NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.
The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

If the device is of type VFL_TYPE_SUBDEV then vdev->ioctl_ops
is NULL so the 'if (!ops->vidioc_query_ext_ctrl)' check would crash.
Add a test for !ops to the condition.
All sub-devices that have controls will use the control framework,
so they do not have an equivalent to ops->vidioc_query_ext_ctrl.
Returning false if ops is NULL is the correct thing to do here.

Pull poll annotations from Al Viro:
"This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local
variables used to hold the future return value'.
Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
in this series - it's large enough as it is.
Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
arch-independent, but POLL### are not.
The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
work on all architectures.
As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all
architectures"

The 32-bit compat v4l2 ioctl handling is implemented based on its 64-bit
equivalent. It converts 32-bit data structures into its 64-bit
equivalents and needs to provide the data to the 64-bit ioctl in user
space memory which is commonly allocated using
compat_alloc_user_space().
However, due to how that function is implemented, it can only be called
a single time for every syscall invocation.
Supposedly to avoid this limitation, the existing code uses a mix of
memory from the kernel stack and memory allocated through
compat_alloc_user_space().
Under normal circumstances, this would not work, because the 64-bit
ioctl expects all pointers to point to user space memory. As a
workaround, set_fs(KERNEL_DS) is called to temporarily disable this
extra safety check and allow kernel pointers. However, this might
introduce a security vulnerability: The result of the 32-bit to 64-bit
conversion is writeable by user space because the output buffer has been
allocated via compat_alloc_user_space(). A malicious user space process
could then manipulate pointers inside this output buffer, and due to the
previous set_fs(KERNEL_DS) call, functions like get_user() or put_user()
no longer prevent kernel memory access.
The new approach is to pre-calculate the total amount of user space
memory that is needed, allocate it using compat_alloc_user_space() and
then divide up the allocated memory to accommodate all data structures
that need to be converted.
An alternative approach would have been to retain the union type karg
that they allocated on the kernel stack in do_video_ioctl(), copy all
data from user space into karg and then back to user space. However, we
decided against this approach because it does not align with other
compat syscall implementations. Instead, we tried to replicate the
get_user/put_user pairs as found in other places in the kernel:

This patch was rebased and cleaned up. Compared to the original I
also swapped the order of the convert_in_user arguments so that they
matched copy_in_user. It was hard to review otherwise. I also replaced

ctrl_is_pointer just hardcoded two known string controls, but that
caused problems when using e.g. custom controls that use a pointer
for the payload.
Reimplement this function: it now finds the v4l2_ctrl (if the driver
uses the control framework) or it calls vidioc_query_ext_ctrl (if the
driver implements that directly).
In both cases it can now check if the control is a pointer control
or not.

Instead of doing sizeof(struct foo) use sizeof(*up). There even were
cases where 4 * sizeof(__u32) was used instead of sizeof(kp->reserved),
which is very dangerous when the size of the reserved array changes.

Don't duplicate the buffer type checks in enum/g/s/try_fmt.
The check_fmt function does that already.
It is hard to keep the checks in sync for all these functions and
in fact the check for VBI was wrong in the _fmt functions as it
allowed SDR types as well. This caused a v4l2-compliance failure
for /dev/swradio0 using vivid.
This simplifies the code and keeps the check in one place and
fixes the SDR/VBI bug.

The V4L2_ASYNC_MATCH_FWNODE match criteria requires just one
struct to be filled (struct fwnode_handle). The V4L2_ASYNC_MATCH_DEVNAME
match criteria requires just a device name.
So, it doesn't make sense to enclose those into structs,
as the criteria can go directly into the union.
That makes easier to document it, as we don't need to document
weird senseless structs.
At drivers, this makes even clearer about the match criteria.

Currently videobuf2-dma-sg checks for dma direction for
every single page and videobuf2-dc lacks any dma direction
checks and calls set_page_dirty_lock unconditionally.
Thus unify and align the invocations of set_page_dirty_lock
for videobuf2-dc, videobuf2-sg memory allocators with
videobuf2-vmalloc, i.e. the pattern used in vmalloc has been
copied to dc and dma-sg.

V4L2_BUF_FLAG_LAST is a signal from the driver to userspace for buffers
on the capture queue. When userspace queues back a capture buffer with
the flag set, we should clear it.
Otherwise, if userspace restarts streaming after EOS, without
reallocating the buffers, mem2mem devices will erroneously signal EOS
prematurely, as soon as the already flagged buffer is dequeued.

Using enums makes easier to document, as it can use kernel-doc
markups. It also allows cross-referencing, with increases the
kAPI readability.

When matching and registering a sub-device from a sub-notifier use the
v4l2_device from the root parent notifier. Using the v4l2_dev stored in
the sub-notifier itself is incorrect as it might not be set.
This can be demonstrated by unbinding and rebinding the adv748x driver
and observing that it fails to probe due to the check !v4l2_dev in
v4l2_device_register_subdev().

Current implementation of __v4l2_async_notifier_parse_fwnode_endpoints()
checks first whether subdev_count >= subdev_max and only then whether
the port being parsed matches the given port index. This triggers an
error in otherwise valid cases of skipping ports that do not match.
Fix this by moving the check below the port index check.

V4L2 memory registrations are incompatible with filesystem-dax that
needs the ability to revoke dma access to a mapping at will, or
otherwise allow the kernel to wait for completion of DMA. The
filesystem-dax implementation breaks the traditional solution of
truncate of active file backed mappings since there is no page-cache
page we can orphan to sustain ongoing DMA.
If v4l2 wants to support long lived DMA mappings it needs to arrange to
hold a file lease or use some other mechanism so that the kernel can
coordinate revoking DMA access when the filesystem needs to truncate
mappings.

The commit aef69d5475 ("media: v4l: fwnode: Add a convenience
function for registering sensors") adds the function
v4l2_async_notifier_parse_fwnode_sensor_common() to parse and register a
subdevice and a subdev-notifier by parsing firmware information. This
new subdev-notifier is stored in the new field 'subdev_notifier' in
struct v4l2_subdev.
In v4l2_async_unregister_subdev() this field is used to unregister and
cleanup the subdev-notifier. A check for if the subdev-notifier is
initialized or not was forgotten leading to a NULL pointer dereference
in v4l2_async_notifier_cleanup() if a subdevice do not use the optional
convince function to initialize the field.
Fix this by checking in v4l2_async_notifier_cleanup() that it is
provided whit a notifier making it safe to call with a NULL parameter.

A shadow declaration of variable ret is being assigned a return error
status and this value is being lost when the error exit goto's jump
out of the local scope. This leads to an uninitalized error return value
in the outer scope being returned. Fix this by removing the inner scoped
declaration of variable ret.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

There is a get/put operation in order to get firmware is_available
data there at the __v4l2_async_notifier_parse_fwnode_endpoints()
function. However, instead of using it, the code just reads again
without the lock. That's a bug, as dev_fwnode isn't guaranteed
to be there once fwnode_handle_put() has been called on it.
This solves this smatch warning:

Add a convenience function for parsing firmware for information on related
devices using v4l2_async_notifier_parse_fwnode_sensor_common() registering
the notifier and finally the async sub-device itself.
This should be useful for sensor drivers that do not have device specific
requirements related to firmware information parsing or the async
framework.

Add v4l2_fwnode_parse_reference_sensor_common for parsing common
sensor properties that refer to adjacent devices such as flash or lens
driver chips.
As this is an association only, there's little a regular driver needs to
know about these devices as such.

v4l2_fwnode_reference_parse_int_prop() will find an fwnode such that under
the device's own fwnode, it will follow child fwnodes with the given
property-value pair and return the resulting fwnode.

are not part of but are associated with a sensor.
