Damien Lespiau 658ac4c6a2 drm/i915: Disable display when fused off
FUSE_STRAP has a bit to inform us that the display has been fused off.
Use it to setup the definitive number of pipes at run-time.

Damien Lespiau 22d3fd4600 drm/i915: Move num_plane to the intel_device_info structure
And rename it to num_sprites as this value doesn't count the primary
plane.

This limit lives with num_pipes really, and now that dev_priv->info is
writable we can put it there instead.

While at it, introduce a intel_device_info_runtime_init() where we'll be
able to gather the device info fields at run-time.

Damien Lespiau 5c969aa7e1 drm/i915: Make the intel_device_info structure kept in dev_priv writable
Turns out it'd be nice to change some device information at run-time or simply
have some code to fill in the info struct instead of having to declare the
values in 30+ structures.

What prompted this change is handling fused out display/pipe and tweaking
num_pipes at run-time, but I'm quite sure we'll find other flags/limits to
stick into dev_priv->info.

Most of the changes were done with a sed:
sed -i -e 's/dev_priv->info->/dev_priv->info./g' drivers/gpu/drm/i915/*[ch]

with a few tweaks to make it all work:
- Change the field definition in struct drm_i915_private
- adjust i915_dump_device_info()
- adjust i915_driver_load()
- adjust the INTEL_INFO() macro

v2: cast the info pointer returned by INTEL_INFO() to be const to catch
uses that would modify the structure post-initialization.
    (Ville Syrjälä)

v3: Redo the patch onto latest drm-nightly,
Keep the info field const to catch post initialization writes
    instead of the v2 solution,
Use a direct structure copy for the initial info initialization to
use the compiler type safety (Ville Syrjälä)

Ben Widawsky 7e0d96bc03 drm/i915: Use multiple VMs -- the point of no return
As with processes which run on the CPU, the goal of multiple VMs is to
provide process isolation. Specific to GEN, there is also the ability to
map more objects per process (2GB each instead of 2Gb-2k total).

For the most part, all the pipes have been laid, and all we need to do
is remove asserts and actually start changing address spaces with the
context switch. Since prior to this we've converted the setting of the
page tables to a streamed version, this is quite easy.

One important thing to point out (since it'd been hotly contested) is
that with this patch, every context created will have it's own address
space (provided the HW can do it).

v2: Disable BDW on rebase

NOTE: I tried to make this commit as small as possible. I needed one
place where I could "turn everything on" and that is here. It could be
split into finer commits, but I didn't really see much point.

Ben Widawsky bdf4fd7ea0 drm/i915: Do aliasing PPGTT init with contexts
We have a default context which suits the aliasing PPGTT well. Tie them
together so it looks like any other context/PPGTT pair. This makes the
code cleaner as it won't have to special case aliasing as often.

The patch has one slightly tricky part in the default context creation
function. In the future (and on aliased setup) we create a new VM for a
context (potentially). However, if we have aliasing PPGTT, which occurs
at this point in time for all platforms GEN6+, we can simply manage the
refcounting to allow things to behave as normal. Now is a good time to
recall that the aliasing_ppgtt doesn't have a real VM, it uses the GGTT
drm_mm.

Daniel Vetter 6c719faca2 drm/i915: don't update the dri1 breadcrumb with modesetting
The update is horribly racy since it doesn't protect at all against
concurrent closing of the master fd. And it can't really since that
requires us to grab a mutex.

Instead of jumping through hoops and offloading this to a worker
thread just block this bit of code for the modesetting driver.

Note that the race is fairly easy to hit since we call the breadcrumb
function for any interrupt. So the vblank interrupt (which usually
keeps going for a bit) is enough. But even if we'd block this and only
update the breadcrumb for user interrupts from the CS we could hit
this race with kms/gem userspace: If a non-master is waiting somewhere
(and hence has interrupts enabled) and the master closes its fd
(probably due to crashing).

v2: Add a code comment to explain why fixing this for real isn't
really worth it. Also improve the commit message a bit.

Paulo Zanoni 8a1874559f drm/i915: add initial Runtime PM functions
This patch adds the initial infrastructure to allow a Runtime PM
implementation that sets the device to its D3 state. The patch just
adds the necessary callbacks and the initial infrastructure.

We still don't have any platform that actually uses this
infrastructure, we still don't call get/put in all the places we need
to, and we don't have any function to save/restore the state of the
registers. This is not a problem since no platform uses the code added
by this patch. We have a few people simultaneously working on runtime
PM, so this initial code could help everybody make their plans.

V2: - Move some functions to intel_pm.c
    - Remove useless pm_runtime_allow() call at init

Daniel Vetter 7f16e5c141 Merge tag 'v3.12' into drm-intel-next
I want to merge in the new Broadwell support as a late hw enabling
pull request. But since the internal branch was based upon our
drm-intel-nightly integration branch I need to resolve all the
oustanding conflicts in drm/i915 with a backmerge to make the 60+
patches apply properly.

We'll propably have some fun because Linus will come up with a
slightly different merge solution.

Conflicts:
	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_dma.c
	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_drv.c
	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_crt.c

	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c
	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_dp.c
	drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_drv.h

All rather simple adjacent lines changed or partial backports from
-next to -fixes, with the exception of the thaw code in i915_dma.c.
That one needed a bit of shuffling to restore the intent.

Similarly rename the other related functions in the power domain
interface.

Higher level driver code calling these functions knows only about power
domains, not the underlying power wells which may be different on
different platforms. Also these functions really init/cleanup/resume
power domains and only through that all related power wells, so rename
them accordingly.

Note that I left i915_{request,release}_power_well as is, since that
really changes the state only of a single power well (and is HSW
specific). It should also get a better name once we make it more

Imre Deak baa707073b drm/i915: use power get/put instead of set for power on after init
Currently we make sure that all power domains are enabled during driver
init and turn off unneded ones only after the first modeset. Similarly
during suspend we enable all power domains, which will remain on through
the following resume until the first modeset.

This logic is supported by intel_set_power_well() in the power domain
framework. It would be nice to simplify the API, so that we only have
get/put functions and make it more explicit on the higher level how this
"power well on during init" logic works. This will make it also easier
if in the future we want to shorten the time the power wells are on.

For this add a new device private flag tracking whether we have the
power wells on because of init/suspend and use only
intel_display_power_get()/put(). As nothing else uses
intel_set_power_well() we can remove it.

Chris Wilson 45c5f2022c drm/i915: Disable all GEM timers and work on unload
We have two once very similar functions, i915_gpu_idle() and
i915_gem_idle(). The former is used as the lower level operation to
flush work on the GPU, whereas the latter is the high level interface to
flush the GEM bookkeeping in addition to flushing the GPU. As such
i915_gem_idle() also clears out the request and activity lists and
cancels the delayed work. This is what we need for unloading the driver,
unfortunately we called i915_gpu_idle() instead.

In the process, make sure that when cancelling the delayed work and
timer, which is synchronous, that we do not hold any locks to prevent a
deadlock if the work item is already waiting upon the mutex. This
requires us to push the mutex down from the caller to i915_gem_idle().

seq_file is not quite the right interface for these ones. We have a

Dave Airlie ebff5fa9d5 Revert "i915: Update VGA arbiter support for newer devices"
This reverts commit 81b5c7bc8d.

Adding drm/i915 into the vga arbiter chain means that X (in a piece of
well-meant paranoia) will do a get/put on the vga decoding around
_every_ accel call down into the ddx. Which results in some nice
performance disasters [1]. This really breaks userspace, by disabling
DRI for everyone, and stops OpenGL from working, this isn't limited
to just the i915 but both the integrated and discrete GPUs on
multi-gpu systems, in other words this causes untold worlds of pain,

Ville tried to come up with a Great Hack to fiddle the required VGA
I/O ops behind everyone's back using stop_machine, but that didn't
really work out [2]. Given that we're fairly late in the -rc stage for
such games let's just revert this all.

One thing we might want to keep is to delay the disabling of the vga
decoding until the fbdev emulation and the fbcon screen is set up. If
we kill vga mem decoding beforehand fbcon can end up with a white
square in the top-left corner it tried to save from the vga memory for
a seamless transition. And we have bug reports on older platforms
which seem to match these symptoms.

But again that's something to play around with in -next.

Chris Wilson b29c19b645 drm/i915: Boost RPS frequency for CPU stalls
If we encounter a situation where the CPU blocks waiting for results
from the GPU, give the GPU a kick to boost its the frequency.

This should work to reduce user interface stalls and to quickly promote
mesa to high frequencies - but the cost is that our requested frequency
stalls high (as we do not idle for long enough before rc6 to start
reducing frequencies, nor are we aggressive at down clocking an
underused GPU). However, this should be mitigated by rc6 itself powering
off the GPU when idle, and that energy use is dependent upon the workload
of the GPU in addition to its frequency (e.g. the math or sampler
functions only consume power when used). Still, this is likely to
adversely affect light workloads.

In particular, this nearly eliminates the highly noticeable wake-up lag
in animations from idle. For example, expose or workspace transitions.
(However, given the situation where we fail to downclock, our requested
frequency is almost always the maximum, except for Baytrail where we
manually downclock upon idling. This often masks the latency of
upclocking after being idle, so animations are typically smooth - at the
cost of increased power consumption.)

Stéphane raised the concern that this will punish good applications and
reward bad applications - but due to the nature of how mesa performs its
client throttling, I believe all mesa applications will be roughly
equally affected. To address this concern, and to prevent applications
like compositors from permanently boosting the RPS state, we ratelimit the
frequency of the wait-boosts each client recieves.

Unfortunately, this techinique is ineffective with Ironlake - which also
has dynamic render power states and suffers just as dramatically. For
Ironlake, the thermal/power headroom is shared with the CPU through
Intelligent Power Sharing and the intel-ips module. This leaves us with
no GPU boost frequencies available when coming out of idle, and due to
hardware limitations we cannot change the arbitration between the CPU and
GPU quickly enough to be effective.

v2: Limit each client to receiving a single boost for each active period.
Tested by QA to only marginally increase power, and to demonstrably
increase throughput in games. No latency measurements yet.

v3: Cater for front-buffer rendering with manual throttling.

v4: Tidy up.

v5: Sadly the compositor needs frequent boosts as it may never idle, but
due to its picking mechanism (using ReadPixels) may require frequent
waits. Those waits, along with the waits for the vrefresh swap, conspire
to keep the GPU at low frequencies despite the interactive latency. To
overcome this we ditch the one-boost-per-active-period and just ratelimit
the number of wait-boosts each client can receive.

VGA registers live inside the power well on HSW, so in order to write
the VGA MSR register we need the power well to be on.

We really must write to the register to properly clear the

If we leave VGA memory decode enabled, and then turn off the power well,
all VGA memory reads will return zeroes. But if we first disable VGA

Dave Chinner 7dc19d5aff drivers: convert shrinkers to new count/scan API
Convert the driver shrinkers to the new API. Most changes are compile
tested only because I either don't have the hardware or it's staging
stuff.

FWIW, the md and android code is pretty good, but the rest of it makes me
want to claw my eyes out. The amount of broken code I just encountered is
mind boggling. I've added comments explaining what is broken, but I fear
that some of the code would be best dealt with by being dragged behind the
bike shed, burying in mud up to it's neck and then run over repeatedly
with a blunt lawn mower.

Special mention goes to the zcache/zcache2 drivers. They can't co-exist
in the build at the same time, they are under different menu options in
menuconfig, they only show up when you've got the right set of mm
subsystem options configured and so even compile testing is an exercise in
pulling teeth. And that doesn't even take into account the horrible,
broken code...

Chris Wilson 092467327c drm/i915: Write RING_TAIL once per-request
Ignoring the legacy DRI1 code, and a couple of special cases (to be
discussed later), all access to the ring is mediated through requests.
The first write to a ring will grab a seqno and mark the ring as having
an outstanding_lazy_request. Either through explicitly adding a request
after an execbuffer or through an implicit wait (either by the CPU or by
a semaphore), that sequence of writes will be terminated with a request.
So we can ellide all the intervening writes to the tail register and
send the entire command stream to the GPU at once. This will reduce the
number of *serialising* writes to the tail register by a factor or 3-5
times (depending upon architecture and number of workarounds, context
switches, etc involved). This becomes even more noticeable when the
register write is overloaded with a number of debugging tools. The
astute reader will wonder if it is then possible to overflow the ring
with a single command. It is not. When we start a command sequence to
the ring, we check for available space and issue a wait in case we have
not. The ring wait will in this case be forced to flush the outstanding
register write and then poll the ACTHD for sufficient space to continue.

The exception to the rule where everything is inside a request are a few
initialisation cases where we may want to write GPU commands via the CS
before userspace wakes up and page flips.

 commit 81b5c7bc8d
 Author: Alex Williamson <alex.williamson@redhat.com>
 Date: Wed Aug 28 09:39:08 2013 -0600

i915: Update VGA arbiter support for newer devices

caused i915 to disable VGA memory decode for the IGD when i915 is
initializing. Unfortunately that happens before the vgacon->fbcon
handoff so vgacon_save_screen() will read out all ones from the
VGA memory.

After the handoff fbcon will inherit the bogus state from vgacon,
and pre-fills the fb with matching contents. The end result is
a white rectangle in the top left corner of the screen, the size
of which matches the now inactive VGA console.

To remedy the situation delay the disabling of VGA memory until
the vgacon->fbcon handoff has happened.

Also rename i915_enable_vga to i915_enable_vga_mem to make
the relationship between these functions clearer.

Alex Williamson 81b5c7bc8d i915: Update VGA arbiter support for newer devices
This is intended to add VGA arbiter support for Intel HD graphics on
Core processors. The old GMCH registers no longer exist, so even
though it appears that i915 participates in VGA arbitration, it doesn't
work. On Intel HD graphics we already attempt to disable VGA regions
of the device. This makes registering as a VGA client unnecessary since
we don't intend to operate differently depending on how many VGA devices
are present. We can disable VGA memory regions by clearing the memory
enable bit in the VGA MSR. That only leaves VGA IO, which we update
the VGA arbiter to know that we don't participate in VGA memory
arbitration. We also add a hook on unload to re-enable memory and
reinstate VGA memory arbitration.

v3: Use explicit LEGACY_IO | LEGACY_MEM when restoring rather than
    LEGACY_MASK, per Ville's comments.

v2: I915_READ/WRITE accessors don't work in i915_disable_vga, use inb/outb
directly. Also, on the driver unbind VGA enable path, acquire legacy
IO to re-enable VGA memory. Correct comment.

Dave Airlie 0d69704ae3 gpu/vga_switcheroo: add driver control power feature. (v3)
For optimus and powerxpress muxless we really want the GPU
driver deciding when to power up/down the GPU, not userspace.

This adds the ability for a driver to dynamically power up/down
the GPU and remove the switcheroo from controlling it, the
switcheroo reports the dynamic state to userspace also.

It also adds 2 power domains, one for machine where the power
switch is controlled outside the GPU D3 state, so the powerdown
ordering is done correctly, and the second for the hdmi audio
device to make sure it can resume for PCI config space accesses.

v1.1: fix build with switcheroo off

v2: add power domain support for radeon and v1 nvidia dsms
v2.1: fix typo in off case

v3: add audio power domain for hdmi audio + misc audio fixes

Paulo Zanoni c67a470b1d drm/i915: allow package C8+ states on Haswell (disabled)
This patch allows PC8+ states on Haswell. These states can only be
reached when all the display outputs are disabled, and they allow some
more power savings.

The fact that the graphics device is allowing PC8+ doesn't mean that
the machine will actually enter PC8+: all the other devices also need
to allow PC8+.

For now this option is disabled by default. You need i915.allow_pc8=1
if you want it.

This patch adds a big comment inside i915_drv.h explaining how it
works and how it tracks things. Read it.

v2: (this is not really v2, many previous versions were already sent,
     but they had different names)
    - Use the new functions to enable/disable GTIMR and GEN6_PMIMR
    - Rename almost all variables and functions to names suggested by
      Chris
    - More WARNs on the IRQ handling code
    - Also disable PC8 when there's GPU work to do (thanks to Ben for
the help on this), so apps can run caster
    - Enable PC8 on a delayed work function that is delayed for 5
seconds. This makes sure we only enable PC8+ if we're really
      idle
    - Make sure we're not in PC8+ when suspending
v3: - WARN if IRQs are disabled on __wait_seqno
    - Replace some DRM_ERRORs with WARNs
    - Fix calls to restore GT and PM interrupts
    - Use intel_mark_busy instead of intel_ring_advance to disable PC8
v4: - Use the force_wake, Luke!
v5: - Remove the "IIR is not zero" WARNs
    - Move the force_wake chunk to its own patch
    - Only restore what's missing from RC6, not everything

Paulo Zanoni 79f8dea133 drm/i915: enable the power well before module unload
Our driver initialization doesn't seem to be ready to load when the
power well is disabled: we hit a few "Unclaimed register" messages. So
do just like we already do for the suspend/resume path: enable the

a reason to refuse loading our driver. But I do see a reason to reject
bug reports from these machines, so the message should help the bug

Chris Wilson 651d794fae drm/i915: Use Write-Through cacheing for the display plane on Iris
Haswell GT3e has the unique feature of supporting Write-Through cacheing
of objects within the eLLC/LLC. The purpose of this is to enable the display
plane to remain coherent whilst objects lie resident in the eLLC/LLC - so
that we, in theory, get the best of both worlds, perfect display and fast
access.

However, we still need to be careful as the CPU does not see the WT when
accessing the cache. In particular, this means that we need to flush the
cache lines after writing to an object through the CPU, and on
transitioning from a cached state to WT.

v2: Actually do the clflush on transition to WT, nagging by Ville.
v3: Flush the CPU cache after writes into WT objects.
v4: Rease onto LLC updates and report WT as "uncached" for
get_cache_level_ioctl to remain symmetric with set_cache_level_ioctl.

Rafael J. Wysocki 8e5c2b776a Revert "ACPI / video / i915: No ACPI backlight if firmware expects Windows 8"
We attempted to address a regression introduced by commit a57f7f9
(ACPICA: Add Windows8/Server2012 string for _OSI method.) after which
ACPI video backlight support doesn't work on a number of systems,
because the relevant AML methods in the ACPI tables in their BIOSes
become useless after the BIOS has been told that the OS is compatible
with Windows 8. That problem is tracked by the bug entry at:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51231

Commit 8c5bd7a (ACPI / video / i915: No ACPI backlight if firmware
expects Windows 8) introduced for this purpose essentially prevented
the ACPI backlight support from being used if the BIOS had been told
that the OS was compatible with Windows 8 and the i915 driver was
loaded, in which case the backlight would always be handled by i915.
Unfortunately, however, that turned out to cause problems with
backlight to appear on multiple systems with symptoms indicating that
i915 was unable to control the backlight on those systems as
expected.

For this reason, revert commit 8c5bd7a, but leave the function
acpi_video_backlight_quirks() introduced by it, because another
commit on top of it uses that function.

unintentionally also changed the init sequence ordering between

nasty dmesg noise like

initialized (which isn't the case here) call it sanitze instead.

While at it also block out the rps disable introduced by the above
commit on ilk: We don't have any knowledge of ilk rps being broken in
similar ways. And the disable functions uses the default hw state
which is only read out when we're enabling rps. So essentially we've

Rafael J. Wysocki 8c5bd7adb2 ACPI / video / i915: No ACPI backlight if firmware expects Windows 8
According to Matthew Garrett, "Windows 8 leaves backlight control up
to individual graphics drivers rather than making ACPI calls itself.
There's plenty of evidence to suggest that the Intel driver for
Windows [8] doesn't use the ACPI interface, including the fact that
it's broken on a bunch of machines when the OS claims to support
Windows 8. The simplest thing to do appears to be to disable the
ACPI backlight interface on these systems".

There's a problem with that approach, however, because simply
avoiding to register the ACPI backlight interface if the firmware
calls _OSI for Windows 8 may not work in the following situations:
 (1) The ACPI backlight interface actually works on the given system
and the i915 driver is not loaded (e.g. another graphics driver
     is used).
 (2) The ACPI backlight interface doesn't work on the given system,
but there is a vendor platform driver that will register its
own, equally broken, backlight interface if not prevented from
doing so by the ACPI subsystem.
Therefore we need to allow the ACPI backlight interface to be
registered until the i915 driver is loaded which then will unregister
it if the firmware has called _OSI for Windows 8 (or will register
the ACPI video driver without backlight support if not already
present).

For this reason, introduce an alternative function for registering
ACPI video, acpi_video_register_with_quirks(), that will check
whether or not the ACPI video driver has already been registered
and whether or not the backlight Windows 8 quirk has to be applied.
If the quirk has to be applied, it will block the ACPI backlight
support and either unregister the backlight interface if the ACPI
video driver has already been registered, or register the ACPI
video driver without the backlight interface otherwise. Make
the i915 driver use acpi_video_register_with_quirks() instead of
acpi_video_register() in i915_driver_load().

This change is based on earlier patches from Matthew Garrett,
Chun-Yi Lee and Seth Forshee and includes a fix from Aaron Lu's.

Konstantin Khlebnikov 7dcd2677ea drm/i915: fix long-standing SNB regression in power consumption after resume v2
This patch fixes regression in power consumtion of sandy bridge gpu, which
exists since v3.6 Sometimes after resuming from s2ram gpu starts thinking that
it's extremely busy. After that it never reaches rc6 state.

Bug exists since kernel v3.6:

Date: Thu Jun 14 11:04:48 2012 -0700

drm/i915: load boot context at driver init time

For some reason RC6 is already enabled at the beginning of resuming process.
Following initliaztion breaks some internal state and confuses RPS engine.
This patch disables RC6 at the beginnig of resume and initialization.

I've rearranged initialization sequence, because intel_disable_gt_powersave()
needs initialized force_wake_get/put and some locks from the dev_priv.

Note: The culprit in the initialization sequence seems to be the write
to MBCTL added in the above mentioned commit. The first version of
this patch just held a forcewake reference across the clock gating
init functions, which seems to have been enought to gather quite a few
positive test reports. But since that smelled a bit like ad-hoc
duct-tape v2 now just disables rps/rc6 across the entire hw setup.

Ben Widawsky 59124506ba drm/i915: store eLLC size
The eLLC cannot be determined by PCIID because as far as we know, even
machines supporting eLLC may not have it enabled, or fused off or
whatever. It's possible this isn't actually true, and at that point we
can switch to a DEV_INFO flag instead.

I've defined everything where the docs are clear, and left the rest as
magic.

But we need it before we set the pte_encode function pointers, which
happens really early, in gtt_init.

The problem with just doing the normal sequence earlier is we don't have
the ability to use forcewake until after the pte functions have been set
up.

Since all solutions are somewhat ugly (barring rewriting all the init
ordering), I've opted to do the detection really early, and the enabling
later - since the register to detect doesn't require forcewake.

Dave Airlie 28419261b0 Merge tag 'drm-intel-next-2013-06-18' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~danvet/drm-intel into drm-next
Last 3.11 feature pull. I have a few odds bits and pieces and fixes in my
queue, I'll sort them out later on to see what's for 3.11-fixes and what's
for 3.12. But nothing to hold this here up imo.

Highlights:
- more hangcheck work from Mika and Chris to prepare for arb robustness
- trickle feed fixes from Ville
- first parts of the shared pch pll rework, with some basic hw state
readout and cross-checking (this shuts up the confused pch pll refcount
WARN that Linus just recently forwarded)
- Haswell audio power well support from Wang Xingchao (alsa bits acked by
  Takashi)
- some cleanups and asserts sprinkling around the plane/gamma enabling
  sequence from Ville
- more gtt refactoring from Ben
- clear up the adjusted->mode vs. pixel clock vs. port clock confusion
- 30bpp support, this time for real hopefully

Mika Kuoppala e59ec13de4 drm/i915: add struct i915_ctx_hang_stats
To count context losses, add struct i915_ctx_hang_stats for
both i915_hw_context and drm_i915_file_private.
drm_i915_file_private is used when there is no context.

v2: renamed and cleaned up the struct (Chris Wilson, Ian Romanick)

Wang Xingchao a38911a3fe i915/drm: Add private api for power well usage
Haswell Display audio depends on power well in graphic side, it should
request power well before use it and release power well after use.
I915 will not shutdown power well if it detects audio is using.
This patch protects display audio crash for Intel Haswell C3 stepping board.

Ben Widawsky e29c32da53 drm/i915: Demote unknown param to DRM_DEBUG

and it can get in the way of interesting messages, especially with the

Ben Widawsky 55d2328574 drm/i915: Call context fini at cleanup
If contexts were actually initialized, and we fail somewhere later during
init this would possibly leak memory, and lead to some error messages
about unclean takedown. As the odds of this occurring, and someone
actually caring/noticing are pretty slim, the patch isn't terribly
important.
