Vinod Koul a657ae7e5c ASoC: Intel: Skylake: remove module id query at runtime
Now that we have balanced loading of the topology file and split of init
and fw_init and fill module data during asoc probe.

So remove it from runtime, but keep error check in case things fall apart.

Dharageswari R 0556ba463b ASoC: Intel: Skylake: modify snd_skl_get_module_info args
snd_skl_get_module_info() takes skl_dfw_module as an argument. The users
then updates the topology data, so instead pass skl_module_cfg and let
snd_skl_get_module_info() fill that up.

Takashi Iwai a52ff34e5e ALSA: hda - Manage power well properly for resume
For SKL and later Intel chips, we control the power well per codec
basis via link_power callback since the commit [03b135cebc47: ALSA:
hda - remove dependency on i915 power well for SKL].
However, there are a few exceptional cases where the gfx registers are
accessed from the audio driver: namely the wakeup override bit
toggling at (both system and runtime) resume. This seems causing a
kernel warning when accessed during the power well down (and likely
resulting in the bogus register accesses).

This patch puts the proper power up / down sequence around the resume
code so that the wakeup bit is fiddled properly while the power is
up. (The other callback, sync_audio_rate, is used only in the PCM
callback, so it's guaranteed in the power-on.)

Also, by this proper power up/down, the instantaneous flip of wakeup
bit in the resume callback that was introduced by the commit
[033ea349a7cd: ALSA: hda - Fix Skylake codec timeout] becomes
superfluous, as snd_hdac_display_power() already does it. So we can
clean it up together.

Kuninori Morimoto 6adcbdcd4b ASoC: lpass-platform: don't use snd_soc_pcm_set_drvdata()
snd_soc_pcm_set_drvdata() will set driver data to rtd->dev,
but driver data of rtd->dev is already used as "rtd" on
soc_post_component_init().

	static int soc_post_component_init(xxx)
	{
		...
		dev_set_drvdata(rtd->dev, rtd);
		...
	}

To remove confusion, snd_soc_pcm_set/get_drvdata() should be

Sylwester Nawrocki 15a1bf0a7d ASoC: uda134x: Optionally initialize L3 ops to default GPIO ops
The GPIO ops can be selected by platform_data which allows the
codec platform device to probe without the sound card's driver
intervention.

The downside is that it will request GPIOs on behalf of the codec
device and thus allow only one user on the bus, but it desn't seem
to be a limitation with current code and usage of the GPIO ops is
optional anyway.
The proper approach would presumably be to create a proper Linux
bus driver for L3, should this rather ancient bus specification
suddenly gain more interest.

Kuninori Morimoto 9731f82d60 ASoC: hdmi-codec: enable multi probe for same device
hdmi-codec driver is common HDMI sound driver,
but it doesn't care about multi sound ports.
For example, hdmi-codec driver is supporting 1 I2S and 1 SPDIF ports,
so, we can't use this driver if HDMI has 2 or more I2S ports.

And we would like to use multi detection.
For example, DesignWare HDMI driver is providing dw_hdmi_bind() to
DRM/KMS driver, and it will setups HDMI video/sound.
Note is that it will be called under for_each loop of ports.

int dw_hdmi_bind(xxx)
{
        /* register hdmi-codec driver here */
}

static int xxx_probe(struct platform_device *pdev)
{
        for_each_xxx(xx) {
                ...
                dw_hdmi_bind(xxx);
                ...
        }
}

This case, dw_hdmi_bind() would like to use hdmi-codec,
and it will be called multiple times for each ports.

Here, ASoC's CPU/Codec/Card bind will checks each "of_node" on DT,
and hdmi-codec driver is assuming its parent device for it.
But it doesn't care about case.
Thus, ASoC never detect correct sound card in this case.

To solve this issue, this patch checks each parent device,
and names "hdmi-hifi.x" in order to each ports.
And uses struct snd_soc_component_driver :: of_xlate_dai_name
for snd_soc_get_dai_name().

Sylwester Nawrocki 35397edeb1 ASoC: dwc: Drop DMA channel names assignment
The dw_configure_dai_by_dt() function and further dev->{play,capture}
_dma_data.dt data structures seem to be used in this driver only in case
of a system using devicetree, thus chan_name assignments have no effect
since they will be ignored in dmaengine_pcm_request_chan_of() call and
will be substituted with values taken form dmaengine_pcm_dma_channel_names[]
table ("tx", "rx").

Also there is no any "TX", "RX" dma-names entries in arch/arm/boot/dts,
only lower case "tx", "rx" seem to be used.

Lastly, this driver doesn't set SND_DMAENGINE_PCM_FLAG_CUSTOM_CHANNEL_NAME
flag when registering a dmaengine PCM to indicate the chan_name should be
used.

My intention is to eventually remove the struct snd_dmaengine_dai_dma_data
chan_name field as there is also a chan_names[] field in struct
snd_dmaengine_pcm_config which can be used for same purpose.

Adam Thomson 40585391fc ASoC: da7219: Make more efficient use of MCLK within driver
Currently, if the driver has control of MCLK then it remains
enabled as long as the codec is in STANDBY or above. The MCLK is

This patch updates the code to enable/disable the MCLK when moving

Adam Thomson 4c75225aa0 ASoC: da7213: Refactor sysclk(), pll() functions to improve handling
Currently the handling of the PLL in the driver is a little clunky,
and not ideal for all modes. This patch updates the code to make it
cleaner and more sensible for the various PLL states.

Key items of note are:
 - MCLK squaring is now handled directly as part of the sysclk()
   function, removing the need for a private flag to set this feature.
 - All PLL modes are defined as an enum, and are handled as a case
   statement in pll() function to clean up configuration. This also
   removes any need for a private flag for SRM.
 - For 32KHz mode, checks are made on codec master mode and correct
   MCLK rates, to avoid incorrect usage of PLL for this operation.
 - For 32KHz mode, SRM flag now correctly enabled and fout set to
   sensible value to achieve appropriate PLL dividers.

John Hsu ca6ac305f0 ASoC: nau8825: fix bug in playback when suspend
In chromium, the following steps will make codec function fail.
\1. plug in headphones, Play music
\2. run "powerd_dbus_suspend"
\3. resume from S3
After resume, the jack detection will restart and make configuration
for the headset. Meanwhile, the playback prepares and starts to work.
The two sequences will conflict and make wrong register configuration.

Originally, the driver adds protection for the case when it finds
the playback is active. But the "powerd_dbus_suspend" command will
close the pcm stream before suspend. Therefore, the driver can't
detect the playback after resume, and the protection not works.
For the issue, the driver raises protection every time after resume.
The protection will release after jack detection and configuration
completes, and then the playback just will goes on.

Eugeniu Rosca e30129aed4 ALSA: arm: Fix empty menuconfig SND_ARM
commit 3c8f7710c1 ("ASoC: fix broken pxa SoC support") has removed
the SND_ARM dependency from SND_PXA2XX_LIB and SND_PXA2XX_LIB_AC97,
by moving these config entries outside of the "if SND_ARM ... endif"
construct.

However, by placing these 2 symbols right between the SND_ARM
menuconfig definition and the first SND_ARM menu entry, the side
effect is that the SND_ARM menu becomes empty and all the config
entries caught between "if SND_ARM ... endif" no more belong to
menuconfig SND_ARM, but to its parent (menuconfig SND).

Fix this.

Chris Zhong 46dd2e28a9 ASoC: rockchip: correct the spdif clk
The spdif mclk should be 128 times of sample rate, and there is a
internal divider, the real rate of spdif mclk is mclk / (div + 1).
Hence, the original driver always get the good frequency for
48000/96000/44100/192000. But for 32000, the mclk is incorrect,
it should be 32000*128, but get 48000*128. Do not use the internal

Takashi Sakamoto 275353bb68 ALSA: echoaudio: purge contradictions between dimension matrix members and total number of members
Currently, sound device drivers for PCI cards produced by Echo Audio
support dimension parameter of element information. But the information
has contradictions to the number of members of each element. I guess that
this comes from the assumption that these sound cards are used only by
'echomixer' in userspace. But ideally, they should be used with usual ALSA
control applications.

This commit removes the contradiction. As a result, 'Monitor Mixer Volume'
and 'VMixer Volume' elements are shown in usual ALSA control applications
such as 'amixer' and 'alsamixer' in series.

Takashi Iwai a395bdd6b2 ASoC: intel: Fix sst-dsp dependency on dw stuff
The recent commit [a92ea59b74e2: ASoC: Intel: sst: only select
sst-firmware when DW DMAC is built-in] introduced more strict kconfig
dependency (depends on DW_DMAC_CORE=y) for avoiding the build failures
due to dependency messes in intel-sst. This makes, however, it
impossible to use this driver with the modularized systems,
i.e. typically on Linux distros.

The problem addressed in the commit above is that sst_dsp_new() and
sst_dsp_free() includes the firmware init / finish that call dw_*()
functions. Thus building it as built-in with DW_DMAC_CORE module
results in the missing symbols.

However, these sst_dsp functions are basically called only from the
drivers that depend on DW_DMAC_CORE already. That is, once when these
functions are split out, the rest can be independent from dw stuff.

This patch attempts to solve the issue by the following:
- Split sst-dsp stuff into two modules: snd-soc-sst-dsp and
  snd-soc-sst-firmware.
- Move sst_dsp_new() and sst_dsp_free() to the latter module so that
  the former module can be independent from DW_DMAC_CORE.
- Add a new kconfig SND_SOC_INTEL_SST_FIRMWARE to select the latter
  module by machine drivers.

One only remaining pitfall is that each machine driver has to select
SND_SOC_INTEL_SST_FIRMWARE carefully depending on DW_DMAC_CORE.
This can't be done cleanly due to the restriction of the current
kbuild.

Takashi Iwai a8ff48cb70 ALSA: pcm: Free chmap at PCM free callback, too
The chmap ctls assigned to PCM streams are freed in the PCM disconnect
callback. However, since the disconnect callback isn't called when
the card gets freed before registering, the chmap ctls may still be
left assigned. They are eventually freed together with other ctls,
but it may cause an Oops at pcm_chmap_ctl_private_free(), as the
function refers to the assigned PCM stream, while the PCM objects have
been already freed beforehand.

The fix is to free the chmap ctls also at PCM free callback, not only
at PCM disconnect.

Takashi Iwai f388cdcdd1 ALSA: ctl: Stop notification after disconnection
snd_ctl_remove() has a notification for the removal event. It's
superfluous when done during the device got disconnected. Although
the notification itself is mostly harmless, it may potentially be
harmful, and should be suppressed. Actually some components PCM may
free ctl elements during the disconnect or free callbacks, thus it's
no theoretical issue.

This patch adds the check of card->shutdown flag for avoiding
unnecessary notifications after (or during) the disconnect.

Takashi Sakamoto 860c1994a7 ALSA: control: add dimension validator for userspace elements
The 'dimen' field in struct snd_ctl_elem_info is used to compose all of
members in the element as multi-dimensional matrix. The field has four
members. Each member represents the width in each dimension level by
element member unit. For example, if the members consist of typical
two dimensional matrix, the dimen[0] represents the number of rows
and dimen[1] represents the number of columns (or vise-versa).

The total members in the matrix should be exactly the same as the number
of members in the element, while current implementation has no validator
of this information. In a view of userspace applications, the information
must be valid so that it cannot cause any bugs such as buffer-over-run.

This commit adds a validator of dimension information for userspace
applications which add new element sets. When they add the element sets
with wrong dimension information, they receive -EINVAL.
