Rafael J. Wysocki 77fb4e0a55 ACPI: processor: Export acpi_processor_evaluate_cst()
The intel_idle driver will be modified to use ACPI _CST subsequently
and it will need to call acpi_processor_evaluate_cst(), so move that
function to acpi_processor.c so that it is always present (which is
required by intel_idle) and export it to modules to allow the ACPI
processor driver (which is modular) to call it.

No intentional functional impact.

Ard Biesheuvel d3daf66621 iommu/arm-smmu: Support SMMU module probing from the IORT
Add support for SMMU drivers built as modules to the ACPI/IORT device
probing path, by deferring the probe of the master if the SMMU driver is
known to exist but has not been loaded yet. Given that the IORT code
registers a platform device for each SMMU that it discovers, we can
easily trigger the udev based autoloading of the SMMU drivers by making
the platform device identifier part of the module alias.

Maximilian Luz 6d232b29cf ACPICA: Dispatcher: always generate buffer objects for ASL create_field() operator
ACPICA commit 79a466b64e6af36cc83102f05915e56cb7dd89ab

According to table 19-419 of the ACPI 6.3 specification, buffer_fields
created using the ASL create_field() Operator have been treated as
integers if the buffer_field is small enough to fit inside of an ASL
integer (32-bits or 64-bits depending on the definition block
revision). If they are larger, buffer fields are treated as ASL
Buffer objects. However, this is not true for other AML interpreter
implementations.

It has been discovered that other AML interpreters always treat
buffer fields created by create_field() as a buffer regardless of the
length of the buffer field.

More specifically, the Microsoft AML interpreter always treats buffer
fields created by the create_field() operator as buffer. ACPICA
currently does this only when the field size is larger than the
maximum integer width. This causes problems with AML code shipped in
Microsoft Surface devices.

More details:

The control methods in these devices determine the success of an ASL
control method execution by examining the type resulting from storing
a buffer field created by a create_field() operator. On success, a
Buffer object is expected, on failure an Integer containing an error
code. This buffer object is created with a dynamic size via the
create_field() operator. Due to the difference in behavior, Buffer
values of small size are however converted to Integers and thus
interpreted by the control method as having failed, whereas in
reality it succeeded. Below is an example of a control method called
TEST that illustrates this behavior.

This change prohibits the previously mentioned integer conversion to
match other AML interpreter implementations (Microsoft) that do not

Erik Kaneda 5ddbd77181 ACPICA: Disassembler: create buffer fields in ACPI_PARSE_LOAD_PASS1
ACPICA commit 29cc8dbc5463a93625bed87d7550a8bed8913bf4

create_buffer_field is a deferred op that is typically processed in
load pass 2. However, disassembly of control method contents walk the
parse tree with ACPI_PARSE_LOAD_PASS1 and AML_CREATE operators are
processed in a later walk. This is a problem when there is a control
method that has the same name as the AML_CREATE object. In this case,
any use of the name segment will be detected as a method call rather
than a reference to a buffer field. If this is detected as a method
call, it can result in a mal-formed parse tree if the control methods
have parameters.

This change in processing AML_CREATE ops earlier solves this issue by
inserting the named object in the ACPI namespace so that references
to this name would be detected as a name string rather than a method
call.

Hans de Goede d21a91629f ACPI: video: Do not export a non working backlight interface on MSI MS-7721 boards
Despite our heuristics to not wrongly export a non working ACPI backlight
interface on desktop machines, we still end up exporting one on desktops
using a motherboard from the MSI MS-7721 series.

I've looked at improving the heuristics, but in this case a quirk seems
to be the only way to solve this.

While at it also add a comment to separate the video_detect_force_none
entries in the video_detect_dmi_table from other type of entries, as we
already do for the other entry types.

Srinivas Pandruvada d19e470b66 ACPI: fan: Expose fan performance state information
When _FPS indicates variable speed fan support, the thermal cooling
device for fan shows max performance state count as "max_state"
(greater than or equal to 1).

But the thermal cooling device doesn't expose the properties of each
performance state. This is not enough for smart fan control user
space software, which also considers speed, power and noise level.

This change exposes the properties of the fan performance states
in the sysfs directory of the ACPI device representing the fan,
that is

/sys/bus/acpi/devices/devices/INT3404:00

or

/sys/bus/platform/devices/PNP0C0B:00.

For example:

Hans de Goede b2147a3a4f ACPI / LPSS: Rename pwm_backlight pwm-lookup to pwm_soc_backlight
At least Bay Trail (BYT) and Cherry Trail (CHT) devices can use 1 of 2
different PWM controllers for controlling the LCD's backlight brightness.
Either the one integrated into the PMIC or the one integrated into the
SoC (the 1st LPSS PWM controller).

So far in the LPSS code on BYT we have skipped registering the LPSS PWM
controller "pwm_backlight" lookup entry when a Crystal Cove PMIC is
present, assuming that in this case the PMIC PWM controller will be used.

On CHT we have been relying on only 1 of the 2 PWM controllers being
enabled in the DSDT at the same time; and always registered the lookup.

So far this has been working, but the correct way to determine which PWM
controller needs to be used is by checking a bit in the VBT table and
recently I've learned about 2 different BYT devices:
Point of View MOBII TAB-P800W
Acer Switch 10 SW5-012

Which use a Crystal Cove PMIC, yet the LCD is connected to the SoC/LPSS
PWM controller (and the VBT correctly indicates this), so here our old
heuristics fail.

Since only the i915 driver has access to the VBT, this commit renames
the "pwm_backlight" lookup entries for the 1st BYT/CHT LPSS PWM controller
to "pwm_soc_backlight" so that the i915 driver can do a pwm_get() for
the right controller depending on the VBT bit, instead of the i915 driver
relying on a "pwm_backlight" lookup getting registered which magically
points to the right controller.

Hans de Goede ff3154d1d8 ACPI / battery: Deal better with neither design nor full capacity not being reported
Commit b41901a2cf ("ACPI / battery: Do not export energy_full[_design] on
devices without full_charge_capacity") added support for some (broken)
devices which always report 0 for both design_capacity and
full_charge_capacity.

Since the device that commit was written as a fix for is not reporting any
form of "full" capacity we cannot calculate the value for the
POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_CAPACITY, this is worked around by using an alternative
array of available properties which does not contain this property.

This is necessary because userspace (upower) treats us returning -ENODEV
as 0 and then typically will trigger an emergency shutdown because of that.
Userspace does not do this if the capacity sysfs attribute is not present
at all.

There are two potential problems with that commit:
 1) It assumes that both full_charge- and design-capacity are broken at the
    same time and only checks if full_charge- is broken.
 2) It assumes that this only ever happens for devices which report energy
    units rather then charge units.

This commit fixes both issues by only using the alternative
array of available properties if both full_charge- and design-capacity are
broken and by also adding an alternative array of available properties for
devices using mA units.

Hans de Goede 5b74d1d16e ACPI / battery: Use design-cap for capacity calculations if full-cap is not available
The ThunderSoft TS178 tablet's _BIX implementation reports design_capacity
but not full_charge_capacity.

Before this commit this would cause us to return -ENODEV for the capacity
attribute, which userspace does not like. Specifically upower does this:

                percentage = sysfs_get_double (native_path, "capacity");

Where the sysfs_get_double() helper returns 0 when we return -ENODEV,
so the battery always reads 0% if we return -ENODEV.

This commit fixes this by using the design-capacity instead of the
full-charge-capacity when the full-charge-capacity is not available.

Hans de Goede cc99f0ad52 ACPI / battery: Deal with design or full capacity being reported as -1
Commit b41901a2cf ("ACPI / battery: Do not export energy_full[_design]
on devices without full_charge_capacity") added support for some (broken)
devices which always report 0 for both design- and full_charge-capacity.

This assumes that if the capacity is not being reported it is 0. The
ThunderSoft TS178 tablet's _BIX implementation falsifies this assumption.
It reports ACPI_BATTERY_VALUE_UNKNOWN (-1) as full_charge_capacity, which
we treat as a valid value which causes several problems.

This commit fixes this by adding a new ACPI_BATTERY_CAPACITY_VALID() helper
which checks that the value is not 0 and not -1; and using this whenever we
need to test if either design_capacity or full_charge_capacity is valid.

Convert acpi_wakeup_address from a raw variable into a function so that
x86 can wrap its dereference of the real mode boot header in a function
instead of broadcasting it to the world via a #define.  This sets the
stage for a future patch to move x86's definition of the new function,
acpi_get_wakeup_address(), out of asm/acpi.h and thus break acpi.h's
dependency on asm/realmode.h.

No functional change intended.

Rafael J. Wysocki b9ea0bae26 ACPI: PM: Avoid attaching ACPI PM domain to certain devices
Certain ACPI-enumerated devices represented as platform devices in
Linux, like fans, require special low-level power management handling
implemented by their drivers that is not in agreement with the ACPI
PM domain behavior.  That leads to problems with managing ACPI fans
during system-wide suspend and resume.

For this reason, make acpi_dev_pm_attach() skip the affected devices
by adding a list of device IDs to avoid to it and putting the IDs of
the affected devices into that list.

Note that the EC GPE processing need not be synchronized in
acpi_s2idle_wake() after invoking acpi_ec_dispatch_gpe(), because
that function checks the GPE status and dispatches its handler if
need be and the SCI action handler is not going to run anyway at
that point.

Moreover, it is better to drain all of the pending ACPI events
before restoring the working-state configuration of GPEs in
acpi_s2idle_restore(), because those events are likely to be related
to system wakeup, in which case they will not be relevant going
forward.

Rework the code to take these observations into account.

Rafael J. Wysocki 016b87ca5c ACPI: EC: Rework flushing of pending work
There is a race condition in the ACPI EC driver, between
__acpi_ec_flush_event() and acpi_ec_event_handler(), that may
cause systems to stay in suspended-to-idle forever after a wakeup
event coming from the EC.

Namely, acpi_s2idle_wake() calls acpi_ec_flush_work() to wait until
the delayed work resulting from the handling of the EC GPE in
acpi_ec_dispatch_gpe() is processed, and that function invokes
__acpi_ec_flush_event() which uses wait_event() to wait for
ec->nr_pending_queries to become zero on ec->wait, and that wait
queue may be woken up too early.

Suppose that acpi_ec_dispatch_gpe() has caused acpi_ec_gpe_handler()
to run, so advance_transaction() has been called and it has invoked
acpi_ec_submit_query() to queue up an event work item, so
ec->nr_pending_queries has been incremented (under ec->lock).  The
work function of that work item, acpi_ec_event_handler() runs later
and calls acpi_ec_query() to process the event.  That function calls
acpi_ec_transaction() which invokes acpi_ec_transaction_unlocked()
and the latter wakes up ec->wait under ec->lock, but it drops that
lock before returning.

When acpi_ec_query() returns, acpi_ec_event_handler() acquires
ec->lock and decrements ec->nr_pending_queries, but at that point
__acpi_ec_flush_event() (woken up previously) may already have
acquired ec->lock, checked the value of ec->nr_pending_queries (and
it would not have been zero then) and decided to go back to sleep.
Next, if ec->nr_pending_queries is equal to zero now, the loop
in acpi_ec_event_handler() terminates, ec->lock is released and
acpi_ec_check_event() is called, but it does nothing unless
ec_event_clearing is equal to ACPI_EC_EVT_TIMING_EVENT (which is
not the case by default).  In the end, if no more event work items
have been queued up while executing acpi_ec_transaction_unlocked(),
there is nothing to wake up __acpi_ec_flush_event() again and it
sleeps forever, so the suspend-to-idle loop cannot make progress and
the system is permanently suspended.

To avoid this issue, notice that it actually is not necessary to
wait for ec->nr_pending_queries to become zero in every case in
which __acpi_ec_flush_event() is used.

First, during platform-based system suspend (not suspend-to-idle),
__acpi_ec_flush_event() is called by acpi_ec_disable_event() after
clearing the EC_FLAGS_QUERY_ENABLED flag, which prevents
acpi_ec_submit_query() from submitting any new event work items,
so calling flush_scheduled_work() and flushing ec_query_wq
subsequently (in order to wait until all of the queries in that
queue have been processed) would be sufficient to flush all of
the pending EC work in that case.

Second, the purpose of the flushing of pending EC work while
suspended-to-idle described above really is to wait until the
first event work item coming from acpi_ec_dispatch_gpe() is
complete, because it should produce system wakeup events if
that is a valid EC-based system wakeup, so calling
flush_scheduled_work() followed by flushing ec_query_wq is also
sufficient for that purpose.

Rework the code to follow the above observations.

In i2c_acpi_remove_space_handler(), a leak occurs whenever the
"data" parameter is initialized to 0 before being passed to
acpi_bus_get_private_data().

This is because the NULL pointer check in acpi_bus_get_private_data()
(condition->if(!*data)) returns EINVAL and, in consequence, memory is
never freed in i2c_acpi_remove_space_handler().

Fix the NULL pointer check in acpi_bus_get_private_data() to follow
the analogous check in acpi_get_data_full().

in the map being freed more than once.

The Acer Switch 10 SW5-032 _LID method is quite broken, it looks like this:

The problem here is the accesses to the PBCG and HMCG, these are the
pinconf0 registers for the power, resp. the home button GPIO,
e.g. PBCG is declared as:

Where 0xFED0E000 is the base address of the GPO2 device and 0x80 is
the offset for the pin used for the powerbutton.

The problem here is this line in _LID:
                    PBCG |= 0x05000000

This changes the trigger flags of the GPIO, changing when it generates
interrupts. Note it does not clear the original flags. Linux uses an
edge triggered interrupt on both positive and negative edges. This |=
adds the BYT_TRIG_LVL flag to this, so now it is turned into a level
interrupt which fires both when low and high, iow it simply always
fires leading to an interrupt storm, the tablet immediately waking up
from suspend again, etc.

There is nothing we can do to fix this, except for a DSDT override,
which the user needs to do manually. The only thing we can do is
never call _LID, which requires disabling the lid-switch functionality
altogether.

This commit adds a quirk for this, as no lid-switch function is better
then the interrupt storm. A user manually applying a DSDT override can
also override the quirk on the kernel cmdline.

Nicolas Saenz Julienne a7ba70f178 dma-mapping: treat dev->bus_dma_mask as a DMA limit
Using a mask to represent bus DMA constraints has a set of limitations.
The biggest one being it can only hold a power of two (minus one). The
DMA mapping code is already aware of this and treats dev->bus_dma_mask
as a limit. This quirk is already used by some architectures although
still rare.

With the introduction of the Raspberry Pi 4 we've found a new contender
for the use of bus DMA limits, as its PCIe bus can only address the
lower 3GB of memory (of a total of 4GB). This is impossible to represent
with a mask. To make things worse the device-tree code rounds non power
of two bus DMA limits to the next power of two, which is unacceptable in
this case.

In the light of this, rename dev->bus_dma_mask to dev->bus_dma_limit all
over the tree and treat it as such. Note that dev->bus_dma_limit should
contain the higher accessible DMA address.

Yunfeng Ye a7583e72a5 ACPI: sysfs: Change ACPI_MASKABLE_GPE_MAX to 0x100
The commit 0f27cff859 ("ACPI: sysfs: Make ACPI GPE mask kernel
parameter cover all GPEs") says:
  "Use a bitmap of size 0xFF instead of a u64 for the GPE mask so 256
   GPEs can be masked"

But the masking of GPE 0xFF it not supported and the check condition
"gpe > ACPI_MASKABLE_GPE_MAX" is not valid because the type of gpe is
u8.

So modify the macro ACPI_MASKABLE_GPE_MAX to 0x100, and drop the "gpe >
ACPI_MASKABLE_GPE_MAX" check. In addition, update the docs "Format" for
acpi_mask_gpe parameter.

Since hmat_register_target() is also called from hmat_callback(), and
then register_hotmemory_notifier(), where it should not be freed when
hmat_init() is done, it indicates that the __init annotation of
hmat_register_target_devices() is incorrect.

Brice Goglin 4caa525b78 ACPI: HMAT: don't mix pxm and nid when setting memory target processor_pxm
On systems where PXMs and nids are in different order, memory initiators
exposed in sysfs could be wrong: On dual-socket CLX with SNC enabled
(4 nodes, 1 and 2 swapped between PXMs and nids), node1 would only
get node2 as initiator, and node2 would only get node1.

With this patch, we get node1 as the only initiator of itself,
and node2 as the only initiator of itself, as expected.

This should likely go to stable up to 5.2.

Dan Williams cf8741ac57 ACPI: NUMA: HMAT: Register "soft reserved" memory as an "hmem" device
Memory that has been tagged EFI_MEMORY_SP, and has performance
properties described by the ACPI HMAT is expected to have an application
specific consumer.

Those consumers may want 100% of the memory capacity to be reserved from
any usage by the kernel. By default, with this enabling, a platform
device is created to represent this differentiated resource.

The device-dax "hmem" driver claims these devices by default and
provides an mmap interface for the target application.  If the
administrator prefers, the hmem resource range can be made available to
the core-mm via the device-dax hotplug facility, kmem, to online the
memory with its own numa node.

This was tested with an emulated HMAT produced by qemu (with the pending
HMAT enabling patches), and "efi_fake_mem=8G@9G:0x40000" on the kernel
command line to mark the memory ranges associated with node2 and node3
as EFI_MEMORY_SP.

the description of the file. The initial motivation for giving hmat.c
its own directory was to delineate it as mm functionality in contrast to

As ACPI continues to play an increasing role in conveying
memory location and performance topology information to the OS take the
opportunity to co-locate these NUMA relevant tables in a combined
directory.

numa.c is renamed to srat.c and moved to drivers/acpi/numa/ along with
hmat.c.

Daniel Drake 406857f773 ACPI: EC: add support for hardware-reduced systems
As defined in the ACPI spec section 12.11, ACPI hardware-reduced
platforms define the EC SCI interrupt as a GpioInt in the _CRS object.

This replaces the previous way of using a GPE for this interrupt;
GPE blocks are not available on reduced hardware platforms.

Add support for handling this interrupt as an EC event source, and
avoid GPE usage on reduced hardware platforms.

This enables the use of several media keys (e.g. screen brightness
up/down) on Asus UX434DA.

Hans de Goede 00e250367c ACPI: button: Add DMI quirk for Asus T200TA
The Asus T200TA lid has some weird behavior where _LID keeps reporting
closed after every second openening of the lid. Causing immediate
re-suspend after opening every other open.

I've looked at the AML code but it involves talking to the EC and we
have no idea what the EC is doing. Setting lid_init_state to
ACPI_BUTTON_LID_INIT_OPEN fixes the unwanted behavior, so this commit
adds a DMI based quirk to use ACPI_BUTTON_LID_INIT_OPEN on the T200TA.

Hans de Goede 932e1ba486 ACPI: button: Add DMI quirk for Medion Akoya E2215T
The Medion Akoya E2215T's ACPI _LID implementation is quite broken:

 1. For notifications it uses an ActiveLow Edge GpioInt, rather then
    an ActiveBoth one, meaning that the device is only notified when the
    lid is closed, not when it is opened.

2. Matching with this its _LID method simply always returns 0 (closed)

  In order for the Linux LID code to work properly with this implementation,
  the lid_init_state selection needs to be set to ACPI_BUTTON_LID_INIT_OPEN.

This commit adds a DMI quirk for this.

Hans de Goede d7cd08231a ACPI: button: Turn lid_blacklst DMI table into a generic quirk table
Commit 3540c32a9a ("ACPI / button: Add quirks for initial lid state
notification") added 3 different modes to the LID handling code to deal
with various buggy implementations.

Until now users which need one of the 2 non-default modes to get their
HW to work have to pass a kernel commandline option for this.

E.g. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106151 was closed with a
note that the user has to add "button.lid_init_state=open" to the kernel
commandline to get the LID code to not cause undesirable suspends on his
Samsung N210 Plus.

This commit modifies the existing lid_blacklst DMI table so that it can
be used not only to completely disable the LID code on devices where
the ACPI tables are broken beyond repair, but also to select one of the 2
non default LID handling modes on devices where this is necessary.

This will allow us to add quirks to make the LID work OOTB on broken
devices. Getting this working OOTB is esp. important because the typical
breakage is false LID closed reporting, causing undesirable suspends which
basically make the system unusable.

Hans de Goede 593681e2c7 ACPI: button: Allow disabling LID support with the lid_init_state module option
Add a new "disabled" value for the lid_init_state module option, which can
be used to disable LID support on devices where it is completely broken.

Sometimes devices seem to spontaneously suspend and the cause for this is
not clear. The LID switch is known to be one possible cause for this,
this commit allows easily disabling the LID switch for testing if it
is the cause.

For example some devices which do not even have a lid, still have a LID
device in their ACPI tables, pointing to a floating GPIO.

This is not really related to the initial LID state, but re-using the
existing option keeps things simple and it will make it much easier to
add DMI quirks which can either disable the LID completely or set another
non-default lid_init_state value, both of which are necessary on some
devices.

in the T100TA/T100CHI this dependency is not listed in the _DEP of the GFX0
device.

This results in the dev_WARN_ONCE(..., "Transfer while suspended\n") call
in i2c-designware-master.c triggering and the AML code not working as it
should.

This commit fixes this by adding a dmi based quirk mechanism for devices
which miss a _DEP, and adding a quirk for the LNXVIDEO depending on the
I2C1 device on the Asus T200TA.

regular BYT platforms I2C7 is used and we were not adding the device_link
sometimes causing resume ordering issues.

This commit adds LNXVIDEO -> BYT I2C7 to the lpss_device_links table,
fixing this.

Hans de Goede cefe6aac29 ACPI / PMIC: Add Cherry Trail Crystal Cove PMIC OpRegion driver
We have no docs for the CHT Crystal Cove PMIC. The Asus Zenfone-2 kernel
code has 2 Crystal Cove regulator drivers, one calls the PMIC a "Crystal
Cove Plus" PMIC and talks about Cherry Trail, so presuambly that one
could be used to get register info for the regulators if we need to
implement regulator support in the future.

For now the sole purpose of this driver is to make
intel_soc_pmic_exec_mipi_pmic_seq_element work on devices with a
CHT Crystal Cove PMIC.

Specifically this fixes the following MIPI PMIC sequence related errors
on e.g. an Asus T100HA:

Hans de Goede ed852cde25 ACPI / PMIC: Add byt prefix to Crystal Cove PMIC OpRegion driver
Our current Crystal Cove OpRegion driver is only valid for the
Crystal Cove PMIC variant found on Bay Trail (BYT) boards,
Cherry Trail (CHT) based boards use another variant.

At least the regulator registers are different on CHT and these registers
are one of the things controlled by the custom PMIC OpRegion.

Commit 4d9ed62ab1 ("mfd: intel_soc_pmic: Export separate mfd-cell
configs for BYT and CHT") has disabled the intel_pmic_crc.c code for CHT
devices by removing the "crystal_cove_pmic" MFD cell on CHT devices.

This commit renames the intel_pmic_crc.c driver and the cell to be
prefixed with "byt" to indicate that this code is for BYT devices only.

This is a preparation patch for adding a separate PMIC OpRegion
driver for the CHT variant of the Crystal Cove PMIC (sometimes called
Crystal Cove Plus in Android kernel sources).

handle the power or thermal opregions because we have no documentation.

For example in the intel_pmic_chtwc.c driver thermal_table_count is 0,

with AE_BAD_PARAMETER, in this case it is better to simply not register
the handler at all.

The _PPC change notifications from the platform firmware are per-CPU,
so acpi_processor_ppc_init() needs to add a frequency QoS request
for each CPU covered by a cpufreq policy to take all of them into
account.

Even though ACPI thermal control of CPUs sets frequency limits
per processor package, it also needs a frequency QoS request for each
CPU in a cpufreq policy in case some of them are taken offline and
the frequency limit needs to be set through the remaining online
ones (this is slightly excessive, because all CPUs covered by one
cpufreq policy will set the same frequency limit through their QoS
requests, but it is not incorrect).

Modify the code in accordance with the above observations.

In function acpi_idle_do_entry(), an ioport access is used for
dummy wait to guarantee hardware behavior. But it could trigger
unnecessary VMexit if kernel is running as guest in virtualization
environment.

If it's in virtualization environment, the deeper C state enter
operation (inb()) will trap to hypervisor. It's not needed to do
dummy wait after the inb() call. So we could just remove the
dummy io port access to avoid unnecessary VMexit.

And keep dummy io port access to maintain timing for native
environment.

Rafael J. Wysocki 3000ce3c52 cpufreq: Use per-policy frequency QoS
Replace the CPU device PM QoS used for the management of min and max
frequency constraints in cpufreq (and its users) with per-policy
frequency QoS to avoid problems with cpufreq policies covering
more then one CPU.

Namely, a cpufreq driver is registered with the subsys interface
which calls cpufreq_add_dev() for each CPU, starting from CPU0, so
currently the PM QoS notifiers are added to the first CPU in the
policy (i.e. CPU0 in the majority of cases).

In turn, when the cpufreq driver is unregistered, the subsys interface
doing that calls cpufreq_remove_dev() for each CPU, starting from CPU0,
and the PM QoS notifiers are only removed when cpufreq_remove_dev() is
called for the last CPU in the policy, say CPUx, which as a rule is
not CPU0 if the policy covers more than one CPU.  Then, the PM QoS
notifiers cannot be removed, because CPUx does not have them, and
they are still there in the device PM QoS notifiers list of CPU0,
which prevents new PM QoS notifiers from being registered for CPU0
on the next attempt to register the cpufreq driver.

The same issue occurs when the first CPU in the policy goes offline
before unregistering the driver.

After this change it does not matter which CPU is the policy CPU at
the driver registration time and whether or not it is online all the
time, because the frequency QoS is per policy and not per CPU.

Andy Shevchenko cb0701acfa ACPI: platform: Unregister stale platform devices
When commit 68bdb67732 ("ACPI: add support for ACPI reconfiguration
notifiers") introduced reconfiguration notifiers, it missed the point
that the ACPI table, which might be loaded and then unloaded via
ConfigFS, could contain devices that were not enumerated by their
parents.

In such cases, the stale platform device is dangling in the system
while the rest of the devices from the same table are already gone.

Introduce acpi_platform_device_remove_notify() notifier that, in
similar way to I²C or SPI buses, unregisters the platform devices
on table removal event.

Rafael J. Wysocki 2d8b39a62a ACPI: processor: Avoid NULL pointer dereferences at init time
If there are neither processor objects nor processor device objects
in the ACPI tables, the per-CPU processors table will not be
initialized and attempting to dereference pointers from there will
cause the kernel to crash.  This happens in acpi_processor_ppc_init()
and acpi_thermal_cpufreq_init() after commit d15ce41273 ("ACPI:
cpufreq: Switch to QoS requests instead of cpufreq notifier")
which didn't add the requisite NULL pointer checks in there.

Add the NULL pointer checks to acpi_processor_ppc_init() and
acpi_thermal_cpufreq_init(), and to the corresponding "exit"
routines.

While at it, drop redundant return instructions from
acpi_processor_ppc_init() and acpi_thermal_cpufreq_init().

Arjan van de Ven ac36d37e94 ACPI: Always build evged in
Although the Generic Event Device is a Hardware-reduced
platfom device in principle, it should not be restricted to
ACPI_REDUCED_HARDWARE_ONLY.

Kernels supporting both fixed and hardware-reduced ACPI platforms
should be able to probe the GED when dynamically detecting that a
platform is hardware-reduced. For that, the driver must be
unconditionally built in.

Mario Limonciello 2189624b3c ACPI: PM: Drop Dell XPS13 9360 from LPS0 Idle _DSM blacklist
This reverts part of commit 71630b7a83 ("ACPI / PM: Blacklist Low
Power S0 Idle _DSM for Dell XPS13 9360") to remove the S0ix blacklist
for the XPS 9360.

The problems with this system occurred in one possible NVME SSD when
putting system into s0ix.  As the NVME sleep behavior has been adjusted
in commit d916b1be94 ("nvme-pci: use host managed power state for
suspend") this is expected to be now resolved.

ACPI-6.3 corresponds to when HMAT revision was bumped
from 1 to 2. In this version ACPI_HMAT_MEMORY_PD_VALID
was deprecated and made reserved.

As such in revision 2+ we shouldn't be testing this flag.

This is as per ACPI-6.3, 5.2.27.3, Table 5-145

Dan Williams d78c620a2e libnvdimm/security: Introduce a 'frozen' attribute
In the process of debugging a system with an NVDIMM that was failing to
unlock it was found that the kernel is reporting 'locked' while the DIMM
security interface is 'frozen'. Unfortunately the security state is
tracked internally as an enum which prevents it from communicating the
difference between 'locked' and 'locked + frozen'. It follows that the
enum also prevents the kernel from communicating 'unlocked + frozen'
which would be useful for debugging why security operations like 'change
passphrase' are disabled.

Ditch the security state enum for a set of flags and introduce a new
sysfs attribute explicitly for the 'frozen' state. The regression risk
is low because the 'frozen' state was already blocked behind the
'locked' state, but will need to revisit if there were cases where
applications need 'frozen' to show up in the primary 'security'
attribute. The expectation is that communicating 'frozen' is mostly a
helper for debug and status monitoring.

Al Stone 4c4cdc4c63 ACPI / CPPC: do not require the _PSD method
According to the ACPI 6.3 specification, the _PSD method is optional
when using CPPC.  The underlying assumption is that each CPU can change
frequency independently from all other CPUs; _PSD is provided to tell
the OS that some processors can NOT do that.

However, the acpi_get_psd() function returns ENODEV if there is no _PSD
method present, or an ACPI error status if an error occurs when evaluating
_PSD, if present.  This makes _PSD mandatory when using CPPC, in violation
of the specification, and only on Linux.

This has forced some firmware writers to provide a dummy _PSD, even though
it is irrelevant, but only because Linux requires it; other OSPMs follow
the spec.  We really do not want to have OS specific ACPI tables, though.

So, correct acpi_get_psd() so that it does not return an error if there
is no _PSD method present, but does return a failure when the method can
not be executed properly.  This allows _PSD to be optional as it should
be.

Jarkko Nikula 57b3006492 ACPI / LPSS: Save/restore LPSS private registers also on Lynxpoint
My assumption in commit b53548f9d9 ("spi: pxa2xx: Remove LPSS private
register restoring during resume") that Intel Lynxpoint and compatible
based chipsets may not need LPSS private registers saving and restoring
over suspend/resume cycle turned out to be false on Intel Broadwell.

Curtis Malainey sent a patch bringing above change back and reported the
LPSS SPI Chip Select control was lost over suspend/resume cycle on
Broadwell machine.

Instead of reverting above commit lets add LPSS private register
saving/restoring also for all LPSS SPI, I2C and UART controllers on
Lynxpoint and compatible chipset to make sure context is not lost in
case nothing else preserves it like firmware or if LPSS is always on.

Rafael J. Wysocki b90ff3554a ACPI: PM: s2idle: Always set up EC GPE for system wakeup
Commit 10a08fd65e ("ACPI: PM: Set up EC GPE for system wakeup from
drivers that need it") assumed that the EC GPE would only need to be
set up for system wakeup if either the intel-hid or the intel-vbtn
driver was in use, but that turns out to be incorrect.  In particular,
on ASUS Zenbook UX430UNR/i7-8550U, if the EC GPE is not enabled while
suspended, the system cannot be woken up by opening the lid or
pressing a key, and that machine doesn't use any of the drivers
mentioned above.

For this reason, always set up the EC GPE for system wakeup from
suspend-to-idle by setting and clearing its wake mask in the ACPI
suspend-to-idle callbacks.

Linn Crosetto 6ea0e815fc acpi: Disable ACPI table override if the kernel is locked down
>From the kernel documentation (initrd_table_override.txt):

  If the ACPI_INITRD_TABLE_OVERRIDE compile option is true, it is possible
  to override nearly any ACPI table provided by the BIOS with an
  instrumented, modified one.

When lockdown is enabled, the kernel should disallow any unauthenticated
changes to kernel space.  ACPI tables contain code invoked by the kernel,
so do not allow ACPI tables to be overridden if the kernel is locked down.

Josh Boyer 41fa1ee9c6 acpi: Ignore acpi_rsdp kernel param when the kernel has been locked down
This option allows userspace to pass the RSDP address to the kernel, which
makes it possible for a user to modify the workings of hardware. Reject
the option when the kernel is locked down. This requires some reworking
of the existing RSDP command line logic, since the early boot code also
makes use of a command-line passed RSDP when locating the SRAT table
before the lockdown code has been initialised. This is achieved by
separating the command line RSDP path in the early boot code from the
generic RSDP path, and then copying the command line RSDP into boot
params in the kernel proper if lockdown is not enabled. If lockdown is
enabled and an RSDP is provided on the command line, this will only be
used when parsing SRAT (which shouldn't permit kernel code execution)
and will be ignored in the rest of the kernel.
