With the addition of variables and actions, it's become necessary to provide more detailed error information to users about syntax errors. Add a 'last error' facility accessible via the erroring event's 'hist' file. Reading the hist file after an error will display more detailed information about what went wrong, if information is available. This extended error information will be available until the next hist trigger command for that event. # echo xxx > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/sched/sched_wakeup/trigger echo: write error: Invalid argument # cat /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/sched/sched_wakeup/hist ERROR: Couldn't yyy: zzz Last command: xxx Also add specific error messages for variable and action errors. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
