Ravi Bangoria 8f45ca3f8b powerpc/watchpoint: Set CPU_FTR_DAWR1 based on pa-features bit
As per the PAPR, bit 0 of byte 64 in pa-features property indicates
availability of 2nd DAWR registers. i.e. If this bit is set, 2nd
DAWR is present, otherwise not. Host generally uses "cpu-features",
which masks "pa-features". But "cpu-features" are still not used for
guests and thus this change is mostly applicable for guests only.

Aneesh Kumar K.V d3cd91fb8d powerpc/book3s64/pkeys: Add MMU_FTR_PKEY
Parse storage keys related device tree entry in early_init_devtree

MMU feature is used instead of CPU feature because this enables us

Michael Ellerman 912c0a7f2b powerpc/64s: Save FSCR to init_task.thread.fscr after feature init
At boot the FSCR is initialised via one of two paths. On most systems
it's set to a hard coded value in __init_FSCR().

On newer skiboot systems we use the device tree CPU features binding,
where firmware can tell Linux what bits to set in FSCR (and HFSCR).

In both cases the value that's configured at boot is not propagated
into the init_task.thread.fscr value prior to the initial fork of init
(pid 1), which means the value is not used by any processes other than
swapper (the idle task).

For the __init_FSCR() case this is OK, because the value in
init_task.thread.fscr is initialised to something sensible. However it
does mean that the value set in __init_FSCR() is not used other than
for swapper, which is odd and confusing.

The bigger problem is for the device tree CPU features case it
prevents firmware from setting (or clearing) FSCR bits for use by user
space. This means all existing kernels can not have features
enabled/disabled by firmware if those features require
setting/clearing FSCR bits.

We can handle both cases by saving the FSCR value into
init_task.thread.fscr after we have initialised it at boot. This fixes
the bug for device tree CPU features, and will allow us to simplify
the initialisation for the __init_FSCR() case in a future patch.

Leonardo Bras b6eca183e2 powerpc/kernel: Enables memory hot-remove after reboot on pseries guests
While providing guests, it's desirable to resize it's memory on demand.

By now, it's possible to do so by creating a guest with a small base
memory, hot-plugging all the rest, and using 'movable_node' kernel
command-line parameter, which puts all hot-plugged memory in
ZONE_MOVABLE, allowing it to be removed whenever needed.

But there is an issue regarding guest reboot:
If memory is hot-plugged, and then the guest is rebooted, all hot-plugged
memory goes to ZONE_NORMAL, which offers no guaranteed hot-removal.
It usually prevents this memory to be hot-removed from the guest.

It's possible to use device-tree information to fix that behavior, as
it stores flags for LMB ranges on ibm,dynamic-memory-vN.
It involves marking each memblock with the correct flags as hotpluggable
memory, which mm/memblock.c puts in ZONE_MOVABLE during boot if
'movable_node' is passed.

For carrying such information, the new flag DRCONF_MEM_HOTREMOVABLE was
proposed and accepted into Power Architecture documentation.
This flag should be:
- true (b=1) if the hypervisor may want to hot-remove it later, and
- false (b=0) if it does not care.

During boot, guest kernel reads the device-tree, early_init_drmem_lmb()
is called for every added LMBs. Here, checking for this new flag and
marking memblocks as hotplugable memory is enough to get the desirable
behavior.

This should cause no change if 'movable_node' parameter is not passed
in kernel command-line.

Hari Bathini bec53196ad powerpc/fadump: add support to preserve crash data on FADUMP disabled kernel
Add a new kernel config option, CONFIG_PRESERVE_FA_DUMP that ensures
that crash data, from previously crash'ed kernel, is preserved. This
helps in cases where FADump is not enabled but the subsequent memory
preserving kernel boot is likely to process this crash data. One
typical usecase for this config option is petitboot kernel.

As OPAL allows registering address with it in the first kernel and
retrieving it after MPIPL, use it to store the top of boot memory.
A kernel that intends to preserve crash data retrieves it and avoids
using memory beyond this address.

Move arch_reserved_kernel_pages() function as it is needed for both
FA_DUMP and PRESERVE_FA_DUMP configurations.

Aneesh Kumar K.V 6aba0c84ec powerpc/mm: Check memblock_add against MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS range
With SPARSEMEM config enabled, we make sure that we don't add sections beyond
MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS range. This results in not building vmemmap mapping for
range beyond max range. But our memblock layer looks the device tree and create
mapping for the full memory range. Prevent this by checking against
MAX_PHSYSMEM_BITS when doing memblock_add.

We don't do similar check for memeblock_reserve_range. If reserve range is beyond
MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS we expect that to be configured with 'nomap'. Any other
reserved range should come from existing memblock ranges which we already
filtered while adding.

This avoids crash as below when running on a system with system ram config above

libfdt") (Apr 2014), the generic flat device tree code dropped support
for flat device tree's older than version 0x10 (16).

We still have code in our CPU scanning to cope with flat device tree
versions earlier than 2, which can now never trigger, so drop it.

Nathan Fontenot 6c6ea53725 powerpc/mm: Separate ibm, dynamic-memory data from DT format
We currently have code to parse the dynamic reconfiguration LMB
information from the ibm,dynamic-meory device tree property in
multiple locations; numa.c, prom.c, and pseries/hotplug-memory.c.
In anticipation of adding support for a version 2 of the
ibm,dynamic-memory property this patch aims to separate the device
tree information from the device tree format.

Doing this requires a two step process to avoid a possibly very large
bootmem allocation early in boot. During initial boot, new routines
are provided to walk the device tree property and make a call-back
for each LMB.

The second step (introduced in later patches) will allocate an
array of LMB information that can be used directly without needing
to know the DT format.

This approach provides the benefit of consolidating the device tree
property parsing to a single location and (eventually) providing
a common data structure for retrieving LMB information.

This patch introduces a routine to walk the ibm,dynamic-memory
property in the flattened device tree and updates the prom.c code
to use this to initialize memory.

Michael Ellerman 4e00374704 powerpc/64s: Replace CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU_64 with CONFIG_PPC_BOOK3S_64
CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU_64 indicates support for the "standard" powerpc MMU
on 64-bit CPUs. The "standard" MMU refers to the hash page table MMU
found in "server" processors, from IBM mainly.

Currently CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU_64 is == CONFIG_PPC_BOOK3S_64. While it's
annoying to have two symbols that always have the same value, it's not
quite annoying enough to bother removing one.

However with the arrival of Power9, we now have the situation where
CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU_64 is enabled, but the kernel is running using the
Radix MMU - *not* the "standard" MMU. So it is now actively confusing
to use it, because it implies that code is disabled or inactive when
the Radix MMU is in use, however that is not necessarily true.

So s/CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU_64/CONFIG_PPC_BOOK3S_64/, and do some minor
formatting updates of some of the affected lines.

This will be a pain for backports, but c'est la vie.

Michael Ellerman 54820530c5 powerpc/powernv: Enable TM without suspend if possible
Some Power9 revisions can run in a mode where TM operates without
suspended state. If we find ourself on a CPU that might be in this
mode, we query OPAL to check, and if so we reenable TM in CPU
features, and enable a new user feature to signal to userspace that we
are in this mode.

We do not enable the "normal" user feature, PPC_FEATURE2_HTM, but we
do enable PPC_FEATURE2_HTM_NOSC because that indicates to userspace
that the kernel will abort transactions on syscall entry, which is
true regardless of the suspend mode.

Cyril Bur 07fd1761e1 powerpc/tm: Add commandline option to disable hardware transactional memory
Currently the kernel relies on firmware to inform it whether or not the
CPU supports HTM and as long as the kernel was built with
CONFIG_PPC_TRANSACTIONAL_MEM=y then it will allow userspace to make
use of the facility.

There may be situations where it would be advantageous for the kernel
to not allow userspace to use HTM, currently the only way to achieve
this is to recompile the kernel with CONFIG_PPC_TRANSACTIONAL_MEM=n.

This patch adds a simple commandline option so that HTM can be
disabled at boot time.

Michael Neuling d957fb4d17 powerpc: Fix booting P9 hash with CONFIG_PPC_RADIX_MMU=N
Currently if you disable CONFIG_PPC_RADIX_MMU you'll crash on boot on

This patch fixes the problem by stopping MMU_FTR_TYPE_RADIX from being

Thiago Jung Bauermann da6658859b powerpc: Change places using CONFIG_KEXEC to use CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE instead.
Commit 2965faa5e0 ("kexec: split kexec_load syscall from kexec core

the kexec_load system call should be compiled-in and CONFIG_KEXEC_FILE
means whether the kexec_file_load system call should be compiled-in.
These options can be set independently from each other.

Since until now powerpc only supported kexec_load, CONFIG_KEXEC and
CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE were synonyms. That is not the case anymore, so we
need to make a distinction. Almost all places where CONFIG_KEXEC was
being used should be using CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE instead, since
kexec_file_load also needs that code compiled in.

Michael Ellerman e9eb0278da powerpc/64: Used named initialisers for ibm_pa_features
The ibm_pa_features array consists of structures that describe which bit
and byte in the ibm,pa-features property toggles one or more flags in
either the CPU, MMU, or user visible feature flags.

Each one consists of 7 values, which are all unsigned long, int or char,
meaning the compiler gives us no warning if we assign the wrong values
to the wrong elements. In fact we have had a bug here in the past, where
we were setting incorrect bits, see commit 6997e57d69 ("powerpc:
scan_features() updates incorrect bits for REAL_LE").

So switch to using named initialisers for the structure elements, to

Anton Blanchard 6997e57d69 powerpc: scan_features() updates incorrect bits for REAL_LE
The REAL_LE feature entry in the ibm_pa_feature struct is missing an MMU
feature value, meaning all the remaining elements initialise the wrong
values.

This means instead of checking for byte 5, bit 0, we check for byte 0,
bit 0, and then we incorrectly set the CPU feature bit as well as MMU
feature bit 1 and CPU user feature bits 0 and 2 (5).

Checking byte 0 bit 0 (IBM numbering), means we're looking at the
"Memory Management Unit (MMU)" feature - ie. does the CPU have an MMU.
In practice that bit is set on all platforms which have the property.

This means we set CPU_FTR_REAL_LE always. In practice that seems not to
matter because all the modern cpus which have this property also
implement REAL_LE, and we've never needed to disable it.

We're also incorrectly setting MMU feature bit 1, which is:

  #define MMU_FTR_TYPE_8xx		0x00000002

Luckily the only place that looks for MMU_FTR_TYPE_8xx is in Book3E
code, which can't run on the same cpus as scan_features(). So this also
doesn't matter in practice.

Finally in the CPU user feature mask, we're setting bits 0 and 2. Bit 2
is not currently used, and bit 0 is:

  #define PPC_FEATURE_PPC_LE		0x00000001

Which says the CPU supports the old style "PPC Little Endian" mode.
Again this should be harmless in practice as no 64-bit CPUs implement
that mode.

Fix the code by adding the missing initialisation of the MMU feature.

Also add a comment marking CPU user feature bit 2 (0x4) as reserved. It
would be unsafe to start using it as old kernels incorrectly set it.

Daniel Axtens 7f92bc5694 powerpc: sparse: Include headers for __weak symbols
Sometimes when sparse warns about undefined symbols, it isn't
because they should have 'static' added, it's because they're
overriding __weak symbols defined elsewhere, and the header has
been missed.

Fix a few of them by adding appropriate headers.

Christophe Jaillet 1856f50c66 powerpc/prom: Avoid reference to potentially freed memory
of_get_property() is used inside the loop, but then the reference to the
node is dropped before dereferencing the prop pointer, which could by then
point to junk if the node has been freed.

Instead use of_property_read_u32() to actually read the property
value before dropping the reference.

of_property_read_u32() requires at least one cell (u32) to be present,
which is stricter than the old logic which would happily dereference a
property of any size. However we believe all device trees in the wild
have at least one cell.

Skiboot may produce memory nodes with more than one cell, but that is
OK, of_property_read_u32() will return the first one.

Anshuman Khandual 9c61f7a0ad powerpc/prom: Simplify the logic to fetch SLB size
The code to fetch the SLB size from the device tree wants to first look
for "slb-size" and then if that's not found "ibm,slb-size".

We can simplify the code by looking for the properties and then if we
find one of them we set mmu_slb_size.

We also change the function name from check_cpu_slb_size() to
init_mmu_slb_size() as the function doesn't check anything, it only
initialises mmu_slb_size.

Linus Torvalds e3d8238d7f arm64 updates for 4.2, mostly refactoring/clean-up:
- CPU ops and PSCI (Power State Coordination Interface) refactoring
following the merging of the arm64 ACPI support, together with
handling of Trusted (secure) OS instances

 - Using fixmap for permanent FDT mapping, removing the initial dtb
placement requirements (within 512MB from the start of the kernel
image). This required moving the FDT self reservation out of the
   memreserve processing

 - Idmap (1:1 mapping used for MMU on/off) handling clean-up

 - Removing flush_cache_all() - not safe on ARM unless the MMU is off.
Last stages of CPU power down/up are handled by firmware already

 - "Alternatives" (run-time code patching) refactoring and support for
immediate branch patching, GICv3 CPU interface access

 - User faults handling clean-up

 And some fixes:

 - Fix for VDSO building with broken ELF toolchains

 - Fixing another case of init_mm.pgd usage for user mappings (during
   ASID roll-over broadcasting)

 - Fix for FPSIMD reloading after CPU hotplug

 - Fix for missing syscall trace exit

 - Workaround for .inst asm bug

 - Compat fix for switching the user tls tpidr_el0 register
