for Tegra186. Currently only HDMI output (the primary output on Jetson

coded variant that was only doing half its job. As a bit of a byproduct
of the Tegra186 support the driver also gained HDMI 2.0 as well as zpos

Geminilake requires the 3D driver to select whether barriers are
intended for compute shaders, or tessellation control shaders, by
whacking a "Barrier Mode" bit in SLICE_COMMON_ECO_CHICKEN1 when
switching pipelines. Failure to do this properly can result in GPU
hangs.
Unfortunately, this means it needs to switch mid-batch, so only
userspace can properly set it. To facilitate this, the kernel needs
to whitelist the register.
The workarounds page currently tags this as applying to Broxton only,
but that doesn't make sense. The documentation for the register it
references says the bit userspace is supposed to toggle only exists on
Geminilake. Empirically, the Mesa patch to toggle this bit appears to
fix intermittent GPU hangs in tessellation control shader barrier tests
on Geminilake; we haven't seen those hangs on Broxton.

The SOR0 found on Tegra124 and Tegra210 only supports eDP and LVDS and
therefore has a slightly different clock tree than the SOR1 which does
not support eDP, but HDMI and DP instead.
Commit e1335e2f0c ("drm/tegra: sor: Reimplement pad clock") breaks
setups with eDP because the sor->clk_out clock is uninitialized and
therefore setting the parent clock (either the safe clock or either of
the display PLLs) fails, which can cause hangs later on since there is
no clock driving the module.
Fix this by falling back to the module clock for sor->clk_out on those
setups. This guarantees that the module will always be clocked by an
enabled clock and hence prevents those hangs.

Buffer objects need to be either pinned or reserved while a map is active,
that's not the case here, so avoid caching the framebuffer map.
This will cause increasing mapping activity mainly when we don't do
page flipping.
This fixes occasional garbage filled screens when the framebuffer has been
evicted after the map.
Since in-kernel mapping of whole buffer objects is error-prone on 32-bit
architectures and also quite inefficient, we will revisit this later.

The ACK/NACK implementation as found in e.g. the G965 has the falling
clock edge and the release of the data line after the ACK for the received
byte happen at the same time.
This is conformant with the I2C specification, which allows a zero hold
time, see footnote [3]: "A device must internally provide a hold time of
at least 300 ns for the SDA signal (with respect to the V IH(min) of the
SCL signal) to bridge the undefined region of the falling edge of SCL."
Some HDMI-to-VGA converters apparently fail to adhere to this requirement
and latch SDA at the falling clock edge, so instead of an ACK
sometimes a NACK is read and the slave (i.e. the EDID ROM) ends the
transfer.
The bitbanging releases the data line for the ACK only 1/4 bit time after
the falling clock edge, so a slave will see the correct value no matter
if it samples at the rising or the falling clock edge or in the center.
Fallback to bitbanging is already done for the CRT connector.

Cursor and overlay planes use a possible_crtcs mask based on the DC pipe

Commit ebae8d0743 ("drm/tegra: dc: Implement legacy blending") broke
support for YUV overlays by accident. The reason is that YUV formats are
considered opaque because they have no alpha component, but on the other
hand no corresponding format with an alpha component can be returned. In
the case of YUV formats, the opaque format is the same as the alpha
format, so add the special case to restore YUV overlay support.

This series builds upon the set of fixes previously submitted to move
Armada DRM closer to atomic modeset. We're nowhere near yet, but this
series helps to get us closer by unifying some of the differences
between the primary and overlay planes.
New features added allows userspace to disable the primary plane if
overlay is full screen and there's nothing obscuring the colorkey -
this saves having to fetch an entire buffer containing nothing but
colorkey when displaying full screen video.

In some iommu, e.g. swiotlb, the available space can be quite limited.
So we employ a trial-and-error approach to seeing if our large
contiguous chunks can fit, and if that fails we try again with smaller
chunks after trying to free our own lazily allocated blobs. As we use a
trial-and-error approach, we do not want dma_map_sg() to emit a WARN of
its own accord, we want to gracefully report the error back to the caller
instead.
Note that our noisy culprit, swiotlb, doesn't honour the flag, yet.

Display WA #1183 was recently added to workaround
"Failures when enabling DPLL0 with eDP link rate 2.16
or 4.32 GHz and CD clock frequency 308.57 or 617.14 MHz
(CDCLK_CTL CD Frequency Select 10b or 11b) used in this
enabling or in previous enabling."
This workaround was designed to minimize the impact only
to save the bad case with that link rates. But HW engineers
indicated that it should be safe to apply broadly, although
they were expecting the DPLL0 link rate to be unchanged on
runtime.
We need to cover 2 cases: when we are in fact enabling DPLL0
and when we are just changing the frequency with small
differences.

All code paths which populate userptr BOs are fine with the get_pages
function taking the mmap_sem lock. This allows to get rid of the pretty
involved architecture with a worker being scheduled if the mmap_sem
needs to be taken, but instead call GUP directly and allow it to take
the lock if necessary.
This simplifies the code a lot and removes the possibility of this
function returning -EAGAIN, which complicates object population
handling at the callers.
A notable change in behavior is that we don't allow a process to populate
objects with user pages from a foreign MM anymore. This would have been an
invalid use before, as it breaks the assumptions made in the etnaviv kernel
driver to enfore cache coherence. We now disallow this by rejecting the
request to populate those objects. Well behaving userspace is unaffected by

The omap4 CEC hardware cannot tell a Nack from a Low Drive from an
Arbitration Lost error, so just report a Nack, which is almost
certainly the reason for the error anyway.
This also simplifies the implementation. The only three interrupts
that need to be enabled are:
Transmit Buffer Full/Empty Change event: triggered when the
transmit finished successfully and cleared the buffer.
Receiver FIFO Not Empty event: triggered when a message was received.
Frame Retransmit Count Exceeded event: triggered when a transmit
failed repeatedly, usually due to the message being Nacked. Other
reasons are possible (Low Drive, Arbitration Lost) but there is no
way to know. If this happens the TX buffer needs to be cleared
manually.
While testing various error conditions I noticed that the hardware
can receive messages up to 18 bytes in total, which exceeds the legal
maximum of 16. This could cause a buffer overflow, so we check for
this and constrain the size to 16 bytes.
The old incorrect interrupt handler could cause the CEC framework to
enter into a bad state because it mis-detected the "Start Bit Irregularity
event" as an ARB_LOST transmit error when it actually is a receive error
which should be ignored.

We have plenty of global registers and whatnot programmed without
any further locking by the modeset code. Currently non-bocking
modesets are allowed to execute in parallel which could corrupt
said registers.
To avoid the problem let's run all non-blocking modesets on an
ordered workqueue. We still put page flips etc. to system_unbound_wq
allowing page flips on one pipe to execute in parallel with page flips
or a modeset on a another pipe (assuming no known state is shared
between them, at which point they would have been added to the same
atomic commit and serialized that way).
Blocking modesets are already serialized with each other by
connection_mutex, and thus are safe. To serialize them with
non-blocking modesets we just flush the workqueue before executing
blocking modesets.

Exynos DRM IPP subsystem is in fact non-functional and frankly speaking
dead-code. This patch clearly marks that Exynos DRM IPP subsystem is
broken and never really functional. It will be replaced by a completely
rewritten API.
Exynos DRM IPP user-space API can be obsoleted for the following
reasons:
1. Exynos DRM IPP user-space API can be optional in Exynos DRM, so
userspace should not rely that it is always available and should have
a software fallback in case it is not there.
2. The only mode which was initially semi-working was memory-to-memory
image processing. The remaining modes (LCD-"writeback" and "output")
were never operational due to missing code (both in mainline and even
vendor kernels).
3. Exynos DRM IPP mainline user-space API compatibility for
memory-to-memory got broken very early by commit 083500baef ("drm:
remove DRM_FORMAT_NV12MT", which removed the support for tiled formats,
the main feature which made this API somehow useful on Exynos platforms
(video codec that time produced only tiled frames, to implement xvideo
or any other video overlay, one has to de-tile them for proper
display).
4. Broken drivers. Especially once support for IOMMU has been added,
it revealed that drivers don't configure DMA operations properly and in
many cases operate outside the provided buffers trashing memory around.
5. Need for external patches. Although IPP user-space API has been used
in some vendor kernels, but in such cases there were additional patches
applied (like reverting mentioned 083500baef patch) what means that
those userspace apps which might use it, still won't work with the
mainline kernel version.
We don't have time machines, so we cannot change it, but Exynos DRM IPP
extension should never have been merged to mainline in that form.
Exynos IPP subsystem and user-space API will be rewritten, so remove
current IPP core code and mark existing drivers as BROKEN.

At least on the Chuwi Vi8 (non pro/plus) the LCD panel will show an image
shifted aprox. 20% to the left (with wraparound) and sometimes also wrong
colors, showing that the panel controller is starting with sampling the
datastream somewhere mid-line. This happens after the first blanking and
re-init of the panel.
After looking at drm.debug output I noticed that initially we inherit the
cdclk of 333333 KHz set by the GOP, but after the re-init we picked 266667
KHz, which turns out to be the cause of this problem, a quick hack to hard
code the cdclk to 333333 KHz makes the problem go away.
I've tested this on various Bay Trail devices, to make sure this not does
cause regressions on other devices and the higher cdclk does not cause
any problems on the following devices:
-GP-electronic T701 1024x600 333333 KHz cdclk after this patch
-PEAQ C1010 1920x1200 333333 KHz cdclk after this patch
-PoV mobii-wintab-800w 800x1280 333333 KHz cdclk after this patch
-Asus Transformer-T100TA 1368x768 320000 KHz cdclk after this patch
Also interesting wrt this is the comment in vlv_calc_cdclk about the
existing workaround to avoid 200 Mhz as clock because that causes issues
in some cases.
This commit extends the "do not use 200 Mhz" workaround with an extra
check to require atleast 320000 KHz (avoiding 266667 KHz) when a DSI
panel is active.

This workaround was designed to minimize the impact only
to save the bad case with that link rates. But HW engineers
indicated that it should be safe to apply broadly, although
they were expecting the DPLL0 link rate to be unchanged on
runtime.
We need to cover 2 cases: when we are in fact enabling DPLL0

differences.

We should only attempt to remove requests from the execution queue that
are on the execution queue. These are the requests that have been
assigned a global_seqno, so we can assert that we only attempt to remove
requests with a nonzero global_seqno. Afterwards we assert that we
remove them in order, i.e. the global_seqno matches the engine's seqno,
but that leaves a small loophole for an unattached request on an unused
engine.
We can then make the same assertion on queuing the request to the

To serialize them with
non-blocking modesets we just flush the workqueue before executing
blocking modesets.

the KVM hypervisor doesn't support VEX-prefix instructions emulation.
If users passthrough a GPU to guest with vfio option 'x-no-mmap=on',
then all access to the BARs will be trapped and emulated. The KVM
hypervisor would raise an inertal error to qemu which cause the guest
killed. (Since 'movntdqa' ins is not supported.)

In order to support IOMMUs more generically and transparently handle the
ARM SMMU on Tegra186, move to using groups instead of devices for domain
attachment. An IOMMU group is a set of devices that share the same IOMMU
domain and is therefore a good match to represent what Tegra DRM needs.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Use IOMMU groups to attach the host1x device to its IOMMU domain. This
is not strictly necessary because the domain isn't shared with any other
device, but it makes the code consistent with how IOMMU is handled in
other drivers and provides an easy way to detect when no IOMMU has been
attached via device tree.

The spinlock is only used to serialize accesses to the DC_CMD_INT_MASK
register. However, this register is accesses either with interrupts
masked (in tegra_crtc_atomic_enable()) or protected by the vbl_lock and
vblank_time_lock spinlocks of the DRM device. Therefore, these accesses
don't need any extra serialization and the lock can be removed.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Traditionally, windows were accessed indirectly, through a register
selection window that required a global register to be programmed with
the index of the window to access. Since the global register could be
written from modesetting functions as well as the interrupt handler
concurrently, accesses had to be serialized using a lock. Using direct
accesses to the window registers the lock can be avoided.

Also, split up formats into per-SoC lists because not all generations
support all of them. Note that the list is now exhaustive for all RGB
formats, but not for YUV and indexed formats.

We don't need any active planes during load detection, so just disable

validate_fbc never fails a modeset. It's simply used to decide whether
to use FBC or not. Calling it validate_fbc might be confusing to some so
rename it to should_enable_fbc.
With that let's also remove the DC_STATUS return code and return bool
and make enable_fbc a void function since we never check it's return

Add helper for initializing fbdev deferred I/O.
The cleanup could have happened in drm_fb_helper_fini(), but that would
have required me to set fb_info->fbdefio to NULL in a couple of drivers
before they call _fini() to avoid double defio cleanup. The problem is
that one of those is vboxvideo which lives in Greg's staging tree.
So I put the cleanup in drm_fb_helper_fbdev_teardown(), not perfect
but not that bad either.

the ref.

When attached to the connector, the mode_valid callback will only filter
the modes provided by the connector itself as part of its probe.
However, it will not be doing it when the mode is provided by the
userspace, which still might result in a broken configuration.
In order to enforce these constraints, move our mode_valid callback to the
encoder which doesn't have this behaviour.
