The definitions have moved to include/linux/usb/samsung-usb-phy.h,
and plat/usb-phy.h is unavailable from drivers in a multiplatform
configuration.
Also fix up the plat/usb-phy.h header file to use the definitions
from the new header instead of providing a separate copy.

Wishbone is an open hardware SoC bus commonly used in FPGA
designs. Bus access can be serialized using the Etherbone
protocol <http://www.ohwr.org/projects/etherbone-core>.
This driver is intended to be used with devices which attach
their internal Wishbone bus to a USB serial interface using
the Etherbone protocol. A userspace library is required to
speak the protocol made available by this driver as ttyUSBx.

Thist patch removes the depends on USB_EHCI_HCD that the various USB

Just like the OHCI counter part we just can remove the architecture
specific symbols which prevent these configuration symbols from being
selected by platforms/architectures requiring it. The original
implementation did not scale at all since it required each and every
single architecture to be added for these configuration symbols to be
selected. Now it is up to the EHCI driver and/or platform to select
these configuration symbols accordingly.

This patch removes the depends on USB from all config symbols in
drivers/usb/host/Kconfig and replace that with an if USB / endif block
as suggested by Alan Stern. Some source ... Kconfig lines have been
shuffled around to permit a better regroupment of the Kconfig files
depending on "config USB" item. No functionnal change is introduced.

raised an issue with ehci-s5p's driver data.
Now that 's5p_ehci_hcd' doesn't maintain pointer to 'usb_hcd'
and s5p_ehci is nothing but a pointer to hcd->priv;
add hcd to the driver data rather than s5p_ehci.
This fixes issues with null pointer dereferencing in
s5p_ehci_shutdown(), s5p_ehci_suspend(), s5p_ehci_resume().

The only part of proc_dir_entry the code outside of fs/proc
really cares about is PDE(inode)->data. Provide a helper
for that; static inline for now, eventually will be moved
to fs/proc, along with the knowledge of struct proc_dir_entry
layout.

Separate the Orion host controller driver from ehci-hcd host
code into its own driver module because of following reason.
With the multiplatform changes in arm-soc tree, it becomes
possible to enable the mvebu platform (which uses
ehci-orion) at the same time as other platforms that require
a conflicting EHCI bus glue. At the moment, this results
in a warning like

There are no functional changes in this patch. However, because the
compliance mode timer can be deleted in more than one function, it
seemed expedient to include the function name in the debug strings.
Also limited the use of capitals to the first word in the compliance
mode debug messages, except after a function name where all words
start with lower case, in keeping with the style prevalent elsewhere
in xhci.c.

Some drivers want to tell userspace what uid and gid should be used for
their device nodes, so allow that information to percolate through the
driver core to userspace in order to make this happen. This means that
some systems (i.e. Android and friends) will not need to even run a
udev-like daemon for their device node manager and can just rely in
devtmpfs fully, reducing their footprint even more.

"len" comes from the USB transfer and it's probably correct. The thing
is that we already have similar checks like:
if (data[i] >= serial->num_ports) {
So adding a sanity test here matches the rest of the code and is a good
idea.

We can remove the "if (urb->actual_length) {" check because checking for

In hardware_enqueue code adds one extra td with dma_pool_alloc if
mReq->req.zero is true. When _ep_nuke will be called for that endpoint,
dma_pool_free will not be called to free that memory again. That patch
fixes this.

The udc uses an shared dma memory space between hard and software. This
memory layout is described in ci13xxx_qh and ci13xxx_td which are marked
with the attribute ((packed)).
The compiler currently does not know about the alignment of the memory
layout, and will create strb and ldrb operations.
The Datasheet of the synopsys core describes, that some operations on
the mapped memory need to be atomic double word operations. I.e. the
next pointer addressing in the qhead, as otherwise the hardware will
read wrong data and totally stuck.
This is also possible while working with the current active td queue,
and preparing the td->ptr.next in software while the hardware is still
working with the current active td which is supposed to be changed:

This appeares on armv5 machines where the hardware does not support
unaligned 32bit operations.
This patch adds the attribute ((aligned(4))) to the structures to tell
the compiler to use 32bit operations. It also adds an wmb() for the
prepared TD data before it gets enqueued into the qhead.

The cleanup path checks whether the transceiver was properly initialized
using IS_ERR(). However it can also happen that the cleanup path is run
before the transceiver was initialized (or the operating mode isn't set
to TEGRA_USB_OTG) and is therefore NULL. Add a separate label for error
unwinding and initialize the transceiver field to ERR_PTR(-ENODEV) when
the operating mode isn't TEGRA_USB_OTG to allow for consistent checking.

Commit 756aa6b3d5 (ehci-hub: improved
over-current recovery) added port power cycling on overcurrent indications as
needed by the MPC8349 USB controller after resolving of the overcurrent
situation in order to have the host state machine assert the correct port
status again.
Commit 81463c1d70 (EHCI: only power off port if
over-current is active) solved a thus resulting issue of endless overcurrent
changes in combination with the MAX4967 USB power supply chip that signals
overcurrent when power is not enabled by only powering off a port if the
overcurrent is currently active.
Added quirks flag need_oc_pp_cycle in order to specify the needed behaviour as
there is no common behaviour that can comply with both requirements.
Activated the quirks handling for Freescale 83xx based boards.

recent changes to gadget framework have
exposed a flaw in nokia.c where it uses
f_ecm.c but it wasn't including it like
other gadget drivers.
This is a temporary patch until all other
function drivers are converted to new API
where each function driver becomes a module
and binding is done through configfs.

the f_obex's function code and its users.
This patch converts the f_obex.c to the new function interface.
The file is now compiled into a separate usb_f_obex.ko module.
The old function interface is provided by means of preprocessor
conditional directives. After all users are converted, the old interface
can be removed.

In order to convert to configfs the USB functions need to be converted
to the new interface from Sebastian, which also requires turning them
into separate modules. Some of these modules will consist of just
one object file, e.g. f_ncm.o. But some of the modules will eventually
consist of more than one object file, e.g. for mass storage there
will be f_mass_storage.o and storage_common.o. The resulting module
cannot be called f_mass_storage.ko due to cyclic dependency. This patch
introduces a naming scheme for the said resulting modules:
usb_f_xxxxxx.ko
e.g. usb_f_mass_storage.ko, usb_f_ss_lb.ko, usb_f_rndis.ko etc.

It possible to allocate the tty port number within the "instance"
structure of the function and there is no need to expose this
information within the gadget and therefore it is removed here.
This patch converts only f_acm and all its users. The other gadgets will
follow once the function is converted to the function interface.

the u_ether.c file has a global variable named the_dev which keeps a
pointer to the network device after it has been created via
gether_setup_name(). It is only used internally by u_ether. This patches
moves the variable to its users and passes it via the port.ioport where
it is saved later anyway.

ab8500_usb_delayed_work was implemented as a workaroud for the internal
only and now unsupported v1.0 version of AB850. This patch removes the
delayed work and just leave a link status update call at probe time.

Amend the ab8500-usb driver to optionally take a pin control handle and
set the state of the pins to "default" on ab8500_usb_phy_enable and to
"sleep" on ab8500_usb_phy_disable.
The pinctrl handle is released on ab8500_usb_phy_disable because USB
pins are shared with ab8505_micro_usb_iddet driver.

Fix last ab->phy.notifier call to use vbus_draw as notifier argument, as
that's used in ab8500_charger to control charging current.
Also drop a related TODO comment, and the additional
ux500_musb_set_vbus(musb, 0), as with this patch it was causing an
erratic behaviour of gadget ep0 state machine.

Use the newly introduced devm_ioremap_resource() instead of
devm_request_and_ioremap() which provides more consistent error handling.
devm_ioremap_resource() provides its own error messages; so all explicit
error messages can be removed from the failure code paths.

Enter IDMA_RESET only when the controller has been reset or
the device has been plugged in to or out from a host. In
IDMA_RESET, we should disable the corresponding PRD interrupt.
Also there is a redundant space eliminated.

Add CONFIG_PM_SLEEP to suspend/resume functions to fix the following

The musb controller uses single bit defintion for both reset and
babble events. The babble event is valid only when controller is
active a-host, and hence print the babble message only when the
controller is active a-host.

MUSB controller cannot work in DMA mode with misaligned buffers,
switching in PIO mode.
HCD core has hooks that allow to override the default DMA
mapping and unmapping routines for host controllers that have
special DMA requirements, such as alignment constraints.
It is observed that work in PIO mode is slow and it's better
to align buffers properly before passing them to MUSB
This increased throughput 80->120 MBits/s over musb@omap4 with
USB Gigabit Ethernet adapter attached.

This patch reworks the videobuffer management logic present in the UVC
webcam gadget and ports it to use the "more apt" videobuf2 framework for
video buffer management.
To support routing video data captured from a real V4L2 video capture
device with a "zero copy" operation on videobuffers (as they pass from
the V4L2 domain to UVC domain via a user-space application), we need to
support USER_PTR IO method at the UVC gadget side.
So the V4L2 capture device driver can still continue to use MMAP IO
method and now the user-space application can just pass a pointer to the
video buffers being dequeued from the V4L2 device side while queueing
them at the UVC gadget end. This ensures that we have a "zero-copy"
design as the videobuffers pass from the V4L2 capture device to the UVC
gadget.
Note that there will still be a need to apply UVC specific payload
headers on top of each UVC payload data, which will still require a copy
operation to be performed in the 'encode' routines of the UVC gadget.
This patch also addresses one issue found out while porting the UVC
gadget to videobuf2 framework:
- In case the usb requests queued by the gadget get completed
with a status of -ESHUTDOWN (disconnected from host),
the queue of videobuf2 should be cancelled to ensure that the
application space daemon is not left in a state waiting for
a vb2 to be successfully absorbed at the USB side.

On some platform configurations (like OMAP3+twl4030) it's the platform
code that enables VBUS, not OTG transceiver, so call vbus platform
callback instead, it will then call the transceiver if needed.
This fixes a use case where USB cable is plugged first and gadget
driver is loaded later after that.

On USB_EVENT_ID event the musb glue enables VBUS by calling
omap2430_musb_set_vbus(musb, 1) that sets the session bit, but on
USB_EVENT_NONE reverse action is never made, and that breaks PM.
Disable VBUS on USB_EVENT_NONE to be sure musb session is ended
on cable unplug so that PM works.

At least on pandora, STS_VBUS gets set even when VBUS is driven by twl
itself. Reporting VBUS in this case confuses OMAP musb glue and charger
driver, so check if OTG VBUS charge pump is on before reporting VBUS
event to avoid this problem.

Remove the call to dev_pm_qos_hide_flags(), added by commit 6e30d7cb
"usb: Add driver/usb/core/(port.c,hub.h) files", from
usb_port_device_release(), because (1) it is completely unnecessary
(the flags have been removed already by the PM core during the
unregistration of the device object) and (2) it triggers a NULL
pointer dereference in sysfs_find_dirent() (dev->kobj.sd is NULL at
this point).

A static count of transfer descriptors was used everywhere in the driver
with the fixed number 5. This patch adds a define, named TD_PAGE_COUNT,
and replaces all users of this value. This way its possible to have only
one parameter to change and limit the amount of buffer pointers per TD.

There is no need to call ep_queue unlocked inside the own driver. We
move its functionionality into an unlocked version.
This patch removes potential unlocked timeslots inside
isr_setup_status_phase and isr_get_status_response, in which the lock
got released just before acquired again inside usb_ep_queue.

Convert between big-endian and little-endian format when accessing the usb
controller structures which are little-endian by specification.
Fix cases where the little-endian memory layout is taken for granted.
The patch doesn't have any effect on the already supported little-endian
architectures.

This fixes a potential race condition where the ci13xxx_imx glue code
could be fast enough to call one of the usbmisc_ops before he got a
valid value on the static usbmisc pointer. To fix that we first set
usbmisc, then call usbmisc_set_ops().

The intent here was to have parenthesis around the (ci->hw_ep_max / 2)
so that it counts like "0 1 2 0 1 2". In the current code, the mod

Currently, we have a bunch of files in sysfs that display all sorts of
debugging information for the device controller, so they have to move to
debugfs where they belong. The "registers" interface have been removed,
since it doesn't fit into the current driver design as is and it's hardly
a good idea to touch the registers from userspace anyway.

As part of the legacy from the original driver design, we retain home-grown
tracing infrastructure, complete with own ring buffer and timestamps,

There are several problems with this patch:
+ in introduces a sparse warning for a condition that's always negative,
+ and because of that, it actually doesn't do anything useful,
+ and vbus detection belongs to otg, not device function anyway.

Commit 9214d1d8 set the USB persist flag as a default for all devices.
This might be desirable for some distributions, but it certainly has its
trade-offs... most importantly, it can significantly increase system
resume time, because the kernel blocks on resuming (and sometimes
resetting) USB devices before it unfreezes userspace.
This patch introduces a new config option CONFIG_USB_DEFAULT_PERSIST,
which allows distributions to make this decision on their own without
the need to carry a custom patch or revert the kernel's setting in
userspace.

Patch 4d053fdac3 "usb: ehci: unlink_empty_async_suspended() only used
with CONFIG_PM" tried to hide the unlink_empty_async_suspended function
inside of an #ifdef to work around an unused function warning.
Unfortunately that had the effect of introducing a new warning:

While we could add another #ifdef around the function declaration to avoid
this, a nicer solution is to mark it as __maybe_unused, which will let

It seems to be getting more common recently for EHCI host controllers
to be probed after their companion UHCI or OHCI controllers. This may
be caused partly by splitting the ehci-pci driver out from ehci-hcd,
or it may be caused by changes in the way the kernel does driver
probing.
Regardless, it has a tendency to cause problems. When an EHCI
controller is initialized, it takes ownership of all the ports away
from the companions. In effect, it forcefully disconnects all the USB
devices that may already be using a companion controller.
This patch (as1672b) tries to make the transition more orderly by
deconfiguring the root hubs for all the companion controllers before
initializing the EHCI controller, and reconfiguring them afterward.
The result is a soft disconnect rather than a hard one.
Internally, the patch refactors the code involved in associating EHCI
controllers with their companions. The old approach, in which a
single function is called with an argument telling it what to do (the
companion_action enum), has been replaced with a scheme using multiple
callback functions, each performing a single task.
This patch won't solve all the problems people encounter when their
EHCI controllers start up, but it will at least reduce the number of
error messages generated by the unexpected disconnections.

This lets us use the ehci-platform driver on platforms without special
requirements for their ehci controllers. In particular, this is true
for the vt8500/wm8x50 platforms, which currently have a separate
driver that causes problems with multiplatform configurations.

This patch (as1675) removes the CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND option, essentially
replacing it everywhere with CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME (except for one place
in hub.c, where it is replaced with CONFIG_PM because the code needs
to be used in both runtime and system PM). The net result is code
shrinkage and simplification.
There's very little point in keeping CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND because almost
everybody enables it. The few that don't will find that the usbcore
module has gotten somewhat bigger and they will have to take active
measures if they want to prevent hubs from being runtime suspended.

This patch (as1674) speeds up system sleep transitions by not
suspending each individual device on a USB-1.1 or USB-2 bus. The
devices will automatically go into suspend when their root hubs are
suspended (i.e., stop sending out Start-Of-Frame packets) -- this is
what the USB spec calls "global suspend".
Since this is what we do already when CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND isn't
enabled, it shouldn't cause any problems.

This patch (as1673) reduces the amount of log spew from the hub driver
by removing a bunch of error messages in the case where the device in
question is already known to have been disconnected. Since the
disconnect event itself appears in the log, there's no need for other
error messages.

means we can use linux-next to compile it
for us frequently.
By dropping the arch dependency, we also
ensure driver writers don't add virtual
arch-depdencies to the driver by e.g. using
the wrong headers.
While at that, fix Marvell's USB3 PHY dependency,
that's the driver which depends on CPU_MM3, not
mv_u3d_core.

The only interesting thing here is Tianyu's two patches to fix the USB
port connection type discovery, for the USB port power off mechanism.
This adds new USB host API, but as discussed, it's necessary to avoid
powering off the wrong USB port. It's not marked for backport to stable
kernels, since the sysfs mechanism to manually power off a port didn't
go in until 3.9.
I've smoke tested these, including system suspend, USB device suspend,
and rocking out in my cube with a pair of USB headphones. They look
fine to me.
Hibernate is currently broken on my system, due to some nouveau MMIO
read faults. I'll report that separately.

one bug which can cause kernel hang when opening port.
This patch initialized the 'port->delta_msr_wait' waitqueue head
