode {
u16 scancode;
u32 keycode;
};
This is very close to what dvb does. So, a further integration with DVB
code will be easy.
While we've changed the tables, for now, the IR keycode handling is still
based on the old approach.
The only notable effect is the redution of about 35% of the ir-common
module size:
text data bss dec hex filename
6721 29208 4 35933 8c5d old/ir-common.ko
5756 18040 4 23800 5cf8 new/ir-common.ko
In thesis, we could be using above u8 for scancode, reducing even more the size
of the module, but defining it as u16 is more convenient, since, on dvb, each
scancode has up to 16 bits, and we currently have a few troubles with rc5, as their
scancodes are defined with more than 8 bits.
This patch itself shouldn't be doing any functional changes.

The AVC protocol uses the same command for tuning and PID filtering and
since dvb-core uses a software zigzagging to do automatic retuning this
could cause all PID filters to be cleared. PID filter information is
now included in all DSD commands to the card.
Background:
There is a problem in the firedtv driver that causes recordings to stop
if the SW zigzag algorithm in dvb-core kicks in with a retune after the
application has set up the PID filters. Since tuning and setting PID
filters uses the same AVC command (DSD) and only the replace subfunction
is supported by the card, it is not possible to do a retune without
setting the PID filters. This means that the PID filtering has to be
sent in each tune.
This problem applies to C and T cards since S and S2 cards tune using a
vendor specific command. The patch corrects the problem by sending the
PID list in each tune. I have tested it on my T card with a good
result.
How to trigger problem: Zap to a channel and output AV to a file, e.g.
"tzap -c channels.conf SVT1 -r -o SVT1.ts". After a short while, pull
the antenna cable from the card. The lock on the channel will disappear
and the TS file will stop increasing in size. Wait a couple of seconds.
Replug the cable again. You will get a lock on the channel again, but
the TS file will never increase in size agains sinze no PIDS are
filtered.
Tested with kaffeine with DVB-T and DVB-C: Fixes retuning after antenna
was plugged out and back in with DVB-T. Does not fix this with DVB-C,
but also doesn't regress on DVB-C.

Replace printing to magically sized temporary buffer with use
of KERN_CONT for continual printing of eeprom registers dump.
Since deb_info is defined as dprintk, which is conditionally defined
to printk without additional parameters, meaning that deb_info is equivalent
to direct printk (without adding KERN_ facility), we can use KERN_DEBUG and
KERN_CONT in there, eliminating the need for sprintf into temporary buffer
with not easily readable/magical size.
Though it's strange, that deb_info definition uses printk without KERN_
facility and callers don't use it either.

However, in NetUP Dual card on the same i2c bus we have several devices.

The dvb-pll code should do the same thing that
alps_tdee4_stv0297_tuner_set_params() was doing. Except the dvb-pll code
will check for tuner presence when attaching, while the old code didn't.
This tuner appears to not be behind the stv0297's I2C gate but is instead
on a different I2C adapter provided by the flexcop chip. The old code
would turn the I2C gate off each time the tuner was used. I've changed it
to turn the gate off when the tuner is attached and then disable the gate
control function. This should result in the gate staying off, which should
be even better.

Tuner parameters taken from flexcop driver. This PLL has a 17 bit divisor
while the dvb-pll driver is designed for 15 bit divisors. It's not a
problem as 15 bits is enough for the tuner's entire range. But if a larger

DMX_ADD_PID allows to add multiple PIDs to a transport stream filter
previously set up with DMX_SET_PES_FILTER and output=DMX_OUT_TSDEMUX_TAP.
DMX_REMOVE_PID is used to drop a PID from a filter.
These ioctls are to be used by readers of /dev/dvb/adapterX/demuxY. They
may be called at any time, i.e. before or after the first filter on the
shared file descriptor was started.
They make it possible to record multiple services without the need to de-
or re-multiplex TS packets.
To accomplish this, dmxdev_filter->feed.ts has been converted to a list
of struct dmxdev_feeds, each containing a PID value and a pointer to a
struct dmx_ts_feed.

This patch changes most frontend drivers to allocate their state structure via
kzalloc and not kmalloc. This is done to properly initialize the
embedded "struct dvb_frontend frontend" field, that they all have.
The visible effect of this struct being uninitalized is, that the member "id"
that is used to set the name of kernel thread is totally random.
Some board drivers (for example cx88-dvb) set this "id" via
videobuf_dvb_alloc_frontend but most do not.
So I at least get random id values for saa7134, flexcop and ttpci based cards.
It looks like this in dmesg:
DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend -10551321 (ST STV0299 DVB-S)
The related kernel thread then also gets a strange name
like "kdvb-ad-1-fe--1".

Fixes stack corruption bug present in dump_regs function of zl10353 and
qt1010 drivers: the buffer buf was one byte smaller than required -
there are 4 chars for address prefix, 16 * 3 chars for dump of 16 eeprom
bytes per line and 1 byte for zero ending the string required, i.e. 53
bytes, but only 52 were provided.

the kernel. Or that frontends compiled as modules can't be used by the
b2c2 driver if it is not a module itself.

driver. The code for the frontend support was getting added if the demod
driver was available. Change this to also require any needed tuner or SEC

The fact that we now explicitly set fepriv->exit = 1 when the thread is
shutting down exposed an edge case where it was not being reset back to zero
once the thread went away in some cases. This resulted in failures in cases
where the frontend was closed, and then opened O_RDONLY, since in that case
the thread is not being restarted but it was checking the fepriv->exit flag.

A race condition was detected in the case that putting the tuner to sleep takes
an unusually long period of time, combined with applications that quickly
close/open the dvb frontend.
The kaffeine channel scanner closes and reopens the dvb frontend between each
tuning attempt. If it takes an unusually longer period of time to put the
tuner to sleep (for example, the Pinnacle 801e takes 660 ms), the dvb_frontend
thread will still be in a running state (and hence fepriv->thread is still set)
but the fepriv->exit field will still be zero. As a result, if a
dvb_frontend_start() call arrives while the frontend thread is in the process
of terminating, the call will return 0 without actually starting a new thread.
This results in the tuning request being dropped.
To address this, mark fepriv->exit as soon as we know the thread is going to
be terminated, so that dvb_frontend_start() knows to start a new instance.
Problem encountered with Kaffeine 0.8.7 doing ATSC scanning against the
Pinnacle 801e tuner, in conjunction with new code to power down the xc5000
when not in use.

If frontend registration fails, clean up with dvb_frontend_detach() rather
than just calling the frontend's main release method. The former does some
additional stuff, like release an attached tuner and take care of putting
symbols when dynamic binding is used.
In skystar2_rev23_attach() it's not necessary to set fc->dev_type, that
gets set before skystar2_rev23_attach() is called.

dvb_dvr_read may unlock the dmxdev mutex and return -ENODEV, except this
function is a file op and will never be called with the mutex held.
There's existing mutex_lock and mutex_unlock around the actual read but
it's commented out. These should probably be uncommented but the read
blocks and this could block another non-blocking reader on the mutex
instead.
This change comments out the extra mutex_unlock.

I have been informed by the manufacturer that the patch currently in the v4l tree to support the Genpix-CW3K version of the hardware will actually
damage the firmware on recent units. As he seems to not want this hardware supported in Linux, and I do not know how to detect the difference between
affected and not-affected units, I am requesting the immediate removal of support for this device. This patch removes a portion of the changeset
dce7e08ed2b1 applied 2007-08-18 relating to this specific device.

dibusb_i2c_xfer seems to do things very dangerous :
it assumes that it get only write/read request or write request.
That means that read can be understood as write. For example a program
doing
file = open("/dev/i2c-x", O_RDWR);
ioctl(file, I2C_SLAVE, 0x50)
read(file, data, 10)
will corrupt the eeprom as it will be understood as a write.

Separate tuning table for DVB-C solves tuning problem at 388MHz
TechnoTrend C-1501 DVB-C card does not lock on 388MHz. I assume that
existing frequency table is valid for DVB-T.
This is suggested by the name of the table: tda827xa_dvbt.
Added a table for DVB-C with the name tda827xa_dvbc.
Added runtime selection of the DVB-C table when the tuner is type
FE_QAM.
This should leave the behaviour of this driver with with DVB_T tuners
unchanged. This modification is in file tda827x.c
The tda827x.c gives the following warning message when debug=1:
tda827x: tda827x_config not defined, cannot set LNA gain!

Fix dvb frontend debug variable to be static, to avoid linker
errors:
drivers/built-in.o:(.data+0xf4b0): multiple definition of `debug'
arch/x86/kernel/built-in.o:(.kprobes.text+0x90): first defined here
ld: Warning: size of symbol `debug' changed from 85 in arch/x86/kernel/built-in.o to 4 in drivers/built-in.o
It would also be Good if arch/x86/kernel/entry_32.S didn't have a
non-static 'debug' symbol. OTOH, it helps catch things like this one.

Import the following changes from Uri Shkolnik
* Two-ways merge with Siano internal repository
* Continuing with DVB sub-system separation
* kconfig and makefile updates
* Code cleanup
This is a work-in-progress sync with Siano's internal repository.
Some changes had to be altered or dropped in order not to break the build.
This breaks normal operation for the current driver, but it is being committed
now for tracking purposes.

Hi there!
While having a look at the allocation of struct dvb_frontend in *_attach

redundant, and the attached patch removes these calls.
I also changed one case calling kmalloc and memset to kzalloc.

For i2c normal work, we need to slow down the bus speed. However, the
slow down breaks the eeprom firmware load. So, use normal speed for
eeprom booting and then restore the i2c speed after that.
It should also be noticed that no other I2C transfer should be in course
while booting from eeprom, otherwise, tda10046 goes into an instable
state. So, proper locking are needed at the i2c bus master.
Tested with saa7134 MSI TV @nyware A/D board, that comes with an eeprom
with firmware version 29.

Now there is a card, which uses cx24116 to control LNB DC voltage.
It is DVBWorld DVBS2 PCI-e 2005.
The patch is nedded to add support for that card.
1. Rename CMD_SET_TONEPRE to CMD_LNBDCLEVEL.
2. Fill set_voltage with actually control voltage code.
3. Correct set_tone to not affect voltage.

Tuning was broken on FireDTV S2 (and presumably FloppyDTV S2) because a
wrong opcode was sent. The box only gave "not implemented" responses.
Changing the opcode to _TUNE_QPSK2 fixes this for good.

With (some) Technisat cards you cannot run multiple DVB applications
in parallel and switch the channel at the same time.
There seems to be a problem on the interfaces or even inside the flexcop-device
that can't handle interruption on the streaming interface.
This patch adds a watchdog to check whether data is supposed to come in
(streaming PIDs are requested) and if no data is seen within 400ms (default) it
resets the streaming/pid-filtering hardware.
This patch is urgently needed to support the rev 2.8 of the hardware and solves
problem occassionally seen on older hardware.

Change by Stefan R: combine it with case case FIREDTV_DVB_S as
originally suggested by Beat Michel. This enables FE_CAN_FEC_AUTO also
for FireDTV-S2 devices which is possible as long as only DVB-S channels
are used. FE_CAN_FEC_AUTO would be wrong for DVB-S2 channels, but those
cannot be used yet since the driver is not yet converted to S2API.

firedtv: reinstate debug logging option
Henrik Kurelid tells me that FCP debug logging (which I removed during
cleanups) is still useful when working on driver issues together with
end users. So bring it back in an updated form with only 60% of the
original code footprint.
Logging can be enabled with
# echo -1 > /sys/module/firedtv/parameters/debug
1 instead of -1 enables only FCP header logging,
2 instead of -1 enables only hexdumps of the entire FCP frames.
0 switches logging off again.

firedtv: dvb demux: some simplifications

firedtv: dvb demux: remove a bogus loop
This loop is unnecessary because
- only active channel[].pid's will be sent to the device,
- when a channel is activated, its pid is set to dvbdmxfeed->pid.
Perhaps the original code was there because it was initially not fully
covered by the fdtv->demux_mutex.
Sun Feb 15 15:33:17 CET 2009

for(k=0;k<16;k++){
if(firesat->channel[k].active == 0)
firesat->channel[k].pid =
dvbdmxfeed->pid;
break;
}
channel = firesat_channel_allocate(firesat);
break;
default:
...

because that seems to be what the author meant.

firedtv: avc: reduce stack usage, remove two typedefs
It is safe to share a memory buffer for command frame and response frame
because the response data come in after the command frame was last used.
