When booting MSM based platforms with Device Tree or some ACPI implementations, it is possible to provide a list of reserved pins via the 'gpio-reserved-ranges' and 'gpios' properties respectively. However some ACPI tables are not populated with this information, thus it has to come from a knowledgable device driver instead. Here we provide the MSM common driver with additional support to parse this informtion and correctly populate the widely used 'valid_mask'. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
