Pavel Shilovsky 53e0e11efe CIFS: Fix a possible memory corruption during reconnect
We can not unlock/lock cifs_tcp_ses_lock while walking through ses
and tcon lists because it can corrupt list iterator pointers and
a tcon structure can be released if we don't hold an extra reference.
Fix it by moving a reconnect process to a separate delayed work
and acquiring a reference to every tcon that needs to be reconnected.
Also do not send an echo request on newly established connections.

Steve French 8b217fe7fc SMB3: parsing for new snapshot timestamp mount parm
New mount option "snapshot=<time>" to allow mounting an earlier
version of the remote volume (if such a snapshot exists on
the server).

Note that eventually specifying a snapshot time of 1 will allow
the user to mount the oldest snapshot. A subsequent patch
add the processing for that and another for actually specifying
the "time warp" create context on SMB2/SMB3 open.

Check to make sure SMB2 negotiated, and ensure that
we use a different tcon if mount same share twice
but with different snaphshot times

Eryu Guan ae9ebe7c4e CIFS: iterate over posix acl xattr entry correctly in ACL_to_cifs_posix()
Commit 2211d5ba5c ("posix_acl: xattr representation cleanups")
removes the typedefs and the zero-length a_entries array in struct
posix_acl_xattr_header, and uses bare struct posix_acl_xattr_header
and struct posix_acl_xattr_entry directly.

But it failed to iterate over posix acl slots when converting posix
acls to CIFS format, which results in several test failures in
xfstests (generic/053 generic/105) when testing against a samba v1
server, starting from v4.9-rc1 kernel. e.g.

Sachin Prabhu b8c600120f Call echo service immediately after socket reconnect
Commit 4fcd1813e6 ("Fix reconnect to not defer smb3 session reconnect
long after socket reconnect") changes the behaviour of the SMB2 echo
service and causes it to renegotiate after a socket reconnect. However
under default settings, the echo service could take up to 120 seconds to
be scheduled.

The patch forces the echo service to be called immediately resulting a
negotiate call being made immediately on reconnect.

Steve French 3514de3fd5 CIFS: Retrieve uid and gid from special sid if enabled
New mount option "idsfromsid" indicates to cifs.ko that
it should try to retrieve the uid and gid owner fields
from special sids.  This patch adds the code to parse the owner
sids in the ACL to see if they match, and if so populate the
uid and/or gid from them.  This is faster than upcalling for
them and asking winbind, and is a fairly common case, and is
also helpful when cifs.upcall and idmapping is not configured.

Pavel Shilovsky de74025052 CIFS: Reset read oplock to NONE if we have mandatory locks after reopen
We are already doing the same thing for an ordinary open case:
we can't keep read oplock on a file if we have mandatory byte-range
locks because pagereading can conflict with these locks on a server.
Fix it by setting oplock level to NONE.

Pavel Shilovsky f2cca6a7c9 CIFS: Fix persistent handles re-opening on reconnect
openFileList of tcon can be changed while cifs_reopen_file() is called
that can lead to an unexpected behavior when we return to the loop.
Fix this by introducing a temp list for keeping all file handles that
need to be reopen.

Steve French 141891f472 SMB3: Add mount parameter to allow user to override max credits
Add mount option "max_credits" to allow setting maximum SMB3
credits to any value from 10 to 64000 (default is 32000).
This can be useful to workaround servers with problems allocating
credits, or to throttle the client to use smaller amount of
simultaneous i/o or to workaround server performance issues.

Also adds a cap, so that even if the server granted us more than
65000 credits due to a server bug, we would not use that many.

Steve French 52ace1ef12 fs/cifs: reopen persistent handles on reconnect
Continuous Availability features like persistent handles
require that clients reconnect their open files, not
just the sessions, soon after the network connection comes
back up, otherwise the server will throw away the state
(byte range locks, leases, deny modes) on those handles
after a timeout.

Add code to reconnect handles when use_persistent set
(e.g. Continuous Availability shares) after tree reconnect.

Steve French 3afca265b5 Clarify locking of cifs file and tcon structures and make more granular
Remove the global file_list_lock to simplify cifs/smb3 locking and
have spinlocks that more closely match the information they are
protecting.

Add new tcon->open_file_lock and file->file_info_lock spinlocks.
Locks continue to follow a heirachy,
	cifs_socket --> cifs_ses --> cifs_tcon --> cifs_file
where global tcp_ses_lock still protects socket and cifs_ses, while the
the newer locks protect the lower level structure's information
(tcon and cifs_file respectively).

Aurelien Aptel 94f8737175 fs/cifs: keep guid when assigning fid to fileinfo
When we open a durable handle we give a Globally Unique
Identifier (GUID) to the server which we must keep for later reference
e.g. when reopening persistent handles on reconnection.

Without this the GUID generated for a new persistent handle was lost and
16 zero bytes were used instead on re-opening.

Ross Lagerwall 7d414f396c cifs: Limit the overall credit acquired
The kernel client requests 2 credits for many operations even though
they only use 1 credit (presumably to build up a buffer of credit).
Some servers seem to give the client as much credit as is requested.  In
this case, the amount of credit the client has continues increasing to
the point where (server->credits * MAX_BUFFER_SIZE) overflows in
smb2_wait_mtu_credits().

Fix this by throttling the credit requests if an set limit is reached.
For async requests where the credit charge may be > 1, request as much
credit as what is charged.
The limit is chosen somewhat arbitrarily. The Windows client
defaults to 128 credits, the Windows server allows clients up to
512 credits (or 8192 for Windows 2016), and the NetApp server
(and at least one other) does not limit clients at all.
Choose a high enough value such that the client shouldn't limit
performance.

This behavior was seen with a NetApp filer (NetApp Release 9.0RC2).

Steve French 9742805d6b Display number of credits available
In debugging smb3, it is useful to display the number
of credits available, so we can see when the server has not granted
sufficient operations for the client to make progress, or alternatively
the client has requested too many credits (as we saw in a recent bug)
so we can compare with the number of credits the server thinks
we have.

Add a /proc/fs/cifs/DebugData line to display the client view
on how many credits are available.

Deepa Dinamani c2050a454c fs: Replace current_fs_time() with current_time()
current_fs_time() uses struct super_block* as an argument.
As per Linus's suggestion, this is changed to take struct
inode* as a parameter instead. This is because the function
is primarily meant for vfs inode timestamps.
Also the function was renamed as per Arnd's suggestion.

Change all calls to current_fs_time() to use the new
current_time() function instead. current_fs_time() will be
deleted.

Jan Kara 31051c85b5 fs: Give dentry to inode_change_ok() instead of inode
inode_change_ok() will be resposible for clearing capabilities and IMA
extended attributes and as such will need dentry. Give it as an argument
to inode_change_ok() instead of an inode. Also rename inode_change_ok()
to setattr_prepare() to better relect that it does also some
modifications in addition to checks.

The patch
fs/cifs: make share unaccessible at root level mountable
makes use of prepaths when any component of the underlying path is
inaccessible.

When mounting 2 separate shares having different prepaths but are other
wise similar in other respects, we end up sharing superblocks when we
shouldn't be doing so.

Linus Torvalds 554828ee0d Merge branch 'salted-string-hash'
This changes the vfs dentry hashing to mix in the parent pointer at the
_beginning_ of the hash, rather than at the end.

That actually improves both the hash and the code generation, because we
can move more of the computation to the "static" part of the dcache
setup, and do less at lookup runtime.

It turns out that a lot of other hash users also really wanted to mix in
a base pointer as a 'salt' for the hash, and so the slightly extended
interface ends up working well for other cases too.

Users that want a string hash that is purely about the string pass in a
'salt' pointer of NULL.

Pavel Shilovsky 7893242e24 CIFS: Fix a possible invalid memory access in smb2_query_symlink()
During following a symbolic link we received err_buf from SMB2_open().
While the validity of SMB2 error response is checked previously
in smb2_check_message() a symbolic link payload is not checked at all.
Fix it by adding such checks.

Aurelien Aptel a6b5058faf fs/cifs: make share unaccessible at root level mountable
if, when mounting //HOST/share/sub/dir/foo we can query /sub/dir/foo but
not any of the path components above:

- store the /sub/dir/foo prefix in the cifs super_block info
- in the superblock, set root dentry to the subpath dentry (instead of
  the share root)
- set a flag in the superblock to remember it
- use prefixpath when building path from a dentry

Michal Hocko 8a5c743e30 mm, memcg: use consistent gfp flags during readahead
Vladimir has noticed that we might declare memcg oom even during
readahead because read_pages only uses GFP_KERNEL (with mapping_gfp
restriction) while __do_page_cache_readahead uses
page_cache_alloc_readahead which adds __GFP_NORETRY to prevent from
OOMs.  This gfp mask discrepancy is really unfortunate and easily
fixable.  Drop page_cache_alloc_readahead() which only has one user and
outsource the gfp_mask logic into readahead_gfp_mask and propagate this
mask from __do_page_cache_readahead down to read_pages.

This alone would have only very limited impact as most filesystems are
implementing ->readpages and the common implementation mpage_readpages
does GFP_KERNEL (with mapping_gfp restriction) again.  We can tell it to
use readahead_gfp_mask instead as this function is called only during
readahead as well.  The same applies to read_cache_pages.

ext4 has its own ext4_mpage_readpages but the path which has pages !=
NULL can use the same gfp mask.  Btrfs, cifs, f2fs and orangefs are
doing a very similar pattern to mpage_readpages so the same can be
applied to them as well.

Rabin Vincent b782fcc1cb cifs: unbreak TCP session reuse
adfeb3e0 ("cifs: Make echo interval tunable") added a comparison of
vol->echo_interval to server->echo_interval as a criterium to
match_server(), but:

 (1) A default value is set for server->echo_interval but not for
 vol->echo_interval, meaning these can never match if the echo_interval
 option is not specified.

 (2) vol->echo_interval is in seconds but server->echo_interval is in
 jiffies, meaning these can never match even if the echo_interval option
 is specified.

This broke TCP session reuse since match_server() can never return 1.
Fix it.

Sachin Prabhu 8d9535b6ef cifs: Check for existing directory when opening file with O_CREAT
When opening a file with O_CREAT flag, check to see if the file opened
is an existing directory.

This prevents the directory from being opened which subsequently causes
a crash when the close function for directories cifs_closedir() is called
which frees up the file->private_data memory while the file is still
listed on the open file list for the tcon.

Steve French 45e8a2583d File names with trailing period or space need special case conversion
POSIX allows files with trailing spaces or a trailing period but
SMB3 does not, so convert these using the normal Services For Mac
mapping as we do for other reserved characters such as
	: < > | ? *
This is similar to what Macs do for the same problem over SMB3.

Steve French 4fcd1813e6 Fix reconnect to not defer smb3 session reconnect long after socket reconnect
Azure server blocks clients that open a socket and don't do anything on it.
In our reconnect scenarios, we can reconnect the tcp session and
detect the socket is available but we defer the negprot and SMB3 session
setup and tree connect reconnection until the next i/o is requested, but
this looks suspicous to some servers who expect SMB3 negprog and session
setup soon after a socket is created.

In the echo thread, reconnect SMB3 sessions and tree connections
that are disconnected.  A later patch will replay persistent (and
resilient) handle opens.

Jerome Marchand b8da344b74 cifs: dynamic allocation of ntlmssp blob
In sess_auth_rawntlmssp_authenticate(), the ntlmssp blob is allocated
statically and its size is an "empirical" 5*sizeof(struct
_AUTHENTICATE_MESSAGE) (320B on x86_64). I don't know where this value
comes from or if it was ever appropriate, but it is currently
insufficient: the user and domain name in UTF16 could take 1kB by
themselves. Because of that, build_ntlmssp_auth_blob() might corrupt
memory (out-of-bounds write). The size of ntlmssp_blob in
SMB2_sess_setup() is too small too (sizeof(struct _NEGOTIATE_MESSAGE)
+ 500).

This patch allocates the blob dynamically in
build_ntlmssp_auth_blob().

Jeff Layton 3d22462ae9 cifs: stuff the fl_owner into "pid" field in the lock request
Right now, we send the tgid cross the wire. What we really want to send
though is a hashed fl_owner_t since samba treats this field as a generic
lockowner.

It turns out that because we enforce and release locks locally before
they are ever sent to the server, this patch makes no difference in
behavior. Still, setting OFD locks on the server using the process
pid seems wrong, so I think this patch still makes sense.

Linus Torvalds 8387ff2577 vfs: make the string hashes salt the hash
We always mixed in the parent pointer into the dentry name hash, but we
did it late at lookup time.  It turns out that we can simplify that
lookup-time action by salting the hash with the parent pointer early
instead of late.

A few other users of our string hashes also wanted to mix in their own
pointers into the hash, and those are updated to use the same mechanism.

Hash users that don't have any particular initial salt can just use the
NULL pointer as a no-salt.

Sachin Prabhu b74cb9a802 cifs: Create dedicated keyring for spnego operations
The session key is the default keyring set for request_key operations.
This session key is revoked when the user owning the session logs out.
Any long running daemon processes started by this session ends up with
revoked session keyring which prevents these processes from using the
request_key mechanism from obtaining the krb5 keys.

The problem has been reported by a large number of autofs users. The
problem is also seen with multiuser mounts where the share may be used
by processes run by a user who has since logged out. A reproducer using
automount is available on the Red Hat bz.

The patch creates a new keyring which is used to cache cifs spnego
upcalls.

Steve French 897fba1172 remove directory incorrectly tries to set delete on close on non-empty directories
Wrong return code was being returned on SMB3 rmdir of
non-empty directory.

For SMB3 (unlike for cifs), we attempt to delete a directory by
set of delete on close flag on the open. Windows clients set
this flag via a set info (SET_FILE_DISPOSITION to set this flag)
which properly checks if the directory is empty.

With this patch on smb3 mounts we correctly return
 "DIRECTORY NOT EMPTY"
on attempts to remove a non-empty directory.

Sachin Prabhu 11e31647c9 cifs: remove any preceding delimiter from prefix_path
We currently do not check if any delimiter exists before the prefix
path in cifs_compose_mount_options(). Consequently when building the
devname using cifs_build_devname() we can end up with multiple
delimiters separating the UNC and the prefix path.

An issue was reported by the customer mounting a folder within a DFS
share from a Netapp server which uses McAfee antivirus. We have
narrowed down the cause to the use of double backslashes in the file
name used to open the file. This was determined to be caused because of
additional delimiters as a result of the bug.

In addition to changes in cifs_build_devname(), we also fix
cifs_parse_devname() to ignore any preceding delimiter for the prefix
path.

The problem was originally reported on RHEL 6 in RHEL bz 1252721. This
is the upstream version of the fix. The fix was confirmed by looking at
the packet capture of a DFS mount.

Goldwyn Rodrigues 1f1735cb75 cifs: Use file_dentry()
CIFS may be used as lower layer of overlayfs and accessing f_path.dentry can
lead to a crash.

Fix by replacing direct access of file->f_path.dentry with the
file_dentry() accessor, which will always return a native object.

Christoph Hellwig e259221763 fs: simplify the generic_write_sync prototype
The kiocb already has the new position, so use that.  The only interesting
case is AIO, where we currently don't bother updating ki_pos.  We're about
to free the kiocb after we're done, so we might as well update it to make
everyone's life simpler.

While we're at it also return the bytes written argument passed in if
we were successful so that the boilerplate error switch code in the
callers can go away.

Andreas Gruenbacher a9ae008f40 cifs: Switch to generic xattr handlers
Use xattr handlers for resolving attribute names.  The amount of setup
code required on cifs is nontrivial, so use the same get and set
functions for all handlers, with switch statements for the different
types of attributes in them.

The set_EA handler can handle NULL values, so we don't need a separate
removexattr function anymore.  Remove the cifs_dbg statements related to
xattr name resolution; they don't add much.  Don't build xattr.o when
CONFIG_CIFS_XATTR is not defined.

David Howells 5ac7eace2d KEYS: Add a facility to restrict new links into a keyring
Add a facility whereby proposed new links to be added to a keyring can be
vetted, permitting them to be rejected if necessary.  This can be used to
block public keys from which the signature cannot be verified or for which
the signature verification fails.  It could also be used to provide
blacklisting.

This affects operations like add_key(), KEYCTL_LINK and KEYCTL_INSTANTIATE.

To this end:

 (1) A function pointer is added to the key struct that, if set, points to
     the vetting function.  This is called as:

	int (*restrict_link)(struct key *keyring,
			     const struct key_type *key_type,
			     unsigned long key_flags,
			     const union key_payload *key_payload),

     where 'keyring' will be the keyring being added to, key_type and
     key_payload will describe the key being added and key_flags[*] can be
     AND'ed with KEY_FLAG_TRUSTED.

     [*] This parameter will be removed in a later patch when
     	 KEY_FLAG_TRUSTED is removed.

     The function should return 0 to allow the link to take place or an
     error (typically -ENOKEY, -ENOPKG or -EKEYREJECTED) to reject the
     link.

     The pointer should not be set directly, but rather should be set
     through keyring_alloc().

     Note that if called during add_key(), preparse is called before this
     method, but a key isn't actually allocated until after this function
     is called.

 (2) KEY_ALLOC_BYPASS_RESTRICTION is added.  This can be passed to
     key_create_or_update() or key_instantiate_and_link() to bypass the
     restriction check.

 (3) KEY_FLAG_TRUSTED_ONLY is removed.  The entire contents of a keyring
     with this restriction emplaced can be considered 'trustworthy' by
     virtue of being in the keyring when that keyring is consulted.

 (4) key_alloc() and keyring_alloc() take an extra argument that will be
     used to set restrict_link in the new key.  This ensures that the
     pointer is set before the key is published, thus preventing a window
     of unrestrictedness.  Normally this argument will be NULL.

 (5) As a temporary affair, keyring_restrict_trusted_only() is added.  It
     should be passed to keyring_alloc() as the extra argument instead of
     setting KEY_FLAG_TRUSTED_ONLY on a keyring.  This will be replaced in
     a later patch with functions that look in the appropriate places for
     authoritative keys.

Kirill A. Shutemov 09cbfeaf1a mm, fs: get rid of PAGE_CACHE_* and page_cache_{get,release} macros
PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} macros were introduced *long* time
ago with promise that one day it will be possible to implement page
cache with bigger chunks than PAGE_SIZE.

This promise never materialized.  And unlikely will.

We have many places where PAGE_CACHE_SIZE assumed to be equal to
PAGE_SIZE.  And it's constant source of confusion on whether
PAGE_CACHE_* or PAGE_* constant should be used in a particular case,
especially on the border between fs and mm.

Global switching to PAGE_CACHE_SIZE != PAGE_SIZE would cause to much
breakage to be doable.

Let's stop pretending that pages in page cache are special.  They are
not.

The changes are pretty straight-forward:

 - <foo> << (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>;

 - <foo> >> (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>;

 - PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} -> PAGE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN};

 - page_cache_get() -> get_page();

 - page_cache_release() -> put_page();

This patch contains automated changes generated with coccinelle using
script below.  For some reason, coccinelle doesn't patch header files.
I've called spatch for them manually.

The only adjustment after coccinelle is revert of changes to
PAGE_CAHCE_ALIGN definition: we are going to drop it later.

There are few places in the code where coccinelle didn't reach.  I'll
fix them manually in a separate patch.  Comments and documentation also
will be addressed with the separate patch.

Kees Cook 1404297ebf lib: update single-char callers of strtobool()
Some callers of strtobool() were passing a pointer to unterminated
strings.  In preparation of adding multi-character processing to

Yadan Fan 1ee9f4bd1a Fix cifs_uniqueid_to_ino_t() function for s390x
This issue is caused by commit 02323db17e ("cifs: fix
cifs_uniqueid_to_ino_t not to ever return 0"), when BITS_PER_LONG
is 64 on s390x, the corresponding cifs_uniqueid_to_ino_t()
function will cast 64-bit fileid to 32-bit by using (ino_t)fileid,
because ino_t (typdefed __kernel_ino_t) is int type.

It's defined in arch/s390/include/uapi/asm/posix_types.h

    #ifndef __s390x__

    typedef unsigned long   __kernel_ino_t;
    ...
    #else /* __s390x__ */

    typedef unsigned int    __kernel_ino_t;

So the #ifdef condition is wrong for s390x, we can just still use
one cifs_uniqueid_to_ino_t() function with comparing sizeof(ino_t)
and sizeof(u64) to choose the correct execution accordingly.

Justin Maggard deb7deff2f cifs: fix out-of-bounds access in lease parsing
When opening a file, SMB2_open() attempts to parse the lease state from the
SMB2 CREATE Response.  However, the parsing code was not careful to ensure
that the create contexts are not empty or invalid, which can lead to out-
of-bounds memory access.  This can be seen easily by trying

Kirill A. Shutemov 48c935ad88 page-flags: define PG_locked behavior on compound pages
lock_page() must operate on the whole compound page.  It doesn't make
much sense to lock part of compound page.  Change code to use head
page's PG_locked, if tail page is passed.

This patch also gets rid of custom helper functions --
__set_page_locked() and __clear_page_locked().  They are replaced with
helpers generated by __SETPAGEFLAG/__CLEARPAGEFLAG.  Tail pages to these
helper would trigger VM_BUG_ON().

SLUB uses PG_locked as a bit spin locked.  IIUC, tail pages should never
appear there.  VM_BUG_ON() is added to make sure that this assumption is
correct.

Mark those kmem allocations that are known to be easily triggered from
userspace as __GFP_ACCOUNT/SLAB_ACCOUNT, which makes them accounted to
memcg.  For the list, see below:

 - pid
 - cred
 - mm_struct
 - vm_area_struct and vm_region (nommu)
 - anon_vma and anon_vma_chain
 - signal_struct
 - sighand_struct
 - fs_struct
 - files_struct
 - fdtable and fdtable->full_fds_bits
 - dentry and external_name
 - inode for all filesystems. This is the most tedious part, because
   most filesystems overwrite the alloc_inode method.

The list is far from complete, so feel free to add more objects.
Nevertheless, it should be close to "account everything" approach and
keep most workloads within bounds.  Malevolent users will be able to
breach the limit, but this was possible even with the former "account
everything" approach (simply because it did not account everything in
fact).

In some cases tmp_bug can be not filled in cifs_filldir and stay uninitialized,
therefore its printk with "%s" modifier can leak content of kernelspace memory.
If old content of this buffer does not contain '\0' access bejond end of
allocated object can crash the host.

Rabin Vincent 820962dc70 cifs: fix race between call_async() and reconnect()
cifs_call_async() queues the MID to the pending list and calls
smb_send_rqst().  If smb_send_rqst() performs a partial send, it sets
the tcpStatus to CifsNeedReconnect and returns an error code to
cifs_call_async().  In this case, cifs_call_async() removes the MID
from the list and returns to the caller.

However, cifs_call_async() releases the server mutex _before_ removing
the MID.  This means that a cifs_reconnect() can race with this function
and manage to remove the MID from the list and delete the entry before
cifs_call_async() calls cifs_delete_mid().  This leads to various
crashes due to the use after free in cifs_delete_mid().

Steve French adfeb3e00e cifs: Make echo interval tunable
Currently the echo interval is set to 60 seconds using a macro. This
setting determines the interval at which echo requests are sent to the
server on an idling connection. This setting also affects the time
required for a connection to an unresponsive server to timeout.

Making this setting a tunable allows users to control the echo interval
times as well as control the time after which the connecting to an
unresponsive server times out.

To set echo interval, pass the echo_interval=n mount option.

Ross Lagerwall a108471b57 cifs: Check uniqueid for SMB2+ and return -ESTALE if necessary
Commit 7196ac113a ("Fix to check Unique id and FileType when client
refer file directly.") checks whether the uniqueid of an inode has
changed when getting the inode info, but only when using the UNIX
extensions. Add a similar check for SMB2+, since this can be done
without an extra network roundtrip.

Before this patch, only the hostname of the server
is printed when it becomes unresponsive.
This might not be helpful, if the IP-Address has
changed since initial mount when the name was
resolved (e.g. because the IPv6-Prefix changed).

This patch adds the cached IP address of the unresponsive server,
to the log message.

Jamie Bainbridge ec7147a99e cifs: Ratelimit kernel log messages
Under some conditions, CIFS can repeatedly call the cifs_dbg() logging
wrapper. If done rapidly enough, the console framebuffer can softlockup
or "rcu_sched self-detected stall". Apply the built-in log ratelimiters
to prevent such hangs.

Jan Stancek reported that I wrecked things for him by fixing things for
Vladimir :/

His report was due to an UNINTERRUPTIBLE wait getting -EINTR, which
should not be possible, however my previous patch made this possible by
unconditionally checking signal_pending().

We cannot use current->state as was done previously, because the
instruction after the store to that variable it can be changed.  We must
instead pass the initial state along and use that.

Al Viro 6b2553918d replace ->follow_link() with new method that could stay in RCU mode
new method: ->get_link(); replacement of ->follow_link().  The differences
are:
	* inode and dentry are passed separately
	* might be called both in RCU and non-RCU mode;
the former is indicated by passing it a NULL dentry.
	* when called that way it isn't allowed to block
and should return ERR_PTR(-ECHILD) if it needs to be called
in non-RCU mode.

It's a flagday change - the old method is gone, all in-tree instances
converted.  Conversion isn't hard; said that, so far very few instances
do not immediately bail out when called in RCU mode.  That'll change
in the next commits.

Christoph Hellwig 04b38d6012 vfs: pull btrfs clone API to vfs layer
The btrfs clone ioctls are now adopted by other file systems, with NFS
and CIFS already having support for them, and XFS being under active
development.  To avoid growth of various slightly incompatible
implementations, add one to the VFS.  Note that clones are different from
file copies in several ways:

 - they are atomic vs other writers
 - they support whole file clones
 - they support 64-bit legth clones
 - they do not allow partial success (aka short writes)
 - clones are expected to be a fast metadata operation

Because of that it would be rather cumbersome to try to piggyback them on
top of the recent clone_file_range infrastructure.  The converse isn't
true and the clone_file_range system call could try clone file range as
a first attempt to copy, something that further patches will enable.

Steve French 7b52e2793a Allow copy offload (CopyChunk) across shares
FSCTL_SRV_COPYCHUNK_WRITE only requires that the source and target
be on the same server (not the same volume or same share),
so relax the existing check (which required them to be on
the same share). Note that this works to Windows (and presumably
most other NAS) but Samba requires that the source
and target be on the same share.  Moving a file across
shares is a common use case and can be very heplful (100x faster).

Michal Hocko c62d25556b mm, fs: introduce mapping_gfp_constraint()
There are many places which use mapping_gfp_mask to restrict a more
generic gfp mask which would be used for allocations which are not
directly related to the page cache but they are performed in the same
context.

Let's introduce a helper function which makes the restriction explicit and

Steve French 592fafe644 Add resilienthandles mount parm
Since many servers (Windows clients, and non-clustered servers) do not
support persistent handles but do support resilient handles, allow
the user to specify a mount option "resilienthandles" in order
to get more reliable connections and less chance of data loss
(at least when SMB2.1 or later).  Default resilient handle
timeout (120 seconds to recent Windows server) is used.

mapping.  There are, however, other places which are doing basically the
same.

lustre:ll_dir_filler is doing GFP_KERNEL from the function which
apparently uses GFP_NOFS for other allocations so let's make this
consistent.

cifs:readpages_get_pages is called from cifs_readpages and
__cifs_readpages_from_fscache called from the same path obeys mapping
gfp.

ramfs_nommu_expand_for_mapping is hardcoding GFP_KERNEL as well
regardless it uses mapping_gfp_mask for the page allocation.

ext4_mpage_readpages is the called from the page cache allocation path
same as read_pages and read_cache_pages

As I've noticed in my previous post I cannot say I would be happy about
sprinkling mapping_gfp_mask all over the place and it sounds like we
should drop gfp_mask argument altogether and use it internally in
__add_to_page_cache_locked that would require all the filesystems to use
mapping gfp consistently which I am not sure is the case here.  From a
quick glance it seems that some file system use it all the time while
others are selective.

Steve French 646200a041 [SMB3] Do not fall back to SMBWriteX in set_file_size error cases
The error paths in set_file_size for cifs and smb3 are incorrect.

In the unlikely event that a server did not support set file info
of the file size, the code incorrectly falls back to trying SMBWriteX
(note that only the original core SMB Write, used for example by DOS,
can set the file size this way - this actually  does not work for the more
recent SMBWriteX).  The idea was since the old DOS SMB Write could set
the file size if you write zero bytes at that offset then use that if
server rejects the normal set file info call.

Fortunately the SMBWriteX will never be sent on the wire (except when
file size is zero) since the length and offset fields were reversed
in the two places in this function that call SMBWriteX causing
the fall back path to return an error. It is also important to never call
an SMB request from an SMB2/sMB3 session (which theoretically would
be possible, and can cause a brief session drop, although the client
recovers) so this should be fixed.  In practice this path does not happen
with modern servers but the error fall back to SMBWriteX is clearly wrong.

Removing the calls to SMBWriteX in the error paths in cifs_set_file_size

Peter Seiderer 98ce94c8df cifs: use server timestamp for ntlmv2 authentication
Linux cifs mount with ntlmssp against an Mac OS X (Yosemite
10.10.5) share fails in case the clocks differ more than +/-2h:

digest-service: digest-request: od failed with 2 proto=ntlmv2

Fix this by (re-)using the given server timestamp for the
ntlmv2 authentication (as Windows 7 does).

A related problem was also reported earlier by Namjae Jaen (see below):

Windows machine has extended security feature which refuse to allow
authentication when there is time difference between server time and
client time when ntlmv2 negotiation is used. This problem is prevalent
in embedded enviornment where system time is set to default 1970.

Modern servers send the server timestamp in the TargetInfo Av_Pair
structure in the challenge message [see MS-NLMP 2.2.2.1]
In [MS-NLMP 3.1.5.1.2] it is explicitly mentioned that the client must
use the server provided timestamp if present OR current time if it is
not

sec_type as unspecified (and set a flag and the username will be
null) rather than setting sectype as "none" so
cifs_show_security was not properly displaying it in
cifs /proc/mounts entries.

Jann Horn 4c17a6d56b CIFS: fix type confusion in copy offload ioctl
This might lead to local privilege escalation (code execution as
kernel) for systems where the following conditions are met:

 - CONFIG_CIFS_SMB2 and CONFIG_CIFS_POSIX are enabled
 - a cifs filesystem is mounted where:
  - the mount option "vers" was used and set to a value >=2.0
  - the attacker has write access to at least one file on the filesystem

To attack this, an attacker would have to guess the target_tcon
pointer (but guessing wrong doesn't cause a crash, it just returns an
error code) and win a narrow race.

Kees Cook a068acf2ee fs: create and use seq_show_option for escaping
Many file systems that implement the show_options hook fail to correctly
escape their output which could lead to unescaped characters (e.g.  new
lines) leaking into /proc/mounts and /proc/[pid]/mountinfo files.  This
could lead to confusion, spoofed entries (resulting in things like
systemd issuing false d-bus "mount" notifications), and who knows what
else.  This looks like it would only be the root user stepping on
themselves, but it's possible weird things could happen in containers or
in other situations with delegated mount privileges.

Here's an example using overlay with setuid fusermount trusting the
contents of /proc/mounts (via the /etc/mtab symlink).  Imagine the use
of "sudo" is something more sneaky:

This fixes the problem by adding new seq_show_option and
seq_show_option_n helpers, and updating the vulnerable show_option
handlers to use them as needed.  Some, like SELinux, need to be open
coded due to unusual existing escape mechanisms.

Christopher Oo 5fb4e288a0 cifs: Fix use-after-free on mid_q_entry
With CIFS_DEBUG_2 enabled, additional debug information is tracked inside each
mid_q_entry struct, however cifs_save_when_sent may use the mid_q_entry after it
has been freed from the appropriate callback if the transport layer has very low
latency. Holding the srv_mutex fixes this use-after-free, as cifs_save_when_sent
is called while the srv_mutex is held while the request is sent.

Steve French 0de1f4c6f6 Add way to query server fs info for smb3
The server exports information about the share and underlying
device under an SMB3 export, including its attributes and
capabilities, which is stored by cifs.ko when first connecting
to the share.

Add ioctl to cifs.ko to allow user space smb3 helper utilities
(in cifs-utils) to display this (e.g. via smb3util).

This information is also useful for debugging and for
resolving configuration errors.

Sachin Prabhu 1dfd18d057 cifs: Unset CIFS_MOUNT_POSIX_PATHS flag when following dfs mounts
In a dfs setup where the client transitions from a server which supports
posix paths to a server which doesn't support posix paths, the flag
CIFS_MOUNT_POSIX_PATHS is not reset. This leads to the wrong directory
separator being used causing smb commands to fail.

Consider the following case where a dfs share on a samba server points
to a share on windows smb server.
 # mount -t cifs -o .. //vm140-31/dfsroot/testwin/
 # ls -l /mnt; touch /mnt/a
 total 0
 touch: cannot touch ‘/mnt/a’: No such file or directory

Steve French 02b1666544 Add reflink copy over SMB3.11 with new FSCTL_DUPLICATE_EXTENTS
Getting fantastic copy performance with cp --reflink over SMB3.11
 using the new FSCTL_DUPLICATE_EXTENTS.

 This FSCTL was added in the SMB3.11 dialect (testing was
 against REFS file system) so have put it as a 3.11 protocol
 specific operation ("vers=3.1.1" on the mount).  Tested at
 the SMB3 plugfest in Redmond.

 It depends on the new FS Attribute (BLOCK_REFCOUNTING) which
 is used to advertise support for the ability to do this ioctl
 (if you can support multiple files pointing to the same block
 than this refcounting ability or equivalent is needed to
 support the new reflink-like duplicate extent SMB3 ioctl.

Most people think of SMB 3.1.1 as SMB version 3.11 so add synonym
for "vers=3.1.1" of "vers=3.11" on mount.

Also make sure that unlike SMB3.0 and 3.02 we don't send
validate negotiate on mount (it is handled by negotiate contexts) -
add list of SMB3.11 specific functions (distinct from 3.0 dialect).

Federico Sauter 4afe260bab CIFS: Fix race condition on RFC1002_NEGATIVE_SESSION_RESPONSE
This patch fixes a race condition that occurs when connecting
to a NT 3.51 host without specifying a NetBIOS name.
In that case a RFC1002_NEGATIVE_SESSION_RESPONSE is received
and the SMB negotiation is reattempted, but under some conditions
it leads SendReceive() to hang forever while waiting for srv_mutex.
This, in turn, sets the calling process to an uninterruptible sleep
state and makes it unkillable.

The solution is to unlock the srv_mutex acquired in the demux
thread *before* going to sleep (after the reconnect error) and
before reattempting the connection.

Nakajima Akira 7196ac113a Fix to check Unique id and FileType when client refer file directly.
When you refer file directly on cifs client,
 (e.g. ls -li <filename>, cd <dir>, stat <filename>)
 the function return old inode number and filetype from old inode cache,
 though server has different inode number or filetype.

When Server is Windows

  but does not fix bug in different inode number.
Because QUERY_PATH_INFO response by Windows does not include inode number(Index Number) .

Al Viro 680baacbca new ->follow_link() and ->put_link() calling conventions
a) instead of storing the symlink body (via nd_set_link()) and returning
an opaque pointer later passed to ->put_link(), ->follow_link() _stores_
that opaque pointer (into void * passed by address by caller) and returns
the symlink body.  Returning ERR_PTR() on error, NULL on jump (procfs magic
symlinks) and pointer to symlink body for normal symlinks.  Stored pointer
is ignored in all cases except the last one.

Storing NULL for opaque pointer (or not storing it at all) means no call
of ->put_link().

b) the body used to be passed to ->put_link() implicitly (via nameidata).
Now only the opaque pointer is.  In the cases when we used the symlink body
to free stuff, ->follow_link() now should store it as opaque pointer in addition
to returning it.

with a dfs share mounted  being replaced by new dentries for objects
returned by the readdir call. These new dentries on shares mounted with

In the example above, the stat command mounts the dfs share at
cifs/testlink. The subsequent ls on the dfsroot directory replaces the
dentry for testlink with a symlink.

In the earlier code, the d_invalidate command returned an -EBUSY error
when attempting to invalidate directories. This stopped the code from
replacing the directories with symlinks returned by the readdir call.
Changes were recently made to the d_invalidate() command so
that it no longer returns an error code. This results in the directory
with the mounted dfs share being replaced by a symlink which denotes a
dfs share.

David Rientjes 11d8336045 mm, mempool: do not allow atomic resizing
Allocating a large number of elements in atomic context could quickly
deplete memory reserves, so just disallow atomic resizing entirely.

Nothing currently uses mempool_resize() with anything other than
GFP_KERNEL, so convert existing callers to drop the gfp_mask.

Al Viro 3309dd04cb switch generic_write_checks() to iocb and iter
... returning -E... upon error and amount of data left in iter after
(possible) truncation upon success.  Note, that normal case gives
a non-zero (positive) return value, so any tests for != 0 _must_ be
updated.
