qapi: Change Netdev into a flat union This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with the new types. qapi: Change Netdev into a flat union This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with the new types. While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options, and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named 'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions' in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union. qapi: Change Netdev into a flat union This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with the new types. While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options, and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named 'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions' in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union. What vhost-user wants is a chardev that is operating as reconnectable network service, along with the ability to do FD passing over the connection. The colo code simply wants a network service. Add a feature concept to the char drivers so that chardev users can query the actual features they wish to have supported. The QemuOpts member is removed to prevent future mistakes in this area. vhost-user: add multiple queue support This patch is initially based a patch from Nikolay Nikolaev. This patch adds vhost-user multiple queue support, by creating a nc and vhost_net pair for each queue. Qemu exits if find that the backend can't support the number of requested queues (by providing queues=# option). The max number is queried by a new message, VHOST_USER_GET_QUEUE_NUM, and is sent only when protocol feature VHOST_USER_PROTOCOL_F_MQ is present first. The max queue check is done at vhost-user initiation stage. We initiate one queue first, which, in the meantime, also gets the max_queues the backend supports. In older version, it was reported that some messages are sent more times than necessary. Here we came an agreement with Michael that we could categorize vhost user messages to 2 types: non-vring specific messages, which should be sent only once, and vring specific messages, which should be sent per queue. Here I introduced a helper function vhost_user_one_time_request(), which lists following messages as non-vring specific messages: VHOST_USER_SET_OWNER VHOST_USER_RESET_DEVICE VHOST_USER_SET_MEM_TABLE VHOST_USER_GET_QUEUE_NUM For above messages, we simply ignore them when they are not sent the first time.
