Johannes Berg 11ab35ed04 rt2x00: use DECLARE_EWMA
Instead of using the out-of-line EWMA calculation, use DECLARE_EWMA()
to create static inlines. On x86/64 this results in code that's one
byte larger (for me), but reduces struct link_ant and struct link
size by the two unsigned long values that store the parameters each.

Adrien Schildknecht f10746fef3 rt2x00: adjust EEPROM_SIZE for rt2500usb
rt2500usb_validate_eeprom() read data up to 0x6e (EEPROM_CALIBRATE_OFFSET)
but only 0x6a bytes has been allocated and read from the eeprom.

This lead to out-of-bound accesses and invalid values for
EEPROM_BBPTUNE_R17 and EEPROM_CALIBRATE_OFFSET.

Change the EEPROM_SIZE to 0x6e in order to retrieve all the fields.

Tested with a rt2570 device.

Johannes Berg 30686bf7f5 mac80211: convert HW flags to unsigned long bitmap
As we're running out of hardware capability flags pretty quickly,
convert them to use the regular test_bit() style unsigned long
bitmaps.

This introduces a number of helper functions/macros to set and to
test the bits, along with new debugfs code.

The occurrences of an explicit __clear_bit() are intentional, the
drivers were never supposed to change their supported bits on the
fly. We should investigate changing this to be a per-frame flag.

This support is essentially useless as typically networks are encrypted,
frames will be filtered by hardware, and rate scaling will be done with

monitor mode support should be used instead.

Removing it removes a lot of corner cases.

Linus Torvalds e6b5be2be4 Driver core patches for 3.19-rc1
Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.

They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.

Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.

Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

Stanislaw Gruszka dc50a52a36 Revert "rt2x00: Endless loop on hub port power down"
This reverts commit 2ad69ac597. It
causes wireless device disappear when we get -EPROTO error form USB
request. I encounter such situation occasionally when resume form
suspend with RT3070 adapter:

[ 289.619985] ieee80211 phy0: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x06 failed for offset 0x0404 with error -71
[ 289.639368] ieee80211 phy0: rt2800_wait_bbp_ready: Error - BBP register access failed, aborting
[ 289.639374] ieee80211 phy0: rt2800usb_set_device_state: Error - Device failed to enter state 4 (-5)

Without the patch, except printing error, device works just fine after
resume.

Currently after timeouts and REGISTER_BUSY_COUNT tuning, we should
not have any "endless loop", though we can wait quite long when driver
is trying to communicate with the device through non functioning USB
connection. Generally the problem that commit 2ad69ac597 solves
is kinda artificial.

Stanislaw Gruszka 87dd2d76a9 rt2800: calculate tx power temperature compensation on selected chips
Currently implemented temperature compensation is only valid on some of

need different way to do this (not yet implemented in the rt2800

is not appropriate on particular chip gives bogus result of TX power
and can make connection unstable.

such alignment is not needed on modern H/W.

Patch fixes skb_under_panic problems reported from time to time:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84911
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72471
http://marc.info/?l=linux-wireless&m=139108549530402&w=2
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1087591

Panic happened because we eat 4 bytes of skb headroom on each
(re)transmission when sending frame without the payload and the header
length not being multiple of 4 (i.e. QoS header has 26 bytes). On such
case because paylad_aling=2 is bigger than header_align=0 we increase
header_align by 4 bytes. To prevent that we could change the check to:

	if (payload_length && payload_align > header_align)
		header_align += 4;

but not aligning payload at all is more effective and alignment is not
really needed by H/W (that has been tested on OpenWrt project for few
years now).

Stanislaw Gruszka e9dc51aa2b rt2x00: tune multi-registers I/O timeout
We provide timeout value to rt2x00usb_vendor_request_buff() based on
number of registers to process. That value is passed down to
rt2x00usb_vendor_req_buff_lock() and ends in usb_control_msg(). But we
do not read/write all registers in rt2x00usb_vendor_req_buff_lock() at
once. We read/write them in chunks of 64 bytes in the loop, hence passed
timeout value to low level is too big.

Patch removes timeout argument from rt2x00usb_vendor_request_buff() and
use short REGISTER_TIMEOUT in rt2x00usb_vendor_req_buff_lock(). That
timeout value should be fine for 64 bytes and smaller requests. For
EEPROM read we introduced new timeout value equal to 2 seconds.

Patch fixes process uninterruptible sleep stalls for long period, when
USB bus has problem to satisfy a request and we wait very long time on
usb_start_wait_urb().

Andrea Merello 2c4db12ec4 rt2800usb: Don't perform DMA from stack
Function rt2800usb_autorun_detect() passes the address of a variable
allocated onto the stack to be used for DMA by the USB layer. This has
been caught by my debugging-enabled kernel.

This patch change things in order to allocate that variable via
kmalloc, and it adjusts things to handle the kmalloc failure case,
propagating the error.

Stanislaw Gruszka 616a8394b5 rt2x00: fix rfkill regression on rt2500pci
As reported by Niels, starting rfkill polling during device probe
(commit e2bc7c5, generally sane change) broke rfkill on rt2500pci
device. I considered that bug as some initalization issue, which
should be fixed on rt2500pci specific code. But after several
attempts (see bug report for details) we fail to find working solution.
Hence I decided to revert to old behaviour on rt2500pci to fix
regression.

Additionally patch also unregister rfkill on device remove instead
of ifconfig down, what was another issue introduced by bad commit.

The device 057c:8501 (AVM Fritz! WLAN v2 rev. B) currently does not
