The format of Intel Bluetooth firmware for bootloader product is
ibt-<hw_variant>-<device_revision_id>.sfi and .ddc.
This patch uses a hw_variant value read from the device during
runtime to form the firmware filenames instead of using a constant
value, so it can support multiple prouducts.

Multiple new hardware variants are planned and the simple if statement
would get really complicated and unreadable. So instead replace it with

By moving these client drivers to use RPMSG instead of the direct SMD
API we can reuse them ontop of the newly added GLINK wire-protocol
support found in the 820 and 835 Qualcomm platforms.
As the new (RPMSG-based) and old SMD implementations are mutually
exclusive we have to change all client drivers in one commit, to make
sure we have a working system before and after this transition.

The driver only has runtime but no build time dependency with QCOM_SMD &&

option is enabled.
This is useful to have more build coverage and make sure that the driver
is not affected by changes that could cause build regressions.

The BCM2E96 ID is used by the ECS EF20 laptop, and BCM2E95 is present
in the Weibu F3C. Both are now logged as:
hci0: BCM: chip id 82
hci0: BCM43341B0 (002.001.014) build 0000
hci0: BCM (002.001.014) build 0158
The ECS vendor kernel predates the host-wakeup support in hci_bcm but
it explicitly has a comment saying that the GPIO assignment needs to be
reordered for BCM2E96:
1. (not used in vendor driver)
2. Device wakeup
3. Shutdown
For both devices in question, the DSDT has these GPIOs listed in order
of GpioInt, GpioIo, GpioIo. And if we use the first one listed (GpioInt)
as the host wakeup, that interrupt handler fires while doing bluetooth
I/O.
I am assuming the convention of GPIO ordering has been changed for these
new device IDs, so lets use the new ordering on such devices.

Some onboard BT chips (e.g. Marvell 8997) contain a wakeup pin that
can be connected to a gpio on the CPU side, and can be used to wakeup
the host out-of-band. This can be useful in situations where the
in-band wakeup is not possible or not preferable (e.g. the in-band
wakeup may require the USB host controller to remain active, and
hence consuming more system power during system sleep).
The oob gpio interrupt to be used for wakeup on the CPU side, is
read from the device tree node, (using standard interrupt descriptors).

Send an ACK frame with the current txack value in response to
every received reliable frame unless a TX reliable frame is being
sent. This modification allows re-transmitted frames from the remote
peer to be acknowledged rather than ignored. It means that the remote
peer knows which frame number to start re-transmitting from.
Without this modification, the recovery time to a missing frame
from the remote peer was unnecessarily being extended because the
headers of the out of order reliable frames were being discarded rather
than being processed. The frame headers of received frames will
indicate whether the local peer's transmissions have been
acknowledged by the remote peer. Therefore, the local peer may
unnecessarily re-transmit despite the remote peer already indicating
that the frame had been acknowledged in out of order reliable frame.

The RTL8822BE is a new Realtek wifi and BT device. Support for the BT
part is hereby added.
As this device is similar to most of the other Realtek BT devices, the
changes are minimal. The main difference is that the 8822BE needs a
configuration file for enabling and disabling features. Thus code is
added to select and load this configuration file. Although not needed
at the moment, hooks are added for the other devices that might need
such configuration files.
One additional change is to the routine that tests that the project
ID contained in the firmware matches the hardware. As the project IDs
are not sequential, continuing to use the position in the array as the
expected value of the ID would require adding extra unused entries in
the table, and any subsequant rearrangment of the array would break the
code. To fix these problems, the array elements now contain both the
hardware ID and the expected value for the project ID.

This patch removes module_init()/module_exit() from driver code by using
module_misc_device() macro. All modules in this patch has a print
statement which is removed when module_misc_device() macro is used.
If undesirable this patch can be dropped entirely, this is the only
purpose of making this as a separate patch.

There are actually two issues:
1. Whether "char" is signed or unsigned depends on the architecture.
As the completion callback data is used to pass a (negative) error
code, it should always be signed.
2. EINPROGRESS is 150 on mips, 245 on parisc.
Hence -EINPROGRESS doesn't fit in a signed 8-bit number.
Change the callback status from "char" to "int" to fix these.

The HCI_BREDR naming is confusing since it actually stands for Primary
Bluetooth Controller. Which is a term that has been used in the latest
standard. However from a legacy point of view there only really have
been Basic Rate (BR) and Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). Recent versions of
Bluetooth introduced Low Energy (LE) and made this terminology a little
bit confused since Dual Mode Controllers include BR/EDR and LE. To
simplify this the name HCI_PRIMARY stands for the Primary Controller
which can be a single mode or dual mode controller.

The cause of this is that btmrvl_sdio_host_to_card can access memory region
out of its allocated space due to:
1. the requested block size is smaller than SDIO_BLOCK_SIZE, and/or
2. the allocated memory is not BTSDIO_DMA_ALIGN-aligned.
This patch fixes the issue by allocating a buffer which is big enough for
SDIO_BLOCK_SIZE transfer and/or BTSDIO_DMA_ALIGN address relocation.

The format of Intel Bluetooth firmware filename for bootloader product
is ibt-<hw_variant>-<device_revision_id>.sfi
Currently the driver uses a constant value 11 (0x0b) for hw_variant
to support LnP/SfP product. But new product like WsP product has
a different value such as 12 (0x0c).
To support the multiple products, this patch replaces the constant
value of hw_variant to the actual hw_variant value read from
the device.

hci_vhci driver creates a hci device object dynamically upon each
HCI_VENDOR_PKT write. Although it checks the already created object
and returns an error, it's still racy and may build multiple hci_dev
objects concurrently when parallel writes are performed, as the device
tracks only a single hci_dev object.
This patch introduces a mutex to protect against the concurrent device
creations.

Both vhci_get_user and vhci_release race with open_timeout work. They
both contain cancel_delayed_work_sync, but do not test whether the
work actually created hdev or not. Since the work can be in progress
and _sync will wait for finishing it, we can have data->hdev allocated
when cancel_delayed_work_sync returns. But the call sites do 'if
(data->hdev)' *before* cancel_delayed_work_sync.
As a result:
* vhci_get_user allocates a second hdev and puts it into
data->hdev. The former is leaked.
* vhci_release does not release data->hdev properly as it thinks there
is none.
Fix both cases by moving the actual test *after* the call to
cancel_delayed_work_sync.
This can be hit by this program:
#include <err.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <sys/types.h>
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
int fd;
srand(time(NULL));
while (1) {
const int delta = (rand() % 200 - 100) * 100;
fd = open("/dev/vhci", O_RDWR);
if (fd < 0)
err(1, "open");
usleep(1000000 + delta);
close(fd);
}
return 0;
}
And the result is:

Usually when driver sends data to firmware it receives TX_DONE
(DN_LD_HOST_INT_STATUS) interrupt from firmware right away.
It's also observed that some times the fireware could delay
sending DN_LD_HOST_INT_STATUS interrupt. If driver sends data to
firmware during suspend processing and the TX_DONE interrupt is
delayed, it may come back at wrong time when SDIO host driver is
in the middle of suspending.
Block any data from stack while suspending. Also skip sending
data that are already in driver tx_queue.

The change to bpa10x to use the h4_recv_buf helper added a dependency
on BT_HCIUART. This was incorrectly added to Kconfig by adding a
'select' statement, which now in turn causes build failures
when CONFIG_TTY is not set:
warning: (BT_HCIBPA10X) selects BT_HCIUART which has unmet direct dependencies (NET && BT && TTY)

fpga-mgr.c:(.text+0x282aa0): undefined reference to `n_tty_ioctl_helper'
drivers/built-in.o: In function `hci_uart_flush':
This replaces the 'select BT_HCIUART' dependency with 'depends on', which
does not have this kind of problem. Alternatively, one could add 'depends
on TTY', but avoiding 'select' on user-visible options is generally the
preferred choice as that does not introduce the potential for dependency
loops or incomplete dependency chains.

The commit 7bee8b08c4 allows the Read Verbose Config Info to fail
gracefully and not cause the controller setup to abort. It seems the
reason that command failed in the first place was the missing HCI Reset

the Read Verbose Config Info command is not allowed. Sending HCI Reset

Its a bit odd that debugfs_create_bool() takes 'u32 *' as an argument,
when all it needs is a boolean pointer.
It would be better to update this API to make it accept 'bool *'
instead, as that will make it more consistent and often more convenient.
Over that bool takes just a byte.
That required updates to all user sites as well, in the same commit
updating the API. regmap core was also using
debugfs_{read|write}_file_bool(), directly and variable types were
updated for that to be bool as well.

acpi_match_device() call is needless as driver/platform/acpi core code has
already done the matching before calling the probe and the driver does not
use the returned pointer to matching _HID other than checking is it NULL.

This lock allows "safe use of the line discipline's receive_buf()

SCO packet reassembler may have a fragment of SCO packet, from
previous connection, cached and not removed when SCO connection
is ended. Packets from new SCO connection are then going to be
attached to that fragment, creating an invalid SCO packets.
Controllers like Intel's WilkinsPeak are always fragmenting
SCO packet into 3 parts (#1, #2, #3). Packet #1 contains
SCO header and audio data, others just audio data. if there is
a fragment cached from previous connection, i.e. #1, first
SCO packet from new connection is going to be attached to it
creating packet consisting of fragments #1-#1-#2. This will
be forwarded to upper layers. After that, fragment #3 is going
to be used as a starting point for another SCO packet.
It does not contain a SCO header, but the code expects it,
casts a SCO header structure on it, and reads whatever audio
data happens to be there as SCO packet length and handle.
From that point on, we are assembling random data into SCO
packets. Usually it recovers quickly as initial audio data
contains mostly zeros (muted stream), but setups of over
4 seconds were observed.
Issue manifests itself by printing on the console:
Bluetooth: hci0 SCO packet for unknown connection handle 48
Bluetooth: hci0 SCO packet for unknown connection handle 2560
Bluetooth: hci0 SCO packet for unknown connection handle 12288
It may also show random handles if audio data was non-zeroed.
Hcidump shows SCO packets with random length and handles.
Few messages with handle 0 at connection creation are OK
for some controllers (like WilkinsPeak), as there are SCO packets
with zeroed handle at the beginning (possible controller bug).
Few of such messages at connection end, with a handle looking
sane (around 256, 512, 768 ...) is also OK, as these are last
SCO packets that were assembled and sent up, before connection
was ended, but were not handled in time.
This issue may still manifest itself on WilkinsPeak as it sometimes,
at SCO connection creation, does not send third fragment of first
SCO packet (#1-#2-#1-#2-#3...). This is a firmware bug and this
patch does not address it.

if btmrvl_tx_pkt() is called, and the branch
if (skb_headroom(skb) < BTM_HEADER_LEN)
evaluates positive, a new skb is allocated via skb_realloc_headroom.
The original skb is stored in a tmp variable, before being free'd.
However on success, the new skb, is not free'd, nor is it
returned to the caller which will then double-free the original skb.
This issue exists from the original driver submission in
commit: #132ff4e5fa8dfb71a7d99902f88043113947e972
If this code path had been alive, it would have been noted from the
double-free causing a panic.
All skb's here should be allocated through bt_skb_alloc which
adds 8 bytes as headroom, which is plenty against the 4 bytes
pushed on by this driver.
This code path is dead, and buggy at the same time, so the cleanest
approach is to remove the affected branch.

Add LPM PM suspend/resume/host_wake LPM functions.
A LPM transaction is composed with a LPM request and ack/response.

should respond with a LPM ack.
If resume is requested by the controller (irq), host has to send a LPM
ack once resumed.

A platform device can be used to provide some specific resources in
order to manage the controller. In this first patch we retrieve the
reset gpio which is used to power on/off the controller.
The main issue is to match the current tty with the correct pdev.
In case of ACPI, we can easily find the right tty/pdev pair because
they are both child of the same UART port.
If controller is powered-on from the driver, we need to wait for a
HCI boot event before being able to send any command.

Implement the set_baudrate callback for hci_intel.
- Controller requires a read Intel version command before updating
its baudrate.
- The operation consists in an async cmd since the controller does
not respond at the same speed.
- Wait 100ms to let the controller change its baudrate.
- Clear RTS until we change our own UART speed

btusb currently has a generic match on USB device descriptors:
{ USB_DEVICE_INFO(0xe0, 0x01, 0x01) },
However, http://www.usb.org/developers/defined_class states:
Base Class E0h (Wireless Controller)
This base class is defined for devices that are Wireless controllers.
Values not shown in the table below are reserved. These class codes are
to be used in Interface Descriptors, with the exception of the Bluetooth
class code which can also be used in a Device Descriptor.
Add a match on the interface descriptors accordingly.
This fixes compatibility with the RTL8723AU device shown below.
This device conforms to the USB Interface Association Descriptor
specification, which requires the device to have class ef/02/01.
The extra IAD descriptor then specifies that interfaces 0 and 1
belong to the same function/driver, which is true. Provided that
the Bluetooth device class spec accepts use of the IAD, I imagine that
technically, all btusb devices should be configured like this.

This patch fixes the command length alignment issue for Intel Bluetooth
8260.
The length of parameters in the firmware downloading command must be
multiplication of 4. If not, the command must append Intel_NOP command
with extra parameters, zeros, at the end, and the firmware file is
already included Intel_NOP command for alignment.
This patch checks the next command and if the next command is Intel_NOP
command, it reads the Intel_NOP command and send them together.
For example, if the data from the firmware file looks like this:
8E FC 03 11 22 33 02 FC 03 00 00 00
Previously, btusb sends two commands:
09 FC 06 8E FC 03 11 22 33
09 FC 06 02 FC 03 00 00 00
This won't work because the length of parameters are 6 which violates
the 4 byte alignment.
This patch will append them together and send as one command:
09 FC 0C 8E FC 03 11 22 33 02 FC 03 00 00 00

Firmware loading may reset the controller UART speed and needs to set
host UART speed back to init speed.
UART drivers setup is split in 3 parts:
- btbcm_initialize() resets the controller and returns the firmware
name based on controller revision and sub_version.
- btbtcm_patchram() (already existing and public), which takes the
firmware name as parameter, requests the firmware and loads it to
the controller.
- btbcm_finalize() which resets the controller, reads local version
and checks if the controller address is a default one or not.

- All sorts of cleanups & fixes to ieee802154 and related drivers
- Rework of tx power support in ieee802154 and its drivers
- Support for setting ieee802154 tx power through nl802154
- New IDs for the btusb driver
- Various cleanups & smaller fixes to btusb
- New btrtl driver for Realtec devices
- Fix suspend/resume for Realtek devices
Please let me know if there are any issues pulling. Thanks.

Realtek btusb devices don't currently work after suspend/resume because
the updated firmware is quietly lost - the USB hub doesn't notice any
status change upon resume, but some kind of reset has definitely
happened as the LMP subversion has reverted to its original value.
Set the reset_resume flag to trigger probe and upload the new firmware
again.
Like the vendor code, I assume this is not needed when the device is
selected as a wakeup source and hence will retain power during suspend.
On the 2 products I have to hand, when trying this configuration the
hardware seems unable to keep the device powered up during suspend.
The USB hub then detects a status change on resume and does a reset,
so we do not end up in broken state.

Realtek ship a variety of bluetooth USB devices that identify
themselves with standard USB Bluetooth device class values, but
require a special driver to actually work. Without that driver,
you never get any scan results.
More recently however, Realtek appear to have wisened up and simply
posted a firmware update that makes these devices comply with
normal btusb protocols. The firmware needs to be uploaded on each boot.
Based on Realtek code from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au_bt
('new' branch).
This enables bluetooth support in the Gigabyte Brix GB-BXBT-2807 which
has this RTL8723BE USB device:

The Broadcom firmware files are named with firmware version information
encoded into lmp_subver field. So BCM20702B0_002.001.014.0527.0607.hex
would be represented by 0x410e. To allow for an easier decoding of the
actual firmware names, provide an internal table that does the mapping
and request the firmware file by name.
Bluetooth: hci0: BCM20702B0 (002.001.014) build 0607
Now the complicated encoding of lmp_subver will be decoded and turned
into the name and firmware version information from the firmware files.
The previous attempt of using udev->product failed badly since it never
contains any matching entry to the actual hardware or firmware files
distributed by Broadcom in their Windows drivers. It is even worse since
it can change depending on if the internal bootstrapping happened before
the USB bus enumeration or after. This caused many race conditions.

This patch adds the device shutdown routine for Intel Bluetooth device.
Some platforms have BT LED issue with Intel Bluetooth device that BT LED goes
off 5 seconds after BT is turned off
For Intel Bluetooth device, the BT LED is turned off when:
- there is no active connection or radio activity
- USB is suspend
So, when the BT is turned off, it takes 5 seconds because USB suspend timeone
is 5 seconds by default. And if the USB suspend is not enabled, BT LED won't be
turned off.
To fix this issue, recently Intel Bluetooth firmware patch had been submitted
to turn off the BT LED immediately by the vendor specific command(0xFC3F). And
this patch sends this command to the device before closing the device.
For backward compatibility of this command with old firmware, this command was
supported before, but it behaves same as HCI_RESET internally. So, it won't be
the problem even if the system doesn't have the latest firmware patch.

The test for BTUSB_DOWNLOADING must be after adding to the wait queue
and setting the TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE state. Otherwise the flag may get
cleared after we test for it and we end up getting a timeout since
schedule_timeout() waits for the full duration. This patch uses a
wait_on_bit_timeout() + wake_up_bit(). To perform the task both
race-free as well as in a much simpler way.
Since there's no global wait_on_bit_timeout() helper yet (even though
all the building blocks for it are in place) this patch creates a
temporary local btusb copy of it until the global one has made it to

However newer chips have a bootloader stage and require firmware to
be loaded before they are functional. To avoid any confusion for the
users, just ignore unknown Intel Bluetooth devices.
All the released Intel Bluetooth devices have an entry in the device
table identifying their setup and support requirements. The advantage
here is that older kernel can be booted with newer devices without
causing any disturbance.

New entries to the USB blacklist/quirk device table should be sorted
by USB vendor id. Fix the recent entry fro Marvell devices.

The Intel Bluetooth controllers can provide an additional exception
info string when a hardware error event occurs. The core will now
call hdev->hw_error to let the driver read out this information.
This change will cause a reset of the hardware to bring it back
into functional state and then read the Intel exception info
string and print it along with the error information.

The btusb_disconnect() callback calls hci_unregister_dev() which in turn
calls btusb_close() if the HCI device is powered. The btusb_close()
function in turn will call btusb_free_frags(). It's therefore
unnecessary to have another call to btusb_free_frags() in the
btusb_disconnect() function. Besides the redundancy the second call
seems to also cause some strange stability issues which this patch then
also fixes.

When loading the Intel firmware it can happen that the firmware loading
complete vendor event arrives before the command complete event for the
last firmware fragment.
< HCI Command: Vendor (0x3f|0x0009) plen 7
01 02 fc 03 00 00 00
> HCI Event: Vendor (0xff) plen 5
06 00 00 00 00
> HCI Event: Command Complete (0x0e) plen 4
Vendor (0x3f|0x0009) ncmd 31
Status: Success (0x00)
This is mainly caused by the fact that the vendor command and its
command complete event are transported over the bulk endpoints. The
firmware loading complete event however is send over the interrupt
endpoint. So with just bad timing one event arrives before the other.
Currently the code does not account for it. There are precautions for
receiving firmware loading complete event quickly, but not for receiving
it before the command complete.
Introduce an extra flag that tracks when the firmware sending has
completed from the driver point of view and track the completion of
the firmware loading procedure with a different flag. That way the
wakeup can be handled properly.

Some new upcoming drivers need to process HCI events or take extra
actions based on them before handing the event to the Bluetooth core
for processing. The new recv_event callback allows exactly such an
internal behavior.

Sometimes suspend thread queues a command and wait for it's
response, meanwhile WLAN driver power cycles the card which
leads to crash. This patch makes sure that suspend thread is
woken up in remove path.

When driver is loaded, it is important to know if FW was already
active or it is freshly downloaded. This patch increases the
priority of the message.

btmrvl_remove_card() calls kthread_stop() to stop the main thread,
but kthread_should_stop() is checked when all the activities are done
in the main thread before sleeping.
We will have kthread_should_stop() check as soon as main thread is
woken up. This fixes a crash issue caused due to an invalid memory
access while unnecessarily processing interrupts after card removal.

The Roper Class 1 Bluetooth Dongle is another device that claims to
support Bluetooth 1.2 specification, but does not support the HCI
command for reading the local supported commands.
< HCI Command: Read Local Version Information (0x04|0x0001) plen 0
> HCI Event: Command Complete (0x0e) plen 12
Read Local Version Information (0x04|0x0001) ncmd 1
status 0x00
HCI Version: 1.2 (0x2) HCI Revision: 0x0
LMP Version: 1.2 (0x2) LMP Subversion: 0x757
Manufacturer: Silicon Wave (11)
It clearly claims Bluetooth 1.2 support and in that regard has the
same issue as the AVM BlueFritz! USB devices (Silicon Wave based),
but the HCI Read Local Supported Commands command fails.
< HCI Command: Read Local Supported Commands (0x04|0x0002) plen 0
> HCI Event: Command Status (0x0f) plen 4
Read Local Supported Commands (0x04|0x0002) status 0x01 ncmd 1
Error: Unknown HCI Command

the failing command will be skipped.
