Patrick Scheuring da25311c7c Input: i8042 - add XMG C504 to keyboard reset table
The Schenker XMG C504 is a rebranded Gigabyte P35 v2 laptop.
Therefore it also needs a keyboard reset to detect the Elantech touchpad.
Otherwise the touchpad appears to be dead.

With this patch the touchpad is detected:

Marcos Paulo de Souza 930e19248e Input: i8042 - skip selftest on ASUS laptops
On suspend/resume cycle, selftest is executed to reset i8042 controller.
But when this is done in Asus devices, subsequent calls to detect/init
functions to elantech driver fails. Skipping selftest fixes this problem.

An easier step to reproduce this problem is adding i8042.reset=1 as a
kernel parameter. On Asus laptops, it'll make the system to start with the
touchpad already stuck, since psmouse_probe forcibly calls the selftest
function.

This patch was inspired by John Hiesey's change[1], but, since this problem
affects a lot of models of Asus, let's avoid running selftests on them.

Without i8042.nomux=1 the Elantech touch pad is not working at all on

Srihari Vijayaraghavan 148e9a711e Input: i8042 - reset keyboard to fix Elantech touchpad detection
On some laptops, keyboard needs to be reset in order to successfully detect
touchpad (e.g., some Gigabyte laptop models with Elantech touchpads).
Without resettin keyboard touchpad pretends to be completely dead.

Based on the original patch by Mateusz Jończyk this version has been
expanded to include DMI based detection & application of the fix
automatically on the affected models of laptops. This has been confirmed to
fix problem by three users already on three different models of laptops.

Dmitry Torokhov e55a336698 Revert "Input: i8042 - disable active multiplexing by default"
This reverts commit 68da166491.

It turns out that the assertion about scope of regressions due to
always keeping keyboard controller in legacy mode was proven wrong.
There are laptops, such as Clevo W650SH, that only have internal
touchpad (no external PS/2 ports), that require active multiplexing
mode to switch the touchpad (Elantech) into native mode instead of
basic PS/2 emulation.

Dmitry Torokhov 68da166491 Input: i8042 - disable active multiplexing by default
Active multiplexing is a nice feature as it allows several pointing devices
(such as touchpad and external mouse) use their native protocols at the
same time. Unfortunately many manufacturers do not implement the feature
properly even though they advertise it. The problematic implementations are
never fixed, since Windows by default does not use this mode, and move from
one BIOS/model of laptop to another. When active multiplexing is broken
turning it on usually results in touchpad, keyboard, or both unresponsive.

With PS/2 usage on decline (most of PS/2 devices in use nowadays are
internal laptop touchpads), I expect number of users who have laptops with
working MUX implementation, docking stations with external PS/2 ports, and
who are still using external PS/2 mice, to be rather small. Let's flip the
default to be OFF and allow activating it through i8042.nomux=0 kernel
option. We'll also keep DMI table where we can record known good models.

Dmitry Torokhov b0225e8f10 Input: i8042 - add Sony Vaio VGN-FZ240E to the nomux list
On this model, when KBD is in active multiplexing mode, acknowledgements
to reset and get ID commands issued on KBD port sometimes are delivered
to AUX3 port (touchpad) which messes up device detection. Legacy KBC
mode works fine and since there are no external PS/2 ports on this laptop
and no support for docking station we can safely disable active MUX mode.

Dmitry Torokhov 1c7827ae70 Input: i8042 - bypass AUX IRQ delivery test on laptops
It seems that many laptops do not fully implement AUX LOOP command in
their keyboard controllers, causing issues with touchpad detection.
We know however that almost every laptop/portable uses a PS/2 pointing
device and, even if user disables it in favor of an external mouse,
the system will not use IRQ 12 for anything else. Therefore we may
bypass AUX IRQ delivery test when running on a laptop and assume that
it is routed properly.

Just to be safe we require the box to have good PNP data in order to
bypass the test.

Dmitry Torokhov ced909ff04 Input: i8042 - add Acer Aspire 5536 to the nomux list
When KBC is in active multiplexing mode, disabling and re-enabling the
touchpad with the special key leaves the touchpad dead. Since the laptop
does not have any external PS/2 ports disabling MUX mode should be safe.

The synaptic touchpad on the Asus G1S is not properly detected when
rebooting machine or on cold boot from time to time. Adding the Asus
G1S to the noloop exception table resolves the issue.

Arjan van de Ven 7c46e23681 Input: i8042 - add a DMI table for the i8042.reset option
There are several DMI tables in the i8042 (keyboard) driver already, but
not one for the i8042.reset option. This patch adds such an option.

Two users for this table are added as well, the MSI Wind U-100 and the LG
X110. The MSI Wind also needs to be in the "don't trust the pnp data" for
the touchpad to work on my machine.
