If the MSG_ZEROCOPY flag is specified with rds_sendmsg(), and,
if the SO_ZEROCOPY socket option has been set on the PF_RDS socket,
application pages sent down with rds_sendmsg() are pinned.
The pinning uses the accounting infrastructure added by
Commit a91dbff551 ("sock: ulimit on MSG_ZEROCOPY pages")
The payload bytes in the message may not be modified for the
duration that the message has been pinned. A multi-threaded
application using this infrastructure may thus need to be notified
about send-completion so that it can free/reuse the buffers
passed to rds_sendmsg(). Notification of send-completion will
identify each message-buffer by a cookie that the application
must specify as ancillary data to rds_sendmsg().
The ancillary data in this case has cmsg_level == SOL_RDS
and cmsg_type == RDS_CMSG_ZCOPY_COOKIE.

RDS removes a datagram (rds_message) from the retransmit queue when
an ACK is received. The ACK indicates that the receiver has queued
the RDS datagram, so that the sender can safely forget the datagram.
When all references to the rds_message are quiesced, rds_message_purge
is called to release resources used by the rds_message
If the datagram to be removed had pinned pages set up, add
an entry to the rs->rs_znotify_queue so that the notifcation
will be sent up via rds_rm_zerocopy_callback() when the
rds_message is eventually freed by rds_message_purge.
rds_rm_zerocopy_callback() attempts to batch the number of cookies
sent with each notification to a max of SO_EE_ORIGIN_MAX_ZCOOKIES.
This is achieved by checking the tail skb in the sk_error_queue:
if this has room for one more cookie, the cookie from the
current notification is added; else a new skb is added to the
sk_error_queue. Every invocation of rds_rm_zerocopy_callback() will
trigger a ->sk_error_report to notify the application.

The existing model holds a reference from the rds_sock to the
rds_message, but the rds_message does not itself hold a sock_put()
on the rds_sock. Instead the m_rs field in the rds_message is
assigned when the message is queued on the sock, and nulled when
the message is dequeued from the sock.
We want to be able to notify userspace when the rds_message
is actually freed (from rds_message_purge(), after the refcounts
to the rds_message go to 0). At the time that rds_message_purge()
is called, the message is no longer on the rds_sock retransmit
queue. Thus the explicit reference for the m_rs is needed to
send a notification that will signal to userspace that
it is now safe to free/reuse any pages that may have
been pinned down for zerocopy.
This patch manages the m_rs assignment in the rds_message with
the necessary refcount book-keeping.

Commit ebeeb1ad9b ("rds: tcp: use rds_destroy_pending() to synchronize
netns/module teardown and rds connection/workq management")
adds an rcu read critical section to __rd_conn_create. The
memory allocations in that critcal section need to use
GFP_ATOMIC to avoid sleeping.
This patch was verified with syzkaller reproducer.

All these functions either return a negative error indicator,
or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.
"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.
None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.
This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.
Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.
rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.
Userspace API is not changed.

should be all done.

Such an rds_connection would miss out the rds_conn_destroy()
loop (that cancels all pending work) and (if it was scheduled
after netns deletion) could trigger the use-after-free.
A similar race-window exists for the module unload path
in rds_tcp_exit -> rds_tcp_destroy_conns
Concurrency with netns deletion (rds_tcp_kill_sock()) must be handled
by checking check_net() before enqueuing new work or adding new
connections.
Concurrency with module-unload is handled by maintaining a module
specific flag that is set at the start of the module exit function,
and must be checked before enqueuing new work or adding new connections.
This commit refactors existing RDS_DESTROY_PENDING checks added by
commit 3db6e0d172 ("rds: use RCU to synchronize work-enqueue with
connection teardown") and consolidates all the concurrency checks
listed above into the function rds_destroy_pending().

Pull poll annotations from Al Viro:
"This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local
variables used to hold the future return value'.
Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
in this series - it's large enough as it is.
Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
arch-independent, but POLL### are not.
The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
work on all architectures.
As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all

en_rx_am.c was deleted in 'net-next' but had a bug fixed in it in
'net'.

rds-tcp uses m_ack_seq to track the tcp ack# that indicates
that the peer has received a rds_message. The m_ack_seq is
used in rds_tcp_is_acked() to figure out when it is safe to
drop the rds_message from the RDS retransmit queue.
The m_ack_seq must be calculated as an offset from the right
edge of the in-flight tcp buffer, i.e., it should be based on
the ->write_seq, not the ->snd_nxt.

Use the newly introduced rdma_read_gids() to read the SGID and DGID for
the connection which returns GID correctly for RoCE transport as well.
rdma_addr_get_dgid() for RoCE for client side connections returns MAC
address, instead of DGID.
rdma_addr_get_sgid() for RoCE doesn't return correct SGID for IPv6 and
when more than one IP address is assigned to the netdevice.
Therefore use transport agnostic rdma_read_gids() API provided by rdma_cm
module.

rds_sendmsg() can enqueue work on cp_send_w from process context, but
it should not enqueue this work if connection teardown has commenced
(else we risk enquing work after rds_conn_path_destroy() has assumed that
all work has been cancelled/flushed).
Similarly some other functions like rds_cong_queue_updates
and rds_tcp_data_ready are called in softirq context, and may end
up enqueuing work on rds_wq after rds_conn_path_destroy() has assumed
that all workqs are quiesced.
Check the RDS_DESTROY_PENDING bit and use rcu synchronization to avoid
all these races.

When args->nr_local is 0, nr_pages gets also 0 due some size
calculation via rds_rm_size(), which is later used to allocate
pages for DMA, this bug produces a heap Out-Of-Bound write access

include/trace/events/tcp.h is a little bit more tricky. The removal
of in-trace-macro ifdefs in 'net' paralleled with moving
show_tcp_state_name and friends over to include/trace/events/sock.h
in 'net-next'.

If the rds_sock is not added to the bind_hash_table, we must
reset rs_bound_addr so that rds_remove_bound will not trip on
this rds_sock.
rds_add_bound() does a rds_sock_put() in this failure path, so
failing to reset rs_bound_addr will result in a socket refcount
bug, and will trigger a WARN_ON with the stack shown below when
the application subsequently tries to close the PF_RDS socket.

The rds_tcp_kill_sock() function parses the rds_tcp_conn_list
to find the rds_connection entries marked for deletion as part
of the netns deletion under the protection of the rds_tcp_conn_lock.
Since the rds_tcp_conn_list tracks rds_tcp_connections (which
have a 1:1 mapping with rds_conn_path), multiple tc entries in
the rds_tcp_conn_list will map to a single rds_connection, and will
be deleted as part of the rds_conn_destroy() operation that is
done outside the rds_tcp_conn_lock.
The rds_tcp_conn_list traversal done under the protection of
rds_tcp_conn_lock should not leave any doomed tc entries in
the list after the rds_tcp_conn_lock is released, else another
concurrently executiong netns delete (for a differnt netns) thread
may trip on these entries.

Commit 8edc3affc0 ("rds: tcp: Take explicit refcounts on struct net")
introduces a regression in rds-tcp netns cleanup. The cleanup_net(),
(and thus rds_tcp_dev_event notification) is only called from put_net()
when all netns refcounts go to 0, but this cannot happen if the
rds_connection itself is holding a c_net ref that it expects to
release in rds_tcp_kill_sock.
Instead, the rds_tcp_kill_sock callback should make sure to
tear down state carefully, ensuring that the socket teardown
is only done after all data-structures and workqs that depend
on it are quiesced.
The original motivation for commit 8edc3affc0 ("rds: tcp: Take explicit
refcounts on struct net") was to resolve a race condition reported by
syzkaller where workqs for tx/rx/connect were triggered after the
namespace was deleted. Those worker threads should have been
cancelled/flushed before socket tear-down and indeed,
rds_conn_path_destroy() does try to sequence this by doing

Here the "flush cp_down_w" will trigger rds_conn_shutdown and thus
invoke rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown() to close the tcp socket, so that
we ought to have satisfied the requirement that "socket-close is
done after all other dependent state is quiesced". However,
rds_conn_shutdown has a bug in that it *always* triggers the reconnect
workq (and if connection is successful, we always restart tx/rx
workqs so with the right timing, we risk the race conditions reported
by syzkaller).
Netns deletion is like module teardown- no need to restart a
reconnect in this case. We can use the c_destroy_in_prog bit
to avoid restarting the reconnect.

A side-effect of Commit c14b036681 ("rds: tcp: set linger to 1
when unloading a rds-tcp") is that we always send a RST on the tcp
connection for rds_conn_destroy(), so rds_tcp_conn_paths_destroy()
is not needed any more and is removed in this patch.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Several conflicts here.
NFP driver bug fix adding nfp_netdev_is_nfp_repr() check to
nfp_fl_output() needed some adjustments because the code block is in
an else block now.
Parallel additions to net/pkt_cls.h and net/sch_generic.h
A bug fix in __tcp_retransmit_skb() conflicted with some of
the rbtree changes in net-next.
The tc action RCU callback fixes in 'net' had some overlap with some
of the recent tcf_block reworking.

The number of unsignaled work-requests posted to the IB send queue is
tracked by a counter in the rds_ib_connection struct. When it reaches
zero, or the caller explicitly asks for it, the send-signaled bit is
set in send_flags and the counter is reset. This is performed by the
rds_ib_set_wr_signal_state() function.
However, this function is not always used which yields inaccurate
accounting. This commit fixes this, re-factors a code bloat related to
the matter, and makes the actual parameter type to the function
consistent.

In rds_send_xmit() there is logic to batch the sends. However, if
another thread has acquired the lock and has incremented the send_gen,
it is considered a race and we yield. The code incrementing the
s_send_lock_queue_raced statistics counter did not count this event
correctly.
This commit counts the race condition correctly.

The UDP offload conflict is dealt with by simply taking what is
in net-next where we have removed all of the UFO handling code
entirely.
The TCP conflict was a case of local variables in a function
being removed from both net and net-next.
In netvsc we had an assignment right next to where a missing
set of u64 stats sync object inits were added.

In commit 7e3f2952ee ("rds: don't let RDS shutdown a connection
while senders are present"), refilling the receive queue was removed
from rds_ib_recv(), along with the increment of
s_ib_rx_refill_from_thread.
Commit 73ce4317bf ("RDS: make sure we post recv buffers")
re-introduces filling the receive queue from rds_ib_recv(), but does
not add the statistics counter. rds_ib_recv() was later renamed to
rds_ib_recv_path().
This commit reintroduces the statistics counting of
s_ib_rx_refill_from_thread and s_ib_rx_refill_from_cq.

RDS over IB does not use multipath RDS, so the array
of additional rds_conn_path structures is always superfluous
in this case. Reduce the memory footprint of the rds module
by making this a dynamic allocation predicated on whether
the transport is mp_capable.

cp->cp_send_gen is treated as a normal variable, although it may be
used by different threads.
This is fixed by using {READ,WRITE}_ONCE when it is incremented and
READ_ONCE when it is read outside the {acquire,release}_in_xmit
protection.
Normative reference from the Linux-Kernel Memory Model:
Loads from and stores to shared (but non-atomic) variables should
be protected with the READ_ONCE(), WRITE_ONCE(), and
ACCESS_ONCE().
Clause 5.1.2.4/25 in the C standard is also relevant.

We could end up executing rds_conn_shutdown before the rds_recv_worker
thread, then rds_conn_shutdown -> rds_tcp_conn_shutdown can do a
sock_release and set sock->sk to null, which may interleave in bad

There are two problems with calling sock_create_kern() from
rds_tcp_accept_one()
1. it sets up a new_sock->sk that is wasteful, because this ->sk
is going to get replaced by inet_accept() in the subsequent ->accept()
2. The new_sock->sk is a leaked reference in sock_graft() which
expects to find a null parent->sk
Avoid these problems by calling sock_create_lite().

If we are unloading the rds_tcp module, we can set linger to 1
and drop pending packets to accelerate reconnect. The peer will
end up resetting the connection based on new generation numbers
of the new incarnation, so hanging on to unsent TCP packets via
linger is mostly pointless in this case.

The RDS handshake ping probe added by commit 5916e2c155
("RDS: TCP: Enable multipath RDS for TCP") is sent from rds_sendmsg()
before the first data packet is sent to a peer. If the conversation
is not bidirectional (i.e., one side is always passive and never
invokes rds_sendmsg()) and the passive side restarts its rds_tcp
module, a new HS ping probe needs to be sent, so that the number
of paths can be re-established.
This patch achieves that by sending a HS ping probe from
rds_tcp_accept_one() when c_npaths is 0 (i.e., we have not done
a handshake probe with this peer yet).

Each time we get an incoming SYN to the RDS_TCP_PORT, the TCP
layer accepts the connection and then the rds_tcp_accept_one()
callback is invoked to process the incoming connection.
rds_tcp_accept_one() may reject the incoming syn for a number of
reasons, e.g., commit 1a0e100fb2 ("RDS: TCP: Force every connection
to be initiated by numerically smaller IP address"), or because
we are getting spammed by a malicious node that is triggering
a flood of connection attempts to RDS_TCP_PORT. If the incoming
syn is rejected, no data would have been sent on the TCP socket,
and we do not need to be in TIME_WAIT state, so we set linger on
the TCP socket before closing, thereby closing the socket efficiently
with a RST.

The rds_connect_worker() has a bug in the check that enforces the
canonical connection order described in the comments of
rds_tcp_state_change(). The intention is to make sure that all
the multipath connections are always initiated by the smaller IP
address via rds_start_mprds. To achieve this, rds_connection_worker
should check that cp_index > 0.

rds_conn_shutdown() runs in workq context, and marks the rds_connection
as DISCONNECTING before quiescing Tx/Rx paths. However, after all I/O
has quiesced, we may still find the rds_connection state to be
RDS_CONN_ERROR if an intervening FIN was processed in softirq context.
This is not a fatal error: rds_conn_shutdown() should continue the
shutdown, and there is no need to log noisy messages about this event.

Lockdep issues a circular dependency warning when AFS issues an operation
through AF_RXRPC from a context in which the VFS/VM holds the mmap_sem.
The theory lockdep comes up with is as follows:
(1) If the pagefault handler decides it needs to read pages from AFS, it
calls AFS with mmap_sem held and AFS begins an AF_RXRPC call, but
creating a call requires the socket lock:
mmap_sem must be taken before sk_lock-AF_RXRPC
(2) afs_open_socket() opens an AF_RXRPC socket and binds it. rxrpc_bind()
binds the underlying UDP socket whilst holding its socket lock.
inet_bind() takes its own socket lock:
sk_lock-AF_RXRPC must be taken before sk_lock-AF_INET
(3) Reading from a TCP socket into a userspace buffer might cause a fault
and thus cause the kernel to take the mmap_sem, but the TCP socket is
locked whilst doing this:
sk_lock-AF_INET must be taken before mmap_sem
However, lockdep's theory is wrong in this instance because it deals only
with lock classes and not individual locks. The AF_INET lock in (2) isn't
really equivalent to the AF_INET lock in (3) as the former deals with a
socket entirely internal to the kernel that never sees userspace. This is
a limitation in the design of lockdep.
Fix the general case by:
(1) Double up all the locking keys used in sockets so that one set are
used if the socket is created by userspace and the other set is used
if the socket is created by the kernel.
(2) Store the kern parameter passed to sk_alloc() in a variable in the
sock struct (sk_kern_sock). This informs sock_lock_init(),
sock_init_data() and sk_clone_lock() as to the lock keys to be used.
Note that the child created by sk_clone_lock() inherits the parent's
kern setting.
(3) Add a 'kern' parameter to ->accept() that is analogous to the one
passed in to ->create() that distinguishes whether kernel_accept() or
sys_accept4() was the caller and can be passed to sk_alloc().
Note that a lot of accept functions merely dequeue an already
allocated socket. I haven't touched these as the new socket already
exists before we get the parameter.
Note also that there are a couple of places where I've made the accepted
socket unconditionally kernel-based:
irda_accept()
rds_rcp_accept_one()
tcp_accept_from_sock()
because they follow a sock_create_kern() and accept off of that.
Whilst creating this, I noticed that lustre and ocfs don't create sockets
through sock_create_kern() and thus they aren't marked as for-kernel,
though they appear to be internal. I wonder if these should do that so
that they use the new set of lock keys.

Commit a93d01f577 ("RDS: TCP: avoid bad page reference in
rds_tcp_listen_data_ready") added the function
rds_tcp_listen_sock_def_readable() to handle the case when a
partially set-up acceptor socket drops into rds_tcp_listen_data_ready().
However, if the listen socket (rtn->rds_tcp_listen_sock) is itself going
through a tear-down via rds_tcp_listen_stop(), the (*ready)() will be
null and we would hit a panic of the form

In the above case, it is not fatal to encounter a NULL value for
ready- we should just drop the packet and let the flush of the
acceptor thread finish gracefully.
In general, the tear-down sequence for listen() and accept() socket

Order of initialization in rds_tcp_init needs to be done so
that resources are set up and destroyed in the correct synchronization
sequence with both the data path, as well as netns create/destroy
path. Specifically,
- we must call register_pernet_subsys and get the rds_tcp_netid
before calling register_netdevice_notifier, otherwise we risk
the sequence
1. register_netdevice_notifier sets up netdev notifier callback
2. rds_tcp_dev_event -> rds_tcp_kill_sock uses netid 0, and finds
the wrong rtn, resulting in a panic with string that is of the form:

It is incorrect for the rds_connection to piggyback on the
sock_net() refcount for the netns because this gives rise to
a chicken-and-egg problem during rds_conn_destroy. Instead explicitly
take a ref on the net, and hold the netns down till the connection
tear-down is complete.

it was possible to remove the IB DMA mapping code entirely and
switch the RDMA stack to use the core DMA mapping code. This resulted

Socket option to tap receive path latency in various stages
in nano seconds. It can be enabled on selective sockets using
using SO_RDS_MSG_RXPATH_LATENCY socket option. RDS will return
the data to application with RDS_CMSG_RXPATH_LATENCY in defined
format. Scope is left to add more trace points for future
without need of change in the interface.

RDS support max message size as 1M but the code doesn't check this
in all cases. Patch fixes it for RDMA & non-RDMA and RDS MR size
and its enforced irrespective of underlying transport.

Shutdown code reaping loop takes care of emptying the
CQ's before they being destroyed. And once tasklets are
killed, the hanlders are not expected to run.
But because of core tasklet code issues, tasklet handler could
still run even after tasklet_kill,
RDS IB shutdown code already reaps the CQs before freeing
cq/qp resources so as such the handlers have nothing left
to do post shutdown.
On other hand any handler running after teardown and trying
to access already freed qp/cq resources causes issues
Patch fixes this race by makes sure that handlers returns
without any action post teardown.
