Cong Wang c9be4a5c49 net: prevent setting ttl=0 via IP_TTL
A regression is introduced by the following commit:

	commit 4d52cfbef6
	Author: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com>
	Date:   Tue Jun 2 00:42:16 2009 -0700

	    net: ipv4/ip_sockglue.c cleanups

	    Pure cleanups

but it is not a pure cleanup...

	-               if (val != -1 && (val < 1 || val>255))
	+               if (val != -1 && (val < 0 || val > 255))

Since there is no reason provided to allow ttl=0, change it back.

Trond Myklebust 87ed50036b SUNRPC: Ensure we release the socket write lock if the rpc_task exits early
If the rpc_task exits while holding the socket write lock before it has
allocated an rpc slot, then the usual mechanism for releasing the write
lock in xprt_release() is defeated.

The problem occurs if the call to xprt_lock_write() initially fails, so
that the rpc_task is put on the xprt->sending wait queue. If the task
exits after being assigned the lock by __xprt_lock_write_func, but
before it has retried the call to xprt_lock_and_alloc_slot(), then
it calls xprt_release() while holding the write lock, but will
immediately exit due to the test for task->tk_rqstp != NULL.

Heiko Carstens 420f42ecf4 s390/irq: remove split irq fields from /proc/stat
Now that irq sum accounting for /proc/stat's "intr" line works again we
have the oddity that the sum field (first field) contains only the sum
of the second (external irqs) and third field (I/O interrupts).
The reason for that is that these two fields are already sums of all other
fields. So if we would sum up everything we would count every interrupt
twice.
This is broken since the split interrupt accounting was merged two years
ago: 052ff461c8 "[S390] irq: have detailed
statistics for interrupt types".
To fix this remove the split interrupt fields from /proc/stat's "intr"
line again and only have them in /proc/interrupts.

This restores the old behaviour, seems to be the only sane fix and mimics
a behaviour from other architectures where /proc/interrupts also contains
more than /proc/stat's "intr" line does.

Alex Elder 36a25de233 sctp: fix Kconfig bug in default cookie hmac selection
Commit 0d0863b020 ("sctp: Change defaults on cookie hmac selection")
added a "choice" to the sctp Kconfig file. It introduced a bug which
led to an infinite loop when while running "make oldconfig".

The problem is that the wrong symbol was defined as the default value
for the choice. Using the correct value gets rid of the infinite loop.

Note: if CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_SHA1=y was present in the input
config file, both that and CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_MD5=y be present

xt_recent can try high order page allocations and this can fail.

iptables: page allocation failure: order:9, mode:0xc0d0

It also wastes about half the allocated space because of kmalloc()

Use vmalloc() instead to save space and be less prone to allocation

Johannes Berg 826262c3d2 mac80211: fix dtim_period in hidden SSID AP association
When AP's SSID is hidden the BSS can appear several times in
cfg80211's BSS list: once with a zero-length SSID that comes
from the beacon, and once for each SSID from probe reponses.

Since the mac80211 stores its data in ieee80211_bss which
is embedded into cfg80211_bss, mac80211's data will be
duplicated too.

This becomes a problem when a driver needs the dtim_period
since this data exists only in the beacon's instance in
cfg80211 bss table which isn't the instance that is used
when associating.

Remove the DTIM period from the BSS table and track it
explicitly to avoid this problem.

Johannes Berg 97f97b1f5f mac80211: fix station destruction in AP/mesh modes
Unfortunately, commit b22cfcfcae, intended to speed up roaming
by avoiding the synchronize_rcu() broke AP/mesh modes as it moved
some code into that work item that will still call into the driver
at a time where it's no longer expected to handle this: after the
AP or mesh has been stopped.

To fix this problem remove the per-station work struct, maintain a
station cleanup list instead and flush this list when stations are
flushed. To keep this patch smaller for stable, do this when the
stations are flushed (sta_info_flush()). This unfortunately brings
back the original roaming delay; I'll fix that again in a separate
patch.

Also, Ben reported that the original commit could sometimes (with
many interfaces) cause long delays when an interface is set down,
due to blocking on flush_workqueue(). Since we now maintain the
cleanup list, this particular change of the original patch can be
reverted.

Sage Weil 0fa6ebc600 libceph: fix protocol feature mismatch failure path
We should not set con->state to CLOSED here; that happens in
ceph_fault() in the caller, where it first asserts that the state
is not yet CLOSED. Avoids a BUG when the features don't match.

Alex Elder 122070a2ff libceph: WARN, don't BUG on unexpected connection states
A number of assertions in the ceph messenger are implemented with
BUG_ON(), killing the system if connection's state doesn't match
what's expected. At this point our state model is (evidently) not
well understood enough for these assertions to trigger a BUG().
Convert all BUG_ON(con->state...) calls to be WARN_ON(con->state...)
so we learn about these issues without killing the machine.

We now recognize that a connection fault can occur due to a socket
closure at any time, regardless of the state of the connection. So
there is really nothing we can assert about the state of the
connection at that point so eliminate that assertion.

Alex Elder e6d50f67a6 libceph: always reset osds when kicking
When ceph_osdc_handle_map() is called to process a new osd map,
kick_requests() is called to ensure all affected requests are
updated if necessary to reflect changes in the osd map. This
happens in two cases: whenever an incremental map update is
processed; and when a full map update (or the last one if there is
more than one) gets processed.

In the former case, the kick_requests() call is followed immediately
by a call to reset_changed_osds() to ensure any connections to osds
affected by the map change are reset. But for full map updates
this isn't done.

Both cases should be doing this osd reset.

Rather than duplicating the reset_changed_osds() call, move it into
the end of kick_requests().

Alex Elder ab60b16d3c libceph: move linger requests sooner in kick_requests()
The kick_requests() function is called by ceph_osdc_handle_map()
when an osd map change has been indicated. Its purpose is to
re-queue any request whose target osd is different from what it
was when it was originally sent.

It is structured as two loops, one for incomplete but registered
requests, and a second for handling completed linger requests.
As a special case, in the first loop if a request marked to linger
has not yet completed, it is moved from the request list to the
linger list. This is as a quick and dirty way to have the second
loop handle sending the request along with all the other linger
requests.

Because of the way it's done now, however, this quick and dirty
solution can result in these incomplete linger requests never
getting re-sent as desired. The problem lies in the fact that
the second loop only arranges for a linger request to be sent
if it appears its target osd has changed. This is the proper
handling for *completed* linger requests (it avoids issuing
the same linger request twice to the same osd).

But although the linger requests added to the list in the first loop
may have been sent, they have not yet completed, so they need to be
re-sent regardless of whether their target osd has changed.

The first required fix is we need to avoid calling __map_request()
on any incomplete linger request. Otherwise the subsequent
__map_request() call in the second loop will find the target osd
has not changed and will therefore not re-send the request.

Second, we need to be sure that a sent but incomplete linger request
gets re-sent. If the target osd is the same with the new osd map as
it was when the request was originally sent, this won't happen.
This can be fixed through careful handling when we move these
requests from the request list to the linger list, by unregistering
the request *before* it is registered as a linger request. This
works because a side-effect of unregistering the request is to make
the request's r_osd pointer be NULL, and *that* will ensure the
second loop actually re-sends the linger request.

Processing of such a request is done at that point, so continue with
the next one once it's been moved.

Eric Dumazet c3ae62af8e tcp: should drop incoming frames without ACK flag set
In commit 96e0bf4b51 (tcp: Discard segments that ack data not yet
sent) John Dykstra enforced a check against ack sequences.

In commit 354e4aa391 (tcp: RFC 5961 5.2 Blind Data Injection Attack
Mitigation) I added more safety tests.

But we missed fact that these tests are not performed if ACK bit is
not set.

RFC 793 3.9 mandates TCP should drop a frame without ACK flag set.

" fifth check the ACK field,
      if the ACK bit is off drop the segment and return"

Not doing so permits an attacker to only guess an acceptable sequence
number, evading stronger checks.

Many thanks to Zhiyun Qian for bringing this issue to our attention.

Akinobu Mita 143cdd8f33 batman-adv: fix random jitter calculation
batadv_iv_ogm_emit_send_time() attempts to calculates a random integer
in the range of 'orig_interval +- BATADV_JITTER' by the below lines.

        msecs = atomic_read(&bat_priv->orig_interval) - BATADV_JITTER;
        msecs += (random32() % 2 * BATADV_JITTER);

But it actually gets 'orig_interval' or 'orig_interval - BATADV_JITTER'
because '%' and '*' have same precedence and associativity is
left-to-right.

This adds the parentheses at the appropriate position so that it matches
original intension.

(9655050 netfilter: remove xt_NOTRACK) is breaking some existing
setups.

That removal was scheduled for removal since long time ago as
described in Documentation/feature-removal-schedule.txt

What:  xt_NOTRACK
Files: net/netfilter/xt_NOTRACK.c
When:  April 2011
Why:   Superseded by xt_CT

Still, people may have not notice / may have decided to stick to an
old iptables version. I agree with him in that some more conservative
approach by spotting some printk to warn users for some time is less
agressive.

Current iptables 1.4.16.3 already contains the aliasing support
that makes it point to the CT target, so upgrading would fix it.
Still, the policy so far has been to avoid pushing our users to
upgrade.

As a solution, this patch recovers the NOTRACK target inside the CT
target and it now spots a warning.

RB_EMPTY_NODE(), which expects the node it's checking to have
been initialized. But rb_init_node() is apparently overkill, and
may in fact be on its way out. So use RB_CLEAR_NODE() instead.

For a little more background, see this commit:

Alex Elder 28362986f8 libceph: report connection fault with warning
When a connection's socket disconnects, or if there's a protocol
error of some kind on the connection, a fault is signaled and
the connection is reset (closed and reopened, basically). We
currently get an error message on the log whenever this occurs.

A ceph connection will attempt to reestablish a socket connection
repeatedly if a fault occurs. This means that these error messages
will get repeatedly added to the log, which is undesirable.

Change the error message to be a warning, so they don't get
logged by default.

Linus Torvalds 6a2b60b17b Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace
Pull user namespace changes from Eric Biederman:
 "While small this set of changes is very significant with respect to
  containers in general and user namespaces in particular. The user
  space interface is now complete.

  This set of changes adds support for unprivileged users to create user
  namespaces and as a user namespace root to create other namespaces.
  The tyranny of supporting suid root preventing unprivileged users from
  using cool new kernel features is broken.

  This set of changes completes the work on setns, adding support for
  the pid, user, mount namespaces.

  This set of changes includes a bunch of basic pid namespace
  cleanups/simplifications. Of particular significance is the rework of
  the pid namespace cleanup so it no longer requires sending out
  tendrils into all kinds of unexpected cleanup paths for operation. At
  least one case of broken error handling is fixed by this cleanup.

  The files under /proc/<pid>/ns/ have been converted from regular files
  to magic symlinks which prevents incorrect caching by the VFS,
  ensuring the files always refer to the namespace the process is
  currently using and ensuring that the ptrace_mayaccess permission
  checks are always applied.

  The files under /proc/<pid>/ns/ have been given stable inode numbers
  so it is now possible to see if different processes share the same
  namespaces.

  Through the David Miller's net tree are changes to relax many of the
  permission checks in the networking stack to allowing the user
  namespace root to usefully use the networking stack. Similar changes
  for the mount namespace and the pid namespace are coming through my
  tree.

  Two small changes to add user namespace support were commited here adn
  in David Miller's -net tree so that I could complete the work on the
  /proc/<pid>/ns/ files in this tree.

  Work remains to make it safe to build user namespaces and 9p, afs,
  ceph, cifs, coda, gfs2, ncpfs, nfs, nfsd, ocfs2, and xfs so the
  Kconfig guard remains in place preventing that user namespaces from
  being built when any of those filesystems are enabled.

  Future design work remains to allow root users outside of the initial
  user namespace to mount more than just /proc and /sys."

Alex Elder 685a7555ca libceph: avoid using freed osd in __kick_osd_requests()
If an osd has no requests and no linger requests, __reset_osd()
will just remove it with a call to __remove_osd(). That drops
a reference to the osd, and therefore the osd may have been free
by the time __reset_osd() returns. That function offers no
indication this may have occurred, and as a result the osd will
continue to be used even when it's no longer valid.

Change__reset_osd() so it returns an error (ENODEV) when it
deletes the osd being reset. And change __kick_osd_requests() so it
returns immediately (before referencing osd again) if __reset_osd()
returns *any* error.

Pablo Neira Ayuso 252b3e8c1b netfilter: xt_CT: fix crash while destroy ct templates
In (d871bef netfilter: ctnetlink: dump entries from the dying and
unconfirmed lists), we assume that all conntrack objects are
inserted in any of the existing lists. However, template conntrack
objects were not. This results in hitting BUG_ON in the
destroy_conntrack path while removing a rule that uses the CT target.

This patch fixes the situation by adding the template lists, which
is where template conntrack objects reside now.

Haibo Xi 97cf00e93c netfilter: nf_ct_reasm: fix conntrack reassembly expire code
Commit b836c99fd6 (ipv6: unify conntrack reassembly expire
code with standard one) use the standard IPv6 reassembly
code(ip6_expire_frag_queue) to handle conntrack reassembly expire.

In ip6_expire_frag_queue, it invoke dev_get_by_index_rcu to get
which device received this expired packet.so we must save ifindex
when NF_conntrack get this packet.

With this patch applied, I can see ICMP Time Exceeded sent
from the receiver when the sender sent out 1/2 fragmented

Mukund Jampala c6f408996c netfilter: ip[6]t_REJECT: fix wrong transport header pointer in TCP reset
The problem occurs when iptables constructs the tcp reset packet.
It doesn't initialize the pointer to the tcp header within the skb.
When the skb is passed to the ixgbe driver for transmit, the ixgbe
driver attempts to access the tcp header and crashes.
Currently, other drivers (such as our 1G e1000e or igb drivers) don't
access the tcp header on transmit unless the TSO option is turned on.

Simon Arlott df48419107 ipv6: Fix Makefile offload objects

This patch fixes the typo "ipv6_offload" which should be
"ipv6-offload".

I don't know why not including the offload modules should
break TCP. Disabling all offload options on the NIC didn't
help. Outgoing pulseaudio traffic kept stalling.

Neil Horman 0d0863b020 sctp: Change defaults on cookie hmac selection
Recently I posted commit 3c68198e75 which made selection of the cookie hmac
algorithm selectable. This is all well and good, but Linus noted that it
changes the default config:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-netdev&m=135536629004808&w=2

I've modified the sctp Kconfig file to reflect the recommended way of making
this choice, using the thermal driver example specified, and brought the
defaults back into line with the way they were prior to my origional patch

Also, on Linus' suggestion, re-adding ability to select default 'none' hmac
algorithm, so we don't needlessly bloat the kernel by forcing a non-none
default. This also led me to note that we won't honor the default none
condition properly because of how sctp_net_init is encoded. Fix that up as
well.

Tested by myself (allbeit fairly quickly). All configuration combinations seems
to work soundly.

Eric W. Biederman 5e4a08476b userns: Require CAP_SYS_ADMIN for most uses of setns.
Andy Lutomirski <luto@amacapital.net> found a nasty little bug in
the permissions of setns. With unprivileged user namespaces it
became possible to create new namespaces without privilege.

However the setns calls were relaxed to only require CAP_SYS_ADMIN in
the user nameapce of the targed namespace.

Which made the following nasty sequence possible.

pid = clone(CLONE_NEWUSER | CLONE_NEWNS);
if (pid == 0) { /* child */
	system("mount --bind /home/me/passwd /etc/passwd");
}
else if (pid != 0) { /* parent */
	char path[PATH_MAX];
	snprintf(path, sizeof(path), "/proc/%u/ns/mnt");
	fd = open(path, O_RDONLY);
	setns(fd, 0);
	system("su -");
}

Prevent this possibility by requiring CAP_SYS_ADMIN
in the current user namespace when joing all but the user namespace.

This happens, because sk_clone_lock initializes sk_refcnt to 2, and thus
a single sock_put() is not enough to free the memory. Additionally, things
like xfrm, memcg, cookie_values,... may have been initialized.
We have to free them properly.

This is fixed by forcing a call to tcp_done(), ending up in
inet_csk_destroy_sock, doing the final sock_put(). tcp_done() is necessary,
because it ends up doing all the cleanup on xfrm, memcg, cookie_values,
xfrm,...

Before calling tcp_done, we have to set the socket to SOCK_DEAD, to
force it entering inet_csk_destroy_sock. To avoid the warning in
inet_csk_destroy_sock, inet_num has to be set to 0.
As inet_csk_destroy_sock does a dec on orphan_count, we first have to
increase it.

Calling tcp_done() allows us to remove the calls to
tcp_clear_xmit_timer() and tcp_cleanup_congestion_control().

A similar approach is taken for dccp by calling dccp_done().

This is in the kernel since 093d282321 (tproxy: fix hash locking issue
when using port redirection in __inet_inherit_port()), thus since
version >= 2.6.37.
