Shawn Bohrer 46a0fac943 8250_pci: add support for National Instruments 843x RS232 devices
This implements basic support for all 843x RS232 devices, but does not
add DMA support. This means that sustained data transfers at high baud
rates may not be possible on multiple ports simultaneously.

On the Compaq Evo D510 SFF/CMT, a PCI quirk activated the SMBus device

Mauro Carvalho Chehab b6adea334c 8250: fix boot hang with serial console when using with Serial Over Lan port
Intel 8257x Ethernet boards have a feature called Serial Over Lan.

This feature works by emulating a serial port, and it is detected by
kernel as a normal 8250 port. However, this emulation is not perfect, as
also noticed on changeset 7500b1f602.

Before this patch, the kernel were trying to check if the serial TX is
capable of work using IRQ's.

This were done with a code similar this:

        serial_outp(up, UART_IER, UART_IER_THRI);
        lsr = serial_in(up, UART_LSR);
        iir = serial_in(up, UART_IIR);
        serial_outp(up, UART_IER, 0);

        if (lsr & UART_LSR_TEMT && iir & UART_IIR_NO_INT)
		up->bugs |= UART_BUG_TXEN;

This works fine for other 8250 ports, but, on 8250-emulated SoL port, the
chip is a little lazy to down UART_IIR_NO_INT at UART_IIR register.

Due to that, UART_BUG_TXEN is sometimes enabled. However, as TX IRQ keeps
working, and the TX polling is now enabled, the driver miss-interprets the
IRQ received later, hanging up the machine until a key is pressed at the
serial console.

This is the 6 version of this patch. Previous versions were trying to
introduce a large enough delay between serial_outp and serial_in(up,
UART_IIR), but not taking forever. However, the needed delay couldn't be
safely determined.

At the experimental tests, a delay of 1us solves most of the cases, but
still hangs sometimes. Increasing the delay to 5us was better, but still
doesn't solve. A very high delay of 50 ms seemed to work every time.

However, poking around with delays and pray for it to be enough doesn't
seem to be a good approach, even for a quirk.

So, instead of playing with random large arbitrary delays, let's just
disable UART_BUG_TXEN for all SoL ports.

Anton Vorontsov 598804cd04 powerpc/fsl_pci: Add MPC83xx PCI-E controller RC mode support
This patch adds support for PCI-Express controllers as found on the
newer MPC83xx chips.

The work is loosely based on the Tony Li's patch[1], but unlike the
original patch, this patch implements sliding window for the Type 1
transactions using outbound window translations, so we don't have to
ioremap the whole PCI-E configuration space.

Shane McDonald 391ad1908a Resurrect IT8172 IDE controller driver
Support for the IT8172 IDE controller was removed from the kernel
sometime after 2.6.18. Support for the only boards that used the IT8172
was removed from the kernel after 2.6.18, as they had never compiled
since 2.6.0. However, there are a couple of platforms that use this
chip: the PMC-Sierra Xiao Hu thin-client computer, which is no longer
in production, and the Linksys NSS4000 Network Attached Storage box,
which is based on the Xiao Hu board. I am attempting to add support
for the Xiao Hu to the kernel, and this IT8172 IDE controller is the
first bit of code in this effort.

This patch resurrects the IT8172 IDE controller code. I began with
the 2.6.18 version of the it8172.c file, and have moved it forward so
that it works with the latest version of the kernel. I have run this
driver on a PMC-Sierra Xiao Hu board with the 2.6.28 kernel, and
I have had no problems with it in my configuration. The attached patch
applies cleanly against 2.6.28.

Also, stop looking at the NAND controller (0x4100) and checking the

Arthur Jones 8f421c595a edac: i5100 new intel chipset driver
Preliminary support for the Intel 5100 MCH. CE and UE errors are reported
along with the current DIMM label information and other memory parameters.

Reasons why this is preliminary:

1) This chip has 2 independent memory controllers which, for best
   perforance, use interleaved accesses to the DDR2 memory. This
   architecture does not map very well to the current edac data structures
   which depend on symmetric channel access to the interleaved data.
   Without core changes, the best I could do for now is to map both memory
   controllers to different csrows (first all ranks of controller 0, then
   all ranks of controller 1). Someone much more familiar with the edac
   core than I will probably need to come up with a more general data
   structure to handle the interleaving and de-interleaving of the two
   memory controllers.

2) I have not yet tackled the de-interleaving of the rank/controller
   address space into the physical address space of the CPU. There is
   nothing fundamentally missing, it is just ending up to be a lot of
   code, and I'd rather keep it separate for now, esp since it doesn't
   work yet...

3) The code depends on a particular i5100 chip select to DIMM mainboard
   chip select mapping. This mapping seems obvious to me in order to
   support dual and single ranked memory, but it is not unique and DIMM
   labels could be wrong on other mainboards. There is no way to query
   this mapping that I know of.

4) The code requires that the i5100 is in 32GB mode. Only 4 ranks per
   controller, 2 ranks per DIMM are supported. I do not have hardware
   (nor do I expect to have hardware anytime soon) for the 48GB (6 ranks
   per controller) mode.

5) The serial presence detect code should be broken out into a "real"
   i2c driver so that decode-dimms.pl can work.

Stefan Richter 95984f62c9 firewire: fw-ohci: TSB43AB22/A dualbuffer workaround
Isochronous reception in dualbuffer mode is reportedly broken with
TI TSB43AB22A on x86-64. Descriptor addresses above 2G have been
determined as the trigger:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=435550

Two fixes are possible:
  - pci_set_consistent_dma_mask(pdev, DMA_31BIT_MASK);
    at least when IR descriptors are allocated, or
  - simply don't use dualbuffer.
This fix implements the latter workaround.

But we keep using dualbuffer on x86-32 which won't give us highmen (and
thus physical addresses outside the 31bit range) in coherent DMA memory
allocations. Right now we could for example also whitelist PPC32, but
DMA mapping implementation details are expected to change there.

Add support for version 2 of the ioatdma device. This device handles
the descriptor chain and DCA services slightly differently:
 - Instead of moving the dma descriptors between a busy and an idle chain,
   this new version uses a single circular chain so that we don't have
   rewrite the next_descriptor pointers as we add new requests, and the
   device doesn't need to re-read the last descriptor.
 - The new device has the DCA tags defined internally instead of needing

David Miller 5257dca0bd PCI: Remove 3 incorrect MSI quirks.
Now that we have dealt with the real issue, in that some ATI SATA and
USB controllers needed the INTX_DISABLE quirk, we can remove these AMD
chipset global MSI disabling quirks.

This reverts three changesets:

4be8f90643 (PCI: disable MSI on RS690)
aea6a433f5 (PCI: disable MSI on RD580)
f122392f67 (PCI: disable MSI on RX790)

David Miller 1d84b5424e PCI: Add MSI quirk for ServerWorks HT1000 PCIX bridge.
This is the fix for the following problem:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227657

The bnx2 device 5706 complains about MSI not working behind a
ServerWorks HT1000 PCIX bridge. An earlier commit to fix the problem:

e3008dedff4bdc96a5f67224cd3d8d12237082a0:

"PCI: disable MSI by default on systems with Serverworks HT1000 chips"

was not entirely correct, and has been reverted.

MSI does not work on the PCIX bus because the BIOS did not set the
HT_MSI_FLAGS_ENABLE bit in the HyperTransport MSI capability on the
bridge. We use the existing quirk_msi_ht_cap() to detect the problem
and disable MSI in all buses behind it.

The SiS966 has one additional PCI-ID 1180.

If the chipset is using this PCI-ID, the primary channel is connected to the

Jay Cliburn 184b812f7d PCI: quirk disable MSI on via vt3351
The Via VT3351 APIC does not play well with MSI and unleashes a flood
of APIC errors when MSI is used to deliver interrupts. The problem
was recently exposed when the atl1 network device driver, which enables
MSI by default, stimulated APIC errors on an Asus M2V mainboard, which
employs the Via VT3351.

Atsushi Nemoto eea221ce48 tc35815 driver update (take 2)
Current tc35815 driver is very obsolete and less maintained for a long
time. Replace it with a new driver based on one from CELF patch
archive.

Major advantages of CELF version (version 1.23, for kernel 2.6.10) are:

* Independent of JMR3927.
  (Actually independent of MIPS, but AFAIK the chip is used only on
   MIPS platforms)
* TX4938 support.
* 64-bit proof.
* Asynchronous and on-demand auto negotiation.
* High performance on non-coherent architecture.
* ethtool support.
* Many bugfixes and cleanups.

And improvoments since version 1.23 are:

* TX4939 support.
* NETPOLL support.
* NAPI support. (disabled by default)
* Reduce memcpy on receiving.
* PM support.
* Many cleanups and bugfixes.

Add a driver for the IT8213 which is a single channel ICH-ish PATA

driver. There is a legacy drivers/ide driver also available and I'll post
that once I get time to test it all out (probably early January). If
anyone else needs the drivers/ide driver and wants to do the merge for
drivers/ide (Bart ??) then I'll forward it.

Sergei Shtylyov 33dced2ea5 ide: add Toshiba TC86C001 IDE driver (take 2)
This is the driver for the Toshiba TC86C001 GOKU-S PCI IDE controller,
completely reworked from the original brain-damaged Toshiba's 2.4 version.

This single channel UltraDMA/66 controller is very simple in programming,
yet Toshiba managed to plant many interesting bugs in it. The particularly
nasty "limitation 5" (as they call the errata) caused me to abuse the IDE
core in a possibly most interesting way so far. However, this is still
better than the #ifdef mess in drivers/ide/ide-io.c that the original
version included (well, it had much more mess)...

Darren Salt 9e9dc5f29f mmc: Power quirk for ENE controllers
Support for these devices was broken for 2.6.18-rc1 and later by commit
146ad66eac, which added voltage level support.

This restores the previous behaviour for these devices by ensuring that when
the voltage is changed, only one write to set the voltage is performed.

It may be that both writes are needed if the voltage is being changed between
two non-zero values or that it's safe to ensure that only one write is done
if the hardware only supports one voltage; I don't know whether either is the
case nor can I test since I have only the one SD reader (1524:0550), and it
supports just the one voltage.

Maciej W. Rozycki 15a1c51404 [MIPS] BCM1250: TRDY timeout tweaks for Broadcom SiByte systems
It was obesrved that at least one older PCI card predating the
requirement for the TRDY signal to respond within 16 clock ticks actually
does not meet this rule nor even the power-on defaults of the PCI bridges
found in development systems built around the Broadcom SiByte SOCs. Here
is a patch that bumps up the timeout to the highest finite value supported
by these chips, which is 255 clock ticks. The bridges affected are the
SiByte SOC itself and the SP1011.

 This change does not effectively affect systems only having PCI option
cards installed that meet the TRDY requirement of the current PCI spec.
The rule was introduced with PCI 2.1, so any older card may make the
system affected. If this is the case, performance of the system will
suffer in return for the card working at all. If this is a concern, then
the solution is not to use such cards.

Michael Chan f9317a40c4 [BNX2]: Disable MSI on 5706 if AMD 8132 bridge is present.
MSI is defined to be 32-bit write. The 5706 does 64-bit MSI writes
with byte enables disabled on the unused 32-bit word. This is legal
but causes problems on the AMD 8132 which will eventually stop
responding after a while.

Without this patch, the MSI test done by the driver during open will
pass, but MSI will eventually stop working after a few MSIs are
written by the device.

AMD believes this incompatibility is unique to the 5706, and
prefers to locally disable MSI rather than globally disabling it
using pci_msi_quirk.

The nVidia CK804 PCI-E chipset supports the AER extended capability
but sometimes fails to link it (with some BIOS or after a warm reboot).

linking of the capability.

Doug Thompson bd8481e164 [PATCH] PCI Bus Parity Status-broken hardware attribute, EDAC foundation
Currently, the EDAC (error detection and correction) modules that are in
the kernel contain some features that need to be moved. After some good
feedback on the PCI Parity detection code and interface
(http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0603.1/0897.html) this
patch ADDs an new attribute to the pci_dev structure: Namely the
'broken_parity_status' bit.

When set this indicates that the respective hardware generates false
positives of Parity errors.

The EDAC "blacklist" solution was inferior and will be removed in a
future patch.

Also in this patch is a PCI quirk.c entry for an Infiniband PCI-X card
which generates false positive parity errors.

I am requesting comments on this AND on the possibility of a exposing
this 'broken_parity_status' bit to userland via the PCI device sysfs
directory for devices. This access would allow for enabling of this
feature on new devices and for old devices that have their drivers
updated. (SLES 9 SP3 did this on an ATI motherboard video device). There
is a need to update such a PCI attribute between kernel releases.

This patch just adds a storage place for the attribute and a quirk entry
for a known bad PCI device. PCI Parity reaper/harvestor operations are
in EDAC itself and will be refactored to use this PCI attribute instead
of its own mechanisms (which are currently disabled) in the future.

John W. Linville 5da594b1c5 [PATCH] pci_ids.h: correct naming of 1022:7450 (AMD 8131 Bridge)
The naming of the constant defined for PCI ID 1022:7450 does not seem

There 1022:7450 is listed as "AMD-8131 PCI-X Bridge" while 1022:7451
is listed as "AMD-8131 PCI-X IOAPIC". Yet, the current definition for
0x7450 is PCI_DEVICE_ID_AMD_8131_APIC.	It seems to me like that name
should map to 0x7451, while a name like PCI_DEVICE_ID_AMD_8131_BRIDGE
should map to 0x7450.
