We define init_utsname() as static but not inline, resulting
in a warning for every source file that includes lockdep.h but
doesn't call it.
Since it is only used by lockdep.c, define it in there.

liblockdep defines trivial macros for working with interrupt flags, as
interrupts are never disabled in userland. This results in warnings
from gcc when -Wunused-but-set-variable is enabled, and it is enabled
by -Wall. Fix this by evaluating the flags parameter and casting it to
void.

liblockdep defines various macros that may expand to an expression
with no effect, while the in-kernel definition does have an effect.
This results in warnings from gcc when -Wunused-value is enabled, and
is is enabled by -Wall. Fix this by introducing trivial functions,
as function return values are generally allowed to be ignored.

liblockdep has been broken since commit 75dd602a51 ("lockdep: Fix
lock_chain::base size"), as that adds a check that MAX_LOCK_DEPTH is
within the range of lock_chain::depth and in liblockdep it is much
too large.
That should have resulted in a compiler error, but didn't because:
- the check uses ARRAY_SIZE(), which isn't yet defined in liblockdep
so is assumed to be an (undeclared) function
- putting a function call inside a BUILD_BUG_ON() expression quietly
turns it into some nonsense involving a variable-length array
It did produce a compiler warning, but I didn't notice because
liblockdep already produces too many warnings if -Wall is enabled
(which I'll fix shortly).
Even before that commit, which reduced lock_chain::depth from 8 bits
to 6, MAX_LOCK_DEPTH was too large.

__lock_pin_lock() now calls prandom_u32() which is not defined in

This saves 32 bytes on my x86-64 build, mostly due to alignment
considerations and sharing more code between find_next_bit and
find_next_zero_bit, but it does save a couple of instructions.
There's really two parts to this commit:
- First, the first half of the test: (!nbits || start >= nbits) is
trivially a subset of the second half, since nbits and start are both
unsigned
- Second, while looking at the disassembly, I noticed that GCC was
predicting the branch taken. Since this is a failure case, it's
clearly the less likely of the two branches, so add an unlikely() to
override GCC's heuristics.

Pull perf updates from Ingo Molnar:
"On the kernel side the main changes in this cycle were:
- Add Intel Kaby Lake CPU support (Srinivas Pandruvada)
- AMD uncore driver updates for fam17 (Janakarajan Natarajan)
- Intel/PT updates and core events optimizations and cleanups
(Alexander Shishkin)
- cgroups events fixes (David Carrillo-Cisneros)
- kprobes improvements (Masami Hiramatsu)
- ... plus misc fixes and updates.
On the tooling side the main changes were:
- Support clang build in tools/{perf,lib/{bpf,traceevent,api}} with
CC=clang, to, for instance, take advantage of better warnings
(Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo):
- Introduce the 'delta-abs' 'perf diff' compute method, that orders
the histogram entries by the absolute value of the percentage delta
for a function in two perf.data files, i.e. the functions that
changed the most (increase or decrease in samples) comes first
(Namhyung Kim)
- Add support for parsing Intel uncore vendor event files and add
uncore vendor events for the Intel server processors (Haswell,
Broadwell, IvyBridge), Xeon Phi (Knights Landing) and Broadwell DE
(Andi Kleen)
- Introduce 'perf ftrace' a perf front end to the kernel's ftrace
function and function_graph tracer, defaulting to the
"function_graph" tracer, more work will be done in reviving this
effort, forward porting it from its initial patch submission
(Namhyung Kim)
- Add 'e' and 'c' hotkeys to expand/collapse call chains for a single
hist entry in the 'perf report' and 'perf top' TUI (Jiri Olsa)
- Account thread wait time (off CPU time) separately: sleep, iowait
and preempt, based on the prev_state of the last event, show the
breakdown when using "perf sched timehist --state" (Namhyumg Kim)
- Add more triggers to switch the output file (perf.data.TIMESTAMP).
Now, in addition to switching to a different output file when
receiving a SIGUSR2, one can also specify file size and time based
triggers:
perf record -a --switch-output=signal
is equivalent to what we had before:
perf record -a --switch-output
While we can also ask for the file to be "sliced" by size, taking
into account that that will happen only when we get woken up by the
kernel, i.e. one has to take into account the --mmap-pages (the
size of the perf mmap ring buffer):
perf record -a --switch-output=2G
will break the perf.data output into multiple files limited to 2GB
of samples, right when generating the output.
For time based samples, alert() will be used, so to have 1 minute
limited perf.data output files:
perf record -a --switch-output=1m
(Jiri Olsa)
- Improve 'perf trace' (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- 'perf kallsyms' toy tool to look for extended symbol information on
the running kernel and demonstrate the machine/thread/symbol APIs
for use in other tools, such as 'perf probe' (Arnaldo Carvalho de
Melo)

Options marked OPTION_UINTEGER or OPTION_U64 clearly indicates that an
unsigned value is expected, so just error out when a negative value is
passed, instead of returning something undesired to the tool.
E.g.:
# perf bench futex hash -t -4
# Running 'futex/hash' benchmark:
Error: switch `t' expects an unsigned numerical value
Usage: perf bench futex hash <options>
-t, --threads <n> Specify amount of threads

If BPF_F_ALLOW_OVERRIDE flag is used in BPF_PROG_ATTACH command
to the given cgroup the descendent cgroup will be able to override
effective bpf program that was inherited from this cgroup.
By default it's not passed, therefore override is disallowed.
Examples:
1.
prog X attached to /A with default
prog Y fails to attach to /A/B and /A/B/C
Everything under /A runs prog X
2.
prog X attached to /A with allow_override.
prog Y fails to attach to /A/B with default (non-override)
prog M attached to /A/B with allow_override.
Everything under /A/B runs prog M only.
3.
prog X attached to /A with allow_override.
prog Y fails to attach to /A with default.
The user has to detach first to switch the mode.
In the future this behavior may be extended with a chain of
non-overridable programs.
Also fix the bug where detach from cgroup where nothing is attached
was not throwing error. Return ENOENT in such case.
Add several testcases and adjust libbpf.

The dynamic-list-file used to export dynamic symbols introduced in
commit e3d09ec812 ("tools lib traceevent: Export dynamic symbols
used by traceevent plugins")
is generated without any sort of error checking.
I experienced problems due to an old version of nm (v 0.158) that outputs
in a format distinct from the assumed by the script.
Robustify the built of dynamic symbol list by enforcing that the second
column of $(NM) -u <files> is either "U" (Undefined), "W" or "w" (undefined
weak), which are the possible outputs from non-ancient $(NM) versions.
Print an error if format is unexpected.
v2: Accept "W" and "w" symbol options.

All events from 'perf list', except SDT events, can be directly recorded
with 'perf record'. But, the flow is little different for SDT events.
Probe points for SDT event needs to be created using 'perf probe' before
recording it using 'perf record'.
Perf shows misleading hint when a user tries to record SDT event without
first creating a probe point. Show proper hint there.
Before patch:
$ perf record -a -e sdt_glib:idle__add
event syntax error: 'sdt_glib:idle__add'
\___ unknown tracepoint
Error: File /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/sdt_glib/idle__add not found.
Hint: Perhaps this kernel misses some CONFIG_ setting to enable this feature?.
...
After patch:
$ perf record -a -e sdt_glib:idle__add
event syntax error: 'sdt_glib:idle__add'
\___ unknown tracepoint
Error: File /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/sdt_glib/idle__add not found.
Hint: SDT event cannot be directly recorded on.
Please first use 'perf probe sdt_glib:idle__add' before recording it.
...
$ perf probe sdt_glib:idle__add
Added new event:
sdt_glib:idle__add (on %idle__add in /usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0.5000.2)
You can now use it in all perf tools, such as:
perf record -e sdt_glib:idle__add -aR sleep 1
$ perf record -a -e sdt_glib:idle__add

Add a new API to pin a BPF object to the filesystem. The user can
specify the path within a BPF filesystem to pin the object.
Programs will be pinned under a subdirectory named the same as the
program, with each instance appearing as a numbered file under that
directory, and maps will be pinned under the path using the name of
the map as the file basename.
For example, with the directory '/sys/fs/bpf/foo' and a BPF object which
contains two instances of a program named 'bar', and a map named 'baz':
/sys/fs/bpf/foo/bar/0
/sys/fs/bpf/foo/bar/1
/sys/fs/bpf/foo/baz

Add new APIs to pin a BPF program (or specific instances) to the
filesystem. The user can specify the path full path within a BPF
filesystem to pin the program.
bpf_program__pin_instance(prog, path, n) will pin the nth instance of
'prog' to the specified path.
bpf_program__pin(prog, path) will create the directory 'path' (if it
does not exist) and pin each instance within that directory. For
instance, path/0, path/1, path/2.
Committer notes:
- Add missing headers for mkdir()
- Check strdup() for failure
- Check snprintf >= size, not >, as == also means truncated, see 'man
snprintf', return value.
- Conditionally define BPF_FS_MAGIC, as it isn't in magic.h in older
systems and we're not yet having a tools/include/uapi/linux/magic.h
copy.

Commit 4708bbda5c ("tools lib bpf: Fix maps resolution") attempted to
fix map resolution by identifying the number of symbols that point to
maps, and using this number to resolve each of the maps.
However, during relocation the original definition of the map size was
still in use. For up to two maps, the calculation was correct if there
was a small difference in size between the map definition in libbpf and
the one that the client library uses. However if the difference was
large, particularly if more than two maps were used in the BPF program,
the relocation would fail.
For example, when using a map definition with size 28, with three maps,
map relocation would count:
(sym_offset / sizeof(struct bpf_map_def) => map_idx)
(0 / 16 => 0), ie map_idx = 0
(28 / 16 => 1), ie map_idx = 1
(56 / 16 => 3), ie map_idx = 3
So, libbpf reports:
libbpf: bpf relocation: map_idx 3 large than 2
Fix map relocation by checking the exact offset of maps when doing
relocation.

This patch adds missing member names to struct initializations.
Although in C99 for struct S {int x, int y} two init codes struct S s =
{.x = (a), (b)} and struct S s = {.x = (a), .y = (b)} are the same, it
is better to explicitly write .y (.argh in this patch) for readability
and robustness against language/compiler evolutions.

Currently, the sched:sched_switch tracepoint reports deadline tasks with
priority -1. But when reading the trace via perf script I've got the
following output:
# ./d & # (d is a deadline task, see [1])
# perf record -e sched:sched_switch -a sleep 1
# perf script
...
swapper 0 [000] 2146.962441: sched:sched_switch: swapper/0:0 [120] R ==> d:2593 [4294967295]
d 2593 [000] 2146.972472: sched:sched_switch: d:2593 [4294967295] R ==> g:2590 [4294967295]
The task d reports the wrong priority [4294967295]. This happens because
the "int prio" is stored in an unsigned long long val. Although it is
set as a %lld, as int is shorter than unsigned long long,
trace_seq_printf prints it as a positive number.
The fix is just to cast the val as an int, and print it as a %d,
as in the sched:sched_switch tracepoint's "format".
The output with the fix is:
# ./d &
# perf record -e sched:sched_switch -a sleep 1
# perf script
...
swapper 0 [000] 4306.374037: sched:sched_switch: swapper/0:0 [120] R ==> d:10941 [-1]
d 10941 [000] 4306.383823: sched:sched_switch: d:10941 [-1] R ==> swapper/0:0 [120]

It is not correct to assimilate the elf data of the maps section to an
array of map definition. In fact the sizes differ. The offset provided
in the symbol section has to be used instead.
This patch fixes a bug causing a elf with two maps not to load
correctly.
Wang Nan added:
This patch requires a name for each BPF map, so array of BPF maps is not
allowed. This restriction is reasonable, because kernel verifier forbid
indexing BPF map from such array unless the index is a fixed value, but
if the index is fixed why not merging it into name?
For example:
Program like this:
...
unsigned long cpu = get_smp_processor_id();
int *pval = map_lookup_elem(&map_array[cpu], &key);
...
Generates bytecode like this:
0: (b7) r1 = 0
1: (63) *(u32 *)(r10 -4) = r1
2: (b7) r1 = 680997
3: (63) *(u32 *)(r10 -8) = r1
4: (85) call 8
5: (67) r0 <<= 4
6: (18) r1 = 0x112dd000
8: (0f) r0 += r1
9: (bf) r2 = r10
10: (07) r2 += -4
11: (bf) r1 = r0
12: (85) call 1
Where instruction 8 is the computation, 8 and 11 render r1 to an invalid
value for function map_lookup_elem, causes verifier report error.

Using the existing EVENT_PARSE_VERSION variable to construct
the .so object version string, which now consists of:
$(EP_VERSION).$(EP_PATCHLEVEL).$(EP_EXTRAVERSION)
Looks like it was created for this purpose anyway.
The build will now produce following traeceevent libraries:
$ ll libtraceevent*
libtraceevent.a
libtraceevent.so -> libtraceevent.so.1.1.0
libtraceevent.so.1 -> libtraceevent.so.1.1.0
libtraceevent.so.1.1.0

$ make DESTDIR=/tmp/krava prefix=/usr install
INSTALL trace_plugins
INSTALL libtraceevent.a
INSTALL libtraceevent.so.1.1.0
$ find /tmp/krava/ | xargs ls -l
...
/tmp/krava/usr/lib64:
total 572
libtraceevent.a
libtraceevent.so -> libtraceevent.so.1.1.0

By using 0 for base, the strtoull() detects the base automatically (see
'man strtoull').
ATM we have just one user of this function, the cpu__get_max_freq
function reading the "cpuinfo_max_freq" sysfs file. It should not get
affected by this change.

We need to include netinet/in.h to get the in6_addr struct definition, needed to
build it on the Android NDK:
In file included from event-parse.c:36:0:
/home/acme/android/android-ndk-r12/platforms/android-24/arch-arm/usr/include/netinet/ip6.h:82:18: error: field 'ip6_src' has incomplete type
struct in6_addr ip6_src; /* source address */
And it is the canonical way of getting IPv6 definitions, as described,
for instance, in Linux's 'man ipv6'
Doing that uncovers another problem: this source file uses PRIu64 but
doesn't include it, depending on it being included by chance via the now
replaced header (netinet/ip6.h), fix it.

Add a 'CPU' special field to allow the filter in trace-cmd report to
filter on the task's CPU.
By adding a special field 'CPU' (all caps) the user can now filter out
tasks based on which CPU they are on. This is useful when filtering out
(or in) a bunch of threads.

The tools so far have been using the strerror_r() GNU variant, that
returns a string, be it the buffer passed or something else.
But that, besides being tricky in cases where we expect that the
function using strerror_r() returns the error formatted in a provided
buffer (we have to check if it returned something else and copy that
instead), breaks the build on systems not using glibc, like Alpine
Linux, where musl libc is used.
So, introduce yet another wrapper, str_error_r(), that has the GNU
interface, but uses the portable XSI variant of strerror_r(), so that
users rest asured that the provided buffer is used and it is what is
returned.

To try to, over time, consistently use the IS_ERR() interface instead of
using two return values, i.e. the integer return value for an error and
the pointer address to return the bpf_map->priv pointer.
Also rename it to bpf__priv(), to leave the "get" term for reference
counting.
Noticed while working on using BPF for collecting non-integer syscall
argument payloads (struct sockaddr in calls such as connect(), for
instance), where we need to use BPF maps and thus generalise
bpf__setup_stdout() to connect bpf_output events with maps in a bpf
proggie.

At the end of process_filter(), collapse_tree() was changed to update
the parg parameter, but the reassignment after the call wasn't removed.
What happens is that the "current_op" gets modified and freed and parg
is assigned to the new allocated argument. But after the call to
collapse_tree(), parg is assigned again to the just freed "current_op",
and this causes the tool to crash.
The current_op variable must also be assigned to NULL in case of error,
otherwise it will cause it to be free()ed twice.

Here on Ubuntu/precise I have GNU/coreutils v8.13 installed
where 'basename -s' is not supported.
The result is that run_tests.sh is not done properly.
How to reproduce:
$ cd $BUILD_DIR
$ LC_ALL=C make -C tools/ liblockdep
$ cd tools/lib/lockdep/
$ LC_ALL=C ./run_tests.sh
basename: invalid option -- 's'
Try `basename --help' for more information.
... timeout: failed to run command `./tests/': Permission denied
FAILED!
rm: cannot remove `tests/': Is a directory
Due to unsupported basename the tests programs are not generated
and cannot be removed.
Fix this by doing a compatible basename invocation and check for
the existence of generated tests programs.

- Remove 'core_id' check in topology 'perf test' (Sukadev Bhattiprolu)
Infrastructure changes/fixes:
- Record text offset in dso to calculate objdump address, to use with
modules in addition to vDSO symbol address calculations (Wang Nan)
- Move utilities.mak from perf to tools/scripts/ (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Add cpumode to the perf_sample struct, this way we don't need to pass
the union event to the machine and thread resolving routines, shortening
function signatures and allowing the future introduction of a way
to use tracepoint events instead of the unavailable HW cycles counter on
powerpc guests in perf kvm by just hooking on perf_evsel__parse_sample,
at the end (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Remove/unexport die() related infrastructure, that at some point will
finally be removed (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Adopt linux/stringify.h from the kernel sources, not to touch this
kernel header from tools/ (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Stop using strbuf for things we can instead trivially use libc's asprintf()
(Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Ditch tools/lib/util/abspath.c, its only exported function was used at just
one place and can be replaced by libc's realpath() (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- Use strerror_r() in the llvm infrastructure, tread safe, its what is used
elsewhere in tools/perf/ (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)

Commit a674533078 ("tools lib traceevent: Split pevent_print_event()
into specific functionality functions") broke apart the function
pevent_print_event() into three functions.
The first function prints the comm, pid and CPU, the second prints the
timestamp.
But that commit added the printing of the CPU in the timestamp function,
which now causes pevent_print_event() to duplicate the CPU output.
Remove the redundant printing of the record's CPU from the timestamp
function.

Pull 'objtool' stack frame validation from Ingo Molnar:
"This tree adds a new kernel build-time object file validation feature
(ONFIG_STACK_VALIDATION=y): kernel stack frame correctness validation.
It was written by and is maintained by Josh Poimboeuf.
The motivation: there's a category of hard to find kernel bugs, most
of them in assembly code (but also occasionally in C code), that
degrades the quality of kernel stack dumps/backtraces. These bugs are
hard to detect at the source code level. Such bugs result in
incorrect/incomplete backtraces most of time - but can also in some
rare cases result in crashes or other undefined behavior.
The build time correctness checking is done via the new 'objtool'
user-space utility that was written for this purpose and which is
hosted in the kernel repository in tools/objtool/. The tool's (very
simple) UI and source code design is shaped after Git and perf and
shares quite a bit of infrastructure with tools/perf (which tooling
infrastructure sharing effort got merged via perf and is already
upstream). Objtool follows the well-known kernel coding style.
Objtool does not try to check .c or .S files, it instead analyzes the
resulting .o generated machine code from first principles: it decodes
the instruction stream and interprets it. (Right now objtool supports
the x86-64 architecture.)
From tools/objtool/Documentation/stack-validation.txt:
"The kernel CONFIG_STACK_VALIDATION option enables a host tool named
objtool which runs at compile time. It has a "check" subcommand
which analyzes every .o file and ensures the validity of its stack
metadata. It enforces a set of rules on asm code and C inline
assembly code so that stack traces can be reliable.
Currently it only checks frame pointer usage, but there are plans to
add CFI validation for C files and CFI generation for asm files.
For each function, it recursively follows all possible code paths
and validates the correct frame pointer state at each instruction.
It also follows code paths involving special sections, like
.altinstructions, __jump_table, and __ex_table, which can add
alternative execution paths to a given instruction (or set of
instructions). Similarly, it knows how to follow switch statements,
for which gcc sometimes uses jump tables."
When this new kernel option is enabled (it's disabled by default), the
tool, if it finds any suspicious assembly code pattern, outputs
warnings in compiler warning format:
warning: objtool: rtlwifi_rate_mapping()+0x2e7: frame pointer state mismatch
warning: objtool: cik_tiling_mode_table_init()+0x6ce: call without frame pointer save/setup
warning: objtool:__schedule()+0x3c0: duplicate frame pointer save
warning: objtool:__schedule()+0x3fd: sibling call from callable instruction with changed frame pointer
... so that scripts that pick up compiler warnings will notice them.
All known warnings triggered by the tool are fixed by the tree, most
of the commits in fact prepare the kernel to be warning-free. Most of
them are bugfixes or cleanups that stand on their own, but there are
also some annotations of 'special' stack frames for justified cases
such entries to JIT-ed code (BPF) or really special boot time code.
There are two other long-term motivations behind this tool as well:
- To improve the quality and reliability of kernel stack frames, so
that they can be used for optimized live patching.
- To create independent infrastructure to check the correctness of
CFI stack frames at build time. CFI debuginfo is notoriously
unreliable and we cannot use it in the kernel as-is without extra
checking done both on the kernel side and on the build side.
The quality of kernel stack frames matters to debuggability as well,
so IMO we can merge this without having to consider the live patching
or CFI debuginfo angle"

perf report/top:
- Hierarchy histogram mode for 'perf top' and 'perf report',
showing multiple levels, one per --sort entry: (Namhyung Kim)
On a mostly idle system:
# perf top --hierarchy -s comm,dso
Then expand some levels and use 'P' to take a snapshot:

- Add 'L' hotkey to dynamicly set the percent threshold for
histogram entries and callchains, i.e. dynamicly do what the
--percent-limit command line option to 'top' and 'report' does.
(Namhyung Kim)
perf mem:
- Allow specifying events via -e in 'perf mem record', also listing
what events can be specified via 'perf mem record -e list' (Jiri

perf record:
- Add 'perf record' --all-user/--all-kernel options, so that one
can tell that all the events in the command line should be
restricted to the user or kernel levels (Jiri Olsa), i.e.:
perf record -e cycles:u,instructions:u
is equivalent to:
perf record --all-user -e cycles,instructions
- Make 'perf record' collect CPU cache info in the perf.data file header:
$ perf record usleep 1
[ perf record: Woken up 1 times to write data ]
[ perf record: Captured and wrote 0.017 MB perf.data (7 samples) ]
$ perf report --header-only -I | tail -10 | head -8
# CPU cache info:

# L1 Instruction 32K [2-3]
# L2 Unified 256K [0-1]
# L2 Unified 256K [2-3]
# L3 Unified 4096K [0-3]
Will be used in 'perf c2c' and eventually in 'perf diff' to
allow, for instance running the same workload in multiple
machines and then when using 'diff' show the hardware difference.
(Jiri Olsa)
- Improved support for Java, using the JVMTI agent library to do
jitdumps that then will be inserted in synthesized

objtool.c:28:19: fatal error: stdio.h: No such file or directory

It fails to build because it tries to compile objtool with the
cross-compiler instead of the host compiler.
Ensure that it always uses the host compiler by ignoring CROSS_COMPILE.
In order to do that properly, the libsubcmd.a library needs to be built
in tools/objtool/ rather than tools/lib/subcmd/. The latter directory
contains the cross-compiled version which is needed for perf and
possibly other tools.
Note that cross-compiling for x86 on a _big_ endian system would result
in a bunch of false positive objtool warnings during the kernel build
because it isn't endian-aware. But that's generally a rare edge case
and there haven't been any reports of anybody needing that.

When a long value is read on 32 bit machines for 64 bit output, the
parsing needs to change "%lu" into "%llu", as the value is read

When rounding to microseconds, if the timestamp subsecond is between
.999999500 and .999999999, it is rounded to .1000000, when it should
instead increment the second counter due to the overflow.
For example, if the timestamp is 1234.999999501 instead of seeing:

Currently there's a single function that is used to display a record's
data in human readable format. That's pevent_print_event().
Unfortunately, this gives little room for adding other output within the
line without updating that function call.
I've decided to split that function into 3 parts.
pevent_print_event_task() which prints the task comm, pid and the CPU
pevent_print_event_time() which outputs the record's timestamp
pevent_print_event_data() which outputs the rest of the event data.
pevent_print_event() now simply calls these three functions.
To save time from doing the search for event from the record's type, I
created a new helper function called pevent_find_event_by_record(),
which returns the record's event, and this event has to be passed to the
above functions.

Add test for AA and 2 threaded ABBA locking.
Rename AA.c to ABA.c since it was implementing an ABA instead of a pure
AA. Now both cases are covered.
The expected output for AA.c is that the process blocks and lockdep
reports a deadlock.
ABBA_2threads.c differs from ABBA.c in that lockdep keeps separate chains
of held locks per task. This can lead to different behaviour regarding
lock detection. The expected output for this test is that the process
blocks and lockdep reports a circular locking dependency.
These tests found a lockdep bug - fixed by the next commit.

Adding support for warning/info/debug output within libapi code. Adding
following macros:
pr_warning(fmt, ...)
pr_info(fmt, ...)
pr_debug(fmt, ...)
Also adding libapi_set_print function to set above functions. This will
be used in perf to set standard debug handlers for libapi.
Adding 2 header files:
debug.h
- to be used outside libapi, contains
libapi_set_print interface
debug-internal.h
- to be used within libapi, contains
pr_warning/pr_info/pr_debug definitions

Libbpf should check the target section before doing relocation to ensure
the relocation is correct. If not, a bug in LLVM causes an error. See
[1]. Also, if an incorrect BPF script uses both global variable and
map, global variable whould be treated as map and be relocated without
error.
This patch saves the id of the map section into obj->efile and compare
target section of a relocation symbol against it during relocation.
Previous patch introduces a test case about this problem. After this

parse-options.h uses the NORETURN macro without defining it. perf
doesn't see a build error because it defines the macro in util.h before
including parse-options.h. But any other tool including it will see an
error.
Define the macro in parse-options.h (if not already defined) so that
other tools can include it.

bpf.c:28:4: error: #error __NR_bpf not defined. libbpf does not support

# error __NR_bpf not defined. libbpf does not support your arch.
^
Fix this by including tools/scripts/Makefile.arch for the proper $ARCH
macro. While at it, remove redundant LP64 macro definition.
Also, since libbpf require $(srctree) now, detect the path of srctree
like perf.

The commit that introduced it should've moved it to the same place, plus
the 'tools/' prefix, but instead moved it to a bogus tools/lib/util/
directory, being the only file there.
Move it to tools/lib/find_bit.c, picking the name for the file where
these routines live since:
8f6f19dd51 ("lib: move find_last_bit to lib/find_next_bit.c")
Next step is to make tools/lib/find_bit.c to differ from lib/find_bit.c
just in removing what is not used by tools/.
