When building for microMIPS we need to ensure that the assembler always knows that there is code at the target of a branch or jump. Recent toolchains will fail to link a microMIPS kernel when this isn't the case due to what it thinks is a branch to non-microMIPS code. mips-mti-linux-gnu-ld kernel/built-in.o: .spinlock.text+0x2fc: Unsupported branch between ISA modes. mips-mti-linux-gnu-ld final link failed: Bad value This is due to inline assembly labels in spinlock.h not being followed by an instruction mnemonic, either due to a .subsection pseudo-op or the end of the inline asm block. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
