ARM: SoC fixes for 3.16-rc
This week's arm-soc fixes: - Another set of OMAP fixes * Clock fixes * Restart handling * PHY regulators * SATA hwmod data for DRA7 + Some trivial fixes and removal of a bit of dead code - Exynos fixes * A bunch of clock fixes * Some SMP fixes * Exynos multi-core timer: register as clocksource and fix ftrace. + a few other minor fixes There's also a couple more patches, and at91 fix for USB caused by common clock conversion, and more MAINTAINERS entries for shmobile. We're definitely switching to only regression fixes from here on out, we've been a little less strict than usual up until now. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.14 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJTws/yAAoJEIwa5zzehBx35GQP/jUx/0+qiNkrupcmMoDr9ykP QSQPWRVBancZ5eO3gBvnde0P/4gaTQZb7s31nCkX7RQfpe4078eR9isrqs7du3rw BNsdJxtWIBzhnx19GDhjZM2BbYoVlDIETQTKUDPPhMg/I/k4ozLLcC+02uAMG1/g TiCjOHF968Cq1bCwyvqJgiTDjjAPoHLrnD2aDsAuwYi2QPKNWkv0uHZFQmV2ooja 9Fk3Km32wirTvfjKir0r/BhV5oEdwv3y/HYRNG+bJOkvxDph8i5t2EvLeCl/yctq KLcHBJjLsF2MgvCpoCfjg8OFyYA7qmZDNVxfiywJnWVUR6w0kOU3MggPopsikoY/ xU3MKJSu/36cNJER3Rl51taD9tq+4hVhKTjiLBkD0MsD9jN5ewvDqI5BKpjL5wlZ I36eZmQE4yPnd6is1RS7uuTcN/uXBtOAhNjPS42xkW5lo9W7BWOUOlB1dzlcZTky J6/h9WzODKcgaeTx55ks4wjhQmdzzO3nQk0ion3YEv27RKkSUJy8PNDAfMKAAF3p OWzqUIfB2mMGQBGXcShXAAyC3S2jGJptlKL3Wno0LkPXBGqlRXHMYBvGoFEdP/iV F24TDLxJIL/lPbpQEey3J4qZANrpuAm0HYmg+r5KiVHbMkcW2Z000w4kRoO+tIIc Bxzxrot9PVAFfE1SkVYt =NB6g -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'fixes-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC fixes from Olof Johansson: "This week's arm-soc fixes: - Another set of OMAP fixes * Clock fixes * Restart handling * PHY regulators * SATA hwmod data for DRA7 + Some trivial fixes and removal of a bit of dead code - Exynos fixes * A bunch of clock fixes * Some SMP fixes * Exynos multi-core timer: register as clocksource and fix ftrace. + a few other minor fixes There's also a couple more patches, and at91 fix for USB caused by common clock conversion, and more MAINTAINERS entries for shmobile. ARM: EXYNOS: Add support for clock handling in power domain
While powering on/off a local powerdomain in exynos5 chipsets, the input clocks to each device gets modified. This behaviour is based on the SYSCLK_SYS_PWR_REG registers. E.g. SYSCLK_MFC_SYS_PWR_REG = 0x0, the parent of input clock to MFC (aclk333) gets modified to oscclk = 0x1, no change in clocks. The recommended value of SYSCLK_SYS_PWR_REG before power gating any domain is 0x0. So we must also restore the clocks while powering on a domain everytime. This patch adds the framework for getting the required mux and parent clocks through a power domain device node. With this patch, while powering off a domain, parent is set to oscclk and while powering back on, its re-set to the correct parent which is as per the recommended pd on/off sequence. Merge branch 'fixes' of git://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/linux-arm
Pull ARM fixes from Russell King: "Another round of ARM fixes. The largest change here is the L2 changes to work around problems for the Armada 37x/380 devices, where most of the size comes down to comments rather than code. The other significant fix here is for the ptrace code, to ensure that rewritten syscalls work as intended. This was pointed out by Kees Cook, but Will Deacon reworked the patch to be more elegant. The remainder are fairly trivial changes" * 'fixes' of git://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/linux-arm: ARM: 8087/1: ptrace: reload syscall number after secure_computing() check ARM: 8086/1: Set memblock limit for nommu ARM: 8085/1: sa1100: collie: add top boot mtd partition ARM: 8084/1: sa1100: collie: revert back to cfi_probe ARM: 8080/1: mcpm.h: remove unused variable declaration ARM: 8076/1: mm: add support for HW coherent systems in PL310 cache |

ARM: 8076/1: mm: add support for HW coherent systems in PL310 cache
When a PL310 cache is used on a system that provides hardware coherency, the outer cache sync operation is useless, and can be skipped. Moreover, on some systems, it is harmful as it causes deadlocks between the Marvell coherency mechanism, the Marvell PCIe controller and the Cortex-A9. To avoid this, this commit introduces a new Device Tree property 'arm,io-coherent' for the L2 cache controller node, valid only for the PL310 cache. It identifies the usage of the PL310 cache in an I/O coherent configuration. Internally, it makes the driver disable the outer cache sync operation. Note that technically speaking, a fully coherent system wouldn't require any of the other .outer_cache operations. However, in practice, when booting secondary CPUs, these are not yet coherent, and therefore a set of cache maintenance operations are necessary at this point. This explains why we keep the other .outer_cache operations and only ->sync is disabled. While in theory any write to a PL310 register could cause the deadlock, in practice, disabling ->sync is sufficient to workaround the deadlock, since the other cache maintenance operations are only used in very specific situations. Contrary to previous versions of this patch, this new version does not simply NULL-ify the ->sync member, because the l2c_init_data structures are now 'const' and therefore cannot be modified, which is a good thing. Therefore, this patch introduces a separate l2c_init_data instance, called of_l2c310_coherent_data. Wildcards in compatible strings should be avoid. "marvell,armada38x" was recently introduced but was not yet used. This patch removes the chip select function. Chip select should instead be supported using GPIOs, defining the DT entry "cs-gpios", and letting the SPI core assert/deassert the chip select as it sees fit. The chip select control inside the controller is buggy. It is supposed to automatically assert the chip select based on the activity in the controller, but it is buggy and doesn't work at all. pwm: Changes for v3.16-rc1
The majority of these changes are cleanups and fixes across all drivers. Redundant error messages are removed and more PWM controllers set the .can_sleep flag to signal that they can't be used in atomic context. Support is added for the Broadcom Kona family of SoCs and the Intel LPSS driver can now probe PCI devices in addition to ACPI devices. Upon shut- down, the pwm-backlight driver will now power off the backlight. It also uses the new descriptor-based GPIO API for more concise GPIO handling. A large chunk of these changes also converts platforms to use the lookup mechanism rather than relying on the global number space to reference PWM devices. This is largely in preparation for more unification and cleanups in future patches. Eventually it will allow the legacy PWM API to be removed. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJTl/AqAAoJEN0jrNd/PrOhoZsP/1yLaSK3NuBXWg3VdpH9i8so GXBeh3dbKAmC5MYQlhh5XTvuNBbfOoSp6dGdL3pV9GjcffbqzTynn5YszrbanezX +fqBF1NvW+jb2sUfQmedh9y30O1ADZM0p+FXW/R7e2khiE+8VF2ox35Hc3LLBqk8 SiZoy1UEzIo0BAHgtgCw2VXUYUSYX/KYGoF/t8TCCObKVC3wQ7pW5tN3Ekj14yNL NspM0Q8OsITCQO0PdOfHw1gBmy4iLSuoNpPKP12BQVx5seZ4LBaIz9Wh0jFu89hq zI1gFpGptMsxsaAn/zk6Nr9lHDkqxkhnuYA+dgkA6k0KI9jS1Me20WQEmvM9H9xs BJ8QOfMQP7AHCZeW61J+iPTtCyMwFejRSPMtPjNMfaOQduWJw7+o0GaA30F39dw0 3Cki1C44o9KfwCdC9OcmLignHt5TC1FEJgJL4OY695x0za7XcVgEN6nTg70AQfaz pcm4PeCqtM9jvXdJQdDGDI7gVzT33kpBnGatqQ2bUqMDx8HeHIkdEXehLwsYP46m FX0RJb5ue40esbVWZDGYWJqkdInpHt6deahTW+Jq9Exo4ZMr5/DVkMQCl8oF3/em Y5ED67dnAQ4au1MhElnDTPKk4Uh28aWTYwo8HSO6rt+8jcguH1KvXvLa+z2BcaMv ZVN0ZPy2813ix6Q0yO3D =BDxR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'pwm/for-3.16-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/thierry.reding/linux-pwm Pull pwm changes from Thierry Reding: "The majority of these changes are cleanups and fixes across all drivers. Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc
Pull powerpc updates from Ben Herrenschmidt: "Here is the bulk of the powerpc changes for this merge window. It got a bit delayed in part because I wasn't paying attention, and in part because I discovered I had a core PCI change without a PCI maintainer ack in it. Bjorn eventually agreed it was ok to merge it though we'll probably improve it later and I didn't want to rebase to add his ack. There is going to be a bit more next week, essentially fixes that I still want to sort through and test. The biggest item this time is the support to build the ppc64 LE kernel with our new v2 ABI. We previously supported v2 userspace but the kernel itself was a tougher nut to crack. This is now sorted mostly thanks to Anton and Rusty. We also have a fairly big series from Cedric that add support for 64-bit LE zImage boot wrapper. This was made harder by the fact that traditionally our zImage wrapper was always 32-bit, but our new LE toolchains don't really support 32-bit anymore (it's somewhat there but not really "supported") so we didn't want to rely on it. This meant more churn that just endian fixes. This brings some more LE bits as well, such as the ability to run in LE mode without a hypervisor (ie. under OPAL firmware) by doing the right OPAL call to reinitialize the CPU to take HV interrupts in the right mode and the usual pile of endian fixes. There's another series from Gavin adding EEH improvements (one day we *will* have a release with less than 20 EEH patches, I promise!). Another highlight is the support for the "Split core" functionality on P8 by Michael. This allows a P8 core to be split into "sub cores" of 4 threads which allows the subcores to run different guests under KVM (the HW still doesn't support a partition per thread). And then the usual misc bits and fixes ..." [ Further delayed by gmail deciding that BenH is a dirty spammer. drm/tegra: Changes for v3.16-rc1
The majority of these changes are a slew of cleanups across the board. A more noteworthy change is the addition of drm_dev_set_unique() and the conversion of the Tegra DRM driver to use it. This allows us to get rid of the host1x drm_bus implementation. Other USB and platform drivers can be changed in a similar way. Unfortunately for most PCI devices there is some userspace that relies on the old functionality and cannot be as easily converted. HDMI and hardware cursor support is added for Tegra124. The SOR output gains support for exposing CRCs via debugfs, which can be used for automated testing. Many values that were hardcoded in the SOR/eDP code are now computed at runtime to increase compatibility with more devices. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJTlYhCAAoJEN0jrNd/PrOhsFkP/0KvTZsxeRloi/qmYjDqvYkO SIL37i4AW/Wg5fLZ6WurQsZKT+LkE2E8a0xAaXtTbr8eyRTiXU39aY1OeYCSeaQ3 C50fEnIeGkMR/n4ijwR1ZcGVpCAcpREE2yePIshGfOeHmJ4CB6QewQ52H/BjH97r BFq+8ZNtoiVrRpygD5PLfq+8UwikplIdSh+GjuAW/bp4YHXUPBDUlMUlfRUP+eEZ 7vLknX5zCugvXLMO6OQqyLkZKTpoxV+iV1chY3W3O7qNHHhKTbjQcpL3OleUH+Pc v8AqfXmidZK5h9IMlWU9eWWB2SWCbsxkBGOQfurv8rwNio/P8XePzhJD/xuWFIIn c/0yqFTAitqmynwzwzxamfzOITgN1D88C2ae3Z/DF14hPN1ZZg0rWFlDRax45Wx/ bxcZKsPRRP5gANyEXzvl5B51d1yT8V9KSKOHJKp7OAujoKJ3H5i3+3c0OeR/BZd6 IRt1NrdtpL7B4sPBkWxAyDYNYlsj35c6757kGgXSjMxaPkQQL+ORcOCsCRal3UAp B1FdWk9CuTEiQmpYOwA5S+sFaUtReux2DC6CyVYc5KGmojTHrAg2T+c3WfNEaZGI NeYL5kPK70/c1du0IBwPPq/9L4LcUAz7e9Nd3i8nCvA0osPbj8p/C76LvMrYopxI cX8uqOVCmmpZ5vheqMhd =OwgD -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'drm/tegra/for-3.16-rc1' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/tegra/linux into drm-next drm/tegra: Changes for v3.16-rc1 The majority of these changes are a slew of cleanups across the board. The clock framework changes for 3.16 are pretty typical: mostly clock
driver additions and fixes. There are additions to the clock core code for some of the basic types (e.g. the common divider type has some fixes and featured added to it). One minor annoyance is a last-minute dependency that wasn't handled quite right. |
